I saw a previous review describe this place as "quick, clean, and inexpensive" and I believe that's the perfect way to sum it up. It's the ideal hangover diner breakfast and it's just how you'd imagine a small-town diner to be. The staff is hilarious, bubbly, and full of life. Our waitress was very sweet and still smiled at my roommates and I even before we had our morning coffee. They serve hot or iced coffee and have an extensive menu. It's perfect for all ages and the decor is just how you would imagine it to be. They decorate for every holiday (adorbs) and serve their delicious diner food on old fashioned diner plates. The local crowd is definitely not the youngest, but they're still a hoot (yes, I said hoot). Their typical eggs, bacon, sausage, and homefries is my go-to every time.

Been going here for years and can say I have never been disappointed!! The wait staff are always friendly and welcoming to guests!! If you're looking for comfort food then this is the place!! Home fries are absolutely amazing and the butterscotch pancakes are my absolute favorite! I will continue to visit whenever I'm in the area, definitely two thumbs up

First off, the staff were EXTREMELY attentive. I was never wanting of coffee nor did I sit waiting for what seemed like forever once I was ready to order. Our server was very cheery and didn't seem at all put off over questions I asked. I had the waffle with banana and while it wasn't the best waffle I had ever eaten it was good (way better than Denny's sad excuse for a waffle) and it was topped with a massive amount of banana (just how I like it). The coffee was also good though Im not a fan of the only sweetner option being Sweet and Low. I know its the cheapest (compared to Splenda, Equal, etc.) but it tastes horrible. My biggest complaint was the ridiculous price for the fruit bowl. Five dollars for a small bowl of banana and strawberries is a little steep. This place has a cute diner feel and overall I was very happy.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because of our waitress. She was so unbelievably sweet. I came here on the fourth of July and me and my 6 other friends are all from out of town. We had bad luck with the other place that we tried to go to and the morning was starting to get frustrating so we tried this place and got taken care of very well. The food was decent. Typical diner food, you can't go wrong. I'll definitely come back when I'm I'm town.

This place is a cozy little spot. We went on a Sunday and luckily beat the lunch/brunch rush. We had our three children with us and only had a to wait a about 5-10 minutes which wasn't too bad. Breakfast on the other hand took entirely too long to get to us, with three young children 30 minutes is just too long to have to wait for food to come out. We were very lucky it was loud in there and our kids were very very well behaved that morning. Service was absolutely wonderful, our waitress was sweet apologetic and made the experience of waiting much better. I did have a problem with the "french toast sticks" being deep fried. I didn't want my kids to have deep fried food for breakfast and if I would have known I certainly would have made another choice for them, they should really note that on the menu. Aside from the deep fried "french toast sticks" all the food was very good. It's worth a visit if you are in the area.

The staff is very friendly and always serves you with a smile. They're on top of their tables with the refills. Food is good and if you have kids order them the M&M pancakes.

The Nook added shredded hash browns to the menu!! Had a great breakfast today with eggs benedict and M&M silver dollar pancakes.

My first trip to the breakfast nook was an extremely good experience. I was vacationing in the area and someone suggested trying them out. Everything on the menu looked so appetizing but it was the drool-worthy selection on the daily specials board that made it hard to narrow down my decision. Our waitress, Carol, was literally the sweetest woman in the world. She was so friendly and personable, and made us laugh quite a few times! She suggested the banana bread French toast and recommended ordering chocolate chips on top. They were PERFECT. Moist warm banana bread with slightly melted chocolate chips on top.. I have no other words! My second time a few months later while in the area again was just as amazing. Upon entering my girlfriend and I had agreed we were going to request for Carol, only to be met with surprise that she was in fact our waitress! She is the best. We got the home fry omelette with bacon and cheese. It was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend trying it! We also ordered the banana and walnut pancakes off of the daily special board.. They were amazing, the perfect pancake. This place is great not only for the awesome food but also for the great friendly service and people like Carol who truly care about the customer experience and keep us coming back every time!

The hospitality is great here. On a saturday morning it is a warm and cozy. All the ladies call you honey and sweet pea. Lol the food is good ol down home cooking. Wait, i just heard one of the ladies call someone babydoll. They have there regulars they tease and have conversations with. It is overall a great place to dine. Oh before i forget, the first time i came to RI was late december my 3 yr old son and i strolled in and ordered takeout. I talked with the waitress about being new here due to me being in the Navy. And when my food came she said it was on the house and merry xmas. That really touched my heart. So they will always get my business. Check them out!

The service was excellent. The food was exactly what you would expect from a "greasy spoon." It was quick, clean, and inexpensive. For what it is, worth a stop.

Went at 1:30 on a Thursday- place was full. Waited 20 mins for table, 10 mins to order, 40 mins for food to come; orders came separately. "Hash browns" are really just french fries in chunks. Greasy, no-good food. Nice server. I will never go here again.

This place has such a traditional diner feel. You enter and feel as though you have been transported to the past. It is self seating and the prices are totally reasonable. Egg, home fries, and toast for $3.95. They have a specials board with great selections to choose from everyday. This place is with a visit!! Also, they have Gluten free options!!! How great is that??!?!?

  • Theodore Y.

The wait staff is superb. Friendly, on point, no attitude. Even hooked us up with an extra omelette. The drawback? Everything is just sorta laid in grease on top of grease. I know diner food isn't exactly known to be healthy, but they could be less generous with the artery cloggers.

I love this place! This is a perfect spot for breakfast. One of my favorite breakfast spots.

  • Gina B.

I have to agree with the reviews regarding service. The wait staff were great and attentive. I received coffee even before I sat down. The downside, the food was mediocre at best. The home fries felt like they came out of a frozen bag, the Benedict with asparagus was made with a gravy like, lumpy hollandaise sauce and canned asparagus. The corn flakes on the "crunchy French toast" were stale and rubbery, the waffle was decent, but nothing to write home to mom to. Very disappointing considering the service.

Great little breakfast location in Wakefield. VERY Small, can be a wait for an open table, if you don't mind and there is an opening at the counter, grab a seat. Consistency is key and they have it. Great homefries, stack of pancakes are heavy; but the service is great as the waitresses keep an eye on you with refills if needed for your coffee. Portions can be large for kids, have them look at the kids menu options.

After reading all the positive reviews I decided to check it out . I've been to a lot of diners all over the world and this one was probably one of the most disappointing one. The sausage and bacon were old, probably just microwaved ( inside was cold) , omelet was runny. I will not be going there again. There was a sign on the door that they are looking for a cook, so maybe the person cooking there before knew how to prepare a decent breakfast.

Sunday sausage gravy special with a biscuit side AND a order of eggs bene...so yummy. Let the eating remorse commence... I took my son here for a Sunday morning breakfast while staying down in Narragansett over the weekend. There was a wait, as is to be expected, with a 10am show at any breakfast joint on a Sunday. I am going to keep it simple. My eggs benedict was above-average. They put cheese on my grilled english underneath the perfectly poached egg and hollandaise. I honestly could have done without the cheese, but it was still delish. My son got a single pancake. It was doughy in the middle and lacked any type of flavor or light-airy texture. It was probably one of the worst pancakes I've ever tasted out. That being said, my son seemed to enjoy the edges of the pancake and was full before even hitting the undercooked center. Pancakes are pretty simple and I definitely expected better. The service was definitely lacking. I had to politely flag someone down to take our order after being seated for a good 10 mintues. I also had to ask twice to have my bottomless cup of coffee filled up...as the server walked by filling up other folks at tables nearby. I even had my empty cup on the corner of table. Automatic refills are breakfast joint 101 in my book. They weren't rude as much as very disorganized. I would go here for the eggs benedict and sit at the counter. Or if seated at a table, don't hesitate to speak up for service. I liked it well enough to return if I was out in the area again but would not make a special trip to go back. I enjoy the place across the street much better.

There are many many many diners in New England. Very few rise above the depths of frozen crap served from a fifty page menu with obligatory Greek nonsense. Breakfast Nook II, on the other hand, stands out. When one is summering in Rhode Island, certainly check this place out. Friendly waitstaff and good food and coffee. The lobster benny was utterly charming without a hint of coyness or attitude. Great place to recharge for a new day in the surf.

Same as it ever was.... Standard issue eggs, toast, coffee, tea place - with a few interesting specials. You are pretty much guaranteed to be called "honey" by someone in here. And, to reiterate what the others have said, they know how to make home fries correctly. Let 'em sit on the flat top until they get that nice crunch on one side.

Decent place for breakfast. A little less greasy than Phil's, but a lot less of the charm. It has good food and friendly waitstaff. They're only open till 2pm though, so you have to get in early. Also, there is usually a wait if you're there between 10-11 on the weekends.

Very disappointing experience this morning at breakfast when I was charged 4 dollars for a bowl of strawberries that is priced at 1.99 in the menu. It's not the 2 dollars that bothers me but rather the lack of customer service. I brought it to the waitress' attention, but the manager refused to make an adjustment to my check. This was once one of my favorite breakfast places to frequent in college, but safe to say they lost a customer forever. They clearly know nothing about putting the customer first.

Best "Diner" in Wakefield. I grew up in NJ, where the diners were once a flourishing culinary force but are now disappearing fast (well not actually disappearing but changing to new owners that don't seem to know what being a 'diner' is all about). The Nook is a fine breakfast joint, but also a very good lunch place too. In fact, I believe if ONLY they were open for dinner, and served dinner up the same way, they'd make a fortune. It's not the polished 'chain', it's authentic Americana that is very tasty. I give it five stars because I've yet to find anything in Rhode Island that is this much 'diner-esque'. It's a typical 'greasy spoon' without the grease. I find anything fried very well drained and just perfect in it's ordinary-ness. The wait staff is ALWAYS very friendly, very quick, very helpful and I ALWAYS feel very welcome. If you want a good breakfast, or a good lunch, don't want to pay too much and get it quick "DINER" style....this is the place in Wakefield that does not pull ANY punches. The specials are also always good. I make it a point to go and favor this over most of the higher end restaurants in Wakefield. If you are very picky, needing everything special, they'll do it...but let's face it, this is for average folks having average American fare. It gets crowded most mornings in the summertime, so go early or late to avoid waiting. You can still eat at the counter!

This restaurant specializes in breakfast (hence the name), though they also feature lunch items. Breakfast Nook II is open from 6:30 AM - 2 PM. The breakfast was served very quickly and was tasty. My partner and I both had the biscuits & gravy special. The biscuits and gravy were extremely good - not too salty or greasy like others we've had. The over-easy eggs were well-cooked, and the home fries were also good. They were perhaps a bit underdone in the middle, but they were very crispy on the outside. The coffee is diner coffee (i.e., nothing to write home about). The price was more than reasonable (about $10 a person). Service was friendly and quick, there was a bit of a wait, but the turnover is fast. Either way, this place is worth the wait, and a great spot for a wonderful (if not fancy) breakfast.

Great breakfast, and fantastic home fries, their specials are always good, especially when they have biscuits and sausage gravy!

Will not go there for normal food.....if booth is empty they will not let a single sit there.....I find that arrogant and insulting.

"The Nook" is your classic breakfast diner. Huge menu with every breakfast item imaginable, constantly flowing coffee, and cheap. Last time I was there they were featuring a Gingerbread Pancakes special, which was awesome. I usually go for the omelettes or egg plates, but everything has always satisfied, year after year.

I am surprised that there are only 4 reviews for The Breakfast Nook (2)! This is a very nice breakfast/lunch place in Wakefield that many people come to. It shares the parking lot with the Wakefield Post Office, a Walk In Health Center and a Natural Foods Store. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a line going outside the door in the mornings. Although it's busy the waitresses are almost always very speedy with the orders and the coffee. The food is typical New England Diner Fare with specials on the white board. These usually include an omelet with chourize or keilbasa in it or as a side, a pancake special, eggs with pork chops or a slice of steak or ham, the muffin selection, the flavored coffee of the day, and the lunch special for that day. It's predictable like the way people used to cook. It is good too. I like their home fries, they're tasty. And they started serving hash browns a year or more ago. I recommend the Scrambler's Breakfast Sandwich if you're really hungry. A generous portion of scrambled eggs and proper amount of ham and cheese between 3 slices of bread (kind of like a Moons Over My Hammy from Denny's but a bit bigger). It's delicious and very very filling. The Eggs Benedict 3 ways is something I've not tried but friends of mine have. You can get oatmeal there and if I'm not mistaken you can get baked beans like many New Englanders used to eat every morning. No brown bread though : (. They have a satisfying burger and I do prefer their turkey club. They also have a delicious eggplant grinder. They're coffee is good but I like my coffee a little anemic. The place is small and bustling and although you would not be hustled out it is not a good idea to linger when there are people waiting for seats. There is a counter if it's busy in the booths where you can sit and eat. Good prices, good people and good food. Comfort Zone. By the way, this is one of local chain of breakfast/lunch restaurants in Rhode Island. The others are: Scramblers in Cranston (They're housed in what was an old IHOP restaurant. Their scrambler sandwich isn't as generous as Wakefield's) Scramblers III Inc. in East Greenwich (A larger and comfier place food's ok.) Scramblers II in Johnstown (Across from an Elderly Apartment complex but nice and good food.) Breakfast Nook in North Kingston (Never been there.)

My husband and I are foodies who love to check out local diners and this is a review of last weekends greatest find. The Breakfast Nook II in Wakefield RI was AWESOME! I rarely order Eggs Benedict simply because it usually gets sent back due to nasty Hollandaise sauce or the eggs are way over cooked, but that was not the case on this day. The Hollandaise was the BEST I have ever had and the eggs were cooked perfectly. It was so good in fact I asked if the chef wouldn't mind stopping by our table so we could ask his name and personally let him know how much we enjoyed our breakfast. His name like the breakfast will not soon be forgotten... Paul Newman, we give you 5 stars! Now I can't close out this review without mentioning our waitress Carol, she too was gracious and served us with a smile and on that very busy morning was able to keep coffee in our sups filled to the brim. Overall experience 5 stars, will we go back to Breakfast Nook II? You bet we will. Happy to have found this little Nook in Wakefield, the Mori's from CT

Went here for Father's Day. The service was friendly and excellent. The food was very good. Between the group of us, got a chance to try the home fries (on the crispy side and tasty), eggs, corned beef hash (very good!) and pancakes (plain but good). I would go back in a heartbeat.

Stopped in here with a friend on the way home from Narragansett. After a week of horrifying RI restaurants, it was like an oasis. It was very busy so we sat at the breakfast bar. Tea was served in a charming little pot. Prices were far below average for the great quality and service. Overall, we were very satisfied!
