I've tried, really I have. The place is so pretty. However, the service is just so sloppy, the menus are torn and filthy, and the plates do not feel like they have been properly washed. The food is ok, and the servers are pleasant, but just too amateurish for a peaceful and smooth meal. I'm so sorry. I would love to see this place become excellent. Tried four more times to be fair, and still no skim or 2% milk. How hard is that to keep on hand, and surely I am not the only one to ask.

Really good food & waitress was super nice! Reasonably priced too. Will be coming back the next time I'm in Beaufort SC

Excellent breakfast! Service was great, food was hot and fresh. Tried the Scotch eggs with grits and cheddar biscuit.

Gorgeous architecture and decor! Mint green paint, white subway tile with dark grout, metal chairs, and retro touches make this establishment a relaxing visual delight. It truly is the perfect lunch stop in Beaufort! Portions are generous! We tried the Lowcountry trio as an appetizer- dilly beans and pimento cheese with pita bread. Excellent! The sweet pickles mixed in with the dilly beans were excellent! "Best I have had" proclaimed my husband. His Frank's Furter hotdog came with a savory pepper strawberry preserve and artichoke relish. It was excellent! I tried the tomato pie with Caesar salad with white fish anchovies- so fresh! The tomato pie was stuffed with tomatoes- I had to thin it out from the generous portion. Unlimited sweet tea topped off our lunch. All in all a great experience!

The food is ok, nothing special. But the service was awful in a negligent way - slow, if there at all, and forgetful. And there was only two other tables. Yikes.

The biggest appeal here is the uniqueness of the atmosphere and restaurant environment. The food is also good, though nothing to write home about, it doesn't claim to be a five-star restaurant LOL. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Beaufort. I am a local resident for more than 20 years.

Unfortunately we were not as satisfied with our visit as we hoped to be. The food was great but the service was terrible. We sat outside (all outside tables were vacated but still dirty) for around 5 minutes before someone cleaned the table. We ordered coffees that took a long time to come out. We ordered 1 donut and specified it come out prior to everything else and the fish and eggs and French toast. It took about 20 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile the table next to us was covered in food and by this time flies were also covering the food. Our food came out (the donut did not come out first) and we had to ask the waiter to bus the table next to us because of the flies (which he did). When we left we exited through the restaurant and almost every table in the place had leftover food and had not been cleaned. It is so simple and imperative that dirty tables be cleaned immediately. The service needs some work.

This is an adorable little place. We came here on a visit to Beafort for a quick lunch. The entire family seemed to love their meals. My husband said his burger was very good, my salad was fresh with lots of nice flavors. Apparantly the salad is one of the best sellers on the menu. I finally tried some sweet tea here too, it was great! not too, too sweet. Another favorite was the tomatoe pie, we all left wishing we had the recipe! Its also nice that you get to choose basically any side to go with your dish (they have many side salads to choose from, so you really get something you like). The small baked goods section looked good, but we didnt do dessert. Its a cute little place for a coffee or a light lunch. Very few seats though. Service was quick and servers were very polite, true sweet southerners!

Cute place. A nice spot for browsing. Over priced. Definitely a tourist trap. Look but don't touch.

Nice place in town for lunch. Very clean and service was good and quick. We had egg salad and bacon sandwich. Oyster poboy, shrimp poboy, club sandwich all where very good. The tavern chips with bacon and blue cheese were a good appie

Had breakfast here and it was fabulous. Veggie scrambled eggs with feta and potatoes was awesome. Decor homey feel. Plenty of takeout dishes and specialty items.

We stumbled upon this gem in downtown Beaufort. The breakfast was delicious and the southern hospitality was even better. After a steak and egg breakfast, the owner suggested a stroll through the adjacent neighborhood filled with pre civil war architecture. We felt very much at home here.

I was pleasantly surprised with Lowcountry Produce Market & Café. I had high expectations, but upon entering it really felt like the business had little in place when it comes to process and procedures with their dine-in customers. As a first timer, we didn't know what we were doing upon entry, so we wandered around a bit, asked a guy at a register in the back and he told us to take a seat wherever we pleased. So high expectations dropped pretty low, but then were saved by the food. I had a po boy, a slice of tomato pie, and a garden salad. The food was really good and from my experience in Beaufort, it stands well above many of the other lunch options. However, only 3 stars for the full experience and the inability to welcome, greet and seat customers. While eating lunch I saw at least two prospective parties walk in, look around, and leave. As a business, this is where they lose points. I would like to come back and sample a few more items, and maybe walk away with a jar of pickles.

I really enjoyed stopping at this place during our visit to beaufort. We came here in between breakfast and lunch so all the breakfast stuff was mostly gone but we were more in a browsing rather then eating mood at that point. I loved the little rooms and the options of little knick nacks organized all over the store. I mostly just loved the decor of the place. We ended up buying some soda and some pickled green tomatoes. The pickled green tomatoes were a little sweet for my taste when I'm craving pickles but they are still delicious to put on a salad or sandwich.

When coming to Bluffton, this is a 'don't miss' lunch place. Their sandwiches and salads have something for everyone. My husband loves their Ooey gooey (grilled pimento cheese sandwich with bacon and garlic pepper jelly), kiddo loves their hotdogs, and I love their Bacon and egg sandwich (egg salad with bacon). Love the feel in their building, too - I think it was an old city hall with some of a vault's hardware still in place and a whole lot of windows. Not sure though which entrance is the main entrance and no one really greets you when you come in. So the wait staff's service is interesting because you don't really know what you're going to get. That being said, i would definitely recommend Low Country Produce to anyone who would be near here.

Great market/Restaurant with lots of charm. In historic district and close to Bay St. And river walk shopping. Definitely would eat here again when we visit Beaufort again.

Got here a little late for lunch and couldn't order anything off of the grill, which was upsetting because they were still open but I couldn't get the full menu. I ordered a club sandwich and it was great, the ingredients were top quality. The house chips weren't very good, I wish I had gotten fruit instead. The service was slow. I got a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and it was amazing! The reason I take away 2 stars is because as we walked out the door my mom heard one of the employees say "Is that all they tipped us?" Are you kidding me?! I tipped almost 25%! How rude!

While visiting Beaufort and feeling my hunger pains grow, I was in search of a casual place where we could grab a sandwich and a salad. Lowcountry Produce Market and Café fit the bill perfectly. Casual, fast, GOOD food at a reasonable price! I ordered the shrimp po-boy (An aside: Always opt for shrimp in the south when it's in season!) and loved it. Although I'm not a big fan of fried shrimp, these were perfect. Lightly battered and not overpowered with seasoning. The bread was fresh (no sandwich passes the test without fresh bread) and the tartar sauce was homemade. Yes, a fairly simple sounding sandwich; however it allowed the fresh shrimp to be the star of the show. And man were they tasty! My girlfriend ordered a salad with fresh shrimp subbed in for the chicken. The blue cheese dressing was fresh and very good; I suspect it was homemade. However, the beet chow-chow that came with the salad stole the show! Sweet. Tart. And delicious! In fact she mixed that into the salad in lieu of the dressing. What resulted was a fresh, crisp, and healthy salad that is hard to top. We liked it so much we sought to buy a couple of jars to take home. The bad: they were sold out! The good: Our waitress advised us of their other location which was on our way to Charleston. We stopped there on the way out and searched for it. Alas, they were sold out as well. Luckily, the owner had just made some the day before and filled a couple of jars for us! All in all, this place was a hit. I'd definitely recommend grabbing lunch here while strolling through the town. You'll be glad you did!

This is my favorite place to grab a quick lunch & my daughter loves it too! The building is beyond beautiful and we always enjoy the food and friendly service :)

Adorable, beautifully restored grocery & café in Beaufort. My husband and I stopped here on our way from Charleston to Savannah to see another southern town. We had the grilled cheese and the chicken sandwich with some cole slaw and potato salad plus sweet teas for us both. The food was good - not incredible - but it felt very charming and genuinely southern small town. We picked up some grocery goods for gifts to bring back with us (to NYC where we don't see benne wafers) and got back on the road quickly. Nice little stop if you're in the area. I'd recommend reading about the history of the building and walking around the Historic District while in Beaufort, too - there are some beautiful mansions to see.

Gotta get the doughnuts if they are making them. Their homemade yeast doughnuts are soooo delicious! Also, the building was the post office before it was a bank. One suggestion I could make would be to keep the front door shut (they have a double set of doors with the ones closest to the sidewalk open and the second set have a gap in the middle). There is a fly in here every time I come in.

We came to this charming cafe for a light lunch. The atmosphere is folksy and homey. The location is conveniently just one block off of the boutiques and galleries along Bay Street. The wait staff and manager were very attentive. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We'd definitely go back again.

Is it a grocery? Is it an organic market? Is it a music venue? Well all and a little bit of everything. Dinner is served on Thursdays and Saturdays... Fridays not to be out done offers small plates and tapas with live music. They also serve Breakfast and Lunch during the week and a full day of BRUNCH/breakfast on Sundays. It was Saturday and early... about 6:30PM and the Beaufort Shrimp Boat festivle was winding down. So the place was quite when I arrived only to see more patrons as the minutes ticked by. My waiter was warm and helpful with the menu and beer selections. I opted for the Victory Prima Pilsner since I am a sucker for the lighter Czech styled brew. I opened with a small plate of the crab cakes w/ pineapple salsa for $7.50. that was way more crab meat than filler. Ended with the LCP Burger (hold the bun please... trying to do my part on lowering my gluten intake... they could offer a slice of gluten free bread versus the wheat roll, but they were out this evening. The LCP burger is a decent meal for $8.50 the least expensive entree on the menu. SaleebScore: Venue: 9/10... just a cool place; Food: 8/10; Service: 8.5/10. Overall a neat hangout and will be back for music on a Friday nite. Hey Yelp! give me a 4 & 1/2 star option..huh.

Enjoyed lunch here very much. Had to wait a short while around noon on Sunday but not too bad. SO had biscuits and gravy and declared them to be his favorite anywhere. I had the steak salad which had lovely fresh lettuce, juicy ripe tomatoes, a good balsamic dressing and a truly melt-in-your mouth steak. You will enjoy your meal! The only reason for 4 stars rather than five is we thought it was a little pricey for the quantities served.

Remodeled from an old bank, Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe has a open feel about its dining room. This, coupled with its local products displays throughout the facility give it a purely Beaufort charm. The menu is relatively simple, but made fresh with local produce and delivered with a warm smile. Prices are very reasonable and the selection of spices and produce, as well as take home entrees prepared for finishing in your own kitchen make for a good spot to stop and dine, or just drop-in and carryout. Lowcountry also carries a great wine selection to drink in house or take with you. I'd love to recommend the BLT, and the icecream sandwiches make for a great desert!

Great burgers, fresh food, excellent service. Atmosphere is airy and bright with a cool history ( use to be a post office- it still has the vault doors)

This place is great. Beautifully decorated, amazing food and a warm friendly staff. Hit this spot up for a yummy breakfast, with fast service. Try the traditional low country breakfast. Cheddar biscuits are great.... They just crumble so perfectly. The store has fresh produce and home made treats to make your mouth water like cookies, cupcakes etc.

What a great stop!! When we went there around Christmas time Santa was there having breakfast too!! How fun for the children!! The food was wonderful and fresh. The staff went above and beyond as a team to see that we enjoyed our visit. If I was a local I'd dine here often! Thanks!!

We had an excellent meal here Saturday night for dinner. They are only open a few nights a week for their dinner service but man was it good. My wife and I's steak was cooked to near perfection and the mashed potatoes that came as a side were done just right. The menu isn't very extensive but it seems that you can't go wrong with anything on it. Next time I'm in town I want to come back and try Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe for lunch judging by the reviews I have read on their lunch service. Nonetheless if you are ever in downtown Beaufort around dinner time, I highly recommend this spot if they are open. You won't be disappointed.

Read this as 3.5 stars. The architecture and design of what was the old City Hall gets 5 stars . It is one of many old downtown Beaufort historic buildings that have an incredible amount of charm and architectural appeal. The way the current owners designed it inside, gives it a real wow factor. This is a combined specialty store and restaurant. The products, like sauces, soups, oils, baskets, line tea towels, produce, wines, cheeses, etc are all displayed with an artistic and beautiful touch. There are tables scattered about this large space and we easily found a spot to dine one early morning. We had already gotten used to the warm southern welcomes most folks around here give you but our waitperson while efficient wasn't welcoming at all which was an immediate disappointment. The breakfast menu is enticing and prices are good. I ordered a roasted vegetable egg scramble with a sausage link, cheddar biscuit and side of fruit. The dish was tasty and the vegetables were roasted perfectly with just enough oil. The eggs however should have stayed in the pan another minute or so because they were a bit runny. As for the side of fruit, it was just okay and sadly rather ordinary and heavy on the red grapes. The fresh fruit choices could have been done with more finesse and a better nod to what is available in the late spring in the south. The sausage link was a thick one and quite spicy and delicious. I am avoiding wheat and grains these days but I couldn't resist a couple of bites of that biscuit which was flaky and good. My husband got scrambled eggs, sausage patties, skillet potatoes and a cheddar biscuit. He ate it all up and thought his meal was great. Because we had already had plenty of coffee at our hotel, we just drank ice water. The bathroom was clean and pleasant. Overall we enjoyed our breakfast very much. And we very much enjoyed the lovely ambiance of this grand old building. We would have loved a more inviting waitperson but you can't win them all, even in the south. I shall leave her nameless although we do know what it is. We're hoping this will serve as a reminder to all the staff here that a smile and a few welcoming words go a long way to making a good visit great.

This is a lovely new addition to Beaufort. It's both a market and a little cafe for breakfast/lunch. They apparently do have dinner sometimes as well. We actually went there twice while visiting Beaufort. My husband had the pimento grilled cheese sandwich and was in complete heaven. I had the tuna salad, and it was very good, but nothing special. The biscuits are delicious and it looked like they have some great salads. We went back again and I had the burger, which was also very good. My husband tried his hand at the BLT, which was somewhat of a letdown but still very good. The lady next to us had the crab cakes, and she raved about them. I wish I had tried them! All in all it's a really cool building, with some great grocery items and some really great menu items. The staff is very nice, but it can be a long wait if you hit right during their rush.

Love the building, but the food and service are below average. I have eaten here a dozen times, each time hoping for improvement...but, no, it's been downhill all the way. Remember when they had a full-time butcher and you thought we might have something? No, I can do better at home. Let the foolish tourists eat here...

I must give this gem of a place 5 stars because they gave me absolutely no reason not to do so. If I had been shopping for bell peppers on the day I visited, the rating would suffer due to bad vegetables I saw in their bins. But we stopped in for lunch (which seems to be their specialty) and had a great experience. Service was quick, staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable. The burger I ate was huge and one of the juiciest I've ever had. My wife had a wrap special that she thoroughly enjoyed. The chips that came with our lunches were outstanding as well. So often fresh made potato chips are too crunchy for me, but my wife and I both thought these struck a perfect balance. After ordering, make sure to explore the building and appreciate the remarkable restoration work. The design, the colors, the cleanliness. All spot on. I'll definitely drive out of my way to eat here again next time I'm close by.

Sometimes you find it hard to believe the hype when reading peoples reviews. We have eaten here several times for breakfast. This place puts out an amazing meal time and time again. You get the look and feel of old time Beaufort when eating here. Everything taste fresh and looks it as well. The reason this place is #1 is it the best place to eat in town. Go elsewhere and you will end up here or leave reading reviews wishing you had stopped here.

Ooey. Gooey. Oh my. So good. It's a grilled pimento cheese sandwich with bacon and this garlic pepper jelly. They sell the jelly, I recommend you get some. It's the perfect name for this sandwich, it's all melty and delicious, the consistency is perfect. I, however, did not get the Ooey gooey (I had several bites though, much to my boyfriend's dismay). I ordered the oyster po'boy which was also very good. Really good bread, very important on a po'boy. The sides (potato salad and macaroni) that came with both were just eh. The place is super cute too.

This place was amazing. My father and I went to this place for brunch and ordered eggs, toast and sausage. The food was great, and the fresh orange juice I had ever had. The coffee was excellent and the employees were young and very generous. They made easy conversation and also offered us a drink to take with us when we were heading out. Most of the food is local grown and fresh. Besides all of this, the restaurant looks beautiful, has a high raised ceiling and it used to be the old city hall. Plus, the restroom was clean and very bright. This place deserves a 5 star review at the least.

Was really excited to go and try this place. Looked very cute and loved the atmosphere. Went on a Sunday. My husband read other reviews raving about the burger. He tried to order one (which was on the menu that was handed to us), and to our disappointed, we were told they don't serve burgers on Sunday, because they need the grill space for eggs and potatoes (there were only 3 tables that were occupied...how much space for eggs do you need?). My husband then tried to order the Philly, and again told it wasn't served on Sundays. At this point we were ready to walk out. I felt like asking, is there anything you serve on Sunday? My husband had a chicken sandwich, which was saturated with mayo, and was unbelievably messy. The Mac and cheese salad was bland, nothing special about it. The homemade chips had a slight burnt taste, and were soggy in some places. The shrimp po' boy was just okay. No sides were included with the sandwiches, making you pay extra for lousy sides. The meal was overpriced for the quality. Was really hoping this place would be great, but very disappointing. I would suggest this place come up with a menu specifically for Sunday, so you know what you can actually order. If you go on a Sunday, keep in mind you can only get breakfast or something from the deep fryer. The chips need a makeover. I would have rather opened a bag of chips they sell in the market and ate their homemade ones.

Delicious lunch for four. Crab cake special was tasty, but the roll overwhelmed the sandwich. Perfect unsweetened iced tea and chilled wine, and the little one loved the PB&J with the LCP Berry Berry jelly. Chips were a little greasy. OK service. Overall, great decor but a teense lackluster.

We just love Lowcountry Market. Great selection of local jellies/jams, fresh pasta and what-nots that you can take home and enjoy. Their lunch is very tasty..from the bbq cheese burger to a pimento grilled sandwich or a good ol' Po boy. Prices are reasonable!

Great - the only reason I am adding to their long list of great reviews, is to say the even in the off season - this is great. This was my fist time here - only problem - what to get if you are only visiting once. I went for the Famous Burger and it did not disappoint. One person had the three salad sample - all were great

I read the previous reviews, and they've definitely brought you to the right place. Now, let's get down and dirty. Photos include the inside, my meal, and the menu. This is definitely the hottest new (informal) ticket in town, and it should be. Now that they're in downtown Beaufort, I've told my aunt this is our first stop on her next journey down to visit the alligator in our backyard. They've got a few small kinks. I walked in on lunch hour for a to-go order, and I had a humdinger of a time figuring out who was in charge. But that was sorted in about a minute, and they were so friendly about it. Honestly, I've seen formal restaurants in business for years that were less organized, so I wasn't about to get cranky. The order took a bit of time, understandable since it was packed, but good to know if you're a local on a schedule. If not, even a five-minute wait is not a problem. This place is like the Disneyland of Southern canned goods. Sweet and savory jellies, preserves, honey, pickles, chutneys, peppers. It's like a B.Y.O.Melba.Toast party. The to-go order time passed quickly, and before I knew it, I was in possession of a burger larger than my hand, covered in bacon. This is definitely not something the arteries could take every week, or maybe even every month, but man, it was rocking. So, for those who are used to just walking into a restaurant full of tables in a small town, expect to spend a little time, because it's so new, and so popular, and so tasty. I mean, I even saw a priest in slacks and full collar coming out of restroom while I was there, though I didn't manage to get a picture of that. How much higher of a recommendation do you want?

  • Leah Q.

Yeah baby! This place is so beautiful, so classy, so delicious! It's definitely a great little "farmer's market" for your gourmet desires! I guess we could have sat down, but my friends and I used the space as a deli and ate outside on the porch of a church. A little picnic is never better than when it has delicious fresh baguette. This is definitely a specialty shop/diner, but ideally, we'd all be shopping in beautiful spaces filled with local, thoughtful food. Check out the canned goods!

I cannot believe this place has almost 5 stars. The renovation of the building is great! I love the building. But the food is meh. It's very meat and carb based. The menu is so basic-hot dogs!! sandwiches, boring salad, terrible pimento cheese. The Greek pita is only Greek cuz they add feta to a cheddar filled pita. Odd. The other day they opened for dinner. The manager was less than thrilled I came in with kids, but hey-they needed to eat. The waitress was super nice despite her embarrassment that the management was measuring out by ounce my wine pour. Not very interesting food but a cute place to shop.

Food = 4 (great selection of dine-in and take-away items) Price = 4 Experience = 5 (what a great space... they have music from time to time too. This place gets a 5 because of the great space and good service)

Awesome dining experience. Has a wonderful breakfast and it was cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive and polite and a pleasure. The owner/manager chatted us up and we got some really nice local info that we took advantage of some scenery that we would have otherwise missed. The building is a fantastic piece of local history. Next time through we will not miss an opportunity to eat here. A most enjoyable place to eat.

My oh my, this place is bougie. The space itself is gorgeous, they did an incredible job renovating City Hall. I loved just walking around the store and checking out the architecture in addition to the high-end eats. We didn't get a chance to stay for lunch as the wait was an HOUR (ridiculous), but I'd certainly like to come back. As for the market, they've got your normal array of specialty goods and it's all presented beautifully. A decent wine selection although the beer fridge was sorely lacking. They've got meats, cheeses, and baked goods along with local produce. It seemed a little harried and confusing in there-- we weren't sure where to go to see about getting a table, and to be honest I didn't see a lot of people actually dining there: just about 2 big tables and that was it.

Lowcountry Produce has come to City Hall! It's the same wonderful grill and produce that you are used to in the original farm stand, but now it is in the freshly renovated City Hall building. The best part is that it's even better with the wonderful space.

One of my favorite places in the entire world. I love their home cooked style southern food. Especially the breakfast! Seriously yummmmm. Its a good thing we moved to California because I would go broke eating at this place everyday.

Beautiful restaurant! Great food, pimento cheese is amazing! I ordered the Ooey Gooey, a sandwich with grilled pimento cheese, bacon, and the house made pepper jelly. Best thing I've ever eaten. I highly recommend!

I wanted to order half the menu, but instead I got the BBQ Cheddar Bacon Burger and then finished my wife's Salad sampler with Pimento Cheese, Chicken & Egg salad. As far as the burger, it was amazing! as for the Salad sampler, it was fantastic. I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

We had the pleasure of lunch while on vacation on Fripp Island! The ooey gooey pimento sandwich was heavenly!!! I decided to take home treats to family and friends...should have saved them all for me hahaha The Pepper Jelly is the best ever and the picked garlic is wonderful!! Can't wait to revisit and stock up!!! It is a long drive from Franklin, Tenn. but well worth the trip!

Stopped into Beaufort driving up from Savannah to Charleston and had quite an appetite. We stumbled upon LCP and had an excellent lunch. Not only was the food fresh, extremely flavorful, but the old building was lovingly restored and the market full of delicious canned items and cases of fresh cuts of meat, fresh baked bread and sweet treats.

My favorite place to eat lunch in Beaufort. However, recently I ate lunch there and they changed their Macaroni Cheddar Salad. It used to be the best, but that day it tasted like any other macaroni salad. The greek hero is delicious as well as the Ooey Gooey (pimento grilled cheese with bacon)! Yum,

Stopped in here for a sandwich with my mother while on vacation in South Carolina. Service was extremely friendly, personal and prompt. I thought the prices were reasonable and all three of us were very pleased with our food.

This place is awesome! I went to breakfast and got the berry pancakes. They were amazing! The fresh squeezed orange juice was the best I ever had. They sell all kinds of cool things in the store, even fresh fruits and veggies. Every now and then you can see the cooks coming out to grab fresh produce from the retail side. Everyone was nice and the service was great!

simple but very tasty menu. And a full bar -- who knew??!! The Friday night jazz series is a great way to welcome the weekend. Vic Varner's smooth guitar and voice offer a class touch -- a great casual wind-down venue
