After a long day of hiking the Augusta National terrain we pointed the truck north to Charlotte. Our stomachs told us it was time for dinner. YELP suggested Casa Bella and we were in for a culinary treat. Their old Victorian home serves a a warm and comfortable atmosphere for some great Northern Italian. Sit out side an enjoy a tranquil spot to RELAX! A professional wait staff made great recommendations. Wine list offered quality choices, by the glass and that glorious red sauce! We had lasagna, chicken parm and veal and our consensus was....10+! Make a reservation or call ahead as it is a bit of a ride from 77 but I wouldn't hesitate again to visit Casa Bella. Charlotte needs an Italian restaurant with the quality and authenticity of this great eatery!

the 4 stars is mainly for the food and the building.... i was going to give it 3 stars but their food is really good.... I ate there about a year ago. The ambience is nice and quiet, a little on the small-town romantic side... its in an old house that has been converted into a restaurant,,, quite charming! The hostess greeted us in kindly.. although it took them a few minutes to realize we were there (just sayn) Because we didn't want to do a 'romantic dinner' type evening we sat at the bar. The bartender was kind of snobby ..he wasn't rude or anything but he had a stick up his @$$...and his cocktail skills were eh.. ..i quickly switched to wine The food is great, fresh ingredients made from scratch... i had a mussel pasta dish and my fiance ordered the spaghetti & meatballs.... both plates were delicious! the prices are higher than most people are used to however i think it was worth it considered the quality of the food. overall pretty good place, I would go back for the food only... not a big fan of snobby joints....i expect a more humble, warm, welcoming environment from an italian restaurant.... everyone was very stiff and attitudes were dry :( If you want to take someone there on a romantic date you will nail it with this restaurant.. it will be romantic... but it wont be fun....

My boyfriend and I went there tonight for dinner. We traveled all the way from Augusta GA because of the reviews and it was well worth it. The ambiance is very intimate and great for a date night. Between us We had the lasagna, veil, a bottle of wine, cannoli and a tiramisu for $120 including tip. ! Perfect pricing for the food quality and the diligent wait staff. If I come back to the area I would definitely come back to casa Bella , although I would love to sit out in the garden next time.

My husband and I dined at Casa Bella early Friday evening for the first time. We both enjoyed our meal very much. We started with the crab cocktail, which at $15 was a bit pricey, but the amount of crab was ample for two and the horseradish remoulade was excellent. We followed that with a house salad. While I loved the balsamic vinaigrette, which was the only choice given, John found it a little strong for his taste, especially after he allowed the addition of cracked pepper. In other words, it made him cough repeatedly. John had the lasagna as his entree. He remarked that it needed more cheese. I on the other hand had the Chilean sea bass Francese with risotto and a fresh vegetable mix. I was completely pleased with my meal. Because it was my birthday, we finished off the meal with a shared piece of extreme chocolate cake and ice cream. A very delicious meal. Our server Jennifer provided just enough attention but did not hover or interrupt unnecessarily. We will go back.

I have been to Casa Bella several times over the past couple of years. Ambiance is super! Wait staff is pretty good, but on the slow side. Food quality is good, but generally pretty bland. Their fresh baked bread and garlic oil are yummy! Value wise, I think it is definitely overpriced for what you get. (Think big city prices in a small town.). If you take everything into account I give it an overall three stars.

We have been to Casa Bella many times over the past 5 years and have never had a complaint. The food is classic italian and absolutely delicious. The staff is pleasant and attentive. We have eaten inside as well as outside. We take our young children with us and they are always accommodating.

Enjoyed a superb dinner tonight at Casa Bella. This was our first visit--but we will definitely return. Staff was warm and yet professional. Our server, Lauren, was terrific. My husband and our guest had the Caesar Salad to start and I chose the Arugula. Both were excellent, dressed with a perfect touch. As other reviewers have commented, the bread with roasted garlic & olive oil is "killer". For entrees, my husband had Osso Bucco (he raved) , our friend had. Chicken Parmesan ("delicious") and I had the Sea Bass Mediterranean. The fish was perfectly cooked and topped with a vegetable chocked white wine marinara--light but rich in flavor and piping hot. The risotto --well, I knew I was in Aiken, but if I closed my eyes I was in Italy. To top it off, we shared Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce and the Chocolate. Tiramisu. Absolutely worth the extra workout tomorrow. Have to mention the setting, as well. Casa Bella occupies a beautiful 1897 home, one of our favorites in Aiken.

The quality of food and service is exceptional at Casa Bella. Love their Lasagna! Try their antipasto too, you will not be disappointed!

The atmosphere is very relaxing and upscale. The service was friendly, the food was enough to share and very yummy. I can't wait to visit my daughter at USCA an go again.

Great authentic Italian food. It is somewhat expensive, but you get a lot of food unlike many other high price restaurants. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Aiken.

Like another writer I would have to question the culinary experience of these reviewers. The food was very bland, oily and pricey. I would give this a one star if it was based solely on the food. On a positive note the service and ambience was good.

Fine dining deliciousness! This is a small restaurant and we follow other reviewer's advice and made a reservation. Glad we did, it was outstanding. Caesar salad with fresh anchovies - YUM! I had a veal dish which was very good and our service was also good. It is a romantic, classy place and was worth the drive from Augusta.

This place is so cute and romantic. I am so happy to find an authentic good Italian restuarant with great service! The food is very, very good, and they are willing to change the entrees according to your needs (as I am a vegetarian). The entrees are all served with a salad/soup and delicious sour dough bread paired with a dish of olive oil and roasted garlic (Yum!!!) I will definetly be going back there! It is pricey, but completely worth it! You pay for what you get. Delicious wine too. There is also outdoor seating with a very pretty couryard. It was too hot to sit outside when we went, but once it gets cooler I will definetly sit out there.

I was here a couple days ago with a friend and everything I tried was amazing. I had the lasagna, caesar salad, and tiramisu for dessert. I tried my friend's veal piccata and loved every bite of everything I tried. Great service!

Dinner for four last night. Food was delicious. We were shocked when my husband ordered bleu cheese dressing, was told they don't have it but for an extra $1.00 he could get bleu cheese crumbles added to his salad. When we acted surprised the waiter commented "I'm only a messenger". We spent $128.00 for the meal, including the $1.00 for the cheese. When dining at a fine restaurant and spending that kind of money, I find it "tacky" to charge $1.00 extra for such a small "add on". So beware when ordering anything not "on the menu".

  • Melencia J.

Delicious! The best eggplant Parmesan I've ever had! The garlic dipping oil for the bread was great as well. The ambiance wasn't your typical Italian restaurant style. The waitstaff was very friendly. Just beware when they ask if "you would like to add" anything to any part of your meal (salad, entree, or dessert) there will be an additional charge. I must say that the chocolate cake was a great ending to a great meal.

Dinner - Jul 8 & 9, 2015 Excellent both nights. First night I had the special Filet Migon. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. Prepared with gorgonzola cheese and marsala sauce. Excellent. 2nd night - a more modest rigatoni with sausage and peppers. Loved it. Both nights I had the tomato & mozzelrella salad and a tomato bisque. Top notch. Ambience is classy. Bar tenders were excellent, drinks well prepared and wine pours generous. I will return next time I am in Aiken.

Best Italian restaurant in the Augusta-Aiken area. On par with great Italian restaurants in Atlanta. Very nice atmosphere. Delicious food and good service. Only criticism is that the wine selection is just average.

When I rate a restaurant it is just a snapshot of my experience. I have found that Yelp ratings are normally higher than they should be, with that said. The seating may be cramped, service is generally good. The food is exceptional. My only complaint is that it is located in Aiken and not Augusta, yet it is well worth the trip.

Always good food and service. One of our " go to's" when in Aiken. Best antipasto and always great seafood choices plus all the basic Italian dishes.

Wonderful dining experience! We came to Casa Bella without making a reservation and were prepared to have a long wait, but they found us a perfect table. The food was great and the staff was absolutely superb! The atmosphere was light and laughter rang out throughout. Will definitely go again.

Another delightful and delicious visit to Casa Bella! We look forward to dining at this outstanding Italian restaurant every time we visit Aiken. Everything on the menu is perfectly prepared and served by a friendly staff. The quality of food and service are complemented by the ambiance of this classy old house. Brian the bartender is the best and had fun chatting with the owners.

Fantastic meal! My husband and I were visiting Aiken and wanted a good Italian experience. We arrived on foot and underdressed but were greeted very warmly by Susan who was also our server. If they offer Parmesan Risotto get it!! The roasted garlic in olive oil with the amazing crusty bread started us off on a brilliant note! it didn't stop there. Do yourself a favor and go there!!! Too many compliments. Too little time.

Great dining. This is a must any time I'm in Aiken. Be sure to call for reservations, or go in late. I usually go for a late dinner between 8 and 9 PM when I'm in town.

Good food, great service, idyllic setting in old home in downtown Aiken. We made a reservation, which was probably not necessary, because the place was mostly empty when we arrived at 6pm on a Friday night. The restaurant was full by the time we left at 745pm. Our waitress was attentive and personable. She talked with us about moving to the area, and answered our questions. We both had a caesar salad, which would have been a bust except that we asked for anchovies. The anchovies rescued an otherwise weak dressing. I had shrimp scampi, which was delicious, and my wife had the Chilean sea bass, which was very good, although she thought the sauce was a little too strong, drowning out the flavor of the fish. The portions were big, not huge, and we rolled out of there well satisfied. With a J Lohr Paso Robles merlot, the whole dinner was just over $100. An enjoyable evening.

I found this place on Yelp and being the road warrior that I am I went and tried this place while in Aiken. Trust me when I say this place is fabulous! I had their special for tonight which was Chilean Sea Bass and I had my choice of the way I wanted it prepared. I also met the owners, Arlene and Joe (who is from Italy) while dining. Lovely, friendly people, more than willing to share cooking techniques. For this small town of Aiken, if you come here you MUST dine here. Quite Lovely!!

Outstanding. I found their items extremely good and the service was friendly and very attentive. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is my wife was not overly fond of her dinner. I loved mine.

Last night was the second time we have dined at Casa Bella, though it has been a couple years since our last dinner here. Casa Bella has everything going for it. The restaurant is located in charming downtown Aiken, in an old home. It oozes ambiance. They have a beautiful small outdoor courtyard, which would be wonderful on a nice day. You walk inside the old home and the rooms are a bit small but they make for an intimate setting. Our server was perfect! she was there when we needed her, but not breathing down our necks. My water glass was always full, without having to ask for a refill. I had the filet, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, and beautifully medium rare. My husband had the Chicken Parm, and it looked amazing. He said it was excellent! the 2 others in our party had the Chicken Marsala, and the Lobster special. The Chicken Marsala looked great, and the Lobster disappeared VERY quickly- it must have been great! They bring out fresh baked bread and provide olive oil for dipping- but have butter too. You have a choice of a Caesar or house salad. Both were fresh and crisp. I had a prosecco split, and my husband had a pinot noir. Both were very good and very reasonably priced. This is a great Restaurant for a special occasion, or even if you just want a great Italian meal.

This restaurant is the BEST Italian restaurant I've ever been too!!!! The owner and chef is very friendly, the service and food is awesome! :) I loved their chicken parmesan, it's delicious! :) Since I've eaten at this place anytime I try any other Italian restaurant I've always been disappointed! The restaurant itself is beautiful as well! Love Casa Bella! :)

My first visit was Saturday, two days after Valentines day. The place was BUSY, and PACKED .... so much so that my friends and I had to literally scream at one another to hold a conversation. I don't know if this this the norm, but it was the only annoyance in an otherwise wonderful experience. (Were it not for the high noise level, this would have been a 5-star review.) The food was all good-to-great, and the six people at my table ordered a wide variety of fares. All dishes were prepared in an appetizing manner, and save for the extensive use of [roasted] garlic, most food was mildly seasoned (which suites me fine). Service was top-shelf ... not the quickest, but also not the relentless "in-your-face" service of some restaurants. We were not rushed, in the least, and our 2+hour visit was mostly positive. I will try this restaurant again, but if the noise level is anywhere near what it was this past weekend, it will be my last visit. Good service and good food can't overcome the night-club like volume of the dining rooms. Maybe I'll try it in the middle of the week ...........

Our outing was to celebrate our daughter's sweet 16th birthday. Arrangements were requested upon reservations for a celebratory desert. Nothing elaborate. The atmosphere was charming, and the waiter enjoyable. Although the food was nothing extraordinary, and in hind-site we question the culinary exposure of the individuals that have written glowing reviews, what concerns us most was the aloof attitude of the female manager when we, upon leaving questioned what had happened to the birthday acknowledgment. ( We chose not to embarrass our child at the table) The manager never took any responsibility, stating she did not take the reservation and it was not h fault. No signs of concern, nothing. Her attitude was who cares, now just leave. I get that she was probably embarrassed, but lacked the character to deal with it. 16 comes once. We were disappointed. Should have taken our daughter's second restaurant choice and gone for steaks! K, Georgia

Great little place in downtown. A cozy sort of atmosphere. Decent selection of wines.

Simple (almost generic) italian cuisine, but very well executed. (Personally i would lay off the sprinkling every dish w/ a wheelbarrow of parsely). Maybe not an option for a "foodie" but makes for a lovely date atmosphere. Pricey for the type of food, but perfectly priced for the quality, (the jumbo scallops are indeed jumbo, and quite fresh!). The staff are a perfect addition to said date atmosphere. Knowledgable, and sweet. Not snooty and fake. We've always enjoyed our trips here, and will continue to, when in the mood for italian comfort food.

Two words....Roasted Garlic! The food here is great, always fresh. The restaurant is in a beautiful old house in downtown Aiken.

This restaurant was AMAZING! The service was fantastic, the food was excellent. The flavors were all fresh and delicious. This is the type of place where you go spend a few relaxing hours, just sipping wine, eating fantastic food and then staying for coffee and desert. We are going to go back again and again!!! Probably not the best place for young children, but I saw many older children behaving quite well...

What a delicious dinner. The restaurant is a beautiful old house with a front porch with outdoor seating. Inside the rooms are large with a granite bar in the first room on the left. We sat in this room near a big window that overlooked the side yard that has more outdoor seating. Would have loved to sit outside as it was a beautiful night. The house has a big stone wall in front with a stone archway covered in ivy that welcomes you in. The setting is very inviting. When we arrived we were told they didn't have our reservation. We had made it a month ago so not sure what happened. But she had a table by the bar and it worked just fine for us. Our waiter was a little rushed as he had a lot of tables. But he took good care of us as we weren't in a hurry. It turned out to be a nice relaxing dinner experience. The warm bread is served with a roasted garlic olive oil. So good ! We started with the eggplant rollotini which we shared. The marinara sauce was delicious and the mozarella, proscuitto and spinach stuffing was creamy and perfectly seasoned. I had the caesar salad which was very good. My husband had the house salad and he wished he had gotten the caesar as his house salad had too much dressing. Then I had the veal saltimbuca over liguine. It was fabulous. My husband had seared scallops over risotto which was also killer delicious. We would definately return for another meal and next time confirm our reservations and ask for outdoor seating.

Excellent food and service for a special anniversary dinner last week - rivaling the best we had during a recent 2 week trip to Italy. Shrimp fra diavolo and linguini with meatballs were great.

I have been on a short visit to Aiken and have to admit, the folks in town have done a great job in hiding this gem away from the rest of the country. Not only was the service exquisite, but the food just blew me and my travel companions away. I will definitely return, even if it is just to have dinner here and then to die happily after having the last bite of the Cannoli...

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
