Amazing food and micro-brew. Nut brown Ale was excellent.

I tried to go to two other restaurants before I ended up here, but apparently they had both closed in the last year. Location is everything, and since this joint is on the street corner where I was lost and hungry, I bellied up to Aiken Brewing Co. They have a full bar, and televisions, which is really all I was looking for. They have $3 drafts for happy hour, but no happy hour snack menu-kind of disappointing. Maybe happy hour is not a big thing here in Aiken? My Oktoberfest is pretty tasty and my fajita quesadilla is just fine. What I don't understand is why nobody came to check on me at my bar table or offer me another drink. I like to drink. I probably would have had another if the bartendress had just come out to ask if I wanted another. Maybe it is the policy of the bar that even the bar tables have to come to the bar to order; I do understand that and it would be fine... Except most of the time she was just talking to her coworkers. Maybe if she has downtime she could come help me, seeing as how she isn't doing anything else. The music is good, and she did put the Reds game on for me. If the service was better, I'd click another star. Maybe next time, Brewing Co.

Mostly just go for the beer. Never had one I didn't love. The Mother Plucker Wrap is always good, get extra sauce on in or on the side and it's the tits. I've heard good things about their crab cakes but I don't eat much seafood so I can't speak for it myself.

Stopped in for a Saturday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Kicked off with a Thoroughbred Red (nice strong amber beer) and the shrimp poppers. Wishing I hadn't shared those - wanted their cheesy spiciness all to myself! Finished up with the Yard Bird wrap, which was good, but not as joy-inducing as the shrimp poppers. Hubby had the Mother Plucker Wrap, which he said was good, but he wished there was more buffalo sauce and more cheese in it. We're here for another week, and we'll definitely go back at least once more before heading home!

Their food is good but service can be extremely slow, especially during lunch.

Incredible beer! Mediocre, frozen food. The wings seemed to have greatly improved though (but i mayve just been drunk and in love w/ whatever food was in front of me)

    (4)
  • Paul R.

The food is decent, nothing spectacular. The really hot hot sauce for the wings is one of the beat sauces I have ever eaten. I highly recommend it, beware that is is EXTREMELY hot but very tasty. The beer is pretty good. They usually have six or so home brews along with you regular beer. I recommend drinking their brews, they will not disappoint.

They had some great beers and wings!!! Good service....Good place for friends to get together.

Our usual spot for beers and we love it. It's a laid back atmosphere and staff are very nice. The red is probably the best beer they have on tap.

Great in-house brewed beers! I highly recommend the Czech Pilsner and the Jenny Cream Ale if you like lighter, very easy-drinking beers. The pretzel bites 'appeteaser' were slightly overcooked in my opinion (or maybe that's the way they normally come) but the beer cheese dipping sauce more than made up for it - so good I would bottle it and take it home! The "Mother Plucker" Wrap - Buffalo chicken tenders with pepperjack, lettuce and tomatoes wrapped in flour tortilla - was also very good. It had the perfect amount of heat without being overly spicy. Excellent service at the bar.

I have stopped in this place a couple of times but never stayed for a meal. Kind of reminds me of a basement, not well lit, dusty shelves, and put you to sleep music playing in the background. They have a handful of house made craft beer on any giving night.

On a recent visit, I decided to stop in with a friend. I'd heard good things and I wanted to try it out. Aiken Brewing Company is in downtown Aiken, SC. The area is cute and quaint. Aiken Brewing Company probably falls more so in the bar category than restaurant. The place offers a full menu, but the atmosphere is really that of a bar. I tried the Crab Stuff Mushrooms, which were a hit with me. I had a salad that was not the best, but maybe I wasn't clear on my directions. I wanted to add mushrooms to the salad, they did, but they were cooked and I would have preferred fresh. Unfortunately, I'm not a beer drinker, so I didn't get to experience that. The customer service however was great. Our waitress was very nice. My friend didn't like the seasoning of here steak quesadilla, which she was apprehensive about sending back, but the waitress said that commonly happens with this menu item. The owner was also present and dropped by our table to say hello. The parking situation is much like any downtown and the place offered outdoor seating, which was popular. If you're into beers, do stop by and experience the brews.

Delicious! I wish they brewed their own cider, that would have made this place even better! The shrimp appetizer is amazing, our table went right through it before we could take a picture. I had the club wrap with side salad and raspberry vinaigrette. My friend had the feta vinaigrette, and I LOVED that dressing. I wish I could have taken home a bottle. I'd definitely love to go back and eat outside to people watch :)

Love the brew burger and a few off their brews. Great place to hang out, watch the game and get decent pub food.

Super friendly staff- was able to get a table without waiting even during masters week. Food was pretty good and the beer was tasty. Will return next year!

Go in Thursday Friday Saturday when you can go upstairs! I like the big Tony on the menu. Basically a burger in a tortilla wrap. Music upstairs is good. Beer isn't incredible but there are some really good ones on tap from time to time. They always keep some standard stuff on to please the masses. Nice little hometown spot. Wish they would dump a little money into one serious deep clean and a coat of paint, the atmosphere is pretty great already but I think a few small touch ups would make this place a real great. Some of the tap beers are a bit unfiltered/yeasty tasting when they come out. I'd say it was intentional but it seems to be a common factor. If they'd spend a Sunday giving it a good clean look and replace the beer lines I think I'd never leave. Staff is friendly and bartenders very pleasant. Upstairs is great on weekends. Check it out

Casual atmosphere and great products. I got the jerk pasta and it was an awesome dish. Plenty of food and had some to take for leftovers. The servers are nice and very down to earth. The person I went with got the wings and said they were good. Beer is at a great price for microbrew also!

Was here on a recent Saturday afternoon, seated in the upstairs watching the game and enjoying food and beer with friends and family. The service was good and most all the food was good except one member of our party ordered the fish & chips meal. The portion of fish was so miniscule that it amounted to about four to five bites of fish and a plate of chips. All of the other meals in our party of ten were adult size portions of food. I don't know how this fish & chips meal could even be considered an appetizer as small a portion as it was. Also one person was served the IPA when ordering another variety of beer...twice. I don't know if they ran out or if the waiter got it wrong. Withholding two stars because the portion size of the fish & chips should have never made it out of the kitchen without someone catching this anomaly. Will consider giving them another try.

I stopped in for lunch and enjoyed their Sweet tea and the special Strawberry Pecan Salad with Feta and grilled chicken. I asked them to sub the iceberg for romaine and they did - no problem.! The food was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is casual and pub-like. I would eat here again next time I am in the area.

We really enjoy this place. The food is good pub food and the beer is the bomb! Our kids enjoy the food and sometimes the games upstairs. They do have a large area for private parties. The staff is great, many of them know us on site!

  • B S.

Most importantly a great downtown Brew Pub, I especially enjoy the less filling house Wheat beer. Feels somewhat cramped downstairs, guess that's why patrons enjoy sitting outside - burrrr. Grumpy's has the best sports bar atmosphere and has outdoor seating too.

Last week my boyfriend & I came in to eat lunch & sat at the bar. We sat at the empty bar for almost 10 minutes before we were greeted. Once we decided what we wanted we waited another 5 minutes before the bartender returned. The service just went down hill from there. The only reason why I gave 3 stars is because at night the service is wonderful but the day service is lacking.

    (3)
  • Parinaz S.

their food sucks... but their beers are really good.... the staff downstairs are- well-- whatever-- the bartenders upstairs are usually pretty chill and nice... i give three stars because of the mediocre food.... and also the staircase to go to the top bar always smells like vomit and cigarettes.... if you look closely... the place is pretty filthy... they need a deep cleaning day.... maybe some new paint.... their beer is really good thats what has had us returning in the past

While doing some exploring of downtown Aiken, I got very thirsty and to my luck came across there brewery. I got there honey wheat beer and it is probably one of my favorite beers now that I have tried. I'm not really big on dark beers or ones that are really hoppy, so this one was perfect. It had a little bit of sweetness to it but still tasted like a beer. Good choice for someone that does not like beer all that much. Later on in our trip we went back in the evening. It was nice sitting outside and the music they played off of pandora was great! I would def come back here again, if I was to come back to the area!

Had to try the local thing while passing thru town...Glad I did!!! Cute little establishment, I came during lunch, place was busy, that's a good sign! Lunch menu was great, po boy's, open roast beef sandwich, French dip and the burger just to name a few. I settled with the open roast beef. It came out big and looked delicious (that's what she said), no, that's what I just said!! It comes out on bread with mash potatoes and gravy on top with two pieces of toast on the side. A very hefty portion and the value is right on. The sandwich is decent, nothing spectacular but definitely hits my appetite. I ordered a side of fries as an appetizer, wish I hadn't. My belly is full! In will be back before I leave town to try the French dip. Cool ambience here, big tv's, local art for sale, etc. the sweet tea is great! The service is par. Overall...a must try if you are looking for local flare!

Flew into Aiken because we couldn't fly into Augusta for the Masters and found this little brew house for lunch. It's has a great place to stop for a quick bite and some golf memorabilia.

Really liked this place. The food was just OK, therefore only 3 stars. The beer was great as was the company from the bartenders to the locals sitting at the bar. Nice selection of home brewed beers, enough variety to please everyone. Their own version of Jenny Cream too!

    (3)
  • Ron D.

Waiter asked me what I wanted and I said "I want to walk away from here and tell everyone how awesome this place is!" He suggested the thoroughbred red beer and the chicken po boy. Now beer is a beer is a beer to me so I had to rely on a partner for a review, two thumbs way up is what she said! However, the chicken po boy was out of this world delicious. Chicken and sausage covered in the gooey mozzarella dressed out with onion, tomato, lettuce, and a deli mustard!!! Boom goes the dynamite! My advice... go there if you wanna be glad ya did!

I've always loved the Aiken Brewing Company (Brew Pub) ever since I came to Aiken. I can truly say that I'm a regular and proud of it! Great people, great food and even better beer! This place is my favorite hangout in Aiken. Whether I'm outside on the patio on a beautiful day or upstairs on the weekends, it's always a great time! I highly recommend grabbing a growler and a group of friends to enjoy! We also love to have a casual date night with some beer and wings, who wouldn't? Favorite Beers: Thoroughbred Red, Kolsch, Czech Pilsner and Oktoberfest Favorite Food: Everything! Especially, Mother Plucker and Fajita Salad (And of course, wings!)

Highly recommend Aiken Brewing Co. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty beer. I would recommend the Thoroughbred Red.

While in town visiting the in-laws we stopped here for lunch. The service was a little slow but we are used to being rushed New Yorkers. My husband and I both had flights and I had the fish sandwich for lunch. It was very good and came with homemade chips! My husband had the burger he said it wasn't the greatest. I'd come back here next time I'm in town!

I really wanted to like this place. I mean they are the only "craft" brew place in the area. I went with my girlfriend. The food we had should have been better for the price we paid but it is what you would expect at any bar first type of place. As for the beer I am not a fan. Having listened to the head brewer speak, he will tell you he does not like hop flavor in beer and it is definitely reflected in his beers. This isn't a good thing when it comes to a lot of the beer styles out there. The IPAs and pale ales that were served were just bad. The malty beers were ok but there was some sort of off flavor that may be the beer itself or may be caused by taps that were not cleaned properly but I don't know but the off flavor was definitely in each beer we tried. Having been to several brew pubs both big and small such as Schlafly, Urban chestnut, Rogue, Redhook, sweetwater, etc etc they definitely come towards the bottom of the list when it comes to beer I want to drink.

This place is a local brewery and restaurant in one. Awesome! They have the huge 300 galon fermentors displayed in the front of the restauraunt. Seriously, I loved everything. The beers were awesome, service was excellent, and food was really tasty. I went with my boyfriend and sister. We got the shrimp jammers as an apetizer, and they were delicious! They're stuffed with lots of good stuff and are served over an amazing sauce. Our server was super sweet. My sister accidentally ordered the hottest wings (and warning: they're REALLY hot) and was unable to eat them. She fully intended to pay for another, milder basket of wings (because, hey, it was her fault), but the server refused to charge her for them. The flavor of the wings was excellent. Finally, the beers. Oh, the beers.. Soo good! I love a good craft beer, and I will definitely be back to try whatever new beers they brew up. Support local breweries!

Beer would get 5 stars but the food would get 1. Admittedly i did come here the week after the masters so i guess the food could have been what was left over after the rush. The red beer was really good though.

Ran into this on a recent trip to Aiken. Decided to try it out. The beer was really great. We had the Jenny cream and it was delightful and refreshing. The food was ok. The coat was a little pricey for what you got. Would definitely go back for some more beer though!

I have went here for years.... Always beer and wings. Wings I always must ask for extra crispy, if you like lots of sauce, ask for extras when you order. Sauces are all great! My favorite is Carolina Q but the others are good also. My favorite beer is Jenny's cream ale and English IPA. The beer selection great--written on board so you can see a brief description of each. If you are not sure they do provide a sample for you to try. You can join mug club where the keep your mug for the year and get new mug yearly. You can also buy your favorite in a growler for $15 to take home. It is usually crowded, never a time I go that I do not run into people I know. There are always people from oot trying it out also. The staff always friendly and owners usually walking around talking to customers. They have an international buffet occasionally one night-- this I'm not find of because I prefer the regular menu items. They have TVs all over and no problem seeing whatever current sporting event is going on. Great place to socialize, meet new people. They have outside seating which is nice also. To me this is a must go in Aiken if you like beer and wings.

The beer is the attraction here, but our food was also very good. The fries were crisp and delicious. We had the Cuban sandwiches, a good choice. Sitting outside under the umbrellas is a marvelous treat. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Excellent beer I tried four of the beers on tap. All were good three were better than good. Food was good not great. Friendly bar tenders and owner was around. Very nice guy. As a traveler it is very rare I grab a growler to go and here I did

This place is great for pub food. The atmosphere is pleasant, but can be noisy depending on the day and time you choose to eat there. Where this place shines is the craft beer brewed in house. I have never had one that I didn't like. If you are in the mood for wings and beer look no further.

  • Kevin K.

I stopped by this hidden gem while looking for a local place to enjoy a beer and meal. Make sure you come during happy hour (m-f 4-7) most home made microbrews are only $3! The food was very good and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Nothing more I can say, but I will be back again.

We had some drinks (great), fries (delicious), and bruscetta (awesome). The waitresses were all so sweet and friendly. Upstairs, the live music was fun and the crowd was a good time. I'd definitely go back!

A true Aiken 'must stop in' restaurant. They have some of the best wait staff in town and are very friendly. The food is good and their beer has won many awards. Randy, the brew-master, is very good at his craft. Plus, they have a full bar, so if home brew isn't for you, you can get a properly made martini too. (Hey, that rhymes!) I like mixing their Blonde and Red brews to make what I call a "strawberry blonde"...lol. Great wings, ribs, burgers and other foods too. And it's one of the places to "be" on Friday nights. ;)

  • Scott V.

Absolutely my favorite place for excellent craft brewed beer, wings are very good,if ya want them hot,try the pluckin hot...you will not be disappointed.wait staff are friendly and attentive.great place to hang out and enjoy some quality beer!!!!!

  • Amber C.

Pretty good place, food is basically bar food, nothing insanely special but still pretty good when you are craving that kind of burgers and fries stuff, and the portion sizes are pretty big. Which they should be for the price, but when compared to most of the places in downtown Aiken, they aren't THAT bad price-wise. If you go to a restaurant in downtown Aiken expecting Micky D's prices you are going to be sorely disappointed. One thing I can't stand is the noise though. Can't hear yourself talk, can't hear your server talk, can't hear nothin'. I mean, it's a brewery after all. But as a warning to those who can't deal well with loud noises very well (like myself) keep that in mind. If that doesn't bother you, I'd recommend it.

    (4)
  • Charlie D.

Curses! I drank all the blonde! So I've turned to the Golden Lager. Not bad. Still haven't been thrown out, amazing. Bartenders are all wicked cool. Gotta love an owner that uses all his profits buying shots. Oh! the food is good too! I loved their salmon.

    (4)
  • david b.

A-OK for sure. Went in for a few pints on a slow Tuesday night. I love IPA and they have IPA, but the board on the wall says its hoppy. The IPA was not hoppy by any stretch of the imagination. Cool vibe and down home feel, seems like a great place. Would definitely give it another shot next time I am in Aiken.

    (3)
  • Mike C.

A genuine Aiken must. Famous around Aiken for their brews, this place has good food too. I highly recommend the Old Aiken Ale!

    (5)
  • C K.

Have tried a few of their brews, from light to dark, and all of them have been great. Thoroughbred Red is a standard, and the other 5 or 6 get mixed up depending on the brewmaster's selection. Have had the lemon pepper chicken, and the rasta pasta. The pasta was great, the chicken was average. Entrees come with a decent side salad, which is lots of greens and a few pieces of tomato. 4 Stars for the beer, and 3 stars for the food.

  • Shawn Z.

In town for a wedding and was taken here by some locals. Tasted a couple of in-house brews: the Red and London Porter on nitro...both were decent but nothing to write home about...my palate is a bit skewed as I'm coming from a craft beer haven - Colorado. Bartenders were cool in the gang but the band playing upstairs was HORRIBLE. Overall a fun time and would recommend to anyone looking to go out in town as there's not much else offered.

Great steak, salmon, and awesome onion rings. We will put this as our top of list places to revisit

    (4)
  • Mukur H.

I wasn't a big fan of the brews, but the food was good. I think its the specific type of hobs they use that I do not like. The place seems like it would be fun for a good night out with some friends.

  • Bill M.

Great beer, good bar food (great wings, chicken tenders, and burgers.) Dinner specials each day. Upstairs is a sports bar, and live bands on some weekend nights.
