The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. House of Pasta is a nearby bar/restaurant that my wife and I frequent, especially in the evenings of summertime (they have a "beach club" style outdoor deck area with sand and tables). First off, if you're looking for atmosphere, this is not necessarily the place for you. The decor is not really that special, and the bar is pretty smoky and dingy (and it is the first place you experience upon entering). There is a separate indoor seating area just past the bar, but again, not really that fantastic. The atmosphere is really just not that inviting or cozy. As I mentioned before, there is an outside deck with high wooden fenced-in walls, and this is really the main redeeming quality as far as atmosphere goes, but really it's just nice to be able to eat outside, and this is one of the reasons why we like to hang out there in the summer. The atmosphere is the only thing that makes the rating 3 stars though, because if it were solely based on food - 5 stars! And I'm not talking about gourmet or delicacies for the "refined" palate, I am talking honest-to-goodness delicious bar food. This is why we keep coming back. They make the most delicious soups this side of Lancaster, all homemade on the premises, and there are at least 7 different soups featured daily, which are but a few of the total soups offered in the rotating schedule. Here are just a few really tasty soup offerings: French Onion, Beef Noodle, Crab Bisque, Creamy Potato (yeah, these all sound like standard offerings for soup, but they just have the best touch for making each soup their own... they are just really good) . They also offer just about anything else you might expect to find on a bar menu, and I do mean anything. Cheesesteaks, Burgers, Sandwiches (huge ones! Get the Jewish Hero and have it toasted; it rules), Wraps, Wings (their spicy BBQ are my favorite), fries (the most deliciously crispy fries I've had in a while), onion rings... even popcorn and soft pretzels (popcorn?). And of course, Pasta (and out of my whole list, that is really only the tip of the iceberg, or menu). The funny thing is, being called House of Pasta, I have actually never had any of their italian dishes (unless you count their stromboli wrap, but that's the closest I've tried). And what bar/restaurant wouldn't be complete without beer? Their on-tap offerings maybe consist of about 8 or so different beers, which isn't a huge variety, but it's not the variety that's so great, it's the glasses you get them in. And by glasses, I really mean tankards, because House Of Pasta is the home of the Big Ass Beer (their wording!), which is a giant-scale glass mug full of beer. Yeah, I know, there are other places that offer large-sized draft beers, but this really completes the experience for me. There's just something to sitting outside in the summertime with a huge ice-cold beer and a basket of delicious wings, or a big sandwich and crock of soup, or a plate of fries. It's just the bar experience that I go for.

You would think for a place called "House of Pasta", that pasta would be their specialty. WRONG! The pasta dishes are on the last page of the menu. Hang on, let me do my usual review format... ---------- DECOR: I walk in expecting a restaurant, I get dive bar with a few tables in the back room. Its dark, its smoky, its Moes Tavern. By the way, there is no clear entrance to the building. The door out front is locked, the entrance is around back. So I sit at the bar with a few lunchtime drunks and order a spaghetti and salad... FOOD: The salad (graciously served with thumb in bowl), is all the worst parts of a lettuce head. Heart, stems, etc.. Not many leaves. The spaghetti was supposed to have marinara sauce, and you would think from a place called "House of Pasta" it would be unique. IT WAS PREGO! Seriously, store bought sauce. The bread was supposed to be french, it was that generic store bought "italian" chewy subway roll type bread. SERVICE: It was fair all things considered. But being a bar, they were more interested in keeping the drunks drunk. ---------- FINAL THOUGHT: 1 star, no M's for a smoky, dank dark hole that doesnt do well on the name it has.

Overall the food was ok noting amazing, I didn't eat in the place I took it to go because it reeked of stale cigarette smoke from the bar in the other room. I was gagging the whole time I placed my order.

Just went to House Of Pasta for some eggplant parmesan which they do well, but there was a fist-fight going on in the parking lot so we just kept driving. At seven pm on a Sunday.

Candy, I was in Thursday April 2nd. Cheesy breadsticks were not baked properly. Dough was warm, chewy, not baked. Breadsticks not the slight bit browned but a white unbaked appearance. Our server was very kind and apologetic and an asset to your staff.

I've been going to the HOP for years I have to say mostly in the summer when you can sit on the "beach" and enjoy the fresh air and laugh a lot. The waitress and bartenders have been there for years and are all really nice and personable and fun. In the winter the bar typically is overcrowded and really smoky however I hope no-smoking will eventually happen down the road. I can't complain the prices are reasonable and it's a great place to go after work for a drink and dinner with co-workers or friends on a budget.
