After checking out the reviews of all the near Sushi places around Pottstown. My boyfriend and I were very happy with our experience here. Honestly, The best service and freshest Sushi we both have ever eaten. It was fantastic. Whats even better is the coupons they offer on their site! How great is that for a "Date Night"!? We will definitely be returning!

Best Asian take out in Pottstown that I have found. Love Veekoo in Royersford, but Sakura is closer to home for me. Great chicken fried rice. Love the crab wonton appetizer. Shrimp with lobster sauce is very tasty. Chicken with mushrooms is good with terrific brown sauce. Chicken with cashews is also a favorite of mine. Good cooked special rolls. I have not tried the raw rolls. Nice friendly service. I get take out from here about once a month and I am consistently satisfied.

By far the worst sushi restaurant. I've been here for dinner and another time for lunch and both times I have regretted going there. The sushi rolls are extremely small and they do not put everything that's supposed to be on the roll. You'll be surprised to find that what they give you is different than its description. You can taste the low quality fish. Their sushi is even worse than the basic sushi you get at a Chinese buffet. Absolutely terrible! I'm worried about getting sick from eating here, therefore my friends and I will never be returning. The restaurant is always empty, which I should have taken as a warning before stepping foot into this hole in the wall. Stay away from this place!

We are ashamed to have never visited Sakura before this year. My wife went in July for a birthday lunch and enjoyed her meal very much. She begged me to take her back a few weeks later. We got Chicken Udon, Pork Shumai, Vegetable Tempura, a Spicy Tuna Roll, Miso soup, an Eel Avocado roll and a California Roll. The Udon soup was lackluster. They were exceptionally skimpy on chicken, it might have had 1/10 of a pound in little strips. The broth was extremely lacking in flavor. The noodles were good, but all in all I felt ripped off at having paid $11 for it. The shumai was very tasty but again, not worth the price. It was $6 for 4 pieces that were about 1/3 the size of a dim sum restaurant's. The vegetable tempura was very good, but I can't rave over essentially batter dipped veggies. The miso soup was excellent, my wife says the best she's had.... and she uses Miso as a benchmark whenever trying a new place. My wife's sushi rolls were very good, she got the eel avocado on her first visit and loved it enough to order again. AND THE SPICY TUNA ROLL: Holy shit. I don't like sushi. I never have. I want to like it, and I've tried it many places. THIS spicy tuna roll was so delicious. I loved it and I ordered a second one. Next time I visit I'mma get a 3-roll special and tell them I want Spicy tuna roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy tuna roll.

Solid Sashimi, specialty rolls are nice and fresh with texture and clean flavors. Good service. The dining room is usually empty, but not sure why. BYOB pottstownprovisions.com/…

My customer told me about this restaurant and he was so excited about his experience that I had to try it myself. He was right, this is a really nice well kept secret. For a year and a half I drove by because it is location in a strip mall and the curb appeal is questionable but you should get over that real quick. The interior is well appointed, clean and elegant. The food was mind blowing my eyeballs literally roller back in my head. Bottom line I am hooked

Sub-mediocre. Don't be fooled by the snazzy name and attractive menu. The chinese dishes come out of the same chinese cold pack kitchen as every other classless chinese restaurant in Pottstown. From the freezer to the microwave to your table. Take $30 bucks and head straight to the bathroom. Drop the bills in the toilet and flush. Guaranteed you'll find it more satisfying.

I was here on Tuesday night with my husband and godmother. My godmother does not eat sushi. We ordered red curry, shumai, sesame chicken, mango salad, avocado salad, "ROMANCE ROLL", the $25 sushi special, and two special lobster rolls to go (for my dad at home). As a well traveled diner and avid tuna fisher, immediately we recognized the tuna was terrible. We didn't eat that part. I asked our waitress many times "is this cooked?" before I ate it because I saw how $h!t_y the "tuna" looked. She assured me all was cooked and I ate it. It was good. Very blunt: exiting the parking lot, my husband and I got awful stomach cramps. During the 10 minute drive home, I had to vomit. In addition, we got sick in the car and went home to an evening of diarrhea and vomiting. The next morning we called the restaurant and they totally discredited us since we didn't go to the hospital. Why would I go to the hospital? My husband is a doctor. I have never, ever experienced such awful customer service. When a customer tells you they got sick after eating your food, own it. APOLOGIZE. We know what we ate the days prior (nothing else that was the same except for the food at Sakura). I am not a difficult person and I do not like causing problems, but I really believe they should have APOLOGIZED and owned it. Good luck eating there, because they obviously stand by their very old fish.

Some of the best food I have had since Orlando, keep up the great work you are doing.

The decor is nice and clean. The prices are great. The yummy roll was my favorite. I would recommend it!

This is hit or miss. The food is good but there is a massive difference in price between lunch and dinner pricing. The portion size is just about the same though. Therefore, I would strongly recommend it for lunch but I would find it hard to recommend for dinner. Same applies for environment. Some days its completely empty and quiet which is great for meetings. Other days it is super loud and hard to hear the person you are sitting next to.

Our go-to sushi place in the Pottstown area, and honestly, it's on par with some of the fancier sushi places we've eaten in big cities like Philadelphia. It's a little on the pricey side for the area, but WORTH IT (and they regularly offer coupons). The decor is on the dark side, creating a more intimate atmosphere with dim lighting, dark walls and dark tile floor. It's lovely. Not great for kids though (which I don't mind in a "date night" type place) - it's small and there's nothing to really absorb sound. We make sure we keep our 5 year old occupied when we go because we don't want him disturbing other patrons. Their sushi is phenomenal. Phenomenal. Very fresh, creative and delicious. We have ordered the Love Boat sushi (worth every penny) but generally order the Today's Special Sushi Bar where you get 2 rangoons, 2 gyoza, pineapple and 2 special rolls for $25. We order 2 of these specials and choose 4 different rolls, and it's a BEAUTIFUL presentation. The chefs clearly take pride in their work. Our hands down favorite is the Sakura roll, which we order every time: Spicy tuna crunch inside, outside with yellowtail jalapeno sauce with red tobiko. We've also ordered the Godzilla Roll, Volcano Roll, Black Jade Roll, Sunshine Roll, TNT Roll, and some other special rolls and have never been disappointed. We're also fans of the creative Monster roll, where the chefs uses pulled apart crab stick on top of the roll to give it a "monster" like appearance. Last time we went, we took our son with us and ordered Chinese for him - what every little kid eats - sweet and sour chicken. The waitress was VERY nice to him and even put together a pair of chopsticks with a rubber band and a piece of paper so he could eat his "chinese chicken nuggets" with them. He was thrilled and ate a good bit of the huge portion of them. He also thoroughly enjoyed the lo mein noodles and the hot tea. We always leave there feeling full and very satisfied. I'd highly recommend Sakura

My wife, son, and I stopped by Sakura on the off chance of finding a restaurant with an Asian flair that was different than the several buffets and take-out places we have in the area. Sakura is a breath of fresh air in this mix. With a definite modern Asian feel to the place we were treated to excellent sushi and main dishes. The sushi was presented with flair and style, well beyond the normal wooden tray approach. If you're looking for something better than the others, and even better than most of the restaurants in the area in general, it would be worth your time to stop by and enjoy some time and food in Sakura.

Pottstown is severely lacking in good restaurants. Sakura is my father's and my go-to place for dinner out. We're both fans of sushi and, while I'm sure this isn't the best in the world, it is some of the best you can get in the area. It tastes fresh, it's flavorful, the spicy rolls are genuinely spicy, and the presentation is lovely. One of my personal favorites is the Pottstown roll (shrimp tempura, tuna, eel sauce, and wasabi mayo). The miso soup is good, the tempura is great, and the Chinese fare is definitely better than take-out. The waitstaff is attentive - service is quick and our drinks are never empty - and the atmosphere is pleasant. All in all, Sakura is pretty good, and much better than other local restaurants.

I went here with a friend on 2/23/13 to try the sushi. The decor was very nice. We were the only ones in there so our service was very good. The food is another story. We ordered our sushi - three rolls for about $11. My friend noticed the color of the yellowtail stating that it just didn't look right. She smelled it and said it smelled racid. I picked up a piece of my spicy tuna and it smelled horrible to say the least! We called the waitress over and told her about the yellowtail and the smell of all the rolls. She said they just got it in yesterday and that it's good. Needless to say we did not eat the sushi and walked out. We will never be going there again.

It's about time we got a sushi place. Staff is friendly, good quality food. A bit pricy for sushi.

So I've eaten here three times now. I really had higher expectations but Sakura is doomed to fail. I'm not suggesting they will close, just fail in the sense of dining standards. The decor is trying to be upscale modern Philly or New York style, but it falls short. But it is still nice compared to other restaurants in the area. The service was acceptable and the staff friendly. Where it falls short is the food. First, the menu is way too big. A classic mistake. No restaurant can produce excellence when there are 100 items on the menu. They should pair down and remove the Chinese items. Stick with Japanese and even try regional concoctions. I understand that this is Pottstown, so most folks are less cultured and expect the standard fare, but they should try and break free from that thinking. The locals would really embrace that. Our food was at best average. The sushi and various rolls were near flavorless. I think it points to a lot of frozen ingredients. Which makes sense when you see the size of the menu for such a small footprint of a restaurant. We will likely not return. Anyway, while we really welcomed another restaurant in Pottstown, Sakura has fallen into the local trap. And with restaurants like Funky Lil Kitchen potentially closing, Pottstown has solidified itself as a dead restaurant experience. Too bad.

Since moving from Philly to the Pottstown area a year ago, my wife and I have been dying for some decent Asian food. Since then, all the Asian places we've tried were mediocre. From greasy Chinese take-outs to over-priced Asian Fusion, nothing satisfied our palate until this place came along. This restaurant has been open for about three weeks and from chit-chatting with the server, things have been a little on the slow side since they are new. Therefore, I wanted to give this place the honor of my first review because they are well deserving of it and I hope they stay in business. Aside from their beautiful contemporary decor, their food compliments the place really well. Their menu prices were very reasonably priced and affordable. When my wife and I were there, we decided to try both their Japanese and Chinese cuisines. We ordered their beef lo mein combination with egg roll and fried rice. Their beef lo mein came out perfect. The noodles were perfectly fried and the beef was very tender which had a smoky, wok-fried taste to it. The side of pork fried rice was among one of the most authentic fried-rices we've tried in the area. Not greasy at all. In addition, we also got the chicken teriyaki entree. The chicken was cooked perfectly and came out very moist and tender. This is one of the few places that would care to slice the chicken correctly, against the grain so the meat pulls apart easily. At the end of the meal, we ended it with a green tea flavored ice cream dessert which was absolutely amazing. The service staff was accommodating, very friendly, and quick to serve. We will definitely be back to try their sushi menu next time.

We ordered the chicken pad thai again last night, and it was different. Too much basil. It was horrible. I can no longer recommend their thai food.

We always get a great meal for the whole family. The little ones like their lo mein and fried rice and the wife and I get tasty, fresh sushi. Staff is friendly and BYOB is awesome. Pottstown is an area that is almost devoid of any unique cuisine, but this is definitely one of the best restaurants in the area.

My new favorite Sushi place. Excellent friendly and attentive service and the sushi//sashimi is FANTASTIC! we have been here 3 times now, sit at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef knows my likes and dislikes already! Always fresh, and always delicious. We get the love boat and it is never the same - the chef is extremely creative and the boat is like a piece of art. Definitely check out Sakura if you are in Pottstown. Sorry Veekoo, eat your heart out!

Great sushi and sashimi in a tiny little strip mall. Food is outstanding and a great value for the money. Wait staff needs some more English lessons, but it was fun trying to communicate. Our first visit...we will be back

Visited this restaurant three times in the last 7 days. The service, food quality and price cannot be beat. They have a huge variety of Chinese and Japanese foods. Thus far, I have only tried their Japanese fare. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. They have great specials and everyone there has been very warm and welcoming. I'm very excited to be moving closer to Sakura next month!

Sakura far exceeded my expectations. We have eaten here four times since they opened and we've been impressed each time. The sushi and the rolls (both standard and special) are fresh, flavorful and well presented. We've tried 8 of the special rolls and we've enjoyed them all. The two salads we've tried were a great with the sushi, we especially enjoyed the crab/mango salad - both times it was clear that they select only ripe mangos and they take time with the presentation as the mango and cucumber are cut with precision. Would it matter if they weren't, not really, but it proves that they take a careful approach to what they do. We have also ordered a number on Chinese and Thai dishes from their menu. They were all freshly made, sauces were not too heavy or salty and frankly they made Chinese takeout anywhere else local look bad. We are huge fans of Veekoo in Royersford and Sakura is certainly on par with them.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
