Let me start off by saying, I live right down the road so I go there often. The food is always good. For breakfast, french toast is a must! For lunch, the chicken ranch wrap is the best. Their cakes and baked goods are the BOMB! My family always gets birthday cakes from here. The chilli and cheesy bacon potato soups are awesome( I only mentioned these two because i loved these two so much that I don't even want to try any others). When we dine here, the waitresses remember what we drink and how we like our food. I think that says how good the service is here. Favorite place to eat by a longshot.

The staff there is wonderful and very helpful and informative. However, the food leaves something to be desired. I stopped by and bought a milk shake and 2 frozen chicken pies. The milkshake's ingredients were fine, but there was quite a lot of ice crystals in it. It was almost as if the ice cream thawed and was then re-frozen instead of being discarded. The chicken pies had LOTS of vegetables (esp.potatoes), but almost NO CHICKEN. There were some shredded bits of chicken and one solid piece, aprox 1/4" x 1/4" x 3/4". This in a pie that should have served two people. Yes, it was quite tasty and only $5, but it would be better listed as a vegetable pie with chicken flavoring.

Ok I have to be honest..I don't know why this place has such high ratings and I probably won't ever. Apparently yelp does this thing where they show you " recommended reviews" and hide others. Go look at the others, they're mostly negative. This place is cute on the outside but it is filthy! The carpets are littered with dining refuse and dirt, and tables and chairs don't look like they've been wiped down...I got a good milkshake but this place needs a serious overhaul/better front of house management.

A hidden gem in the most beautiful part of Lancaster County. Breakfast's are packed with locals and if you're really lucky you will get there for lunch on a Thursday and the special will be chicken and waffles or chicken pie (it rotates weekly). The rest of the menu is great and the staff is friendly and hard working. But the best part is the pies and other baked goods so save room. Red velvet cake and Montgomery pie are amazing. A big secret is that their wedding cakes are really nice and much less expensive than other local bakeries. After you've eaten take a drive west to the river and enjoy the scenery.

I have a hard time writing reviews of places in Lancaster, since I grew up there and attach sentimental value to all of them. That being said, the Mart has the best burgers in Lancaster County - I've had all of them - and they give roadside whoopie pies a run for their money. Their selection of Turkey Hill tea is unmatched, and there's nowhere else I'd rather go anywhere for breakfast. I'm only in town once or twice a year now, and the Mart is still always at the top of my list of places I have to check in on.

This delightfully down-to-earth and truly special place is called by a less formal name by locals (or those who grew up eating there every Summer) as "The Manor Mart". Just 168 miles from Manhattan, if you ever find yourself in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and are exhausted of chirpy tour guides or vow never to look at another quilt so long as you live, decide you retroactively and proactively HATE that movie Witness and want to sample real, unpretentious and sincere vittles, this is where you want to be. For years, while attending a nearby Family Reunion, my cousins, siblings and friends would dash past the cornfields and across the road, the hum of the airconditioner unit promising cool respite from the August humidity. Watch yourself now - the parking lot is small and unevenly paved; you'll find the porch paint peeling and the porch itself may lean to the side a little... but sometimes the most satisfying gustatory experiences are packaged in the most unassuming wrappers. The Manor Mart is a combination Bakery, Grill, Convenience Store and Sit-Down Diner. Forget counting carbs and calories and just GO FOR IT! This is, afterall, the land of scrapple and sticky buns. The griddle is hot and your choice of breakfast will be generous enough to keep you going 'til the end of the barn raising you may have foolishly signed up for as part of your "Dutch Pennsylvania Experience Premium Tour Package". For a treat, order the Fried Sticky Buns - which are essentially grilled sweet rolls - hot, dripping caramelized sugar glaze and absolutely divine. Hot and cold sammiches are made to order, though I can't resist the Creamed Chipped Beef over Toast. Finish the whole thing right before you leave for the airport, and you won't need a sedative to snooze peacefully all the way home. Food coma! Whoopie Pies are another regional sweet: cream sandwiched between soft rounds of cake that look like giant cookies. Chug some Turkey Hill Iced Tea (regular or lemon) and get some for the road. It is a bit of an acquired taste: more like Southern Sweet Tea - but nothing quenches your thirst better in the Summer, this I promise. As long as we're talking Turkey...Hill, check the display case for the ever-rotating flavors of this local dairy's ice cream, and for those of you unfamiliar with the local terminology, order "A double DIP" - don't say scoop, or you'll give yourself away. That, and your Nikon D80, oversized sunnies, and LV luggage! Pie is a must, and can be eaten at ANY time of the day; with any meal, or just because. My favorites are: * Montgomery - deep with dark molasses * Pee-can - crispy+crusty and redolent with eye-rolling nuttinesss * Sour Cherry that is fantastically acerbic and tastes of wine * Black Bottom Pie so dense and chocolaty * Shoo-Fly Pie: another revelation - smooth, dense molasses topped with the most incredible crumble on top * Rhubarb - fantastic in the summer, a la mode * Huckleberry - ibid * Walnut - dense and the flavor profile comes through beautifully * Peach - grown locally and nothing short of delightful and summery The food is unpretentious, prepared with pride and in the traditional manner. It's a little out of the way from the more urban cities in Pennsylvania, but the authenticity of the experience speaks for itself. 717 - in the hizzouse!
