Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

You almost have to like them, because they are the only pizza place in downtown Aiken...ever since Ferrando's moved out (worst decision by a local business ever!). Pro's: the service is always friendly and attentive, they keep the drinks flowing. The bar probably the most selections of beers over any other downtown establishment. Quite surprised to see Fat Tire on draft there. Great location and I hear the lunch buffet is good. The Con's: ehh, I've had better pizza. It doesn't suck and it's better than Pizza Hut or Dominos...but then that's not saying a whole lot is it? Just nothing spectacular here. Oh, and don't sit by the front windows between 6pm and 8pm during the summer - the sun blasts right in on you until it gets behind the trees. :P

Worst experience ever! This place doesn't even deserve one star. We arrived at 7:30 and it was not busy at all. We joined another party for dinner that had arrived before us. We ordered our drinks and attempted to order an appetizer, but our waitress was already walking away and ignored us. 15 minutes later she arrived with our drinks but not the drinks for my 2 children. After we asked for the kids drinks again, she brought them. We placed our dinner order at that time. 30 minutes later, the kids meals arrived and the other party was ready to leave. They asked for their check only to find stuff on it that wasn't theirs. Our waitress came out to inform us that they were out of "feta noodles" for our calzones. I was a bit confused because our calzone did not come with "feta noodles" but it was supposed to have feta cheese. She said she would let the cook know it was feta cheese and not noodles. Another 20 minutes past and the kids had finished their meals. We flagged the waitress down and asked for our check and for our calzone to be put in a to go box. She said they were not charging for the calzone because of the mix up. When we got our bill it had someone elses food and ours on it. She said not to worry about it because the calzone was taken off the bill so it should all "even out". At this point we asked for a manager. The manager came over and we crossed off the food on the bill that was not ours, asked for a correct bill, our calzone to go, and gave her money to pay our bill. She said she was sorry that our pasta was taking so long to be cooked, so once again we told her we did not order any type of pasta. She came back with the calzone in a box and said the waitress had messed up so many orders that they couldn't get us a correct bill, and our meal was free. We couldn't get out of that place fast enough. Parties with more people in them, came, ate and left before we even got our food! Once we got home to finally enjoy our calzone that took 2 hours to make, it wasn't even made correctly. We can't wait for Mellow Mushroom to open up and put this place out of business!

I really do like the Pizza Joint a lot. The pizza is always very good, and the atmosphere is nice. It is more like a bar so expect noise. They have a great selection of pizza, calzones, and sandwiches that are all very good and not too expensive. It can get crowded on the weekend so just be sure to plan accordingly.

Our weekly guys night hangout, great beer selection, great specials and great pie! My only wish is that they would add more sports channels so we can watch Thursday night NFL and more NHL games......hint hint.

I really liked this place. Laid back, free wifi, a wall full of beer taps, corner pizza place prices. I had a sandwich that was great. Not where you go for a sit-down business dinner, but I don't think that's their goal. Great place to get that much-better-than-quiznos sandwich along with a craft beer. Or pizza with a craft beer, I dunno - I don't order pizza very much. Maybe just a craft beer. Mmmmmmm, beer. Love it when you get to choose from 20 or so craft breweries.

We had eaten at the other Pizza Joint in Augusta last time we flew out this way, so we knew that we liked it. So when we thought of pizza, we immediately thought of this place. Luckily, we found a location in Aiken. We Placed an order for pickup. When we got there early, we were instructed to go to the bar and let the lady working the bar know that we were picking up. The bar area was pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon, and there was only one lady working it. We had to wait a few minutes before she got to us because of this. But, when she did get to us, our pizzas were boxed already and ready. We paid quickly and got out. And just like last time, the pizza was great. I'm glad that we got a large! I wish that the slices were cut a little smaller, but maybe that's just my "In Hollywood, portions are smaller" mentality. Can't wait to eat this pizza again. Don't think we'll explore other spots. What's the point? The Pizza Joint is great!

We came in from out of town and decided to give them a try. Huge mistake! I can't even say the pizza was a plate of hot garbage because it was lukewarm garbage. The dough was undercooked and there was probably a half cup of flour on the bottom of the soft crust. The server was nice but disappeared for long stretches and delivered our appetizer to the wrong table. When they finally arrived the "famous" dough balls were cold and inedible. I love the town but will never eat here or any of the other locations.

I've had good experiences here and I've had bad experiences here. My last two have not been very good. The time before last, the waitress took my order and went outside to get on the phone. I think she may have had a family issue, but I sat there for 50 minutes before I got my lunch, and this was during the work week. The last time I went here, my pizza came out cold. I sent it back, it came out cold again. I sent it back the second time, it came out cold the 3rd time. The prices are reasonable for lunch, but they need to tighten things up or I'll stop going!

Very, very slow service. The food isn't even that good for the wait. There was a girl with long, thick hair that had her hair down and she was playing with it around the food. They should at least have their hair pulled back. Very unprofessional. Just looked like a lot of kids that didn't know how to provide good service. I can't wait till mellow mushroom comes to Aiken. They're still not super fast, but its faster than the PJ and way better food.

Great pizza and great product. I had the meat lovers calzone. The server was nice and kept the drinks full. The wait for the pizza is verrrry long and the only reason I am only giving 3 stars.

Took a day trip to Aiken to explore their cute downtown area. Had no clue what to expect, just wandered around hoping for inspiration to strike as to where to have lunch. We were tempted by a few places on Laurens St. (I think??) but found ourselves wandering down a side street and stumbled upon The Pizza Joint. A good find! Our server was very friendly. My husband had the Philly cheese steak and I had the veggie calzone. The calzone was stuffed with great ingredients and came with a very fresh tasting marinara sauce for dipping. My husband said the cheese steak 'wasn't bad' and this is pretty high praise from a Philadelphia native for any cheese steak made outside of Philadelphia. Very enjoyable afternoon.

After over an hour of waiting.....I had to walk out. no food, no "we are sorry". Just cooks singing and lol'n and some annoying guy happy abt a 20$ tip as he dances all over the damn place. If food is cooked in order ...why ppl that came in after us done eating and we still have no food?!!! Never again !!! -- feeling aggravated

Here we go again. Decided to try pizza joint again after almost a year. Use to get weekly. Service was slow and we each had a Slice pizza and they were warm at best. Salads came after the pizza. No 1000 island. Gave 2 stars for the tea. Although you could hardly get a refill. Looking forward to mellow mushroom.

Great weather to sit outside & enjoy a basket of fried mushrooms & a slice of pizza! The mushrooms were hot & crispy, and the pizza was fresh and cheesy with crunchy crust and gooey cheese! The waiter was quick and attentive, and we will be back!

I have been in Aiken 3 weeks and I can't resist this place. They have good beers on tap and good service. The pizza is good too. I mean how can you screw up pizza but it is good none the less. I hear this is a chain but I like it. It is definitely 2 $'s ($$) compared to the rest of down town which is mostly $$$-$$$$. Not a big fan of the fancy stuff when I want a beer and some grub!

What happen, our server was great but the food has gone down , cheese pizza was not cooked in the middle,, calzone was burned on the bottom and the stromboli was skimpy filled and also burned on the bottom. It took us 45 minutes to get it, the waitress keep us filled with the bread sticks we ordered and drinks and she keep checking on our order. We even notice others that came in after us got there orders first. ???? whats up with that, two adults and one child at our table. anyway apparently we did not order beer. in My Humble Opinion has gone down since our last visit. so probably one more chance and then we will move on We tried several more times this past year we have moved on. Sadd use to be a great place we have

I frequent Pizza Joint, but my last visit wasn't the best. My boyfriend and I entered the restaurant, and was greeted by one of the waitresses. We choose a table and waited about 15 minutes for some to serve us before we decided to leave. No one asked what we wanted to drink, or gave us menus. They were busy, but one of the waitresses had served the table beside us that had come in after we did. How could you not have noticed us? She was the one that greeted us when we came in!! I'm hoping for a better service next time.

  • Tom B.

Good beer selection. Waitress advised that pizzas take about 10 minutes to prepare while sandwiches take 20. Didn't sound right but we took her advice. 40 minutes later or pizza came out. It took us too long to realize it was under cooked. Thanks for the runs Pizza Joint.

I want to love Pizza Joint; a local Pizza restaurant with 30 beers on tap and one of the only places in Aiken where a vegetarian can be sure to find something. Great right? How can you go wrong with that combination? Well, first thing you can do is not have the pizza just right. We ordered the veggie pizza with broccoli substituted for the olives, which was absolutely no problem. Even with a special request, they got it right. Unfortunately, the middle of the pizza was soggy. No bueno! I don't know if this is a technique issue or a training issue (maybe oven wasn't hot enough) but it needs to be fixed if the restaurant wants to become great. If it was just our pie that had this problem, then it's one of inconsistency, which is just as bad. When we ordered our pizza, we also ordered a sandwich, but after the pizza came out, we ended up waiting another 10 minutes for the sandwich. Again, another one of these things that shouldn't happen at a restaurant. If the sandwich takes longer to cook, put it in the oven first, then do the pizza. Train the kitchen staff to anticipate differences in time so both can go to the table, together, straight from the oven. So our pizza just sat in the middle of the table, (getting cold) while we waited for the sandwich to come out of the kitchen. Also, if there are issues, don't tell me about them. I do not want to hear that the kitchen is super busy, and don't use that as an excuse as to why things aren't going perfectly. So, Pizza Joint, I offer this criticism honestly and constructively; get your shit together. I want you to be great, so get on top of this.

As a pizza lover, I was excited when another "local" pizza place opened in Aiken. I love Fernando's, but, I mean hello, that is part of what makes NYC so great for pizza! Lots of delicious different interpretations. We ordered to-go, and the pizza's were ready right on time. We got two 14inch pies, one cheese, one pepperoni. It was $22.86. The best way to describe the crust is sturdy. Not really super crispy, but not soggy either. It didn't really have great flavor. That would have been okay if the cheese had been super fresh and flavorful. It wasn't. Now onto the sauce. A bit to spicy for my taste. I had a slice of cake an hour or so after we had eaten the pizza, and all I could really taste was the pizza sauce. To me the 3 main components of the pizza are suppose to work together, and I don't really feel like that was happening. The pizza wasn't bad, but if I want something okay, I will call Papa John's and save myself some money. Would I go back here? Probably with a group of people, but I am not going to choose to go here just for great pizza.

  • Tripzy D.

The pizza is alright at best. It sure ain't winning any contests anytime soon. But that's not the real problem with this place. It's the ridiculous wait. You'll get your food before you get a refill on your beverage. On the real talk, this has happened, everytime I've been there. Their saving grace is their dirt cheap prices...which considering, not wonder. But don't hold this against the Augusta location. I've never tried it myself, but trusted foodies promise it's totally different.

Tried out the Pizza Joint on the hunt to satisfy a late night food craving in Aiken, South Carolina. The atmosphere has a mom & pop store vibe. There's an open kitchen where you can see them prepping the pizzas. There's also a bar area in the back of the restaurant, where it looks like a decent amount of people were hanging out. Upon server recommendation, we tried out the garlic knots with garlic butter sauce. Honestly, they weren't that good. Kind of dry with no flavor to them. If you drench them in the garlic butter sauce though, it helps a little. The server was also something else.. She was really nice, but kind of loopy.. She would make awkward jokes or say peculiar things. Nice girl though.. The pizza took a while to come out of the kitchen. We were super starving by the time it came out. It was DELICIOUS though!! We got the "Big One." The pizza was nice and hot. Good tasting dough with a generous amount of toppings. They had beer pitchers at a decent price. Overall, not a bad place to hang out and get some late night food.

When our mushroom/sausage pizza looked like it should be good..crust looked golden...hard to find the sausage but what the heck. In reality, it was soggy and tasteless. I never have had to salt pizza before in my life but I did here. Too much cheese and the sausage looked more like sausage dust than italian sausage. Won;t be doing this one again...I am sure the beer is good ;)

Scenario: Recommended by the locals for cheap pizza and beer. Product: It was Tuesday, thank goodness! $2 pizza slices, $2 drafts, and $2 off wings! The wings were average. The beer was of a wide variety. The pizza was pretty tasty, especially the Mediterranean, and the slices are HUGE. Very good quality for the Tuesday prices. Other days of the week have specials too. Service: Service was attentive and timely. The staff was friendly, though a little absent minded when it came to asking for boxes and the check. The waitress offered to split checks up front, which was a pleasant surprise. Atmosphere: Kind of a trimmed down TGIF with a few TVs playing, music, booths, and a bar. It wasn't too busy. A bit of eye candy was a plus;) Uniquity: They have Tuesday night deals on lock down! A deal that can't be beat.

Not bad beer specials (I've paid as little as 95 cents) and quite a selection of beers on tap, as well as bottles. The pizza is not bad (I'm not a big fan of their crusts though) Free wifi.

  • Fred F.

Pizza is OK, but no better than that. The problem is that the staff, while friendly, seem to be totally unable to handle more than about 5 customers at a time. I have eaten there many times because friends insisted, but when you have a group of anything over 5 or 6, it's possible to wait an hour to even have them take your order, and then the orders will trickle out of the kitchen over the space of another one to two hours. It's just not good enough to warrant waiting that long. But it's the only game in town if you want pizza in downtown Aiken, so people keep going.
