Cannot beat the price for what they offer, and the food has always been good when I got it and I've been there a few times, They are my top choice for a quick and easy lunch/snack on the island when I crave Chinese.

Very expensive for what you get. The lo mein was good as was the beef with broccoli. Pork fried rice was a major fail, terribly disgusting. Lunch is until 3pm so we wound up paying $20 for two lunch plates at 3:15pm. Their lunch prices are just ok as well.

This was recommended as the only good chinese place in Newport. I gave it 4 stars because even though it wasnt as good as I hoped, it is for sure better than the other places I ordered from and honestly didn't even want to taste it after one look at the food. So i will stick to this place for some comfort food :) the lo mein, boneless spare ribs, and fried rice were all good!

quick, solidly good american chinese food! counter service very informal atmosphere clean they do a brisk delivery & take out service. prices are very very reasonable portions are generous food is always hot & fresh veggies are fresh & crisp i always order dinner combination of moo goo gai pan & i opt for lo mein instead of rice. mggp is very good! chicken with mushrooms, pea pods, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts cooked al denote in a subtle white garlic sauce. lo mein noodles are perfectly cooked & not drowning in grease. it has that great smoky flavor it's supposed to have.

Quick, cheap, and large quantities of Chinese food. I had General Tso's chicken and egg drop soup. Everything was cooked while I waited. Nothing was amazing but it was all average or above average food.

We ordered egg rolls, chicken fried rice, and chicken lo mein. Needless to say the chicken was long and white, and rubbery. It was definitely questionable. We didn't end up eating it. The food is definitely Americanized and was not really anything special. It didn't have much taste.

We have been long time customers and order at least once a week. This week they left out part of our order. I called to get it delivered but they said they were "too busy". They offered to make me it again if I came to pick up which defeats the purpose of delivery. They offered a credit for next time but since they refused to deliver what I ordered and paid for I will not be ordering from them again.

For those who actually enjoy Chinese, do NOT eat this "food". Love trying new things, so I ventured in to give it a shot. Menu was written on paper on the wall including lunch specials. I ordered some sesame chicken with fried rice, chicken finger, and crab Rangoon and a new item they were advertising as fried scallops . The rice was closer to Spanish rice than it was to fried rice. Completley tasteless. The sesame chicken tasted like it was made in the morning and warmed to order, the crab rangoon was the worst I had ever had, and forget about the scallop. When the lady brought it over to me I had to ask her what it was because they were completely unrecognizable. When I cut it in half, I could unravel it. Definitely frozen and imitation. The worst experience I've ever had. The lady who worked there stayed on her phone watching tv and could care less whether or not I liked the food. Wouldn't eat here again if it were the last place open!

The 2 stars is an average of food quality and customer service. The food is ok, not great, not bad. The woman who works here is one of THE RUDEST people around. I've been witness to her yelling at a customer- the customer said something was missing from their order and she kept telling him that she knows she put it in the bag. Who lies about chicken fried rice? Weird. She has no problem just walking away in the midst of taking your order- just disappears. Anyway, if you want mediocre food and you enjoy being treated like shit, enjoy Bamboo!

Looked for Chinese food in Newport and found Bamboo. The General Gao Chicken and pork fried rice delicious and generous portions. Egg roll below average. Delivery time excellent.

I was not WOW-ed, but I also was not disgusted! The place is clean and the service was amazingly friendly! They have a rather large selection on their menu. I tried the crab rangoons and the sweet and sour chicken. I was happy, but again, it was not the best chinese food I have had. I will return if I have another craving for chinese!

Although the dishes aren't truly authentic chinese it will satisfy your needs for a quick fix! We ordered the Young Chow Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Spicy Beef & Vegetables, Hot & Sour Soup and Pork Lo Mein. Sounds like we were piggies but after a day of moving and running around we were starving! The YC Fried Rice was seasoned perfectly w/ generous amounts of chicken, shrimp and pork. The Chicken Chow Mein was pretty good. Vegetables were stir fried perfectly w/ a generous portion of tender chicken breast. The sauce wasn't as thick as I like it but it was good anyways. The other dishes weren't bad either. The Crab Rangoon was a surprise. It actually had crab and cream cheese in it! I cannot tell you how many times I've ordered crab rangoon and all I got was a fried wonton noodle. The only disappointment was the Hot & Sour Soup. Very bland tasting and no "sour" (vinegar) taste at all. I would recommend this place for take out, not really a sit down kind of place although they do have a few tables. The restaurant is clean and the employees are friendly and very accommodating. They do deliver but i would call first as I believe it is only in the immediate area.

The usual type of chinese food comes in places like Bamboo. You typically want something fast for lunch, so chinese 'buffet' is usually the fast and easy choice. The environment is simple, small and warm. The sun shines directly into the restaurant and keeps the weather good inside. Especially since the weather was in the teens that day. Now to the food. Cold day, you want something hot. The lunch combo is a decent price for $5.75 for #B Lunch Combo: #2 General Tso's Chickity chick chicken, with a side of chicken wings and white rice. I found some broccoli in my meal...SCORE! And of course, Rhode Island tax if 7%, way better than this California tax of 9.75%. If you're hungry, eat here. It's easy, quick, and fills you up. Funny part is that I was full most of the day. Doesn't Chinese digest fast? Not this time.

Tried Bamboo for the first time tonight. My experience was very good. I called in an order and it was ready when promised and still hot. The vegetables were crisp and not over cooked as often happens at some Chinese take out places. Service was friendly. I will order from them again.

Cheap, quick, and surprisingly good. One of few things I look forward to when I travel on business to Newport, RI. Try the Beef and Broccoli!

Best Chinese take-out I've had. Kung Pao Chicken was delicious- white meat and lots of it. Friendly and professional staff, and good prices. Military/police discount after 4pm.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
