Tokyo Diner offers upscale sushi and hibachi, in a cozy atmosphere with great service. Tokyo diner is a bit off the beaten path, tucked neatly into the corner of a B-grade shopping center headed into the city. What it lacks in pizazz though, it makes up for in charm. The interior is clean, and the service is fantastic. The chef's really have a good time putting on their hibachi shows, and the support staff is nice and helpful as well. As far as the food, that too is delicious. The sushi is consistantly good, and the hibachi is obviously tasty and fresh. The interior is too small to be good for groups much larger than 6 or 7 people.

Great food & service, a hidden gem. Never very busy with being tucked away in the shopping complex. Lunch specials budget friendly for hibachi.

Now I will admit that it may not be the "best" Sushi in Lancaster, but it is the best when you consider price and quality. The Sushi is good as is the pan fried Soba and Tempura shrimp. I have gone for the Hibachi a few time and always find the food and service good. It is a great way to spend and evening with friends and family. Service is always quick and friendly. 90% of the time I order to go and am satisfied when I get it home.

It's been 8 years or so since we've been to Tokyo Diner...life before kids. Now that the kids are older and could appreciate the hibachi show, it was time to take them. On this Friday night, we were seated quickly, and offered the salad and onion soup...both were fine. The hibachi show started soon after, and it was enjoyed by all in our family. There wasn't as much showmanship as I recall...not as many ginsus chopping, flipping, slicing, slapping...the hands of our chef weren't as quick as they were in my memory. Still, entertaining...fiery onion volcanos, shrimp flung into our mouths, and some humor. Food was decent. Shrimp was good, steak was fine. However, I'm not sure that I'd want take out with out the show. Didn't try any sushi. Overall, three stars. Something different, yes, but not something worth making a habit of doing frequently.

I LOVE everything about this place! The menu is fantastic and the sushi is amazing for this area. My favorite new sushi spot in Lancaster!

EXCELLENT! One could not beat the all you could eat. I joined the club in York. However, I must say, I liked the people/service in York better but I wouldn't say that I wouldn't come back here. This place is bigger and looks newer than York. Both, York and here are your typical strip mall restaurants. This place was excellent, I'll be back.

I really enjoy eating here with my kids. My son tried sushi for the first time and the Hibachi Grill was really fun. The chef was adorable and made it enjoyable for us. This is a great family restaurant. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey but you get an abundance of food.

They do make good sushi and they are reasonable. The atmosphere is okay, and it is not impressive to see where they have stocks of paper towels and supplies loaded up into a doorway where the sushi chef preps. It is almost like they need a door or curtain there so people don't see it, kind of messy looking. They offer the two or three roll special. Their Philly rolls and spicy white tuna rolls are flavorful along with the tuna avocado. They do also serve all customers a fresh cucumber salad when they first sit. While I would say it is not the best I've ever had it is very good overall and they are more reasonable in price than others in the Lancaster area.

Food was good. Typical hibachi restaurant atmosphere. Our chef was not very interactive though.

Normally I would give Tokyo Diner at least 4 stars but I caught them on an off night and I have to rate this review on tonight's experience. The sashimi was a lot thinner cut than normal and the server was pretty apathetic. The rolls I got were tasty and all but it was just an average experience. We'll be here again soon I'm sure and I have no doubt that our next experience will be back to 4 star but tonight was just ok.

I really like this place. I've never had a bad experience at Tokyo Diner. I frequently dine there and/or get take out. There hasn't been a time when I walked away disappointed. I love Japanese Hibachi. This is a great alternative to Benihana's which is much farther away and more expensive. Food quality is good. The wait time (if there is any) to get a table isn't long, that's not to say that they aren't busy. Tokyo Diner always seems to have a steady stream of customers no matter when I've been in there. The restroom isn't always the cleanest. It's not Condemned-Truck-Stop bad, but it's not the best either. I'd recommend this place to anyone that likes Japanese Hibachi.

All you have to say is all-u-can-eat sushi. Although you do have to join a "club" for $10 a year, the all-u-can-eat is just $27. I can tell you that I usually leave eating much more than that in sushi. As for the other offerings, my fiancee always gets a combo hibachi dinner with beef, chicken and shrimp. It has always been very fresh and flavorful. We have never had to wait more than a few mins for a table, however this may be because the all-u-can-eat offer is only during the week excluding Friday-Sunday. As far as the ambiance, it is your usual strip-mall hibachi restaurant. Finally, although this does not usually bother me, English can be an issue. I left a credit card there and when I called to see if it was there no one could speak English enough to either understand me or even to tell me that the card was there (I later went back and they had the card).

The difference between Tokyo Diner in York and Lancaster is like night and day. At the York location the quality and presentation of the sushi is excellent (read separate review for full description of York's awesomeness)...here not so much. We got spicy tuna roll, 2 shrimp tempura rolls, and the house special roll. The shrimp tempura was not very crisp or crunchy, the house special roll was drowning in mayo, the spicy tuna roll had very little tuna in it and was not spicy. All of the rolls had major structural engineering problems (read: falling apart). Disappointing to say the least! Will not go back to this location.

It's decent, but Ichiban is much better.

YUMMIES, everything in the AYCE was delicous. ALTHOUGH, depends on the time you come when it seems very fresh, otherwise it's taste and look a day old. Friendly staffs!

I visited Tokyo Diner for the first time after my husband and his family raved about it. We were there for a family birthday party. What they failed to mention is that it was a hibachi grill. I felt like I was in the middle of one giant cliche. I didn't order hibachi myself, but sampled others, and wasn't very impressed with the food. I found it to be quite bland. I ordered taryaki chicken which was yummy. Service was decent. They had an extensive sushi selection, but I don't eat sushi, so can't comment on quality etc. Was the food decent? Yes. Would I go back? No.
