I go to the Neptune every Saturday for breakfast. I am never disappointed. The food is excellent, fresh and hot. They have a huge menu. Delicious burgers, fresh cut fries. It has an old time feel. The staff are kind and helpful. My only complaint is the sauce on the eggs benedict is a little thin for me. I love the Tony's special.

Stopped in the Neptune for breakfast after spending the night camping in the outfield of the Barnstormers stadium. A table for our two families was made pronto, service was good, and the food was decent. Coffee refills came quickly, and the Greek omelet ($8.50) was a favorite by 4 in our party. Waitress was patient when a water spill drenched a table. The only gripe was the prices, which seemed a two dollars too high for every menu item. Was a solid meal, but for the price, I'd shoot for better food next time. Today, we paid the price for diner ambiance and convenience.

Stopped in for a late breakfast today and overall enjoyed the experience. I had steak tips and eggs which was cooked well and generous potions. My wife had eggs Benidict. The hollandaise left something to be desired for sure. The service was good and it has a nice classic diner car feel.

The heat was on during a cool evening (maybe 65 tops outside). The heater was broken and it had to have been 95 degrees inside. An old man, looking like a bum with 5 wal-mart bags came in and told all the staff that it was so hot inside. Squeeky wheel got the grease and the staff finally opened a door in the back. Half of us got the cheesesteak. It was just ok. Then it gets good! The old bum started arguing with this New Jersey couple sitting behind him. So much so that our waiter and the hostess (not sure if I should call her that as she stared at everyone and did nothing behind the counter) had to get involved. It became very awkward. VERY. Eventually things settled down when the Jersey coupled moved one booth away from the bum. They even paid for his meal as a nice gesture. I doubt I will come here again unless someone really want to go.

Sunday breakfast in Lancaster should be a special meal. Scrapple, a grilled sticky bun - with butter, an omelette and coffee. The Neptune Diner is now our go-to place for Sunday breakfast in Lancaster. The only disappointments are that their Dutch Fries Omelette does not have enough home fries and does have sliced mushrooms.

If you're hungover, still reeling from the effects of alcohol, the Neptune Diner isn't a bad spot to be. The late night experience here is awesomely random. It wasn't overly crowded when I was there, and a partygoer even tossed their cookies in the back of the restaurant (the vigilant staff mopped the floor up) and we got to watch a diner get carried to the restroom. Asking around for recommendations, an older gentleman in the front of the diner recommended a burger. In the back, a guy (part of a group of younger folks) said he was going to order Belgium waffles with ice cream. Looking at the menu, some items looked pricey (for a diner), but luckily the Hometown Special ($3.75) wasn't. The special came with two eggs (I had mine made sunny side up), hash browns, and toast (got white bread), I added greasy sausage links ($2) and a glass of orange juice (~$1) to wash it all down. For a small place, service was curiously absent at times. Our server (Jenny) was friendly, got me hot sauce, and checked up on us after our orders came (they came out quickly). We paid in the front (since it didn't seem like she was going to return right away), and a hostess was able to process our order. Neptune isn't the best diner EVER, but they're open late and they'll feed you on the cheap. Recommended.

I've been here twice. The first time was okay, went with friends and got a pretty standard decent breakfast. Service was decent for a Sunday brunch hour. The second time I went on a Friday or Saturday night and the customer service was poor. We could hear the servers mocking all the customers walking in. I got french toast and it was probably the worst I've ever had... the syrup couldn't even cover up the poor taste. My girlfriend wasn't very thrilled with her breakfast omelette either. We don't plan on coming back here again.

Very good food and our waitress was so nice. Thanks Katie for making our first visit such an enjoyable time. We shall return when in the area !!

For a late night spot this place is decent. My memory is foggy but I had an omelet and home fries which were pretty good. The service was a bit slow but at 3am that expected.

If you're looking for an authentic diner experience, this is the spot in downtown Lancaster. The food is always great, the service is always fast, and the staff is very friendly. It's my favorite spot for breakfast and I highly recommend it to anyone!

This is a great diner. Conveniently located near, but not right in, downtown Lancaster, I hit the Neptune Diner twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both times were very good. My friend eggs were made just right, the sausage was delicious and the waitress did not even blink when I asked for a ladle of chili poured over the plate. That's St. Louis style, a slinger. The waitress was nice and attentive. I could not really have asked for more. The lunch was a meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The serving was large and delicious. Unlike some diners, the potatoes were not lumpy. And there was plenty of gravy to go around. The Neptune exudes that feel of diners gone by, where you pop in after a night out and bond a bit more with your pals. I hope the people of Lancaster appreciate it as much as I did.

A good old-fashioned boxcar diner with great inexpensive breakfasts, waffles, and omelettes served in cast iron pans. Comfort food at a great price and a great alternative to the overpriced buffet breakfasts.

We stopped here on our stumble home from the Beard & Mustache National Championship at the stadium. For food as you sober up it wasn't bad. The server was a bit slow for the amount of people there (us and one other table). And it wasn't the cleanest or most interesting place. But, it was good for what we wanted!

Basically, there is no reason to go here if you can find another diner. Two of three of us in our party only barely liked our food, the third person did not like theirs. We all had different things. I would say this is below-average food. The service was fine but it is really a dive trying to be more! You have to keep in mind that many of the people rating restaurants on this type of review system are friends and family of the establishment. I am neither, but an honest reviewer.

Been a favorite diner of mine for years, breakfast is awesome from the "Love Boat" to the "Signature" French Toast with pears. Service is good with the long time employess taking care of you. Hilary, Tonya, Sue and the rest of the girls..They all make you feel that you are welcome. Dinner, I go with the..... "Meatloaf Stacker"......excellent comfort food" . You will not be disappointed when you head to the Neptune Diner.

I've eaten here on numerous occasions, always happy with my food. I ordered the special of the day, pizza omelette & homefries on the last occasion. Homefries were near perfection and the omelette was delicious, filled with peppers, salami, mozzerlla cheese covered with homemade tomato sauce. Service was good as was the coffee.

One of the only times in my life that i've walked out on a business. After reading the yelp reviews, we stopped in for breakfast while passing through Lancaster, headed back to Philly. We never mind a short wait while tables are being cleared, but when it was our turn for service, we were ushered past three lovely, empty booths up front to a crowded, stuffy room in the back. We were seated at a table sticking out into the doorway inside a small room packed full of screaming teenagers. We planned to ask politely for a seat up front, but we weren't given the chance because no one ever came back! After ten minutes of being ignored (we were dying for some coffee), we just left our menus on the table walked out. Shame on you, Neptune, that wasn't nice. We're friendly, polite, loyal and easily pleased grown-ups and EXCELLENT TIPPERS! Never again. We drove a few miles to the Park City Diner and had a great meal there, instead.

Pretty good breakfasts here. I have been there numerous times over the past couple of decades and food was always good. I especially like going here after black friday shopping. The last time I was here I had a crab meat omelette that was delicious.

Been wanting to go here for years, finally took the fam for breakfast. Good old fashioned diner, what you see is what you get. Like home cooked, except better. Waitrons and staff friendly and efficient, food fresh and hot on plates. Nice portions, good prices. Glad we finally made it.

Old time chrome diner style restaurant. Good spot for lunch near Liberty Place. The burgers are good. The service is cheerful and prompt. The prices are reasonable.

Neptune Diner is a great place for a single person like me to eat on a budget. The breakfasts are excellent and the dinners are very good too. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food for your money. The regulars are very friendly here as is the staff.

Great diner. I live in an area where everything is commercialized, so it's refreshing to find a spot where you can bring a group of people, get an awesome breakfast on the cheap, and not even change out of your PJ's. I've been here a couple of times, and the service has always been a little friendlier and more attentive than I expected, and the food is definitely good. Yes, it's pretty typical diner food, and YES, I love it.

This past Saturday (April 2015) was the second time within the last 3 weeks we had Breakfast here. The first time we ate there it was packed (it was a Sunday). Then I had the "Moon Walker". Cozy place but did not get everything that was supposed to be on the plate all at once. Got the sausages I had ordered after I was almost finished wit my meal. I love sausage gravy... It had a funny taste to it... Sweet hardly any sausage in it. Waited for coffee refill for a second cup. Finally gave up. The waitress was friendly but very busy. My boyfriend had the kielbasa scrambler. He liked it, but when he tried my sausage gravy he suggested for me not to eat it. Did not want to make a scene. Like I said it was packed. This time it was 3 of us and we all had Omelets. 2 meat lovers, 1 cheese steak omelette. I have never seen a Omelets that big and loaded with meat. Very good. If you want your home fries crispy you need to let them know. Service was great. Got 3 refills of coffee. Like I already mentioned it was a Saturday not as packed. My advice get more waitresses on Sunday's. With all this being said this was a good experience. We will definitely be coming back!!

My family of 4 and my sisters family of 4 decided to eat at the Neptune Diner. When we pulled up in front we were a bit apprehensive. Looked like it was closed, a bit run down but we gave it a shot and we are glad we did. Our children x4 sat at the counter on swivel stools feeling very grown up. The adults sat in a booth. Our waitress (sorry we didn't get her name) with the brown short trendy haircut and warm friendly smile was awesome. We started with an order of fries with a side of brown gravy like back in the day. It was a guilty pleasure and sooooo worth it. Delish!!! Everything was truly top notch. Eggs Benedict, corned beef hash, Mickey Mouse pancakes. We had a great experience and will definitely go back. Oh one more thing you can beat the price. Great big portions for low price. Kids breakfast was $2.95. That's unheard of!!!!! Would definitely recommend.

Here's the deal, I actually like Neptune. It's a cool little diner in a great location. But, the food is pretty average or below. And given that there are a number of diners with similar offerings, similar prices all of which is better prepared, it sort of hurts Neptune. One other thing, on my last visit, yesterday morning, after a delightful server took great care of my wife and I, I went to pay the bill. Another sever was talking on her cell at the register. Clearly a personal call (I got to hear all too much of it). She never stopped talking on the phone. To the extent when another server came to the register to talk to the first server, we got pushed to third place in the priority and needed to wait while the two got each other up to speed on the personal developments taking place on the phone. That's just stupid. Especially in a diner that was nearly empty and had at least two other servers who could have helped us at the register.

Anytime I'm in Lancaster, I have to stop here. Why? Because it's a diner, duh! It's right down the road from the Amtrak train station so it is all about location location location. It still has that railroad metal siding to give it the genuine diner feel as you walk in, and it's not very large and they have extra seating in the back. Generally, the meals are pretty generic, yet delicious. I can always choose to go somewhere else but this is the closest one that suits my needs when I'm in town. The prices are a little bit up there in comparison to some other places, but considering it is just outside of Downtown Lancaster and right by the train station, it makes for a prime business location. I never see it completely empty. It is one of my go to spots after a night at the Brickyard or heavy drinking at one of the dive bars around the way, but normally a go to when I roll into town to take care of family matters with the ex. The customer service is top-notch. Due to my phone dying on a regular basis, they were kind enough to let me charge their phone by their register so that I could be in contact for business matters. And they were very attentive to any of my cues that I may have needed anything from a new napkin to more caw-fee or if I was done with my food. They even have a little YELP sticker right on the door as you enter to let you know they are Yelper-approved, which made me giggle because well, I love my Yelp fam and I'm glad they approve. Check it out for the convenience, but if you're looking for something that is beyond regular diner grub, this is not the place for you.

Great selection of omlettes for a low price. Service can be hit or miss. Also not sure how I feel about the cleanliness of the establishment...

Just OK as diners go. Service mediocre and music too loud and diner almost empty. Asked (the very last time we were there) if they could lower the volume so we could talk and were told there was no adjustment. Really? After a so-so meatloaf dinner with thick gooey gravy, we paid our check and left. Waitress was tipped accordingly.

Good cheap food. My friend and I stopped by for a quick bite before a Lancaster Barnstormers game. She had The Birds Nest, I the Mexican Omelette. Nothing fancy, just your simple diner food - something that always pleases me. Wait staff could not have been friendlier. I was glad we decided to stop by since it wasn't part of our original agenda. The Neptune Diner was pleasant surprise.

Fast, friendly service. The breakfast specials were awesome. Try the cream chipped beef melt or the love boat--both amazing! Fairly small place but we got seats at lunch time pretty quickly. Definitely a cute little place to check out!

The Neptune was probably good at some point. My parents drag me here if we ever go out together. The service is fair to average. Our waitress brought half of our food with the plates (and food) resting on her chest. Another waitress with a short bob style hairdo carried her tray on her shoulder and her hair rested on top of people's food. Our waitress didn't bring us utensils, napkins, syrup, cream, and some other things we ordered unless we asked - sometimes twice. The ceiling tiles are dirty and drooping. The staff in the back of the house keeps their personal belongings with customer food just what I can see walking in. The seating in the back room is crowded and uncomfortable. The food is reasonably priced but slathered in fake liquid butter and the last few times my scrambled eggs were quite runny. It's just okay.

Sitting at the gateway to downtown is this little diner. As seen on Food Network this is a long time regular haunt of Lancaster. For me and mine it is low on the list of stops. I like the look of classic diners, but the food here just does nothing for me. Can't say it was bad in that there was anything wrong, but flavors were very flat. Bland eggs, scrapple was missing that nice outer crunch, pancakes undercooked and bacon with no flavor. Some say this is a good spot for dinner and may have to give it another go. However, with so many other options in Lancaster it will take a specific reason to go back.

Get the eggs a la Neptune. It's seriously so good. This is a great little gem in the city. I love that it's quick, filling and inexpensive. They were even on a show on the travel channel for their Lancaster County style cooking

Great food at great prices. Annie, Diana, Hilary, Tonia: all great ladies that make the Neptune feel like home. All of the meatloaf meals are off the end of the chart. Love it!

Saw this place on food paradise, and it did not disappoint..I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes..also a cup of pot pie soup..the soup and meatloaf were both amazing..the mashed potatoes were from a box but it was covered in gravy so no big deal lol

The go-to place for breakfast, anytime. Try the Tony's Special, an omelette still in the frying pan.

This place is very cool. I found nothing wrong w this place. The service was great from the door in. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The food was good although I just had breakfast but the jukebox started playing some Loretta Lynn and that just sealed the deal for me, perfect. All in all a good experience.

This was less than stellar. Seeing it from the outside, it kind of looks like a greasy spoon, and the inside isnt much better... ---------- FOOD: Almost everything had some sort of meat on it, in it or around it. I got a grilled cheese and some fries, neither of which were very memorable.. SERVICE: Friendly but sluggish. The hostess seats you, but she also rings you up, so if someone is cashing out you get to stand there.. and we did. Then we sat down and got breakfast menus at lunch. So we finally order and it takes an incredibly long time to get food. It says that in the menu, but its still not a fun wait.. DECOR: Its a diner style restaurant. Its really REALLY small and cramped feeling. The guy next to me had a shelf at his head. If he moved wrong he would have given himself a pretty good gash. ---------- FINAL THOUGHTS: Would I go again? No. Its just too small and the wait for food is just too long. Im pretty impatient when it comes to food. It also has that dirty feeling..

I've never had such unique french toast. The special french toast has candied pears on top, and I didn't even need syrup. They were delicious. For three pieces with the pears it's $7.37 so closer to ten if you want to add some meat, but definitely worth a try.

A great little diner close to the heart of Lancaster, where the food is great, the atmosphere old-school and the service friendly. Upsides: + Loved our chilli cheeseburger with fries and a salad + Nice menu selection overall + Delicious pies and wide desert selection + Great, attentive service when we were there + Intrinsically American experience, in a building put together in 1950, with a bit of shabby chic charm Downsides: - Booths felt a bit cramped (and I'm not THAT overweight...) Overall: A great little spot, conveniently located and for someone from out of town like me, an ideal location to get a neighborhood feel for Lancaster, PA. I walked away humming Tom Waits' "Nighthawks at the Diner." Recommended!
