The Great American is what it is. The pancakes are really underrated here, they're always so dense and rich and delicious. This place is an inexpensive way to release steam after a night out, or a trip back home from the city. Three AM has service as attentive as the afternoon shift. And their coffee is seriously delicious. That said, they really do not go out of their way to be helpful and sometimes you're forgotten. The kids that run around Saturday and Sunday morning don't always write everything down and more than usually lately my order's been wrong. Sometimes I'm afraid to send it back, depending on who is at the till in the front. Still, you get what you pay for. Cheap, fast, filling. Usually right?

Good Food and Fast Service. Easy on / off from 95. Used to live not too far...miss this place. And by the way - they also have a bar! Plus!

Years ago I would have gave this place a easy 4-5 stars. As the years went on just the personal service and food as went down hill. If your looking to go to eat with family for a good price, a lot of food. Then I'd say come here. The food and service now is just okay. Its like they stopped caring. They did put some money into the area side/area which did make it looks decent. I gotta give the one on Street Road a try still.

I don't understand the bad reviews. I consider myself a food snob and I really enjoy it here. The GADP has always been clean, food good, service decent. I like their burgers and baked potato soup. I'm gonna have to try breakfast here soon and see how they do.

This place used to be good several years ago and then it was shut down by the board of health. Ever since then it hasn't been the same. There's a HUGE menu, so you won't have a problem finding a dish that appeals to you. The problem is when the food comes it's often tasteless and cold, like it's been sitting out too long. They have drink specials but the bar is small and cramped over in the side, not the ideal place to have a few drinks and socialize. The entire place just seems dirty, as though they haven't cleaned it in a few days. There is another location in Bensalem on Street Road which is much better on all fronts. Take the trip to that one instead, the food is better and the atmosphere is a huge improvement.

Now maybe I just am living in the fog of my high school nostalgia, but I love this place. I'd come here in the middle of the night as a 17-18 year old and sit with my friends and smoke cigarettes (before it was banned from indoors) and drink endless cups of coffee and play Radiohead on the digital jukebox. It was a place we knew we could run into other friends of ours from our school and the surrounding area high schools. I had my 18th birthday here and this is where i took my family to eat after i graduated high school among many many many other memories. But don't get me wrong, this isn't a place crawling with too many young thangs. Plenty of adults here, as well. I went here this morning for the first time in a couple years. I'm not a huge fan of the remodeling they did. It does look nice, it just looks a little too polished for what I have been used to. More restaurant than diner now. And there are WAY too many flat screen TVs. what happened to talking to the people who came to eat with? There's TONS of food on the menu. one of the biggest menus I've ever seen. The breakfast menu alone was the size of an entire regular menu anywhere else. I've always been a huge fan of their chocolate chip pancakes, and, while I don't eat meat anymore, their Hot Thangs (chicken with hot sauce...different from wings because it's like popcorn chicken) were friggin' HEAVENLY. This morning, I had the spinach and feta omelet. I wish I could have tasted more feta, but it was still delicious and came with hash browns and toast. More than a good portion of everything. The service has never been bad here. surprisingly. maybe for others. every place has their ups and downs. there's a bar but I've never drank here. It doesn't seem to have a bar vibe, but like i said, i've never been here to drink.

I cannot stress enough how awful this place was. I was there late-night around 2:30AM. The entire experience was terrible. The waitress was slow and disjointed. It took her forever to take our drink and food order. When we ordered our food, I asked if I could sub home fries for french fries on one of their late-night menu options and she said, "I don't know. I don't usually work at night." She paused. I finally said, "Do you think you could check for me??" After we ordered we watched table after table come in, sit down and order their food. We waited 40 minutes before our order came out. The table next to us who came in 20 minutes after us received their food on the same tray. We couldn't even get refills on our drinks because we never saw our waitress. I ordered a Monte-Cristo sandwich which they made with one of the bread loaf ends (stupid) and they really skimped on the home fries. My husband had over-medium eggs which were served over-hard (probably because they were sitting under the heat lamp for so long) and pancakes which were hard (again, probably because of the heat lamps). By that point we didn't even feel like sticking around for them to try and remake his food so we asked for the check and high-tailed it out of there. When we paid, the hostess didn't ask us how our meal was. If she did, I would've told her it was terrible. Stay away. There is a Denny's right down the road and I wish I would've went there instead.

Went here at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night. I guess they were busy. We were seated and once our server noticed us, she promptly exclaimed (to no one in particular), "I walk away for two minutes and more people just magically appear." I attempted to quell her ill thoughts by saying that we were in no rush, we understood she might be busy and that she could feel free to take her time with us. The food just wasn't good. Not over or undercooked. It just wasn't tasty. Our server didn't come by to ask how it was, nor did she come by and offer to refresh our drinks. I know I said she could take her time, but that didn't mean ignore us completely. I thought our considerate attitude would make her more eager to help us or at least a bit less irritable. I guess courtesy isn't always contagious.

Prices are fantastic. Service is decent. Food is good. I've had a few instances of myself or someone else finding something disturbing in their food (e.g. french fry in the drink, piece of rubber glove in the burger).

We have been coming here for years and years and have always been happy with their service and food. I have a VIP card, that is how often we eat there. However, the last few times the quality of their food has really changed and they are now just at a "your basic diner food" level. It seems the food is not that fresh anymore and often overcooked. I ordered the cajun ribeye $20 the other night and got a strip steak with no seasonings at all, and it was pretty tough. A strip steak is one of the cheapest cuts you can get. A rib eye is one of the best. A big and NOTICEABLE difference! My husband ordered the Broiled Seafood platter and got 3 small shrimp, 3 scallops (2 of the scallops were the size of a quarter, he wasn't even sure they were scallops and was thinking they might have been shark of some other type of white fish cut to look like a scallop) a small piece of flounder and a small piece of salmon. NOT worth $20 Is this a way to save the money they are losing offering their Tuesday night 50% off special ? It's a real shame when a good place chooses to cut their quality instead of finding other ways to save money. I'd be willing to pay another $1 for everything as long as the food was still good. I have given them a few chances in the last 2 months but they seem to be getting worse instead of better. I think we are done.

I have been here twice in the last week. I feel the wait service needs improvement. This time our bread was hard as a rock, where before it was hot and fresh. I asked for light sauce on my chicken parm, and got alot instead. I will say the portion sizes are big, more than enough for one person and the food is good though. I do recommend eating here but waiters/waitress need to be more attentive and listen.

Pretty good diner. Try the meatloaf, chips and dips, club sandwiches, roast turkey, or pancakes--all of these items are fantastic. This place also has above-average Italian entrees (as far as diners are concerned). Some dinners do lack finesse and flavor, such as the sirloin. The staff can also come across as rude and unconcerned. Generally, though, a quality diner!

Great food. Pick anything on their menu it is great. The only complaint i would have is their breakfast is just so-so... my family meets here for dinner around the holidays and we are never disappointed.

Went for breakfast and was what I expected - a typical NE diner with good breakfast and good portions. Service was great, food was good as well with good portions and well cooked. Will definitely go again when I am in the area.

The portobello sandwich had the smallest portobello mushroom in the world with roasted red peppers that where right out of the jar and frozen egg plant. With asparagus that was more like compost. If I could go into the kitchen and throw the good at the chef I would. Never again!

My boyfriend THREW UP after eating this place's disgusting sh*t they call food. He ordered a blitz thing or whatever breakfast crêpe thing filled with "soft cream cheese" which looked more like cottage cheese. I tried it, it was appalling. I had eggs toast and bacon, the bacon was undercooked and so were the "homefries" which were like raw potatoes. on top of that, the service was horrible. we waited 45 minutes for our breakfast. Needless to say we will not be back here.

Diners are the best spot late at night to get Great sandwiches, Great breakfast or even to share a huge plate of fries. Great American Diner you need to have the Great removed from your name if the meal we received is now the norm. My dining companion's omelette wrap set the tone for the meal when it arrived and smelled like bad fish.Yikes ! Why didn't we leave? I guess we wanted to think it would get better. The waitress agreed it smelled bad and replaced it with a mediocre turkey club. The club was supposed to have guacamole but was in fact mayo with a dab of green. I ordered gnocchi and didn't expect anything homemade but did think it wouldn't taste like soggy raw dough. They seemed to have a rough looking crowd at the small bar who knew not to order food. We debated on bringing the leftovers home to the dog but decided we love him too much to expose him to this crap......(The dog drinks from the toilet) The food was not eaten and we got our check and left. We will not be returning.

Before I write my review here is my disclaimer. When I dine at diners my expectations are low, really low. Why because diners are just diners they give you some slop and are open 24/7. I also expect my server to either be some little old lady who has been hardened by the profession of being a server for all her life (poor thing-honestly), or some high school aged kid or kid in their mid twenties who still trying to get his ish together....blah blah blah. Service and food are expected to be less than mediocre although the little old lady is usually great but when they are cranky beware but can you blame them...now onto the review This place sucks because it's a diner but wants to act more pretentious than a diner and I can't stand that ish. Keep it true to yourself. The prices are higher than most diners and that doesn't mean quality is better. I have had a better meal at old country buffet....hello! I had to laugh at my most recent dish, what was considered to be a fruit salsa garnish was a simple scoop of the good old fruit cup with large chunks of inedible fruit. They skimp on portions on some dishes and diners don't usually do that. Their menu is big as hell like most diners but nothing to great to choose from. The best menu was the bar menu I had to get a lil tipsy so my taste buds could get a bit numb because the food is not appetizing! Service seems to always suck from forgetting things or forgetting your there or just not caring your there.

These stars are for the entire operation here, not just their food (which, to be honest, isn't anything about 3 stars). There is no more welcoming place at 3am after working a 16 hour shift in the pouring rain than this place. It is ALWAYS open and the food is consistently good. Everything comes at a great price and the servers are all super nice. The decor isn't new, the food isn't fancy and the place isn't always spotless, but it's incredibly warm and welcoming to so, so many people know. We always come here to support local business and I'm so happy we have it around. If you've never tried a meal here, give it a shot after work. Get a cheap beer and their sandwiches or Mac and cheese bowls. Everything here is good and you will absolutely want to come back to.

After having eaten here, I now realize that their board of health record is rather alarming. Don't take my word for it though, look it up for yourself. I ate a few bites of the scrambled eggs and they did not taste like eggs, they had no flavor at all, this means that they use poor quality eggs. Their potatoes were inedible and their "rye" bread is 95% what. To top it off, the waitress had an attitude. This place is NOT great.

We are new to the area, and trying the different restaurants just to see what they have and how they are. When you drive up the the place it is definately nothing special on the outside, and same for the inside. So we walk in and are greeted by non-uniformed individuals, tattoos and piercings visable, who offer to get us a table. We were not right away offered something to drink. Eventually, we were given our drinks. The menu is HUGE, there are some many things on it, it is kinda hard to know where to start. The print on the menu is faded and difficult to read... so don't forget your reading glasses!! Eventually I just gave up on trying to find something to order and asked for a reccomedation. Our waitress recommended the chicken stir fry, my husband ordered the crab cakes. Our meal arrived in a timely manner and was piping hot. Portion sizes are ginormous. My plate was as large as my head! The stir fry was full of a heafty amount of fresh vegetables, rice and chicken. The rice was a bit oily for my taste but overall had great flavor. My husband had 5 or 6 large, I mean large, crab cakes. They were so sweet and creamy... very good!!! Overall the food was really good. The service could have been a little bit better, seeing as how there were only maybe 7 families in the establishment. Eventually when we run out of places to go, we will go back.

Went for: Breakfast Best: The Scrapple!! A nice thick piece with crisp edges. Worst: Country Fried Steak - YUCK! Greasy, Smelly, Mostly Breading. Def a pre-frozen "piece of meat" with pre-made gravy. Told them they should take it off the menu. Everything else was standard diner experience.

The food isn't terrible, the service is!!! My family and I usually go there for Sunday breakfast at 1-2 times a month, and I know they are usually very busy but they never seem to be adequately staffed. The food is decent, nothing special. Homefries are usually bland on their own, but the waffles and scrapple are quite good. It is cheap and decent diner fare, but with weak service and really nothing special overall.

Eh, its ok, not exactly the cleanest place or the best food although they clearly have no idea since they list their rather pathetic, kinda gross, meatloaf as 'better than mom's).

I have been here several times for just drinks after work and their prices for beers are pretty unbeatable. I think it was $3 for a 23 ounce Guiness. The bartenders are nice and fast and the atmosphere is pretty comfortable in the small bar area. If this review was just for the bar, I'd give it 5 stars. Eating here, however, is pretty hit or miss. My experiences have run the gamut from great service to horrendous service. The food is always pretty good for diner food, which I think is kind of funny considering the fact that another diner owned by the same people almost killed me twice. Their portions are huge and their prices are fair. What made me a lifelong fan of this place was that I witnessed a manager standing up to a pushy customer when the customer was obviously in the wrong and the server in question had done nothing other than be accommodating. I think that places that treat their employees like people tend to have employees who treat their customers well too.
