Sat on the deck. Service was slow. Apps and entree came at the same time. I got oysters which weren't shucked right and had shell throughout. My crab/corn/spinach salad had no seasoning and was literally spinach, crab, and 2tb corn kernels in some sort of oil. My friends Caesar salad had no seasoning in the dressing. No salt or pepper was on the tables. Thanks God we had a coupon or our bill for 2 drinks, 2 apps and 2 salads would have been over $65! Ourselves and the table next to us inquired about burgers or sandwiches. No sandwiches?! On a Sunday lunch on a patio? Apparently they can make burgers but it's not listed on the menu, which is stupid. I came here once a year ago and would have given it 5 stars back then. Please add some sandwiches to the menu, and some entree options that don't cost $20-$30. And season the food!!

Came here for dinner on Sunday. The restaurant is beautiful and the view is also very beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the scallops and they were just OK. I'm from new england, so the seafood doesn't compare. Also, the sauce that it was in was also too sweet. Overall, a good place.

I don't review much; however, this place is a hidden gem. Neat atmosphere, food was amazing! I had the special soup which was sea scallops with potato, celery and other veggies in a tomato base. The house salad had a tangy dressing. Really fresh. For a large plate I had the sear jumbo scallops with dried cherry reduction, seared butternut squash and sweet potato. Highly recommended! I will be back....

I'm hesitant to write bad reviews because I know it could just be a one time thing. The setting here is amazing. We are on the patio. I arrived and waited 5 minutes until a hostess sat me. The menu is not extensive and it's quite pricey. I would have loved to have a sandwich or something casual but there's nothing like that on their menu so I got crab dip. It was the worst crab dip I've ever had. I are 2 bites and couldn't eat anymore. When the server came back she asked me if I'd like it boxed to which I said no but she never asked if anything was wrong or if she could get me anything else. We will not be returning.

Either there's been a change of Chef or the B-team was on when I dined there with my work friends last week. The 'towers' of beef were more like a single piece of beef on mash potato, with the beef burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The duck was similar, no sauce, burnt and bitter on the outside and raw in the middle. The zucchini 'chips' were actually thick slides of deep fried zucchini...but the oil wasn't hot enough so the zucchini was soggy instead of crisp. However, it is a great location. My recommendation would be to go for drinks and enjoy the view but eat elsewhere until they lift their game.

Setting is great, food OK. Service was slow. Tons of smokers at the bar which ruined it for me but to each his own. Someone actually flicked a cigarette onto the front seat of my car (convertible) didn't find it until the next day and have a nice burn on the seat. If you are a non-smoker maybe go for a drink at a table by the water but otherwise there are a lot better places in lancaster

And it's dog-friendly!!! We ate a fantastic meal on the patio while our pup slurped up complimentary water and basked in the attention from the other diners...

On Sundays the patio is the only seating available and it's great. However the host was rude when we arrived and the table service was very slow. The food was good. Two small plates, two drinks and one beer was $70:with tip. So a little pricey.

Surprisingly great food! Crabcakes are with out a doubt the best in Lancaster and beyond! Friendly staff and a great bar.

Our first time here. The bar was very busy, the dining room moderately so. We we seated promptly at a table overlooking the deck and the river. Since it was raining, we couldn't sit outside. The restaurant itself is old, with dark wood and pressed tin ceilings. The dining room was warm and inviting, with candles at each table. Our waitress (Chelsea) took our drink orders within a few minutes after we were seated. Overall, the service was excellent. But enough about the ambiance and the service, let's get to the food! We started out with the beef spring rolls as an appetizer. Delicious! Our salads with house vinagrette were fresh. The bread was accompanied by house made honey butter. The entrees: I had the Seafood Pot. OMG it was wonderful! Best meal I have had for quite sometime. Scallops were done perfectly, shrimp and crab as well. There were fingerling potatoes in there too. The sauce with local corn was so tasty I didn't give up my plate until I had sopped it all up with the fresh bread. Boyfriend had the free range chicken with mashed Yukon potatoes and jalapeño & lime sauce. He felt the chicken was a tiny bit overdone, but still very good. We finished off the meal with coffee, and shared a slice of Oreo cheesecake. All in all, a memorable meal. We will be back!

Very poor service. We were seated for over 5 minutes without any service. Since the place wasnt even 1/2 full even glass of water would have kept up seated...but didn't get that either..very limited menu..we left and won't be back..

Went in for specials advertised online. "$2 lagers and sliders." Got lagers and asked for sliders. "We don't have sliders. " all menu dinners started at $18 and went way up. I have had food here before and not worth those prices. So we asked for our check. Lagers were $3. Please do not advertise prices to get us here and then switch. Maybe this is why this huge restaurant only had 14 customers before the four of us left?

Went here for a snack and some beers with the boyfriend.. You can't beat the scenery. We watched some people kayak over! We really enjoyed the crab dip. Beer selection was good and the prices were pretty darn good considering that we were in prime seating next to the river. Will be going back.

We've been to this spot several times and have always had a wonderful time. The outside dinning and bar areas are wonderful when the weather is nice. We've tried several of their entrees which are made with in-season local ingredients. Menu is constantly changing, giving you different dishes to try throughout the year. The staff has always be courteous and friendly. This will continue to be one of our favorite stops on the cabana tour. Hint. If you don't like fishy smells then don't eat at restaurants on the river.

2 years ago, this was the spot. Since then, they've gotten rid of all my favorite menu items and their beer selection has diminished. If you do go, SIT AT THE BAR. The service there is just terrible (except for 1 or 2 waitresses). The final straw for me was me and my fiancé went for wing night on a Monday and they ran out of wings. Understandable.... Sort of... Except that the waitress didn't tell us for 20 minutes after we got there and only after I proded her to give us bar menus. She was of little help. This place had its run, but unfortunately we won't be returning. Shame too, because I was somewhat of a regular for a little while.

Was pleasantly surprised! Best crab cakes I've had in long time. We had a great night on the deck, great food and service!!! I will definitely go back for the crab cakes!

We enjoy this place mainly in the spring/summer when you can enjoy their patio. The beef tower is delicious.

Was a lot better a few years ago. Last night was slow service, our strip loins were full of sinew. We had to ask for bread halfway through the meal. The server said "it's still frozen" rather that it's in the oven, strange thing to say. Salad had one small wedge of tomato and one slice of cucumber, the rest lettuce. Really miss the pork tenderloin dish from a few years ago. Even though it's a great spot in nice weather, I don't think we will be back.

I had the vegetarian entree and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back in the summer and sit on the outdoor patio. Our server Christine could not have been any friendlier. Can't wait to go back.

I really, really like this place a lot. I think the menu is interesting and not your everyday run of the mill options yet with some traditionally inspired American dishes. The shrimp from the raw bar are $3.50 per, but the three times I have ordered a couple I have felt it has been totally worth it! The wine list is limited but decent, there are a number of good beers on tap and bottle for your beer fans. I have had the vegetarian dish a number of times and I love it! It has a bit of a spicy kick to it, and I also request that the mushrooms not be friend and no tempura (I know I know, but I don't like anything fried unless I'm going whole-hog and then I get me some fried chicken! - not here though). The French onion soup has been great, the meat tower was good (said my friend) but a tad disappointing in serving size. (I cannot recall the size now but I think for me it would have been sufficient as I had an appetizer, too.) Another friend had the Quail and loved it. My husband has had one of the penne dishes and really enjoyed it. Also, each time we have been here someone has ordered one of the daily specials - which thus far always seem to be different - and was very happy with it. Everyone I have ever gone here with agreed that they would come again so in my boat that's a win. The only downside is that service can be spotty, we have always had very nice servers but some are not as polished as others so be patient. Lastly, we love sitting outside by the water. It's great!!

The Waterfront has so much potential. Located right on the river, it's super cute and picturesque. The outdoor deck is large and they even have an outdoor bar. Inside, the decor is attractive and inviting. My husband and I made the mistake of coming here for our anniversary with the in-laws. We had never been there before and we were only in town for the day. The first sign of trouble was when we waited 10 minutes for a waitress. Finally one showed up and then said "oh....uh...wait...hang on". Then another girl showed up and asked "has anyone helped you yet?" We said no and she took our drink orders. Then ANOTHER girl came by and asked "has anyone helped you yet?" uhhh yes. Our waitress has helped us. So the girl went to the next table and asked THAT table if they had been helped. It appears that they do not assign tables outside (we were sitting on the patio) but it's a first come, first serve for the waitstaff. This is not great for patrons as it's awkward. You'd think with all the waitresses looking for something to do, the service would be faster. Not the case. Our drinks came out. Then my mother in law asked for sweet and low. 10 minutes later the sweet and low comes. 10 minutes after that she comes back for our order. By this time, we're in for 30 minutes. The couple at the table behind us had been waiting for their drinks for so long that they had discussed leaving. It seems the waitresses are quick to claim the tables and then forget which ones they've claimed. The food came out and it was...ehhh. The french onion soup was nothing spectacular and the bread floating in it looked....well, not like bread. It looked nasty. I ate around the bread and spent the rest of the night making sick jokes about what my soup looked like (gastric by-pass leftovers mentioned.) My father in law's salad was yellow, brown and wilted. My husband enjoyed his salmon salad and my mother in law like her strawberry salad. The lettuce was both wilted on theirs too but they're less picky and just ate it. We left feeling disappointed. This restaurant could really be great! It just seemed disorganized. A new manager and a new chef could do this place wonders.

Went to this place on my birthday and a first day and we very happy. We made 9pm reservations and got a great table right by the water on the deck. The bugs were aggressive but who can help that The serves was solid and the $5 Orange Crushes were great. Had a great meal and a great environment. Recommend highly

I've been he on several different occasions and had lunch and dinner inside. The service all three times was very good. Not super quick, but friendly and helpful. The food, every time, was delicious Including the soup, chicken career salad, crab Wellington, crab dip, burger and chicken penne. Check them out and visit the deck!

Last time i was here it was the Cove and they've improved quite a bit. I had the tips based in prior reviews and was not disappointed. Service was just OK, but I think that was more the waitress and not the norm. Definitely will go back whem the weather improves to dine outside as well.

I'm not a fan. I was here about a month ago, right about the dinner hour (6ish) on a weekday. The parking lot was very full and difficult to maneuver around. We (there were three of us) were expecting the restaurant to be packed, but it was far from it. It was strangely empty inside. The indoor bar was full, but there was only one table occupied in the inside of the restaurant. Not super surprising, I guess, since it was a nice evening. We opted to sit outside on the patio. We were led outside by the hostess, and were surprised to find a similar situation outside. The bar was pretty well full, but there were no other tables of diners on the patio. Most of the staff was just standing around, talking amongst themselves. The menu left something to be desired. It wasn't super expensive, but it felt a little overpriced for the location (this is Lancaster County, after all) and overall ambiance (we were sitting on plastic patio furniture... need I say more?). There weren't a whole lot of enticing options. Two of us got the chicken penne. It was fine. Not a lot of chicken and the flavor was nothing to write home about. The other in our party got the steak special that was going on that evening. That's what we all should have gotten. It was delicious (and a large portion). Unfortunately, I wasn't wowed by The Waterfront. I live right down the street from it and wanted to enjoy it, but I didn't. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon, unless the menu changes. I feel like if they served more casual food at reasonable prices, I could become a regular. But until then, probably not.

While the service isn't terrible, I have to say that the food we had was horrible. Chicken with penne was simply bland chicken and penne swimming in a bath of broth. No consistency or flavor...just awful. Beet salad was okay, but just a bed of spinach and goat cheese...with what I suppose might have been roasted beets. The deck outside is great for summer drinking, but I don't recommend eating there. Unfortunately not a whole lot of alternatives in the area for a quick bite...

This is the former Cove restaurant. I'm not sure when the new owners took over. This has always been a beautiful setting, nestled next to the Conestoga River. That's the highlights. First off, parking is lousy. Very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. The grass overflow area is a mess. We had dinner on the outside deck recently and have a very disappointing experience. The server was very slow, disappeared for 10 minutes at a time, perhaps a smoke break? The appetizers were okay but my entry was terrible. It was not prepared properly and I was not able to eat it. I told the server who apologized and offered to remove it from my bill. The owner refused until I complained. He finally did so, but never once apologized for the mess. I don't believe he has any clue on running a restaurant. The outside tables were filthy, grime and mildew under the seats and table bottoms. The outside TV sports bar allowed smoking, with large clouds of smoke drifting across the deck. Very annoying. Needless to say we won't be returning. High prices, pretending to be fine dining, but not much more than a poorly run sports bar.

This place... This place... Where should I start... OK... The one star isn't because of the service; waitress & bartenders, but because of everything else. The food is so plain and boring that anyone, I mean ANYONE can just make it themselves at home, or make it better (I surely can top that chef anytime with my cooking). Why go to a restaurant where the food is so plain and boring and too unskillfully homemade. The inside of the restaurant feels and smells dirty. The patio is prob the best place to be, it's large and beautiful, and right on the river, which makes it relaxing. The cocktails are pretty good and the waitress is good. So to hangout outside for a drink and oysters, that's the only reason you'll see me here, maybe.

we sat out on the beautiful deck by the river. Just a perfect setting. Unfortunately, they allow smoking and there were two older dudes smoking like freakin chimneys at the next table. Service was fine but my daughter's steak was gristly and full of fat. but she's quiet and didn't want me to make a scene so i was told to clam up. Geez, i paying big bucks for that gnarly looking slab but i shut up. My wife's burger was good. My daughter's new boyfriend wasn't sure how to react to his burger cuz he knew i had my eye on him big time. But he didn't finish his beer - and that's a bad sign. For $4.50 he better guzzle that sucker. Plus my daughter ordered some fancy german beer and barely drank half of it. i downed that one as we were leaving. I had the salmon and it tasted real good but they didn't fully cook it. it was raw on the inside but i'm a savage and i like raw fish so i just wolfed it down. then my wife's dessert came and still had a piece of tinfoil in it. The coffee was lousy, some kind of tepid swill and she had to send the first mug back cuz it had a big lipstick smudge on it. But it is a beautiful setting, just ideal for a date with the wife. if i come back, i'm just ordering some beers and a burger. And trying to avoid the darn smokers.

had to write about this "experience". my guest was served raw pork. my meal was a bowl of overcooked baby diarrhea. the waitress was a clueless airheaded bimbo who obviously got her job by becoming "really good friends" with the owner. enjoy your next Complaint Based Health Inspection.

My wife and I ate here on a Wednesday night. We were greeted warmly by the hostess as we walked in the door. We chose to sit at the bar as we've found that we usually get better service (An empty beer glass makes Jim an unhappy man.) although I've never eaten in their dining room. The bartender was very friendly and after taking our drink order, offered us menus and the nightly specials. My wife had the Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Springroll. I failed to locate any jumbo lump crabmeat and at $11.95, we wouldn't order that again. I started with the tomato and mozzarella tower. It was fantastic! It came with pesto and a balsamic drizzle. I would definitely get that again. For the main course we both ordered a special for that night that consisted of penne pasta, sea scallops, mussels, crabmeat. poblano chilies, marzano tomatoes, and a seafood broth. We both thought it was fabulous! It was a large helping and I saved some for lunch today. We noted that several of the mussels did not open during the cooking process. I've been told they should not be eaten because there is a possibility of food illness. I was kind of surprised that they were served to us. We mentioned that to the bartender and he was very accommodating. A couple of minutes later he returned with a plate full of freshly cooked mussels. There were way more than we had set aside. I also noted when we got the bill that we were charged $4.25 a pint for Sam Adams Octoberfest. I thought I had seen that they were on special that day for $3 on their website. We were in a hurry so I didn't mention it. In summary, the food was very good except for the spring roll and the staff was friendly. We'll definitely go back.

We found this place thru restaurant.com . It was great. We were visiting from Philadelphia. We loved the view of the water. We loved the fireplace. We wished they had vegetarian options. The one they offered was not good. The cheese plate was great. Prices so reasonable. We were so happy with the find we told the hotel staff. Would visit again when we can sit on deck. We are glad we found it.
