This place is NOT what it used to be. Husband and I used to go here years ago more frequently... We decided to go back and we were sorry we did. The chicken taco salad wasn't a nice grilled breast but a thin piece of "chicken". It was not served in the fried tortilla shell like it was before, it came out on a plate all chopped up. Very disappointed and won't go back.

I remember going to Carlos & Charlies when I was kid and it was located on Plum st & Ice Ave. I remember the food being awesome but sadly at a recent visit food was HORRIBLE. I order Chicken Taco and Chicken Enchiladas but there was nothing Enchilada about it. They told me three year ago they stop using Enchilada sauce on the Enchiladas making it just a chicken wrap not Mexican food. Also the Chicken was like rubber and the Refried beans made Taco Bells Beans look like a Five Star restaurant. They have great drink special which was the reason I went but my Mango Margarita taste same as my Peach Margarita. Only positive is how wonderful the staff is. I think this place needs John Taffer's Bar Rescue. Carlos and Charlies Break open your books open your doors and make a call to John Taffer.

Do yourself a favor and keep driving. I always enjoyed stopping here years ago for a drink and and their weekly specials. Boy, oh boy were we disappointed. I will never go back! I would not even serve that food to my dog. Seriously, what happened? What a disappointment to order food and send it all back. Again, we will never be back!!!

Food here is pretty bad, wait staff is rude and to top it all off, they charge for chip and salsa refills. If you want Mexican food, or food in general, I'd eat somewhere else. Actually, their margaritas are bad as well...

What a FABULOUS meal! My gf and I were vacationing in Lancaster and asked a local for a recommendation on a good Mexican joint. He mentioned Charlie and Carlos' but said not to go there because it was a dive, so he recommended another (not to be named place down the street from Charlie and Carlos'). I went back to the hotel to read up on the recommendation and decided I didn't want to eat there. So, I turned to Charlie and Carlos. I read mixed reviews and was hesitant to try out a place that some said lingered of smoke. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Sunday and only saw a few cars in the parking lot. We were a bit worried but decided to go in, because they were advertising $2 draft Yuengling and a dozen wings for $5- How can you beat that?! We were immediately greeted and seated and our fabulous waitress soon introduced ourselves and took our drink orders.Tortilla chips and house made salsa soon joined us. The salsa definitely had a kick to it- you could even see the jalapenos! They have a pretty diverse menu, I'd say half American and half Tex Mex. After ordering, we took in our surrounding. Half bar and half restaurant with a mix of tables and booths. We were able to watch a baseball game being shown on a huge tv. The food, oh the food! My gf ordered the medium wings with the house dressing and celery sticks. The dressing was like a spicy ranch and was quite tasty. Her wings were HUGE! They were really really moist and not swimming in sauce. I ordered the (fried) shrimp tacos and receive a huge plate of food made up of two over filled soft tortillas. Panko breaded shrimp, guacomole, lettuce, fresh cheese, pico de gallo and a chipotle sour cream all crammed in a garlic and herb soft tortilla. Oh, mine came with a side and I got the side salad which was large and very fresh. The food was AMAZING! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I enjoyed my Yuengling while my gf enjoyed her Corona light, all the while our water glasses being refilled and we were even given a small pitcher of ice water so we didn't have to wait for refills. Our waitress, Steph, was awesome as well! She checked on us just enough and answered all of the questions we had without sounding annoyed. I had asked about their enchilada sauces and she was cool about explaining the differences. We will DEFINITELY come here again! It's close to everything and very affordable. They offer a lunch buffet that we'd like to try. I HIGHLY recommend giving this place a shot-you won't be disappointed!

My first experience resulted in my bf and my orders getting mixed up pretty bad. However, the owner was very quick to try to fix them and took it off our bill. We decided to give it another shot and the order was done correctly, but the food was just ok. But, the atmosphere of the bar and staff are extremely friendly and fun. Price wise, it's a little high for something I can do much better at home. They do have great drink specials, every day of the week.

I just needed a place to see the eagles game, i sit at a booth thats far from the tv, the sound is not loud enough to hear over the table of 20 all wearing same color shirt talking so loud not even about the game. There was a penny in my free chips. The server took for ever to greet us and said "yes" and "no" and "ok" by nodding, they never came back for refills i had to ask someone else. They took 88 cents off my bill, i left before halftime took my girlfriend home and saw rest of the game at micks.

Woof! Friends told us they liked this place so we gave it a shot. Atmosphere was ok, service was pretty good, but the food was just bad. The "grilled chicken" tastes and looks like the pre-cooked stuff we get in a bag from Costco. Take that, warm it in the microwave and wrap it in a tortilla and you have what they call an enchilada here. Oh yeah, I forgot the canned fake cheese sauce dumped over the top. Beef dishes were marginally better. Margaritas? Meh. The salsa was good and has spice to it. That was quite frankly the best thing here but the chips are cheap thick crummy tortilla chips. Our party was uninanimous: we won't be back.

When they do the wings right, they are best in the county. When they are bad they get big, fatty, and soggy. Try Charlie or Maryland flavors. Also order a side of house ranch. Salsa is awesome, but way way too spicy this last time. Beer selection is lacking. Also, don't count on any of their special to be the same the next time you go, at least that is what I have found. But overall, remains one of my favorite "go-to" places.

Great wings! Good food and friendly staff. We always enjoy hanging out here when we visit Lancaster. Happy Hour is always a good time. It is from 4-6pm and their specials change daily. Their margarita's are on point! :)

How is this place still in business? The wait staff is very nice and pleasant but the dive college bar atmosphere, horribly slow kitchen and disgusting food make this a place I would avoid like the plague. They need new management, a kitchen over haul and a fresh new menu. Worst food ever.

This is a nice dive bar! I came here with my cousins for taco night and it was great. You can't beat $2.75 for 3 soft tacos. I also tried their jack and blue sticks and those are amazing! Definitely stop in if you're in the mood for some Tex Mex and you're in the area.

We've been going to C&C's for at least 20 years and after our last visit it will be a long time before we come back. The service here is truly bad from one particular waitress. There are other good waitresses but we seem to end up with her every time! After taking your order you will never see her again, even though she will stop to chit chat numerous times at adjacent tables. Thankfully the other waitresses have been willing to refill our drinks. The last two times I had to have the hostess find her to get the check. The food here is really good, but the aggravation is no longer worth it for us.

The wings were fantastic! On Wednesdays its only $5.50 for a dozen. The aesthetic and charm are decent. If you are going in expecting a good dive bar you won't be disappointed.

A solid 3-star establishment. C & C boasts a tasty lunch buffet during the weekdays and solid food & drink specials all week long. While I have never been blown away by any of the food I've had here none of it has ever been bad by any means. Great big bar area with plenty of room for lots of people is a big plus. Staff has always been friendly and atmosphere is normal for a bar/restaurant. Personally, I'd like to see a better beer selection, at least one or two crafts. It's a cool place to hang out & pre-game before a Friday or Saturday night out!

Bad food, dark and kind of dingy. Service was okay, buy for the what they charge for their food, I would expect more than powdered refried beans (waitress confession). Avoid!

Kind of a dive, but the food really isn't that bad. If you can get over the lack of atmosphere then the tex mex and american style food is enjoyable! There are very very few mexican choices in Lancaster, and for tex mex style, this is one of the better options. (if you want real mexican you should go up the street to El Serrano an authentic Peruvian/Mexican rest.) The margaritas are just right and the prices on all menu items are below average. You get full on just one quesadilla. They have specials almost every night and I've never had a problem with any of the staff. The restaurant area is good for families with some large booths. The bar area is large as well if you want to pop in for a happy hour margarita, wings, or quick bite to eat. The Margaria pitchers are the best deal!

Not a very good mexican restutrant, not baby friendly, (no changing tables in bathrooms), salsa not very good, food ok for a place to eat in a pinch. Service is good. Would not recommed for a mexican or first time mexican.

If you want good Mexican food, you should avoid Carlos and Charlies. They serve french fries with their tacos. Iced tea made from a liquid concentrate of some sort -yech! The place needs a major clean-up... Restaurant is dark and dingy...old tobacco smoke residue left over from when they allowed smoking there. Avoid the buffet. Their buffalo wings are okay.

Carlos and Charlie's is an interesting restaurant. When you walk in its a stinky smokey bar and you're kind of scared away, but when you are seated its fairly pleasant. The Mexican food is tasty and the menu is fairly extensive. The seafood quesadilla's are great. The decor in the dining area is not overly gaudy like some places and is pretty nice. In my opinion, the real reason to see Carlos and/or Charlie is for the wings. They have a nice crunchy skin and aren't completely drenched in sauce like many other places, but still have good flavor. They have about 7 different varieties and they're all good, love the Old Bay wings. The waiters aren't the best typically, but I've definitely had worse. Parking isn't too bad, the lot is typically big enough, but you do have to kamikaze out of the lot at certain times of day, especially if you're making a left.

While C&C claims to be a Mexican restaurant, they're really more of a TexMex restaurant. The food is good but not authentic Mexican (Go down the street to El Serrano for something more authentic). On the other hand, their Thursday night 1/2 margarita special as made this a weekly spot for our group of friends and we're often coming again on Sundays for wings. It's a great place to hand with friends during the evenings. Also, if you happen to work nearby, C&C is a great place to stop for their lunch buffet. Fairly decently priced and includes a drink for an all you can eat buffet, including a daily soup and tortilla chips. (You can also get delivery through Carryout Courier.

Really liked this place the bartenders were guinuen; sweet, yet not over the top. The margaritas started like atomic alchi, but wore off after #3(possible me thou ;/). Wing were very good. Nice quick fix for little $$.

We eat here often. To those who discuss authenticity, I say, was it good? It's my understanding that Carlos is for the ethnic dishes while Charlie is all American fare. At our table were cheese and crab enchiladas, soft tacos and a Texas steak sandwich & fries. Substituting guacamole for rice or beans is never a problem. Two sodas & two beers, $40, not too bad. Food is always fresh and quick, servers always do a good job. Good honest food, good value. Enjoy.

I enjoy mexican food and trying new mexican places to eat. I tried this place for just that reason. They give warm tortillas before the main course comes out and that comes fairly quickly. I found the food and atmosphere to be quite pleasant. Of course this was over lunch, so parking wasnt bad. Getting out was pretty tough tho since its at the corner of columbia and a side road with a traffic light. Id imagine its near impossible on a friday night to get out. 3 M's or Mmm.

I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a flavor explosion. On the other hand, if you have a first timer who swears they don't like Mexican because of the spice....well, it's blandelicious!!!! I think my gramms would enjoy it here.

Dirty and low grade food makes you wish you just got a pack of old el paso from the Weis markets. Dingy and rather unkempt. I would sooner grab a 40 and head to the Bell.

My first trip to this place and wow I am in love.....I am guessing from older reviews, the place was a dirty dive. I saw a bright cheerful place full of color. From what i could see would certainly could be described as clean. the food was very good, and pardon the expression but the blue and jack cheese sticks deep fried with in buffalo sauce are to die for. After just the first bite I wanted to cancel my entree and order up two or three more sets. Certainly satisified a craving for cheese and fried cheese as well. The rest of the menu was well above average. Wasnt authentic Mexican, but my girlfriend from texas, prononunced it good Tex-Mex. The service was excellent. Our server whose name was Kevin, went above and beyond for us. he clued me in on a beer deal, that saved me some cash. Still when I figured in his tip, I took it from what our bill would have been. As for my girl she loved the Southern Exposure, a drink made with coconut rum.....I wish everyone could have as delightful an experience as we did....Could certainly use some of those blue and jack sticks right now.....
