I loves me some beer. And this place has an incredible selection. Everything from Yuengling to obscure German imports and they get extra kudos for carrying beer from my beloved Northwest. The food is spectacular and you get huge portions for the price. Definately try the Reuben or the Eggplant Parm Sandwich for lunch if you are in the area.

The music is loud on the weekend so if that's not for you stay away. Beyond that the food is good, frequently new creative menu options, not always the same old menu. The staff is very accommodating and friendly alway make you feel welcome. Been going here for a few years enjoy it and from the crowds I am not the only one.

Good beer selection... Not a fun place to hang out... Like the other location, good beer doesn't make up for bad service, sub par food, and a horrible bar set up... I would almost call this place a dive bar...

Went there last weekend with some friends. Watched the karaoke finals the placed was packed. I ordered a round of beers for my friends and the blond female bartender gave me the wrong drinks. I politely told her that was not what I ordered and her response was "Your friends are drunk they will not know the difference". Mind you this was after our third round in about 2 hours. I will never go back to the blue dog in lansdale, their food is mediocre pub food their service is slow and their bar tensors are rude.

This bar is always full of North Penn locals, which is fine. The staff is usually extremely friendly. The beer selection is fantastic. The food is pretty good. They have a few tvs for when the game is on. If you want to go pick up chicks, this is not the right place for you. If you want to take some shots and BS with your friends, do it.

Barely two stars because of the skunky beer. If a restaurant wants to claim to have good beer it goes beyond selection. Stick to bottled beer as they have no clue about maintaining their drafts. The food is adequate. Prices are high for what your get. We had two beers with lunch and our total came to $25@ after tax and tip. Service was good. Ambiance is fair.

As a place to eat, it is sort of a dump. However, it has a decent bar with a great beer selection. There is also a pool table. I prefer its partner restaurant in Chalfont, The Blue Dog Tavern, even though it is farther from where we live.

I haven't been here in about 4 years as whenever I pondered a visit I would think "mediocre/dive-y/shitty atmosphere" and then go somewhere else. Well Friday night I met a friend there who was already high from smokin' a doob and needed to munch down and chase with some beers. I'll have to admit that the Blue Dog has improved since years ago with a very good draft beer selection, and the basic junk food selections to satisfy your munchies. The wings and the burgers were winners. The chili was average. The potato chips, although I believe they were homemade or at least that type, were a little stale. The bartender was OK, but a lot of chatting with his local regulars had me occasionally calling across the bar for service. The atmosphere or should I say "lack of atmosphere" has not changed, those friggin' lights at the take-out beer section at one end of the bar are too bright carrying over to the rest of the place, makes it feel like you are in a store rather than a bar. Overall I will return when I am jonesing for some beers and wings.

Never again. Some friends and I decided to give this place a shot when we heard they have trivia on Tuesdays. The place is rather small, squeezed into a strip mall. Our waiter seemed agitated and annoyed that he had to wait on us at all, like it wasn't his real job and he was just filling in for someone else. At least he had his dreadlocks tucked under his enormous hat, but otherwise dreadful service (pun intended). I asked for no jalapeños and cheddar cheese on my wrap. What did I get? Jalapeños and no cheese. There was also virtually no chicken on my southwest wrap. My soda was flat, so I guess it's a good thing he didn't bother to ask if I wanted a refill. As many seem to love to point out, yes, they have a decent beer selection, if you happen to like Stone brewery, as most of their craft beers were from there. As for trivia, the main reason we went: Yikes. Horrible, no other way to describe it. The guy zipped through the first few rounds, which consisted of terribly uneven questions that ranged from ridiculously easy to unnecessarily obscure minutia. But since he had to go to 10, the last two rounds dragged on interminably with long gaps before and after the rounds. We are seasoned players who frequent different trivia nights, and this was by far the worst we've been to. One team won all the rounds (of course), either thanks to cell phones or hearing the questions someplace else. When I say these questions are obscure, I'm not exaggerating. Not enjoyable trivia, but random, esoteric crap. The host is creepy, mangled most of the questions (that he pulled from the internet, I presume) and bragged about being an extra once on a tv show, which in his mind makes him a celebrity. He should stick to being an extra and give up hosting trivia. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.

Non descript bar with good beer list. Food is the same as the Chalfont locaton. It lacks some of the little touches that the other location has, including a back room for private parties, and the juke box. They have a bottle shop in the front of the establishment similar to Chalfont. Staff work at both places so you will see the same friendly faces at both locations. Best deal are the happy hour specials on wings, steamers or hummus.

  • Mike H.

Not a bad spot for a sandwich and a casual sit down. They have decent TV screen to watch a game. Not much more to say about this watering hole.

Decent bar in the area. Been here a few times, a good place to grab a quick bite. They have the typical bar menu, with a few extra items. Crab cakes, linguine and clams, just to name a few. I would recommend the burger or wings. We picked up wings for Super Bowl XLVIII... at least we had something to keep us entertained. Their wings are tasty and there's a good number of sauces, from original to Parmesan ranch. The other plus is their beer selection. Looking for a good seasonal or speciality beer? The perfect pumpkin beer? This is the place to go. Once you walk in the door, there are cases full of cold beers. Ask the waitress, they are both friendly and helpful.

Kevin and the entire staff are A++++ worthy. I mention Kev because he is usually the bartender entertaining us. However, the staff is great. It is my favorite sports bar in the area. So if your in Lansdale, PA stop by Blue Dog Tavern for good food, great drinks, and great fun.

Great draft beer selection and really tasty food at a low cost: I was really surprised by the menu at Blue Dog. It's follows some of my favorite food theory - bar food is so much better when it's treated as cuisine. The specials list was impressive. I had a delicious oyster stew that came in a soft bread bowl that was toasted for a crispy outside. The broth was like a thin roux, not unlike something you'd get in a real Cajun spot in New Orleans. And the oysters were plump and fresh. Very good. I also got a salad the mixed greens, blackberries and strawberries with roasted butternut squash - really, really good. I was thrilled with my Victory Dark Lager draft. A nod to Victory here but also to Blue Dog for featuring it on tap. The only downfall was that it didn't seem like there was enough staff on to handle the tables and cleanup. Also, I wasn't nuts about the clientele. In particular, young parents allowing their little kids to run around in a bar. Weird. I wish I could give this place a 4.5. I will definitely be back.

A bright interior for a pub is what first struck me. The location on a strip mall seems odd. The beer selection both bottled and on tap is excellent. They have domestic and craft beers, and a few standard imports. The price for the beers is slightly lower than some of the high brow places in Center City. There are bottles available for take out. The food, I can comment on two things the Nacho's and Kobe Beef Sliders. The Nacho's were shared. It was sufficiently laden with goodies on top. Different hot peppers, olives, salsa, etc. What it was lacking though was sufficient chips to eat said toppings. It is well proportioned for a group of people. We had a table of 5 and were all able to get a good share. I ordered the slider's as I wanted something not too large having had a dinner earlier in the day. Four non-descript sliders came out on overly large buns. They were cooked well done, not a drop of juice left in those burgers. Toppings were blue cheese and bacon. These came ample enough on each burger. I did find that after a couple of the sliders that they just needed some kind of sauce to keep them from being overly dry. I got some ketchup and put it on the plate to dip. The service was fine for a busy night, trivia night which is well attended. Maybe a little more attention could be had a little more friendliness. But, we came for the beer and were amply rewarded.

Good variety of beer.. Waaaay over priced for a crap hole! I have been there twice and both times the bartenders were ignorant. When they weren't calling people who live in lansdale crackheads. They were flat out not providing any service at all.

  • Q K.

Nice place to enjoy different beers. Usually very strong micro brew selection- typically 10+ micro brews on tap. Occasional beer events and tastings. Bar staff decent beer knowledge. Food is average bar fare, usually good. Atmosphere nothing special.

I've stopped in a couple times for a drink. They recently had a groupon so I bought one. It's your typical local bar. They do have a beer "store" in the front and have an excellent selection. We sat at the bar and were greeted. Not overly friendly staff, but it was 12 on a Sunday, so maybe they were a bit tired. We ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and jalapeno burger. The wrap was served with chips. I don't know if they were homemade, but they were pretty good. My wrap had the right amount of zing to the buffalo sauce. My husband burger was good, but over cooked. He ordered medium, it was medium well to well. They do seems to have good beer/drink specials throughout the week. I believe miller lite was the special for Sunday. I would certainly return when I'm in he area.

I have been a regular here for many years, but after my experience tonight, i won't be coming back for a while. Ordered the jumbo sausage stuffed pork and i struggled to cut it with a steak knife. When i sent it back, i got the message from my waiter that the Chef did not want to cook me another one. The last time i ate here, i ordered the pork sandwich and it too was overcooked. So I ordered a burger and asked for it medium rare, when i got it, it was medium well not even a hint of pink. When i showed the waiter, he did not even offer to take the burger off my bill. Stick with the beer and the wings

I have been to the Blue Dog Pub several times. The beer selection is phenomenal and better than almost any bar I have been too. There are daily special items on the menu. The food is not 5 star but there is a great variety and I have never had a bad meal.

I live very near this place (in Lansdale) and have been there a few times. The only reason I'd ever go back is for some special beer (which doesn't interest me anyway). Somebody above said it well, bar food, dive bar, dive bar atmosphere. It's next to a State Store. Whenever I go by there are iffy-looking people out front smoking. It's seedy.

I've only gone to the blue dog pub for their beer. They have 5 or 6 coolers of single bottles from all over the world. Whenever I'm in the mood to try some different beers I never forget the blue dog.

  • Aura T.

I've only eaten here once. The food was "meh", the service was bad. The stars are strictly for their beer selection. I always buy them to go as I don't like the ambiance, now that Wegmans and their amazing beer selection are available in the area, I see no reason to go there.

Food = Bad Atmosphere = Horrible Clientele = Really? Are you serious? Beer Selection = not bad. All though most of the good beers are the ones on the Shelf that no one drinks and all are dusty.

  • Anna R.

Amazing beer selection (both to take out and to drink there) and really solid food. Yes, it's bar food. But, it's really good bar food! They have great nachos and make their own cheese sauce. Also, they will make any of their burgers with a veggie patty. My favorite is the mushroom/swiss burger with a veggie burger. They even use an insanely tasty brioche bun. Their dessert list looks incredible, too, but I'm always too full of veggie-ness to eat any. I don't really understand people's comments about it being a "dive" bar. The interior isn't grungy at all and the waitstaff is always super friendly. Yes, there are TVs and a large bar for people to sit at. But when I think dive bar, I think dirty. The Blue Dog definitely isn't scuzzy at all. It's all around one of my favorite places for a delicious and beery weeknight dinner out.

I had dinner here yesterday with a friend of mine. The drink and food was excellent. I had my usual beer and i chose the fish fry dish. My friend had the sweet potato fries. they were both delicious!! We sat at the bar and I enjoyed talking and watching tv. There isn't many tables but sitting at the bar isn't bad.

This is my go to bar in the Lansdale area. They have an awesome craft beer selection on draft that is constantly changing and lots of take out beer too. Their food is great for bar food, I usually get a burger, cheese steak, or wings. The true gem at this place is the cheese fries (with or without bacon!) They are absolutely AMAZING! So if you want some good beer and bar food this is the place to go!

Food is not good at all the people behind the bar very unfriendly and have attitude problems. They also like to charge you for more beer than your order. When I brought this to the girls attention she got an attitude put cash on the table and walked away. Sorry that I keep up with my tab ! Never going to that place again.

We've been to the Blue Dog a few times, to both locations (in Chalfont and Lansdale) but as Lansdale had a beer we really wanted to try, we hit them up for some dinner. The crowd was quite light, with several booths open so we made our way to one in the center of the restaurant and proceeded to take in the menus. The Blue Dog has a decent amount of pub food, but it's rather limited in variety. You won't find juicy burgers or the like on here -- the only burger I saw was on a pretzel roll. Also, no cheesesteaks (a Philly staple!!). The beer menu is pretty deceiving as well. You are handed this large menu with what looks to be about 40 craft beers on it and you think "SCORE" until you get to the point after the 11th beer and it says "Coming Soon..." *womp womp* and then there are arrows of ones coming soon pointing upwards. The food was ok. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The French onion soup is perhaps the best I've ever had in awhile, but the sandwiches (I had the chicken italiano and he had the filet Panini) were loaded and soggy. There was no way you could eat it as a sandwich. I had multiple versions of fries on my plate, too (steak, regular, small .. very odd and inconsistent). I do have to say that our server was top notch and very helpful and attentive. The dessert we had (homemade chocolate peanut butter pie) was probably the highlight of the evening. Very good but chunky (has nuts for those who aren't a fan). I believe the pub has a bunch of events throughout the week - we happened on Trivia night. I guess the locals enjoy it, I've been to better (Steppy's in E. Norriton on Wed.nights). The MC was a little too creepy for my taste and the questions weren't really trivia relatable - just stupid knowledge. As for the take-out area, they have a lot of decent beers, many locals that are bottled. If you drink those in-house, it's a $2.50 upcharge per bottle. You can also try Capone's in E. Norriton for some really great brews as well and I don't believe they have an upcharge for drinking in the restaurant.

It's a solid 3 stars. A-OK. There's nothing at all special about it. Except the fact that this is Landsdale, Pennsylvania- it's a bar, it has food, people, and it's not like there's a ton of places to go. Came here for a drink and lunch with my brother and mom to catch up. I had a soup and a vegetable sandwich with some cheap reisling. Both my brother and mom polished off their food so it must've been good, as we're not the type to stuff ourselves. I don't know the prices, my mom was nice enough to pick up the tab for her cubs. Service was sort of slow... but it was pretty empty and I think she was just relaxing. As a former waitress, I've had those afternoons so I'm not holding it against the establishment. It also looked like they had a full week of events each night. That's sort of cool. I'm just not around town but if I was, I'd probably check it out.

Great place to go!! I frequent blue dog with my wife and we always enjoy the food. Specials change often to bring new taste to the menu. Beer selection is fantastic no matter what type of brews your into. The takeout selection is great as well allowing you to take home your favorite beers after a fine meal.

Bar food, dive bar crowd, and dive bar feel.....which is all okay ( just expect it). They have an expansive and ever changing list of beers which you'll be psyched about, but that's not my thing. The wings are some of the best I've had- hot, but manageable. I strongly recommend either the turkey and bacon sandwich on a pretzel roll or the portobello mushroom sandwich on a pretzel roll. Both good lunch choices. I've only been here mid-week for lunch, so I cannot speak to it at night or weekends. Lastly, TVs placed all round so you have a good view wherever you sit.

Let me make this easy for you 1. You live reasonably around the zip code 19446 2. It's wednesday night and you are looking for a decent place that houses the awesomest collection of beer possible, plus good music, great food And food. 3. You don't really care about the ambience, the tables and the temperature If 1,2, and 3 apply to you make sure you stop by blue dog at least once. They have everything for everyone and in all honestly a great place to try the most rarest of beers in Montgomery county

  • Jeff O.

Bottom line first: Great selection of beers, food hit or miss. My wife and I ate here last night. At each table is a beer menu that not only lists the beers currently available, but also the ones that are on deck, ready to fill in when a current one runs out. The list is long, varied, and impressive. I tried three different beers and each one was pretty darn good. I go the blackened tuna for my starter and the ribs for my dinner. The blackened tuna was very nice. The tuna itself was not the highest quality, but I did not expect it to be. It actually was better than I expected a little pub to have. The ribs came recommended by our waitress. I am sure that many people love them, but they were very overcooked. The meat did not stay on the bone at all and the meat had no real form. The burgers at the table next to ours made me jealous. I know what to get next time. And I do think that there will be a next time. There are too many beers there calling my name.

I go here often with my boyfriend & our friends who live up the street from Blue Dog. We often go to get some good beer to go or whatever monthly beer event they offer. The selection of beers is great, however some are over-priced. The food at Blue Dog is ehh. It's inconsistent; some days it's good, & some days it's bad. The same goes for the service. If you're planning on getting a table during a beer event, FORGET about it! You'll be waiting all night if you can tolerate staying there. You either get in early or plan to find somewhere else to eat that night. They do offer a lot of specials, most of which don't personally interest me (not looking to grab 40s to watch a phils game you know?). It's pretty dead during the week if there is nothing going on, so if you're just looking to enjoy an evening sitting by the bar, having a nice beer and watching a game, tolerating regular pub food, this would be the ideal place.

I am new to the area and was trying to find a new place to eat. The service staff were very polite and the grilled chicken sandwich I had was very good. My friends that accompanied me were also happy with their wings. I'm not a drinker, but my brother who was visiting me, said the draft beer was great.

summary ... awesome draft beer selection, okay food and atmosphere (they have good takeout beer too) We frequent Blue Dog Pub for happy hour but only for their draft beer. They have a nice rotation of maybe 15-20 craft brewed draft ales and their bar-staff are knowledgeable about them (beats the shit out of "ummm, I don't know, it's hoppy or something?" which we get at Bones Grill nearby). The beers are reasonably priced too, which is great when you're getting a 9% alcohol beer. The food, on the other hand, has always been so-so bar food. A few times I've tried eating dinner here and regretted the decision. Now the only food we order is the occasional plate of fried calamari or nachos. Similarly, the atmosphere is pretty depressing. It's like halfway between a dive bar (darts and pool) and sports bar (crapload of TVs), but never seems to satisfy my craving for either type of bar. A nice bonus is that by the entrance, they have a takeout beer selection, which helps a lot thanks to PA's stupid as hell alcohol laws. They aren't the cheapest, but they have a lot of craft beers that one wouldn't ordinarily find at their corner gas station in other states. The reason we keep coming back is that this is the best option in the area. Other bars that have better atmosphere and food have terrible beer selection. When you're going to a pub, you better at least get the beer right. Blue Dog Pub does.

The beer selection and close proximity to my house kept drawing me back, but after almost digesting a metal wire that was in my soup I am writing this place off as far as food is concerned. The food is terrible and now even potentially dangerous. You can go to watch a game and knock a few back, but do yourself a favor and go on a full stomach!

I used to like going to the Blue Dog when I was younger with my parents for dinner, but I don't care for it now. The bar has an alright beer selection and not bad specials. The service hasn't been great. Not that it's been bad every time, but we have had some rude service from the bartenders and the waittresses. There are some good people who work there, though, so I guess the service could be described as hit or miss. The food I have had the last few times I have been there has been meh to bad. Their wings are ok, but they kind of taste like the frozen Weaver wings you get at the grocery store. Frozen wings are fine (I don't know many places that do anything but), its the sauce that is just not that good. They had a calamari salad on their specials one time, described as fried calamari. They used to have calamari as an appetizer, which I remembered being pretty good, so I asked if I could just have the calamari as an appetizer, without the salad. They said that was fine. Well, the calamari was pan fried, not deep fried. I guess maybe I should have asked, but given my request I would think the bartender (who I know has been there a long time) would have pointed out that I might be thinking of something different. Instead, I got a plate of unbreaded, anemic, overcooked little pieces of squid. I ate some of it, but it was chewy (actually, really hard to chew) and kind of gross. I think most people would have sent it back and I should have, but I wasn't in the mood to argue. I really thought it was pretty ridiculous, though, that she couldn't have pointed out that it wasn't going to be calamari as anyone would have expected it to be. They have a pool table, which is cool if it isn't being used, which it probably is if it is busy. For a bar, this place is ok. For food, go to Rays next door instead.

Bad experience -- Went for drinks. First 2 selections from draft menu unavailable (no Yuengling, really?). Tried to get another round. Both bartenders ignored us, took 15 mins of trying to get service. Disgusted, asked for bill. Received guest check with $16 on it. No break down. Gave her a $20 bill. She returned $3. Nothing good about this place. I will never return.

Very good draft and bottled beer selection; good menu with varied specials, dessert, and decent coffee; and friendly, efficient service. I'm a fan. The Blue Dog Cafe is a little out of the way for me, but it's worth the occasional trek to Lansdale due to its above average menu and excellent beer selection (that is reasonably priced). I've had everything from burgers to salads to entrees, and I've always been satisfied with the food... much better than the standard pub fare. The draft list generally has at least five high-quality craft brews, and the bottle selection (for take-out purposes) is awesome. I've bought singles by Nøgne Ø, Mikkeller, Haandbryggeriet, and Fantome... and I once found a bottle of Founder's KBS here; the selection is on par with Philly's Foodery, but the prices are about 40% cheaper. For the bottled beer alone, this place is worth the trip, but stick around for a meal and desssert; you won't be disappointed.

The food was bad. When the "mini perogies" came out I knew immediately it was toaster oven hot pocket material. The BLT was just ok, I was going for a safe choice and I got it. I wouldn't dare pay more for the food or try anything adventurous. Don't serve food unless you make it. Or just serve some deli sandwiches, really that would be fine with me. They have a lot of TVs, all easily viewable from the bar - the layout is good. The BEST thing about this place, aside from some decent brews, is that it's quiet. I really liked that. No music, no TV noise, just muted quiet with some beer drinking. It's dark and slightly but not terribly depressing, I think just the right amount of depressing really. A nice airy feel. Perfect for beer drinking. Beer selection on tap is good. Take out beer selection is *really* good, but 2 of the 3 bottles I bought were skunked, and the last was a bit off. If I bought any bottle for some of the listed prices and it was skunked I'd be pretty pissed. I bought several cans as well and they were good, so if I buy again I'd stick to these or the mainstream brands that probably don't sit too long. All in all the idea is good. Execution not so good, but you have to evaluate your options in this area.

This strip mall bar has a nice home town friendly atmosphere. The beer menu is pretty good and they have a large take out beer store. For the 15 minutes we waited for a table I spent looking over the selection of beers. This is one of the few places you in the area you can buy single bottles/cans of beer. A great way to sample and try out new beers. I had a beer sampler platter that came with five beers, two of which I'd had before and the other three I'd never had. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, though worth the price. We will definitely go back at some point and wish the Blue Dog was closer to take advantage the beer store.

Hands downt he worst waitors and bartenders you will find in a Lansdale bar. You can go to any number of dive bars in the area and experience friendly bartenders and better service, to say that they dont give a crap about customers is an understatement. There food is the definition of hit or miss, sometimes there wings are great, crispy, big, and flavorfull, and sometimes they just makeup whatever sauce they want, fry them down to nothing, and serve them to you without a second thought. I've actually been there and had the "chef" tell me he "invented" the wing sauce they served us, I immedietly asked why they wouldnt just serve us the sauce we asked for, again, dont give a crap about customers.

I wanted this place to be good and we don't have any good bars in the Souderton area. My wife I and I went there recently an we were disappointed. The atmosphere is dark and dank. It doesn't need to be bright but it was just dreary. There was no hostess so just seat yourself if you go. The waiter was fine but did nothing extra. The main reason we went was for the beer. They have a large carry out section in the front of the bar with maybe a 100 different types of beer. When I asked the waiter for a beer list that included the beers in the takeout section he said there was no list and if I wanted a beer from the front that I would have to pay take out prices on it. (marked up even more then usual), WTF!!! Needless to say I just got a regular bottle that they have behind the bar. but they didn't have a list for this either. So I had to get up and look behind the bar to find what I liked. We ordered an appetizer (loaded fries) which was disgusting. It included burnt to hell bacon covered in nasty cheese wizz. It's not described with Wizz on the menu so I was thinking I would get real cheese. The patty melt and chili were ok but why restaurants try and save a dollar and give you some premade burger is beyond me. I would rather pay more for fresh ground beef then some burger that was made three months ago and has been siting in the freezer. We will not be going back.

This is very similar to the Blue Dog in New Britain, but the interior is smaller and isn't quite as nice. This one is also noisier than the one in New Britain, but it always seems busy on Fridays after work. The food is OK, but I'd go for the beer selection.

beer selection is good, but the food is poor. the staff is friendly and doing their best with a mediocre menu.
