So, went to this place last night, and after being called homosexualÅ› we were seated, given chips and salsa from another table, they literally brought it from the table that just left....that's fine, I don't care, but the service was so slow, it felt like I was in that movie with Rosie Odonnell, the one where she plays a retard.."riding the bus with my sister" that's what it was! That's what the service at this place was like...riding the bus with my retard sister! Ugh, save yourself the pesos and go to another "happy to be in the usa workers" restaurant!

The Best around Beaufort. Very good all the time they have excellent food. Excellent, did I mention this food was excellent, because it is.

I'm only giving one star because YELP has no ranking for a dying star. If you're a discriminating eater like me, avoid this place and go with your first choice which was Taco Bell. Both have the same smell but Taco Bell at least offers you hot sauce. Bad service, sticky menus, sketchy booths, and only 2 soft tortillas to an order. Food has a special seasoning called none! I didn't finish my meal and was going to bring the remainder home for my dog but I couldn't be so cruel. And she eats poop.

La nopalera is defiantly not worth 5 stars. But being from the west side of the country it's extremely hard to find good Mexican food on the east side. Best I could find in Beaufort, service is slow but there were only two servers that I saw on so it wasn't their fault. When they had a chance to come to our table they were very friendly. Will be coming back:)

WOULD NEVER COME HERE!!! My husband and I ordered 2 horchatas to go and they were awful. Not to mention it was 9.77$ for both of them! So I asked for a refund and the girl, who refused to give me her name stated that they wouldn't issue it because the manager wasn't in. She asked a server there and he said it wasn't their fault that it wasn't any good because it came from a box. I was obviously upset because 10$ was wasted and no one would assist me. Finally the server was irritated and told the girl to just give me the money back. And she slammed the money on the counter and I kept asking her for her name and she walked away from me. She's a short heavy set younger Hispanic girl. I would absolutely NEVER EVER come to this la nopalera. Go anywhere else! Matter of fact go to the Mexican restaurant over on lady's island next to the rite aid! They have EXCELLENT horchata and its more inexpensive than crappy la nopalera. HORRIBLE!! NEVER GO.

This is the first time I had ever been here due to being new to the area. I ordered enchiladas supremas and the tomato that came on top of the dish was growing mold. Yes, I actually mean mold. So there is no telling how long it has been out for. Margarita was decent, but that's it. In addition to the very unsanitary food, the service sucked. Don't waste your time

Good food even if not completely authentic. Better than my husband and I expected to find. Portions were large, food came FAST, friendly staff, and prices were so cheap it was ridiculous! We enjoyed this and planned to come back, unfortunately it burned down the week after so I'm unsure of its quality and staff since the fire.

The second we were seated we had chips and salsa in front of us. Started off with a margarita picture and cheese dip. Both were served to is in 5 mins or less. Margarita was actually strong and well worth it. We both got fajitas. Food came quick. Was hot and the prices are extremely reasonal. We will be back.

Since moving to the Savannah area this past April, I have been in search of quality Mexican food. Every town in America should have at least one jam-up Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, I failed to find it in Lanopalera. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with this place. The lunch buffet offers many options, and the service, as with most Mexican restaurants, is very accomodating and friendly. Lots and lots of potential, yet somehow it falls short of being mine and Kimberley's go-to place for good Mexican food. Ahh, the search continues...

This place has SUCH potential, but was SUCH a let-down! My cousin and his wife live in Beaufort, which is a beautiful, small military town. He was raving to us about the "authentic" Mexican food in this place..and of course we had to try it. Let me start off by saying that the food was amazing. All four of us had the, fajita quesadillas, the California burrito, the chimichanga with "red sauce" and a taco, burrito and enchilada platter. It was all well-cooked and the serving sizes were enormous. It tasted like Tex-Mex to me, but hey, I've never had "Authentic" Mexican food before. My reason for deducting two stars was the service, or should I say lack-thereof service? We sat down and waited ten minutes to be waited upon. Let me also say that besides one other couple, we were the only ones in the restaurant. When our waitress did arrive, she looked at us and said "drinks?" very rudely. We ordered and were laughing our butts off asking where Ashton was, because surely we were on Punkd. Approximately 12 minutes later, a man arrives with our drinks. We spent 60$ and had great food, but were treated like we were a bother to the wait-staff and from what my cousin was saying, this isn't the first time they have been treated like this. Well sorry, Lanopalera, you've lost my business! Loved your quesadillas, but I'll try a cheaper and more friendly place.

Food was good, although the fish taco fillets were chopped up on the grill. I really wanted some lime and hot sauce for them but our 'waitress' never came back except to bring the check. When ordering, she turned around to leave twice before we were finished with what we wanted to order. My friend enjoyed his fajitas. I won't be back.

As far as Beaufort area Mexican restaurants go, this has always been our favorite. Great service, great food and great prices. Definitely our local "go to" choice for margaritas and a fun Mexican meal.

Best Mexican joint in town...however, I have had better in other cities, that's the only reason for 4 stars.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
