I'd love to have some passionate and witty, thousand word review on the Columbia Diner. It's ok. It's decent. I didn't get food poisoning. The service was very nice, prompt, genuinely friendly. The woman working the cash register was a bit bizarre. Not all the friendly but entertainingly enough like a Bond villain girl to make it worth the trip. Here's the thing, in a city chock full of diners, Columbia just stand out in any single way. It's about the same as all the others at best and not much worse at worst. So if you're in the hood and you need basic diner food, served in a friendly manner, in a diner, Columbia will work. It's not much a recommendation but it's not intended to be.

Good choice for a typical diner breakfast and lunch...pancakes are really good, as are the burgers and chicken tenders. I really like their fries too.

They misrepresent their product: When asked if the waffle came with Maple syrup, the server said, "Yes, Maple syrup". When, she delivered my waffle, it had two packages of "Kraft Syrup, made with corn syrup", which I showed her. She said, "The owner says it's maple syrup." The scrambled eggs and sausage that I ordered instead were served quickly, and hot. But they were bland, below average diner fare.

I went to college in Lancaster and this place opened when I was there. I still manage to stop in when I get to visit. Coming from the diner capital of the world (NJ), I feel like I know a pretty good diner when I see one. This place is good. Even though the place gets packed, they do a good job seating you rather quickly. They have great breakfast food - I really like the omelettes and pancakes. I especially like their western omelette. I have had some lunch items here, but breakfast is the way to go here. They do 1 thing here that puzzles me. Instead of having ketchup bottles at your table, they have ketchup packets. This has been the way it is every time I have gone. It is pretty annoying to continually open up packets, but I guess you have to do what you have to do. Don't let the opening of packets deter you from going here.

I've eaten here quite a few times over the years... I always manage to make it here at least once when I visit Lancaster. The service has always been fairly quick and friendly, while the food is typical diner fare. Last year we had our New Year's Day dinner here, since my mom was quite insistent on having her traditional pork and sauerkraut. I was probably the only person in the diner who didn't order that! The one thing that makes them stand out in my mind is their hot chocolate. I don't know what they put into it, but it is hands-down the best hot chocolate I've ever had, and on my last visit I stopped in at least once a day just for a nice hot cup of it - it's addictive. This is a nice, reliable restaurant when you want a good, quick meal. We've never left disappointed.

I've been going here for some time. Weekends still fill the parking log but not all the time or consistently. There's a message in a lack of cars at busy times. Columbia Diner's best items are the French Toast, Scrapple, and blueberry pancakes. I think the waffle is reheated and the strawberry glaze is canned. Too much out front makes me question whether the kitchen is even clean anymore. I'm probably going to avoid the place because there are so many better places around, including the very good Park City Diner.

These guys get 5 stars for the sausages alone. It's a classic diner and anyone that expects more will be disappointed, however they do diner pretty well and don't forget to try the sausage

I've eaten here twice. The first time was fine, but the second time (just last week) has turned me off completely. Spoiled coffee creamer cups, dirty silverware, and a cockroach who looked right at home, stolling casually by our table as we ate our homefries, was enough for me to tell family and friends to AVOID this place.
