The Admiral Weaver Inn is a sweet little bed and breakfast located close to Downtown Newport. The outside of the building is quite appealing but is in a pretty tight street. Parking is located behind the building. I really enjoy the layout of the Inn, they have a cute little dinning area with a fireplace. However, the decor is pretty outdated and very bold. In my opinion if it's clean and comfortable I don't really care how it's decorated but I believe with some updates the Inn would be more appealing to a larger group. For example: there is very odd wallpaper covering the majority of the inside (my room had person sized orchid wallpaper with swirling things on it and the kitchen has brick looking wallpaper), the bedspreads were a black and white floral pattern that clashed pretty badly with the orchid wallpaper, there was an odd amount of fake plants, a ginormous Porsche sign above the fridge and a huge Rolex clock on the wall of the dinning room. These are all personal preference of course. We arrived outside of check in times and there was a phone number to call that was left for us. When we called they gave us instructions for how to get to our room. They made checking in and out really easy. The continental breakfast that they serve is very nice, I ordered an omelet and waffle and the portions were very generous. All the food looked delicious, however there were some gnats in the bread box, which has fruit in it in the afternoon. I'm not sure if gnats are more common with the humidity of the area (I am from a place with almost no humidity). The bathroom was small but I was very pleased with its cleanliness. Really no complaints there. In our room there was a very large EXIT sign in front of the door that lead to the deck, I didn't think much of it until we tried to sleep and it produced a lot of light. My husband tied some shorts around it to dim it. The wifi connection is pretty weak on the 3rd floor, but who needs wifi anyway.. It was nice to detach from phones and iPads and actually talk to the other people staying there. Overall, I feel like the Admiral Weaver Inn has a lot to offer and is located in a beautiful city. With some minor updates to the interior this place could be very good.

Clean and very convenient walk to the down town area. Stayed here 4th of July weekend. The walk to the bars and restaurants on Thames was about an 18-20 minute leisurely walk. Parking was was easy, we were able to park one car in the lot in back and one on the street. A few things that need improving, the plumbing isn't the greatest. The water in the shower was lukewarm. Housekeeping took our towels but didn't replace them. Overall, our stay was very good and would recommend this place.

When I went there for a weekend to kick off the summer and for my birthday the first thing I noticed that the plants and shrubs were over grown covering up the sign that said "Admiral Weaver Inn." once I got to my room the floors weren't swept or vacuumed. The bathroom had no hand soap or bath towels but it did have a hand towel. In the morning when I turned on the television to catch some news the television wasn't working. When I went to shower (I bought some towels at a nearby Walmart the night before) the water was cold. I skipped breakfast because of everything else I encountered. I didn't even smell anything cooking. I expected a lot more from a bed and breakfast. Courtesy towels, warm water, hand soap, and a clean floor is expected when I go away. Find another place to go in Newport, RI.

The Admiral Weaver described itself as an inn built in the 1860's, with each room having fireplaces, hair dryer, iron, tv, etc. After driving all day, we arrived around 9:30 to the Admiral Weaver. We rang the bell and a family came to the door very puzzled. They told us there were no rooms, their family had reserved the whole house months in advance. We called the phone numbers that were left maybe five times each and nobody answered. Finally, a lady named Kim called and said she left an envelope with key at the next house over! How were we to know we were staying at the next house!? When we went to the next house over, there was no envelope. Kim said it must have blown away, but if we went thru the back door of the house, the door to our room would be unlocked. We travelled thru the very empty and dark house to find that the door to our room was locked. We called her again and Kim told us she would have to come there to let us in and it would take 15 minutes. We were so exhausted and wanted to just go to the HoJo, but we agreed. She came and took us to our room. Kim was nice and the room was clean, but the fridge didn't work so my champagne for our anniversary night was never chilled, there was no remote batteries for the miniature tv with bad reception, there was no fireplace to speak of, no iron, and no hair dryer. AND we definitely weren't in the 1860's bed and breakfast we signed up for! It was all around disappointing, the lack of communication with us, but also the lack of communication with the family that we disturbed at the inn. Nobody knew what was going on and the room was like a college dorm. Not romantic at all!

My girlfriend and I went down for Memorial Day weekend. As we approached the Admiral Weaver Inn the sign was covered in overgrown shrubbery. We went in and the floor to our room was not vacuumed or swept. We had no hand soap in the bathroom and no courtesy towels for bathing, we just had a hand towel (what good is a hand towel to dry hands if you cannot clean them with no hand soap?) When we woke up in the morning we went to turn on the television to catch some morning news and it was not working. I showered first, turned the knob all the way over to hot because I like hot showers and all I got was a cold shower. The water never warmed up and we had to take a cold shower. Others in the hotel were also complaining of no hot water. We knew breakfast was to start at 8:30 and we never even smelled food cooking. A hot breakfast would have been nice. We were suppose to stay two nights but decided to only stay one because of this horrible experience. It was a VERY POOR way to kick off the summer season, we hot-footed it out of there and relocated to the Best Western for the rest of our weekend.
