Sadly, this will probably be our last visit to Olive Garden. I called ahead for a party of 9 to be seated at 4:00 pm. The lobby was empty when we arrived. One hostess told another to get our table ready. Twenty or so minutes later we were seated. Then we waited at least 15 minutes to get our drink order taken. Probably another 15-18 minutes before our drinks arrived! Food orders were taken and salad and breadsticks arrived shortly. Our meal.... Two steaks were ordered. Both were over-cooked. My husband said his steak had no flavor at all. The broccoli was cold and mushy. The one dish I always order and love is the Chicken Scampi. It wasn't awful, but it's not the same. Did not have the usual garlic flavor. :( By the way, the plates have been changed and portions have been decreased. Diners at our table had to repeatedly ask for drink refills. My water ran out and the waitress never did return at that time so I never received a refill. To be fair, someone at our table overheard someone say that a large part of their staff was out due to attending a wedding. I'm not blaming our wait staff for any of the above complaints. I believe it's a management issue. We were charged the mandatory 18% gratuity due to our party size.

3:45pm and empty parking lot, yet there is a wait?! The shining spot in our meal was the excellent service. She was attentive to our every need and even anticipating our needs before we realized we needed them. Shannon truly redeemed Olive Garden in our eyes, bringing it from a chain restaurant experience to a personal experience. Thank you Shannon.

I was hungry after shopping for clothes for our son so I suggested Olive Garden since we hadn't been here in a while. I have to be honest - the food was the best Olive Garden has served me in my life possibly. I really liked the salad -perfectly dressed and my entree was cooked perfectly. I had the herb cheese Soffatelli with braised beef and the beef was very tender while the sauce had the best mix of creamy, smokey, tangy from the red pepper and slightly savory. We got a complimentary taste of the house white which was tasty too. I really felt they tried to serve us to the best of their ability and even though it was a Tuesday they had a short wait. We got to sit in the corner by the window which was good for our son to people watch.

I know, I know, it's a chain. But the service is often impeccable here and the menu is always changing with newer items. It's very Americanized (fried lasagna appetizer?!) but the soup/salad lunch is a steal for what you get. Huge location also means in and out faster than most places, even if there's a small crowd outside. Dardin has this business model worked out nicely.

I like Olive Garden occasionally. I don't care for the dressing they put on their salad and the fact that they don't offer any other kind is really a turn-off. Who likes the same dressing time after time?????? Their food is okay, not bad, not the best, and they are over-priced in my book.

As a child, I remember OG being delicious! I loved the breadsticks and pasta. Now as an adult (and a wop), I have realized just how much this place truly lacks authenticity. Perhaps the only thing I really enjoy from OG anymore is the soup, salad, and breadsticks (and not even the breadsticks so much anymore). My last visit was fairly disappointing. It was a Monday night and the place was packed! I think it took approximately 8 minutes before we were greeted at our table and had drinks ordered. By that time, we already knew what we had wanted, so we placed our food order as well. The soups and breadsticks came out in a timely manner. The soup was too hot to eat for about 5 minutes, and the breadsticks lacked the flavorful garlicy taste that I so remember when I was a kid. Do they even have someone who bastes these things before they are delivered? The main course took a while to arrive. I ordered the rosemary chicken with brocolli and a garlic cream sauce. I was disappointed the moment I started to eat it. The noodles seemed somewhat overcooked. They had that sticky and soggy texture. The chicken was juicy, but lacked the grilled consistency that I had desired when ordering the dish. And the most disappointing aspect of the whole meal was the sauce. There was absolutely nothing creamy about the sauce. It was like water. It lacked flavor. Even with the mounds of extra cheese I have them sprinkle on, it still did not thicken. :( I cannot speak for my fiance on his portion of the meal, because he eats anything. By the time our food came and I ate a small portion of it, I was just ready to leave. I noticed that all the other tables had their food packaged for them, but for some reason we were left to do this on our own. I can honestly say that I will continue to eat at OG, but only for their soup and salad special, which fares for a nice lite lunch. Anything else has proven to be overpriced, and under-delivered.

I've been here a dozen or so times since I was old enough to remember. The meals here are never anything AMAZING. but it is a solid place to get a little "Italian" food but keep your expectations low and you will be pleased.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have any review... I was there Sunday early evening with fam. 8 of us, 5 adults, 3 kids. We got there about 5pm. not too busy yet. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Not bad for table for 8. Server greeted us in a reasonable time. few minutes. Just enough to settle down. We ordered drinks while we were waiting for the rest of the party. Yes, they let us sit even though the whole party wasn't there yet. 1 point! We played musical chairs cuz some part of the table was cooler than other... Server came and told us we can't do that anymore(in a politely joking way), so we did it couple more times. Just to be funny! Poor lady... So the other party came. We started to order, and if you have kids, you know how painful it is to order... Spaghetti with no sauce, split meal between kids, etc... She did great taking care of orders. When the food came out, she knew exactly who had what, even after we switched seats again! (well, she had to think real hard for one dish...) Then she came to us and said she deleted one of our dish by accident. So my hubby didn't have his food. This is where 4-star comes. Instead of blaming cook or somebody else like every other servers I've experienced in the past, she took the blame, came to us, and said "I'm sorry I screwed up, let me fix it for you right away". She noticed that there was a plate missing right away, (many times when that happens, I had to call the server over and tell them that something is missing) AND she apologized that it was her fault. OMG that was so awesome! I understand we are a human and we make mistakes. We all do. What separates good server and bad server is ability to recognize the issue and fix it... She is a good server. So, his food came out few minutes later, so what. (well, because it wasn't mine, it's ok) We had a good time. Only reason it wasn't a 5-star... It's still a corporate restaurant and food isn't the best... She also added Auto-grat... I was gonna tip more than 18%, but since she added already, no more. ( ok, I put few more bucks in cuz I liked her...) 5-Star service, 3-star food

If you like chain restaurant Italian food, then why not try the Olive Garden! As with every other Olive Garden restaurant, the best things here are the salad and breadsticks. The rest of the food is just your run of the mill chain restaurant Italian food. I would much rather enjoy fine dining, but Olive Garden always knows how to slap lipstick on a pig. I guess in York, chain restaurants are considered fine dining. Oh well, I guess I can't complain too much as the service has always been pretty decent here.

Decided to order take out on a Sunday eve at 6pm . Had to call in 3 times and each time was on hold for 8-10 mins . Finally got tired of waiting on hold . Seriously, how hard is it to take a phone order ? If they were busy then maybe a manager could pick up some slack and answer a damn phone . Was just in the mood for some pasta even though it's not real Italian .

Don't play the games unless you want to pay!!! The tablet at the table has games, but never does it mention a cost. My daughter started playing, and the waitress warned us about15 minutes in that their $2/game. Haven't paid for the meal yet, but I'm not paying for the games... We'll see how it goes :)

We go there all the time & the food is always good! And usually the service is great but our waitress was not very attentive or available. And she did forget a lot of our order.

Since autumn Hampton the previous manager left, this location just isn't good any more. Food is bland, not OG quality that you would expect. We go to another location if we want Olive Garden.

This post is for my mom because she is not social media savvy:) She recently encountered exceptional customer service from two Olive Garden employees (Kathy and Bill)! For a party, she ordered tiramisu one of her favorites and made sure to call ahead to make sure it was ready. When she arrived, there had been a mix up and the restaurant was out of tiramisu. Depending on a company's customer service, this situation could have gone really well (as it did) or horribly! Kathy and Bill did everything possible to make sure my mom got her tiramisu. They reached out to local olive gardens and finally found tiramisu in park city (40 min) from the York location. Bill drove all the way there and back and was able to deliver the tiramisu to my mom! They even threw in an amaretto tiramisu! This is an example of exceptional service and a story my mom is sure to tell over and over again! Great WOM marketing!!

I get it. It's a chain. It isn't "real" Italian food. Truthfully, if I lived in Manhattan, maybe I wouldn't eat at Olive Garden. But I live in York, PA, and I won't apologize for going someplace where the food is good, the atmosphere is nice, and the staff is friendly. I live an hour from Baltimore's Little Italy, and I like the food here as much as any place I've been there. Really, a restaurant being a chain doesn't always mean the food isn't good, and it doesn't have a nice ambiance. (see also: Changs, P.F.) What you really want to know is how is THIS Olive Garden. It's very good. It's also probably the busiest restaurant in York (which probably says more about York than Olive Garden.) Most times it's a good idea to do call ahead seating, or you're looking at over an hour wait if you show up at peak times. I've been here many times, and have never had a bad meal or experience here. I always like to stop by for a drink before dinner; the bar area isn't very big, and the bar staff is polite, though never particularly friendly compared to everyone else. (I always assume because I drink at their bar, rather than ordering food, which leads to a bigger tip.) The restaurant itself is a lot larger than it looks. I've been here for parties of a few dozen people on already busy nights, and even then the place didn't feel cramped. They also have a decent wine selection. I tend to order the calamari, and the Chicken Parmesan. Love the salad.

This place gets 1 star for the nice service we had from our waitress and the short wait we had by doing call ahead seating. How hard is it to cook pasta, really? The olive garden can't do it. They have a never ending pasta bowl? That's sad. I haven't gone in many many years because of how cheap and bland I remember my last meal tasting. My boyfriend hasn't been to an olive garden in years either. My boyfriend and I recently went to this "restaurant" to use a gift card. I ordered the steak gorgonzola alfredo... specified medium rare. The menu says the default is medium well, but can be cooked to specification. My steak was WELL DONE and dry. The fettuccine was overcooked and stuck together. There was virtually no alfredo sauce whatsoever that I could detect. There was a teensy sprinkling of gorgonzola over the dry beef chunks. No redeeming factors here. The tour of Italy. . My boyfriend let me know there was spaghetti in his fettuccine. . And I just laughed! Because this has happened to me many years ago as well. They can't even clean out pans in between orders. I tried his lasagna... that was actually decent, and I would order that if I ever get dragged back to this god forsaken place. I took most of my steak "alfredo" home to try my hand at sprucing up the dish. I used to be able to make even Ramen or easy mac taste amazing back when I was in college. With all my tricks I could not make this taste much better. .. why?! Because nothing was cooked correctly to begin with. The cooks have proven how useless they are, bravo. Also thought it was worth mentioning that the draft beer selection is pitiful. We bought a bottle of El cheapo sweet wine for $25 to make up for it. We would never be willing to pay full price for this crap. The gift card alone brought us here. So... Goodbye, olive garden.

Each olive garden differs from restaurant to restaurant. The food was average. No complaints. Nothing special as well, however I am 23 years of age and I was unable to order an alcoholic beverage due to the fact that someone else in my party was not above the age of 21. They stated that "in order for me to purchase a beer, either the rest of my party had to be 21 years of age, or I had to be at least 25 or older. Been to many other olive gardens. Never heard of this rule before.

I have been to a better Olive Garden on the Carlisle Pike but this one isn't bad and is closer. Everyone loves the salad and bread sticks Olive Garden serves before your meal. I don't like pasta myself but I've never met any girl who doesn't love the pasta dishes here. The restaurant has a moderate Italian design and is always very clean. They always have good waiters and the food is of course good. The dinner prices are a little higher than similar restaurants but all in all, I've always been very satisfied eating here. The only bad thing about coming here is that they always have a 1-2 hour wait for dinner on the weekends and they don't take reservations.

Olive Garden is an Olive Garden regardless of where it's at...except York PA. First, let start by saying the food here is the same as I have got at an OG in TX or NY. It's good that's why I like going to OG. I recently moved to the area from a college town. The OG there was always busy but they did their best to fill the place and move customers. So I decided to go to OG here in York around 1715 one evening a while back. Did the call ahead sitting. The "hostess" says we aren't taking call ahead seating at this time because there currently isn't a wait. Okay, I arrive 11 mins later and find a 45 min wait time. Hmmm. Well I've been back to OG in York a couple of times and insisted to the "hostess" that my call ahead seating request be taken and it worked out for me. But I have noticed EVERY time I've been there that they have PLENTY of tables and do not sit people for some reason (I always go after work around 1730). Waitstaff is just standing around and customers are waiting to be seated. Why is that? Does the waitstaff have to wait until a certain time to clock in? OG has the same dinner rush at the same time on the same days, what's the problem with them being properly staffed and prepared? One star for York's OG.

My boyfriend and I went to olive garden the other day and were very disappointed. We were sat right away but didnt get any service for over 5 minutes. We had servers look our way but nobody stopped to even say hi. I believe we were discriminated against because we are young and the servers didnt think we would tip well. My boyfriend always does at least 15%. After waiting for over 5 minutes.we got up and left and ate somewhere else. I was extremely unimpressed by my visit to olive garden and doubt my return will come anytime soon.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
