Food is really good for cheap Chinese but everyone knows cheap isn't great food. This place is cleaner than most Chinese restaurants and the staff is pleasant when you call in for take out. It can get very busy being a sole Chinese option in a small town so call ahead. You won't be upset with what you get portion wise or quality wise

Just had dinner. Soup & fried rice were ok. Ordered Wor Su Duck. Waiter promised it would not be dry. When I told him he stated it was not dry without looking at the plate. It was so dry I tried to put a brown gravy on it to try to salvage the dish. It didn't work. This duck could not be saved. Worse than the dish was the attitude of the waiter. Did not really care and was not going to do anything. Service like this could close a Restaraunt. Save your money and eat somewhere they like to accommodate the customers. Between the food and attitude this was 1/2 star. STAY AWAY.

Not the greatest Chinese food as the rest of the reviews state. At one time (I remember when this business first started, it was better than it is now) the food was really good--- they always have a nice presentation(even now) but something in particular bothers me, their rice seems to be hit or miss. I've had their rice one week where its crunchy and uncooked or another day its greasy and hardly any flavor.(I can't say anything on their white rice) The vegetable quality in their lo-mein seems to be very sub par as well. It's like the veggies are days old and they throw it in at the last second. On the other hand, their eggrolls are the best in town! (comparing the nearby towns of Port Jervis and Westfall Chinese retaurants--- each about 10-15 minutes away) they are generously filled and satisfyingly crispy.

Its the only chinese resturant in town. LITERALLY!! The food is ok. Stick to the basics. Don't get too fancy when ordering if you want a good dinner.

I'm getting a vibe from Milford...and it is that the food is really nothing too exceptional. Chang Mao is pretty normal Chinese food - what I refer to as "crappy" Chinese food, but that's not necessarily bad. Just like I can live in Chicago and crave Pizza Hut every once in a while, Every so often I need a fix of really Americanized Chinese food, and that's what we have on offer here. My friend and I both started with hot and sour soup, which was good, but not great. It was pleasantly spicy, but could have used a little more vinegar for more tang. The pork in it was fine, tofu was good. Not bad. I had Hunan Beef, he had Szechuan Beef, and I think both were just OK. Regular meat, regular veggies, regular sauce. I look back at reviews like this and I think I should have written more, but honestly, there's just not that much to say. This place is fine, nothing offensive about it, but there's nothing to set it apart. We might be back if we get hungry for something different, but I wouldn't make any promises. Gordy's it ain't, but then again, nothing is - and I definitely didn't expect it to be.

If you're rolling through Milford and looking for a familiar meal, especially if its American-Chinese, stop at Chang Mao. It does not look like a take out place you will find in the city. No paper menus or pictures of their food. The have real menus and it looked like a full bar. It seems that lunch time is the best time to go. You could see that there are a lot of regulars that stop by during that time. The service was a little slow (I'm from NY and I'm use to your food already waiting for you when you're just walking in the door) but it gave you time to enjoy your tea, chat with the person you're with and enjoy your soup. I have to say that their prices are pretty great, no more than $7 for a lunch special with an egg roll. The sesame chicken was excellent... if you like sweet and crunchy chicken :D My beef with Chinese veggies was standard.

Chang Mao is the Chinese gem of Milford, PA. My parents moved to Milford over a year ago and like variety in their cuisine. This restaurant has been in Milford for over twenty years and since this is a small town - I imagine patrons would be unforgiving if the food was not good. That being said, I took my Mother for lunch yesterday and it was wonderful. We spent around $12.00 (she said....$12.00) and was given so much food, we had to take it home. The Egg Foo Young was delicious and the lunch special came with an egg roll, wonton soup, choice of rice, tea, & fried noodles with duck sauce. This restaurant actually reminded me of another Chinese-American restaurant our family used to frequent as a child. The atmosphere is pleasant and our waitress was nice. I live in New York so I am particular about service. This is a Chinese-American restaurant which I believe works well here in the community. I will definitely be back again when I come to visit.

Nothing really stood out. Soups weren't good. Meal was fresh but underwhelming.

Since it not much to choose from after 9pm we decide to try chinese. Ordered a hot and sour soup that did not taste all that good to me. Shrimp rolls and the shrimp lo mein was ok. Sorry, this palce was nothing to brag about at all. I guess when you have brooklyn's famous kum kau chinese food my expectations are rather high.

Very good tasting food, pleasantly presented. Tea and complementary dipping noodle appetizer. Service is somewhat inattentive, though.

Service was fast, but indifferent. Not welcoming. Food was at average at best, but suffices if you have a craving.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
