You know the drill. Outback has been the moderate steakhouse that rode to the top of the moderate steak category a number of years now. Sadly, the reasons they got to the top seems to be gone. It is a shell of its former glory. Still the place is always busy ( doesn't help the parking lot is so small and the restaurant blocks 6 spaces for take out or it just isn't big inside) so the managers can think they are better than they really are. Generally I can find a seat at the bar and last night was no exception. The bartenders weren't too busy so I had excellent service as there were a number of open seats round the bar. Ordered small sirloin with grilled shrimp. Caesar salad. Baked potato. The runners brought the bread and salad first. Bread is now tasteless. The salad is drenched with an over powering dressing. Romaine leaves arent crispy because I am guessing the salads sit in a fridge dressed to save time. Meal arrives. Sirloin is warm - not sizzling hot like it used to be. Looks like a crappy cut of grey tasteless meat. No longer notice the great seasoning as much as I did in the past One grilled shrimp was cold. The others warm. They were small in size, unlike before. My guess is it is cost cutting at its finest. Gone too is the garlic soaked bread you used to get under the shrimp. I decided I wasn't coming back to a place any more run by accountants, no longer interested in excellence in its food. I wont be missed since they are always busy but dont frogs drown in warm water? I hope this place wakes up and changes back to the way it was before before they lose more customers like myself. But I am not banking on it. Time to take my money elsewhere.

I made a few new friends at Outback. One was a small cockroach that greeted me at our table. The next was his winged kin who fell to drunk death in a pool of my rotten margarita. The sour mix tasted like it'd been wrung through a sock and mixed with tequila. Our server greeted us with a nervous over-zealousness and when the table behind us asked to speak with the manager, this was their exchange: Woman: I ordered the mixed green salad. This ain't mixed greens. Manager: Well ma'am I'm very sorry about that. This is the salad featured in the menu though. Woman: No, the salad on the menu says "mixed greens." This is iceberg. Manager: Oh. Well. Ok. Would you mind if I asked what exactly you mean by "mixed greens?" Woman: What? Manager: Um. We only have iceberg and romaine lettuce. Woman: Mixed greens is different shapes of lettuce. It's like spinach. But it ain't spinach. They proceed in a stare down contest and ultimately the manager, who is no match for her downtown sass, quivers and backs down. The broccoli that complimented my New York Strip tasted like it had been frozen for four years, the ketchup that came out of the bottle tasted fermented, and I actually refused to eat the mushrooms. If this is what Australia tastes like, you can count me out.

I like Outback steakhouse, and despite having far superior steak I think of Outback as my utility steakhouse. My fast food of Steakhouses. What I find very interesting about the outback in Springfield is truly how dim the lights are. It almost feel like a whorehouse more so than a steakhouse at times. Why do I like that? Because I feel like a bad man biting in to a steak so good for the price its set at. So while I am sure there are better options for a good steak, there is nothing better than just a good old fashion steak at Outback. Tip, get the oil can Foster. That will elicit some stares for sure!

I love this place! I wish they were open for lunch! It's a small place but very nice! The food is good and fairly priced. Great service. Give David Trout a shout out when you're there.

Always have had good quick service! Our staple is usually the blooming onion and loaded cheese fries as an appetizer. My boys like the kids menu, there is a good selection. I tend to order the pork chops. Steaks are good, and now they have them wood grilled...fish too. My only problem is that it is usually so crowded. Try to keep an eye on seats near the bar so that you can get a table quicker.

I've never had the chance to truly tell my Outback story on Yelp. Mainly because I haven't been back to this particular location in 6 or 7 years. It was one of those nights that scares you away from a place forever. You see, there was a time I was a semi-regular here. Back in 05 and 06, I lived in an apartment in Springfield with my girlfriend (now my wife). We used to get take out from here and eat it at home. That used to be a better option than waiting two hours for a table. I'd call the order in from work, and pick it up on the way home. It was enjoyable then. Then that night happened. It was a perfect storm of bad experiences. Not only did a chicken breast come out of the kitchen that night half raw on my plate, something in the bathroom blew up to the point they had to evacuate. I still am not sure what happened. But I never went back. Until today when I happened to be here around lunchtime. Call it curiosity. I can never figure out how Outback stays in business. I've had Outback at other locations since and been underwhelmed. I don't see the allure. I figured they would be ok since I was just in the mood for a quick burger. That's what I grabbed, along with a Caesar salad and baked potato soup. First of all, nothing I ate here today seemed to have any real flavor to it. If the soup didn't have bacon in it, it would be worthless. As my good man Tom, fellow Delco Yelper pointed out, the salad tastes like they keep it in the fridge forever and douse it with dressing. The burger, it wasn't terrible, but I think I can get better burger experiences from Wendy's or McDonald's. Even the bacon on the burger didn't have a lot of flavor to it. If you can't get flavor out of bacon, you're just not trying. I still don't get the allure. You can get better greasy food at a drive thru.

Came here for dinner last night and surprisingly was seated right away on a Saturday night no wait. I ordered the blooming onion for appetizer (it was very greasy) an only cold eat a few peels. For my entree I ordered the Ribeye Steak with garlic mash potatoes an broccoli. The ribeye didn't look like any ribeye I've ever seen an it's usually tender .. The potatoes seem like they had been arnd awhile an was not creamy the way I wld have liked..The broccoli was good. No server issues she was great an checked on us several times through out our dinner.

Called to add our name to the wait list on 8-3-2015 at 6:10 pm. Was told the wait would be 40 minutes. When we were arrived we were told just another 20 minutes. It is 7:26 and we just got seated after the FOH manager told us we were only over by 7 minutes. Either their iPads are broken or someone didn't do their job. This location has gone downhill!

What ever the round onion thing was, it was yummmmmmmy! Nice and crispy on the outside with tender sweet onions in the inside. I had the Moonshine wings and I felt the wings needed to be cooked longer because the skin texture was all kinds of weird. Service was service. Lady kept a smile, what more could we ask for?!

My experiences with this place are usually fine. simple but yet inexpensive steaks. the place to go if you're craving just to go out to have a steak. however, I had to give this place a 3 stars. honestly, it ONLY made it to 3 stars because the manager gave us complementary desserts. We got the mini milkshakes and they were just incredible! ESPECIALLY for only $2.99!! what went wrong that made my experience terrible: -Got the wrong order. I specifically ordered the Rib eye bone in and I ended up getting a porter house (t-bone steak basically). It wasn't even Medium rare as I ordered it was RARE. However I just struck through it and just ate the parts that were medium rare. -my girlfriend didn't like her steak so she told them that she would like to order something else and that was fine. solved, no complaints, great service. However, when she did order her steak, it was undercooked. When we got it back, it was burned to the bone. It was so burned the bone was black and falling apart. -After a while, our server never came back. I'm assuming she just left since we didn't see her at all come to us after she gave us our to go boxes. We did wait for about 20 minutes until an random server came to us and suddenly became our server out of the blue. we then we're notified that our dessert was on the house by this random server and that our check is ready. this struck me because it was just like "did our waitress just literally ditch us right now?????". Yeah that happened. overall, it was confusing. recommended if you just want a 'quick to go to' steak house.

This was the worst outback experience ever. Waitress was weird. Salads came late, second before main course. Two of the steaks ordered weren't right. One was sent back twice. I had mahi-mahi that was dry. Oh yea, drinks are served to wrong people. Each time the steak came out wrong she would ask us "what spectrum of pink would you prefer?" Spectrum? Really? No refill on my drink either. Sorry for rambling but this was the worst ever. Glad my hometown outback isn't this bad!

Not stellar. Ordered a filet & salad. The bread and salad were the highlights of my meal. The filet was overcooked - didn't want to wait for them to redo it. Overall disappointed.

Great place to go for a beer and a solid steak. I do not typically frequent big chains, but as a company Outback has the exact same execution anywhere in the country. I was once in Columbia, Missouri and ate at Outback 3 days in a row because I knew what I was getting and I enjoyed all the different preparations of sirloin. (I also didn't have transportation and could walk to the restaurant, but it was still good.) The vegetables are always perfect, and the sweet potato is done just right. Back in Springfield, PA the same attention to detail and consistency is apparent. I have never had a bad meal here and I have been going here for years, usually about 3 times a year on average. I am a fan, and Outback is the only chain that I know of that actually does a great job of marketing and food preparation. I do curbside pickup more now than actual eating in the restaurant because the volume this store does is insane. My best tip for this particular place is not to wait for a table. Stand in the bar and wait for a high top or eat at the bar. This only works if you are out with your wife or husband or fellow Foster's drinker. If you wait for a table, you may actually die of old age, as again, this place is literally one of the busiest restaurants I have seen in Delco.

Had the best time at outback the blooming onions are the best..... I had a big piece of steak and all-you-can-eat shrimp I think I ate about 50 of them LOL!!!!! Clean and friendly staff and very fast on bringing your food I give them five stars and five thumbs-up great place thanks for your service

With so many great independent places popping up in Delco I just cant understand the huge waits at chain places like this. If you have a bunch of little kids that's one thing but people literally wait hours to get in to this place. I was dragged here the last time I went and it will be my last. It's a steakhouse yet I got a tiny little steak literally covered in salt. I just don't get the fascination with places like this. They're all dirty and most of the food is microwaved. Seriously. You all realize that right? These chains don't have actual chefs. Just preparers.

Went to the curbside tonight. The parking lot along is enough to scare you away. The parking spots for curbside are at the end of the lot which makes no sense to me. Finally got a parking spot. Had to wait 10 mins for the waiter to come to my vehicle then another 10-15 mins for him to bring my food. I have never liked this franchise and it's good to see things don't change.

Let me preface my review by saying that I am not a fan of chain restaurants. But I was craving shrimp and unlimited shrimp ultimately swayed my dining decision for the evening. The food was good, shrimp are kind of small but who can complain when you can eat 100 of them if that's what you fancy. The service was what really wowed me. From the wait staff to the bartender to what I assume was an assistant manager EVERYONE was awesome! They all seemed to really enjoy their work environment and each other, which really shows in their treatment of the customer. This was my first time to this location and while I can't promise to become a regular I will absolutely be back! Great job guys!

I don't know how this place only has three stars. This has become our favorite place when we dine out. And I will admit that I'm not a big fan of the corporate chain restaurants. But this place can't get it wrong. No matter how busy they are. This place runs like a machine. And consistent. The staff never looks stressed or hurried. They all help each other. The management is also very nice and hands on. The food is amazing. The portions are the perfect size. We went on the night where they do the 11.99 specials last time. Excellent! Steak cooked to perfection. The price was unmatchable for a three course meal. Were headed here tonight and I can't wait. We always call ahead and its worth it as we get seated within a few minutes. The whole experience here is great. I look forward to witnessing them pulling off another miracle on a weekend when they're super busy

Super long line and terrible steaks. It's ironic that it's a steakhouse, but the steak might be the worst thing on the menu. I might say it's redeemable because the prices are relatively reasonable, but I've come here three times over the course of 6 years and each time, the steaks have been dry and tough.

It's an outback, so you know what your getting. i'm not sure what they do to their bread, but its addictive and i normally end up eating a loaf myself. overall, the outback special is a tough deal to beat.

I came in here on a Thursday night and it was jam packed but I was able to sit at the bar.I was told by several people that the burger here is awesome!!!...The service was quick considering the crowd,I highly recommend getting the butter and sour cream baked potato instead of fries,it's much healthier plus after doing dozens of burger reviews I've only had one good batch of fries and that was at "Good Dog" so here's the breakdown Bun--a little bit on the hard side Meat--very good but so small I could eat 20 of them Toppings--typical,nothing special

I really don't know how people can constantly go back to these " family restaurants". Upon arrival, the place looked dim, there was some sort of stench I couldn't quite put my finger on..and the service was lacking. SERVICE: Although she was very nice ( can't remember her name, tall slim blonde), her service was subpar at best. It honestly took her about 13 minutes to take our order. She came over 3 separate times without taking our orders. A seasoned server would have taken our order after she got our drink order. She literally came by to 1) drop off menu 2) ask us if we wanted water 3) took our beer/milkshake order 4) came back with his beer 5) we placed our order 6) I then got my milkshake midway thru the meal... I even told my boyfriend that if they didn't bring the milkshake soon i was going to cancel the order and make sure I wasn't charged for it at the end. Service gets a SOLID 2 STARS that is it FOOD/Drinks 2.5 stars at best Milkshake: I'll give this one 5 stars. Gingerbread mini milkshake for $2.99 bring it ON! It was delicious!! This is the 0.5star+ French onion soup: HYPERTENSION GALORE!! How many grams of sodium are in this? I had to add loads of water in this just to balance my tonicity... TBH it tastes quite good until the salt overload gets to you Bloomin onions: 3 stars. Good. Salty. Fried very well though. Steak with mushroom marsala sauce: 1 star. They call THAT a steak? From a STEAKHOUSE (in your name). It was this tiny little piece.. size of my girly hands. Cooked until it was shriveled into a small little piece. Served on an individual plate, looked even worse. For 9.99, that is gosh darn SHAME. shame shame shame Steak on foccia lunch special: 1 star. The steak pieces were so over done, poured mounds of salt over it, served on bread. I couldn't even eat this or box it up. Thrown away Would I return? le no. Probably for the milkshake.. if I wanted it THAT bad

A chain restaurant with a huge waiting to get in line on a Wednesday night? I couldn't believe it, but it was true. The place was restaurant was crowded with dinners with yet another crowd waiting to be seated. Eventually I went in along with 10 others and have to confess that the food was very good, particularly the blooming onion and though they had heard of preparing meat Pittsburgh but didn't know how to do it, I can overlook. I wouldn't stand in line to get into this place as it is an Outback just like all the other Outback's, but I did have a very pleasant prime rib meal along with really good, friendly, professional wait service.

Went there with my daughter tonight I had given a few outback gift cards at christmas and had $20. Bonus card. So we went around 7:30 on a Sunday mind u that they close @9 pm the hostess was very gracious I don't know her name but we went there 2-8-15 as we waited at the bar the bartender asked to c r I.d. Which made my night thank u I don't kno her name either but she had a tatoo on her wrist/forearm. We where seating within the 35 minutes they said our waitress Kathleen was wonderful a really sweet girl with a adorable baby son. We order a blooming onion and then placed r order for dinner we were talking and having a good time when r meals arrived the manager steph lavin came over and gave us a coupon for a free appetizer she said it was for us waiting a long time for r dinners like I said we were enjoying each other's company we did not even realize that it took long. But that was a very nice gesture on her part. She even came over as we were leaving to apologize again. All in all it was a great night food was delicious service was excellent thank u Kathleen . Funny thing is I haven't been to a outback in probably 10 years but I certainly wii b back . Thank u for a great night. One last shout out to the guy that sat us he was also very nice and friendly.

Was excited to go to Outback, because I hadn't had one of their steaks in years. My wife and I arrived at the restaurant and were told that there was a 25 minute wait on a Wednesday night at 8:30 P.M. Luckily, we were able to grab one of the tables around the bar (which are first come first serve). As soon as we sat down, my wife's face went from glee to shock. I whipped my head around just in time to see what she was looking at. A mouse had run out of the kitchen and went behind the bar. The manager came over to our table when we mentioned the incident to our server. He offered to move us to a different table, but that was the extend of trying to fix the situation. I have worked at many restaurants and the way that situation should have gone would have been for dinner to be on the house. After all, the last thing a restaurant needs is customers blabbing about their rodent problem? Right? A staff member I met in the bathroom (not my server or the manager) mentioned to me that this was the first time he was aware of a mouse being spotted out front....Which of course implies that they have seen a good number of mice in the kitchen. Food was O.K. I ordered my wings hot and they came out mild. I sent them back and show was made of taking them to the kitchen and then returning them to the table. The same wings returned and no changes were made. Even with the mild sauce, the wings were pretty good. The steaks were not bad; the Wood-Grilled Steak my wife ordered exceeded my expectations, but my steak was overcooked. My baked potato was small and was covered in butter and sour cream, even though I said I only wanted sour (minus the bacon bits I asked for). I don't think I will be going back. The food was decent (I especially like the Caesar salad), but the mouse problem is probably going to keep me away.

An Outback is an Outback is an Outback. Is there anything different about his one? Yes there are two things and neither of them are good. 1. Believe it or not this is one of the busiest Outback's in the entire chain! This in little ole Springfield, PA. As a result on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and any holiday it is completely, ridiculously insane. Would you believe two hour waits! I wouldn't wait two hours for the hottest Steven Starr restaurant never mind an at best average steak in a chain atmosphere! 2. The parking lot is a joke. The Outback crazies overwhelm it. What fun driving around and around looking for a space. If you are dying to eat in a chain restaurant you're in the right place. This section of Baltimore Pike is lousy with them. None of them are great but some of them are better than here. I will give the bartenders a couple of points. If I'm shopping in the area I'll sometimes stop in at odd times (3:00 PM) for a beer.

Let me just say- outback is one of my favorite places go go. It's always a fun time when I go with family or friends. The wait doesn't bug me much- because the food is worth it. Most of the staff at this location are friendly. The decor is beautiful. My only complaints for this place are : the hostesses lately are crabby girls that seem to hate work. One in particular was very rude to my father. Also, portion sizes are much smaller. The side salad (my favorite part) is so small now. And for dessert, I get the cheesecake usually. Which is an itty bitty slice for 5$! It's insane.. I don't mind eating a small piece of cake, but it's crazy that it's 5$ for it. But I will always return to this location because it's the only one close to me, and you don't see me at Charlie browns steakhouse EVER!

There's a lot a hatin' going on in the reviews here. It ain't the ritz but I enjoy going to Outback a few times a year. I was torn between three and four stars but the service here has always been good to me and the food predictable, which I would consider a positive for a place like this. I mean, they have the outback special for only $10, yea its just 6oz of a regular sirloin steak but its a good, cheap way to get a filling meal if you don't feel like cooking yourself. And for a greasy food lover like myself, nothing beats the bloomin onion. When I do go, I go early cause it gets super crowded later in the evening, even on the weeknights and although I like it, it's not worth waiting more than 20 mins or so for a table

    (4)
  • Marc P.

Pretty generic about all Outbacks but not a bad place to go once in a while. The bread is SO good and bloomin' onion...I don't even have to explain. Steaks are okay, but a step up from Applebee's. Get there early or be ready to wait for a table.

  • Ethan T.

This place is always busy and jammed pack. The wait is always about 45 minutes but I always looks over crowded due to the poor lobby set up. The food is always above par but the take out portions have always been meager. Never had a problem with service.

Don't eat at this location - the hostesses don't wash their hands! Before I sat down, I went to the restroom & saw a hostess in there. She had just exited the stall - walked to the sink, adjusted her clothing, played with her hair, and left! I went directly to the hostess station & complained. She walked up & said she was clean because she had gone to wash her hands in the kitchen, where they all wash their hands! Where the food is prepared! After she touched God-knows-how-many things along the way! And all the hostesses thought that was just fine! I called the Springfield board of health several times, but no one ever called me back. FYI - I have seen servers at the both Conshocken & Rt 202 locations wash their hands properly for 30 seconds. I'm not crazy, I don't stalk them, I just happened to notice.

Not much of a point to do call ahead seating. Well, that's not true rather than wait an hour to be seated you have to wait 20-30mins. Also, the parking lot is usually filled up. Those are my two gripes. Otherwise the food is surprisingly good for a chain and the price is reasonable. The service is decent enough. Usually this place is packed so overall the servers hustle and do an adequate job. I usually request Jason, he is by far the best server here. I usually come two or three times a year because I convinced my mom that an outback gift card for a present is way better than whatever crazy clothing choices she sends me. That being said, if anyone wants a black T-shirt with and Eagle and the Statue of Liberty on it hit me up.

Good place to dine. Friendly staff and great food. Drinks are good too. Nice atmosphere at night. I can't say anything bad about Outback except that it's tough to get a table quickly because they're the go to place. Wonderful spot.

So there I was, free steak voucher in hand. I was excited. I walk into the restaurant to find out where to pick up my delicious to-go bag. The hostess shows me where to stand at the back of the restaurant. I wait. Several servers pass me, as this is apparently the way to the kitchen. Each and every one of them stops to ask if I am being helped. Not just one. Not even two. But ALL of them. When the person manning the to-go...hallway?...shows up, he is also friendly. When I have the receipt in my hand, fewer servers stop to see if I need anything, but several of them are undeterred and insist on asking if I need help. Or they at least smile. As someone who has waited tables for several years, I am totally baffled by this inexplicably cheerfulness. A manager walks by with a tray of what look like cocktail party food sandwich pieces. He (AGAIN) asks me if I was being helped, and then offers me a piece of this amazing morsel that is apparently their new steak foccacia sandwich. I'm terribly confused at this point. Then it hits me: why am I so horribly perplexed by a restaurant DOING IT'S JOB?! Astounding. I was that much more excited about my food when I left. The only catch? The steak was supposed to be medium, it was definitely more well done. And thus, dry and not as flavorful as I had been dreaming of. Which reminds me (tangent): who the hell orders a steak well done? There is nothing flavorful or satisfying about dry meat. Just stop it. That being the case, I would still go back just for the staff! They were wonderful.

The only reason this restaurant isn't getting five stars is because it lacks originality. But it's a chain restaurant, so what do you expect? The wait here can get ridiculous, so call ahead, or you may be faced with a wait up to an hour. All that being said, the food here is good. It's a mass produced steakhouse, but when I want an affordable meal better than most, this is my go to place. The wait staff is responsive, the management is attentive. I have had orders messed up, who hasn't, but the manager has been more than accommodating. And their beer is always fresh. They serve typical beers, but they rotate their stock frequently. All in all, a good place to eat.

    (4)
  • J F.

This Outback has decent food and service, but both fluctuate to some degree. The waits are anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, especially if you arrive later in the evening. If you want to avoid the masses, make an early dinner date here.

    (4)
  • Tim B.

I don't get it. You're going to get a better burger or what have you at Five Guys or Nifty Fifty's and at a way better price point. You could get better beer or cocktails or whatever at a hundred different places. You could get better steak by walking into an Acme, buying a strip steak and frying it on the hood of your car. But the place is crowded. I get that sometimes you just want to go someplace and keep the kids happy and have a bunch of fried crap and beef, but seriously, even in chain-restaurant terms, you can do way better than this. The waitstaff at this particular Outbreak are even unusually bad for this type of restaurant: I think every time I've knuckled under to the inevitable and ended up here, something memorably horrible has happened with the waiters or the bartenders. It really makes you realize that branding does matter--and that people often really don't care whether what they're paying good money for is total crap.

I went to a marvelous Matisse exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum (the one where Rocky trained, running up and down the stairs). We had no time to explore the 'hoods,' where I know a lot is happening. Again, I was with Robin, my stepdaughter, and her husband, before the baby arrived. But then mercifully, than fully, they stopped at The Outback on the way home to the City. NYC). (I could have made them go where I really wanted to, but the mercury was above the 100's, so I skipped the arguments). I ate at The Outback near Pembroke Pines Florida, with my Mom, so I knew it was good. But it was even better with my contemporaries, where we could kick back with a few Bloody Marys. (Not that my Mom, God bless her - always a young and tough chick at heart - does not enjoy her Bloody Marys, lol). We had burgers, huge and satisfying, and perhaps their most addictive item, perhaps their own invention - the Bloomin' Onion. Well, diet or no diet, I will have this every time! And the salad, for me, preferably with the Blue Cheese dressing. If you have to eat fast food, this is pretty damn great! Go, OUTBACK. Wish I'd grown up Aussie.
