the menu should be revised dramatically, if one was Cheesecake factory which can get away with a multipage menus, but to have a huge menu, focus on the food that bring in people, crab pretzel, brick oven pizza, wings, drop some of the badly cooked items. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day on the amount of items and the blandness

Our first time going here. The first thing you notice is the place is clean. The waitress came over right away and the attention was prompt for the whole meal. We ordered wings for an appetizer with 2 different sauces. They were hot, plump and tasty. The hamburgers we had were yummy. Double patties which were REAL not frozen patties. Good service and good food. Will be back.

Horrible service!!! Chunky ice in your frozen drinks! Our chicken salads had chicken jerkey on them rather than a fresh cooked chicken breast. The waitress could have cared less. The chicken wings were good and meaty though. This was our second visit, and now our last. The only thing this place has going for it is the awesome deck on the river.

This place rocks 'cause we can pull up & dock for pizza, wings or beer ... either right there out by the river or to go to take back with us out on the boat. This place is a summertime staple for us !

Went here recently for my father's 74th Birthday party, the rest of my family had already arrived at the restaurant so when I entered, I asked the hostess if she could tell me where the "X family" was seated (a party of 15) and she told me she did not know and I would need to go and look around. MMMM, I thought to myself, isn't that your job? Oh well, I walk away, look in two different areas and eventually found them. When I got to the table they placed us at, it was set up for 10 instead of 15, and since our waitress had yet to come to the table, I asked another waiter if we could move over another table because we did not have room and he told me the manager does not like to do that. Keep in mind there were five other small tables in the same room and no customers? I asked him if the manager would like us to go somewhere else and he said he would move the table. The final blow came when the food arrived. The waitress had forgotten my dad's order and everyone else received their food but him. She never apologized and after waiting another 10 minutes for his order to arrive, I went up to the kitchen and she was walking out with my dad's order. I explained that this was my dad's birthday and I was disappointed that his order was not here, she said, it was his fault because he did not place his order when she was going around the table taking everyone's orders? This time, I thoughts and said out loud what I was thinking...it's that your job, I mean you are the waitress, right? She said nothing, not even a sorry. P.S. My father's fish and chips we not cooked the whole way through, so he couldn't even eat it...but then I guess that was our fault too. I will never go here again, Rude, unfriendly, poor service and poor management. Terrible

Went there for lunch on a Saturday. Clean place. Prompt service. Very good food. Portion size well worth the cost which was very reasonable. Will go back.

Beautiful three-tiered deck. If you go, order the river rocks appetizer. If you get salad, order the strawberry dressing. The salads come with white (cheese only) pizza. Yum. The best outdoor dining in the Harrisburg area. It can be tough to find parking, as the place gets hopping around dinner time and it is next to Dukes, another popular spot. (Skip Dukes. Willie's is much better.)

The whole wheat pizza is awesome baby!

Been here a couple of times . First time had great food and fantastic service. Next to times , not so much. Food overcooked and wait staff a bit arrogant. Like the atmosphere of the place, but don't believe that I will be returning anytime soon. Too bad.

  • Maggie G.

The food is okay, but as others have said, they might be better off trimming the menu and focusing on doing a few things really well instead of doing a little of everything just okay. There's a good selection of beers, though they don't offer an updated list of everything they have, so once you get past the basics on the menu, you have to get your server to run through the rest. There was a mouse in the dining room last time we were there, so we're not in any hurry to go back.

  • Brian R.

Nice ambiance because of the outdoor seating, although the deck isn't nearly as nice as Duke's a few doors down. The food and service here can be good or it can be very average. A nice spot to eat outside by the river.

The atmosphere on the deck is awesome, perfect for summer. If you can stand the river bugs (gnats) I totally recommend sitting out there for your meal. We had their Chicago style deep dish pizza which was totally ballin... They put the fresh mozzerella on the dough and the sauce on last, which was a delicious switch-up. The crab dip was good, as well as the jerk-seasoned boneless wings. The mixed drinks are so-so and seemed a little weak, until we got to the drunken pirate: very refreshing and got us pretty buzzed lol overall, our waitress, Devon, was awesome; very attentive and fun, with personality, although her greeting sucked. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, but it does get a little rowdy and loud as the evening goes on. I do suggest that you have an idea of what you want to eat. We weren't really sure what we were hungry for and felt very overwhelmed by the 10+ page menu... They have EVERYTHING :) enjoy!

Dockside Willies is one of my favorite casual dining restaurants in Harrisburg! The atmosphere is comfortable, the staff is friendly, the service is great and the food is delicious! They offer a menu of standard "bar food" selections, with some unique additions. I LOVE the river rocks and their wings are fantastic (my personal favorite is the river wing sauce). Their salads and sandwiches are great. I forget the name of my favorite salad, but it's similar to a chicken fajita salad and is served in a tortilla bowl. Their outdoor seating deck along the river is perfect for summer dining. It's located just across the river from City Island, so my boyfriend and I love to eat there when the Senators have fireworks after their game. They even have a separate outdoor bar on their deck! If you like a casual/sportsbar-like atmosphere, with great food at a decent price, Dockside Willies is the place!

Great selection and I love sitting outside. Never had a bad meal but service can be slow at times. Great place to take out if towners, particularly in the summer when you can eat outside on the deck!

They have the best wings ever.

Mike and i went here as i was dying to eat somewhere outside. Living in Atlanta for so long has made me homesick for the slew of outdoor eating options. I found Docksides by accident in an ad in the Patriot. There wasn't a lot reviewed on Yelp that had outdoor seating. This place is neighbors/partners with Rock bass and just down the door from Duke's. Going to go out on a limb and say they are all owned by same folks. We ordered a Wedge salad to share which was quite good. Our entree was a large Chicago style pizza. Not bad but could have been hotter. Our sever wasn't the best but not the worst we have had here in the burg. we both had cocktails and were surprised at the price of a shot of Cointreau in my TX margarita. $3! Looks like they would have a fun happy hour. Not a bad lunch; the nice shady spot and view of the river helped. WE won't be rushing back but in a "outdoor fix".... worked.

Totally average. Server was slow, and the food was unremarkable. Only redeeming feature was view of the Susquehanna.

Same s*** different day just was ignored by 3 bartenders on a Tuesday night with barely anyone at the outside or inside bar if you don't have time for me I don't have time to give you my money

  • Miranda Z.

Came here a few times for lunch in large groups. Never had a bad experience. They have so many options - even Chicago deep dish, though I wouldn't highly recommend it. I ordered the crunchy burger on the seasonal menu-it was huge but so delicious. Service was pretty good too. Best thing to do is come here in the summer and enjoy the view of the river on the dock.

  • Carol K.

The location is easy. It's just over the bridge from downtown Harrisburg. If I remember correctly, you could easily walk here from downtown. We sat outside on the deck. It reminded me of being on a beach vacation. For my meal, I had fish and French fries. The meal was appropriately priced and the portions were large. I had a soda so I cannot review the drinks. Two of us got out of there for about $30. You cannot beat the atmosphere. It would be a cool place for a group of friends for a night of light drinking.

  • Jeff H.

My adventure started with a query about the wait time for a party of 8 for a table on the deck. Answer from the hostess "we are not permitted to answer questions like that". We decided to dine inside due to the secrecy surrounding the outside deck. Our clue should've been the relatively empty indoor ding space. Food was not up to their usual quality standards. Haven't been there for a few months and the top secret seating policy and average food has guaranteed I will not return.

    (1)
  • Breen L.

Just no. Disappointed with managers customer service and food quality. Only positive is sitting by the river.

    (1)
  • Devin R.

Food was average. I had a bbq ribs and chicken combo with a side salad and Old Bay french fries. The bbq was missing the smoky flavor and was a little dry. I had to ask for extra bbq sauce. I also wish I would have gotten regular fries. The old bay seasoning with heavy and made the fries really salty. Definitely enjoyed the Riverside patio / ambiance...

  • Hugh R.

Pretty decent food, super nice staff and the view is amazing. Love the outside deck, that's one of the best deck seating I've seen in central PA.

Pizza was great, the best in the area. Good place to eat outside if the weather is nice. We will be back.

  • Sarah G.

Although they say that they are open until 2am, staff gets extremely upset and rude if you come in anywhere from 11pm on. Either change your hours, or tell you staff to suck it up and stop giving customers an attitude when they come in DURING YOUR POSTED BUSINESS HOURS. Management needs to get their staff under control, or better yet needs to hire new staff who understands that when a business is open until 2am, they're going to be there until 2am and must serve any and all customers with the same respect that they would a customer who was there during the day. The only reason for two stars instead of one is because the pizza was good. Won't be returning unless forced to.

    (2)
  • Allan B.

At least the food was hot and good except one meal was not what we ordered. BUT 2 hours and at best intermittent service. It's not the staffs fault but there just aren't enough for how many tables they ask them to cover ... Come on OWNERS step up and help your team!

    (2)
  • Joe W.

This place takes hours to seat and even longer to get your food...service is horrible and management is just as poor....if you're looking to eat dinner and not a midnight meal DO NOT eat here. I will strongly discurage people from coming here..save your money and time.

  • Kristin H.

Wow - this place had all the appeal. Perfect view on the water, fantastic menu, great drinks and lots of great beers on tap. HOWEVER, tonight we were told one hour wait for a table. Ok cool- we put our names down and went to bar. 25 Minutes later we were finally noticed by one of 3 bartenders, and were told "I'll be right with you" ...well that didn't happen either. Finally called over a gentleman helping out at bar, ordered our drinks and an appetizer. Appetizer never came - after one hour we gave up. Several others had said they had been waiting for a table for over TWO HOURS! Funny thing is, countless tables were empty and clean. Word was the kitchen just couldn't handle it. So very disappointed. If properly run, this place would be great!! Oh- and one more thing, we witnessed a bartender actually though a wrap of silverware across the bar and slid into a woman's drink, nearly spilling it onto her. Unbelievable. Zero professionalism, poor customer service. Wish I could tell you about the food but we never got any!

Whatever you do dont call there. I have been in the food and beverage business for 26 years so I am a professional in the pleasing people business. They will rarely answer the phone and if you follow the prompts to leave a message YOU CANNOT. All boxes are full. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Going to the website and hit Contact Us to find the phone number is different and not in service. But , God forbid , if the lady does answer the phone you will hear an awful, unconcerned, unaccomadating, totally unprofessional individual and will (no doubt in my mind ) take your business elsewhere. The answering machine also says go to the website to make reservations. Guess what....the B on the phone says they don't take them. My 40 ppl party will take our business elsewhere. ..To all else I say good luck and have a better day then that hag was having.

Great location. Awesome food! Try the boulders. We ordered the beer battered haddock sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, and the marguerita pizza. All were excellent. Caution! The fish sandwich can feed a family of 4.

  • Lou L.

This is one of those places that thinks because they have a good location they can lack everywhere else. Service is bad, fries were soggy and cold, sandwich was bland. Everyone else with us had a similar experience. For some reason it seems that everyone that works here is miserable. I think that says a greater thing about how this place is run. Poor management = poor employees.

    (2)
  • Elizabeth O.

Unfortunately, they lack a whole lot of parking. Inside is large and they have a fantastic patio right on the river. Unfortunately, I chocked on the driest piece of bread that came with my artichoke spinach dip. After that, I stuck to the chips that came with it, too, instead. Funny bartenders and lots to choose from on the drink menu.

Great atmosphere. Food was equally as good. Had the pulled pork sandwich, slaw, fries and a fresh brewed tea. Service was prompt, prices were fair, food was great !!! What else is there to look for is a place .. Will be back for sure, their pizza looks amazing...

After reading the comments I wasn't sure what to think. So we tried it on a Friday afternoon, while in the area for a dance competition. My wife and I walked in the door and there was nobody at the hostess stand. We waited for a few minutes, were passed by by other employees and still nobody to seat us. We walked up to a waitress and asked if we needed to seat ourselves...she apologized and seated us immediately....that was the only issue I have with this place!! We decided to try 3 different items on the menu so we could review it properly. 1. The Boneless Wings: Think Chick-fil-A nuggets on steroids! Fresh chicken hand cut into big pieces and breaded! I could have made a meal out of these. You get about a pound (10-13) and they are cheaper then the bone-in wings! The sauces we had tasted homemade. We had the The River Sauce, Sesame Garlic and Tropical BBQ, all had great flavor liked the latter 2 the best! 2. The Jamaican Burger: a double patty burger, grease running down the bun. Really good flavor....personally not a fan of Jerk seasoning in beef, but I thought it was good! 3. White Pizza: (Can't remember exact name), it was a pizzeria style thin crust, with a butter garlic sauce and 3 cheeses. This wasn't bad but I would try a different pizza next time, but that's just IMO. Overall the atmosphere is pretty cool, would like to see the place in the summer when the outside decks are hopping, it started to rain while we were there so only the smokers remained outside under cover! Great view overlooking the Susquehanna River towards the Capitol! Will definitely return sometime in the future!!

I've been here several times in the past and had bad experiences, but it seems they are changing their ways a bit. The hostess was a bit rude and slow to seat us, even though we were the only customers at the time. That is my only complaint for this particular visit. The waitress was friendly and very nice and the service was quick. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ sandwich, which was probably the best thing I have ordered there. The chips were a bit bland, but the sandwich was amazing. All in all, it was a nice experience. We sat inside due to the heat, but there's a nice deck on the river when the weather allows.

  • Ashley M.

The food is incredible!! I would visit this place everyday, if i could- it reminds me of being on vacation. The place itself is huge and has so much seating. The only downside is the one hostess clearly hates her job/life.

    (5)
  • M K.

Mediocre at best. I'm not a beer drinker. My drinks were weak and the food was pretty bad, but edible.

    (2)
  • Jess G.

Don't order a mixed drink here. Drinks are terrible. All mixer and sugar. Liquor tastes likes it's watered down. I should have just thrown my $30 I spent on drinks in the river.

I've been here three times to catch up with former high school classmates, so not only are they able to handle large groups, but they are also a place that everyone enjoys. The latest time we sat outside on the patio overlooking the Susquehanna River which is a wonderful spot to enjoy a pleasant summer evening. The wait staff was able to handle our large group with ease and good humor, including separate checks for everyone. Nothing fancy about the food - good solid hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and pizza. A comfortable spot to kick back and reminesce about old times with good friends.

Dockside Willies is one of my favorite places for the summer but after two visits this week, we're not off to a good start. I met several friends for drinks and dinner during the week. We sat at the lower bar area. Drinks were inconsistent. We ordered food and not only did it take over 30 minutes to arrive but one of our meals was missing. The server didn't realize it was missing until we brought it to his attention. It took another 20 minutes for a wrap to be delivered. The next visit was Cinco De Mayo. Sat at the lower bar area again. After the barmaid finished texting she came to wait on us. I noticed a customer sitting at a table trying to get the attention of a bartender to come over but one was texting, one was sitting on top of the coolers and another was doing stretches on the beams above him. The customer eventually had to get up and get his own drinks. I realize Duke's and Dockside Willies have the market cornered when it comes to outdoor drinks and dining but why not make it the best experience one can have. The season is just beginning but the service needs a lot of work.

I go here to sit on the deck, its one of two places to go to sit and enjoy the river. Food is okay, they need to do a really good happy hour, and not have it end at 545! Front staff can be rude and not accommodating, like making you wait for entire party if it's over 4 to seat you. But we like to pull the boats up to the dock and go up and get a drink, and the deck is great.

Very good food and service was good as well.

Great appetizers love the boneless wings in river sauce. Their Chicago Style Pizza is excellent. Their burgers are really tasty too. If you can't find something on their menu to suit you stay at home. Great choice of beers and they make an array of mixed drinks too. Service can be a hit or miss but you'll have a great time either inside or outside on the spacious multi- level decks.

  • Pamela C.

This place is a winner for me! Great prices, and service! I am sad that I haven't stopped in sooner. The river wing sauce is great - almost like a glaze. Pizza had a nice dough (for a relocated BK girl that can't find good pizza in Central PA) although I would've liked a better seasoned sauce. The best part is that they serve carnival-style fries -you know the kind that you put vinegar on....MmmHmmm. I can't wait to stop and hang out on the deck when it's warmer out.

  • Stephanie F.

Gross, with food poisoning too!. I ate here ONCE about 2 years ago and will never ever do so again. My food was the greasiest most disgusting vaguely edible meal I've ever had. And I got really really sick later in the evening into the next day. Not a good first impression, and I warn everyone to stay away from there. Ewwww!

Should be closer to 4 stars than 3 - maybe an upgrade in review after my next visit... Had been to their neighbor Rock Bass Grill the prior day and was impressed with the atmosphere @ DW, so decided to give this place a try today. Place was busy as yesterday - outside patio that is. The inside was almost empty - guess that's fair given the beautiful summer evening at hand. Was a little disappointed by the poor service once we were seated - seems like the wait staff is spread too thin in taking care of tables. Food was good though. We order a couple of cocktails - a bit lacking on the alcohol IMO and one medium pizza with some toppings. Pizza was good - toppings were well cooked and crust was well made. Tried Apple Pie for dessert - it arrived in a big cup with ice cream on top. Pie was really good and we ended up finishing most of it too :) Weak drinks and sub par service ended up me docking one star for this visit. Maybe an update in future?

  • Sara S.

Food was wonderful! I was a little disappointed because I thought there would be more seafood on the menu, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Great view and the food is served in very large portions. Service was another story... Our server was obviously new, and for some reason she had at least 10 tables while 20 other staff members sat around hanging out. It wasn't busy, but I ended up having to ask another server for drink re-fills because ours was up to her neck in orders. When we finally went to leave we passed by the hostess stand where 3 staff members were hanging out and talking. They didn't even say anything to us as we walked out. I'll probably go back again to see if things are different, but if not there's always Duke's right down the street. I've heard good things about them.

I'm surprised I haven't ventured out to this place sooner! The open 3-tiered deck reminded me of Florida! The place was getting very busy early on a Friday night around 6pm, though the two of us only waited for about 15 minutes. The restaurant staff monitors the parking lots across the street to assist you with parking for the all the neighboring restaurants for free. We sat outside on the sprawling deck, and thoroughly enjoyed the river scenery, beautiful breeze, and the live music. We ordered some drinks, which were pretty inexpensive, after reading the extensive drink list included in the menu. The menu is quite extensive, and I'd be surprised if someone couldn't find something they'd like. The drinks came out pretty fast, but we placed our food order quickly since we anticipated a longer wait. We ordered the large order of Mozzerella Sticks for an appetizer, and a brick-oven pizza with Sausage and carmelized onions. The sticks were great, almost like cheese stuffed bread, but had the same flavor as regular cheese sticks. The pizza however, wasn't as good. There was barely any sauce and the cheese was rubbery. The onions must have been sauteed in a cooking wine, because that is all the pizza tasted like. The waitress seemed to be inconvenienced whenever we asked for something, though my boyfriends glass was always filled without prompting...I had to ask for a refill. The dessert was yummmm-o! We shared the Reese's Thundercake(??). Mmmmmm, very very peanut buttery. I'd definitely try this place out again thought the pizza was lackluster and the service was eh. I'm taking into account that they were understaffed and were so busy...and will not order the carmelized onions again. The environment and ambiance was perfect for a Friday night after a long work week. I recommend to get there early and order your food fast!

Great place to go for happy hour after a long day at work! This place has delicious comfort food and it's nice to have the option to eat out on the deck when the weather is nice. The service can be a bit slow at times though, especially on the weekends.

I have been here a few times and had great food and service . I took my girlfriend here Tuesday and waited over 20 minutes and had to threaten to leave before we got severed . Our waitress could care less . We asked for a manager and told he was not there . We will not be back ..

  • Kellie F.

We were looking for a different lunch where we can sit outside, so we picked Dockside Willies. There were plenty of available tables outside that were shaded or in the sun. The menu is extensive, but the waitress helped us to narrow down our choices by telling us what were favorites at Dockside Willies. We started with Willies Crab Pretzel as a shared appetizer. Inside of ordering their famous pizzas, we shared the 3 BBQ sliders on Pretzel Rolls with an order of Duke's Bucket of Chesapeake Old Bay Fries. Of course, the Old Bay Fries were my favorite! I wasn't crazy about the Crab Pretzel as there was too much crème cheese or mayo in the crab dip...not sure which one, but it was too liquid. It's a decent place for lunch with a great view, but not much more.

This is a fun place to hang out and drink and eat along the Susquehanna River. When the weather is nice make sure to grab a table outside and soak up the Pennsylvania sun.

Been here a few times, and will not be back. First, Mojito had several dead ants in the drink. I notified the waitress and she left and came back after 15 min of waiting and told us that the drink would not be taken off the bill because of the "disclaimer in the menu" that read, "we know there are bugs outside, so if you'd like we will move you inside". It said nothing about insects in the food. I must mention there were no ants anywhere on the table or in the sand. They came from the sugar drink mix that the bar used, guaranteed. The server said "the owner doesn't remove food from bills, because so many people come here and he doesn't care about people not returning because people will always come." These were her exact words, no lie! Lastly, my hamburger came out bloody, with the blood and juices soaking into the bun. I asked for the meat medium-well. How they undercooked a burger when asked for med-well is beyond my comprehension. They did take the burger off, only because they knew I wouldn't be paying for it in the first place. Again, we will never return.

This place is decent. Not amazing, by any means, but their deck is pretty great for food and drinks during the warmer months. However, it can get really busy sometimes so going out there isn't always possible unless you're willing to wait an hour. Can't say the view is especially pretty. The river isn't exactly beautiful. Service has always been good though. They have a huge menu, which I kind of hate, because much of it is mediocre at best. However, I have found a love for their deep dish pizza. Best pizza I've found in the Central PA area thus far. Drinks were okay, nothing special. I'll probably stick to take-out deep dish pizza, but I'm not averse to dining there.

  • John C.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a bar... Although a great location and atmosphere, I was disappointed by the bartenders service as he initially greeted us without even looking us in the eye, we asked for menus and waited almost an hour after deciding and he never came back, we decided to leave after only having 1 drink. We gave up and decided to get our check, it was ridiculous as well trying to get their attention (3 bartenders) I would love to come back but to better service please!

This is a great location to sit outside on the deck next to the river! They do not take reservations so good luck getting outside without waiting. The parking is a crazy mess! The lack in the parking department. The food was good. The bucket of old bay fries as an app. Was all the yummy goodness u hoped it to be. I got a long island ice-tea which was a little under $6 dollars. I was shocked. I expected it to be more. I ordered the chicken jerk sandwich with peppers and onions. It was good and had flavor but it was an odd flavor. All in all it wasn't a bad experience but a mediocre one. I would go back to experience the deck and to try a different dish. Their hospitality is on point! Go earlier than 6 on a friday because the deck is completely full at that time. Fyi they had good entertainment on the deck.
