Place was clean and had a great beer selection. They had an open mic night and all the music was good. The food was very good at a reasonable price. I'll go back again.

My two sisters, mom, and I decided to try out this new resturant. First impression was that it was very clean and the decor was new. The staff was also very friendly and we were seated quickly in the dining area. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer and that was so delicious, however, all of our "main course" orders were messed up terribly. I ordered a french dip sandwich, and the waitress brought out a cheeseburger... My sister ordered a cheese burger with No onions, and the burger that was brought out only had onions on it... My other sister ordered a crispy chicken wrap, and it came out with a lot of hot sauce on it... And my mom ordered crab cakes, which were still raw in the middle. The food took forever to get to our table and was definitely not worth the wait. The wait staff was very nice and took care of our bill, but I will not be going back again.

my wife and I took two couples and my persnickety sister here on a whim. Then I read the reviews in the car on the iphone and expected the worst. When we entered the crowd looked a little sketchy, but then again maybe they were wondering what local nursing home let these old farts out on a Saturday night. Plus there was some band coming later long after our bedtime. But I was surprised. it wasn't bad. Service by our male server was smooth and quiet. They had a huge selection of beers on tap and I had the boddington pub ale - great stuff. Most of our crew had one of variety of burgers and I had the ahi tuna sandwich - all were pretty tasty. Don't come here looking for fine dining. Come here for an informal good time with friends. Even my sister from new joisey enjoyed herself, but maybe because I picked up her tab. The bathroom wall had a cool framed picture entitled, "the bathrooms of Lancaster county pubs". I'm thinkin I gotta get one of those but realized my wife's exquisite tastes in décor would put the kibosh on that...perhaps my office. My wife and a friend went back the following week for lunch and enjoyed it. Give it a try. We had fun.

Beware the reviews of this establishment and check the filter bin...something's wrong with what it's doing to this place. I was VERY pleased with the quality of the food and beverages here, but my review and 17 other highly positive reviews were relegated to filter purgatory. Try this place...the food was great.

I love townie dive bars and this meets all the criteria I would have for one of those. I have no idea how the food is, but the regulars at the bar with us seemed to love it. We did have a brownie sundae which was pretty solid. Really good beer selection and good service. We sat at the bar, so that may bias that. People were friendly and they meet every need we had.

So proud of this new establishment in our neighborhood. There is a bar, with a vast array of taps, when you first walk in, but then there are a few spacious dining rooms to provide a different ambiance. What got me hooked was a special, shepherd's pie, which was unlike any other incarnation of the dish I have tried. I enthusiastically raved about it to the server and the owner/chef came out to tell me about the ingredients. Put it on the regular menu PLEASE! After several visits I keep returning. The signature "551 Burger" might sound disgusting to some, but if you're intrigued by the spicy/sweet combination, do it. It's fantastic. (Recommended if you enjoy the Thai Chicken Crepe from Rachel's.) And Holy Crap. The french fries. The garlic fries are a garlic lover's heaven and the sweet potato fries *could* be classified as a dessert! They offer live music some nights. The Acoustic performers are awesome and provide for a laid back atmosphere to enjoy your dinner, drinks and fries with friends.

This was our first visit...probably our last! Pretty disappointed! Hubby had a Burger which was overcooked. I had a salad tonight which looked great! Presentation on the plate and taste, quality was A+....until I bit down on a pit and almost broke a tooth. All I got was an "I am sorry" and then the bill came. We had ordered $2 for that. Ordered an extra blue cheese dressing for the salad - got charged for that. The icing on the cake? When we were done and "lingering", they did everything to make it obvious that they wanted our table, besides coming right out and asking us to leave. Overall, food ok, Customer Service not ok, and the "nickel and diming" of the little extra charges-we'll take our business elsewhere.

First, the decor is wood - everywhere. It's like being below-deck on an old ship or something. The bar smacks you in the face the minute you come in the door, and it's clearly the focus of the business. You can't hear yourself think until you get past the bar to the second dining area. The food was awful - the fried pickles were SO salty it wasn't even funny. Pickles are salty on their own - why salt the hell out of the batter you fry them in? The dipping sauce was so-so. The prices were very high for what turned out to be really below average food. My husband's fried fish was frozen and tasteless, the beans were obviously out of a can and unseasoned and the rice was bleh. Asparagus overcooked. My salad's ingredients were OK, but the dressing was odd-tasting. My beer was luke warm, and the desserts were described as "fried snickers, fried oreos, or angel food cake with some kind of sauce on it." Um, no thanks. This dismal dinner for 2 came to more than $50 (including tip, which was 20% because it's not the waiter's fault he works for a pathetic restaurant). We will NOT be going back.

Have mixed feelings about this place. Food tasted very good, but was WAY over greasy. Not really sure what that is all about. Beer was nicely priced with a wide selection on tap as well as bottle. Parking SUCKS, just saying. Over all i would come again, maybe on sunday when they have all you can eat crab for about $30.

Went here for lunch today and had horrible service. We waited 20 minutes after our order was taken and the waiter came back to tell us our order didn't make it from the computer to the kitchen. We waited another 20 minutes for the food to come. There were two of us and we were the only ones in the dining room I had to pay extra for a small salad because my AHI Tuna only came with French Fries. The Tuna was on a roll and smothered with what tasted like BBQ sauce. UGH. This small lunch with iced tea cost $20. I gave the waiter a credit card and he said it was declined. Tried with another card with the same result. There were no outstanding balances on either card and it turns out that the waiter didn't know how to operate the credit card reader. Staff made no apologies. If you want comic relief and bad food and service then this is you

Went to the bar for lunch and a beer. I was attracted by their large selection of drafts. I wasn't disappointed, 27 taps and some nice bottles to boot. Prices were good...$6 for a deschutes IPA and $5 for Troegs perpetual pints. Ordered a jalapeño burger. It was ok, really greasy but that might be from all the cheese and toppings. Fries were really good, fresh and hot. Price was a little high...$9.51 (weird pricing). The place was too dark for me...I like a lot of natural light in my bars. Service was good, food came out about the right amount of time. Nice large wing section so I will be back to check out the wings. Not bad but we have a bunch of these places. Worth a try though.

I'm writing this from the perspective of someone who comes here to drink a few beers, catch up with friends and support my friends band. The bar is very clean and well presented. Plenty of draught beers to choose from as well as bottled. The service is average amongst the group, some are more lively than others but no complaints there. The bathroom facilities are very well maintained. Parking here, although a city establishment, is actually nice. There is a very well lit private parking lot diagonally across from the bar on Pine Street. I'll add to this and adjust rating if I ever decide to dine at a later date.

Can't say I have ever eaten here, but the bar is comfy, the bartenders attentive, and the pricing is good. Bathrooms are down a small flight of steps, but well maintained. This is a good "hangout" kind of place. Not sure if I would bring a date here unless she is tipsy already (LOL).

Stopped for a quick beer. No bartender in sight for like 7 minutes. Piss poor bar service at best.

Took my kids for Sunday night dinner. It's a bar but does well to accommodate families! Food is greasy but really good! A wide variety of choices! Good kids menu. Bar was busy!

I'm actually surprised by the low reviews for 551 West. I headed there on a Saturday night and had an absolute blast! A group of us headed to 551 West after a local roller derby bout (those girls are crazy!). We sat up at the bar and were served immediately by one of the bar tenders. This place has so many delicious beers available - including the Dogfish Head Punkin in freaking April! I decided on the Lil Gruesome, which is a raspberry peanut butter porter - so good! Okay, so I'm sold alone on the beer selection. For apps/dinner, we ordered the fried pickles (surprisingly good and not salty), the spicy crab dip (good, but not spicy), and an order of jerk wings and 551 rub wings. I want to take just a second to talk about how delicious the wings are here - both types that we ordered were dry rubs and they were awesome. The wings are cooked perfectly, aren't too greasy, and are very flavorful. I'm estimating there are 15 different kinds of wings on the menu and I would make the trip back to try more flavors. Aside from the good beer and good food, Blue Light Special was there performing that night. They were awesome - a cool, blues band. I really enjoyed their music and people were cutting up the dance floor. If you're looking for something fancy, it's not here, but if you're looking for a good time, this is the place for you!

I have visited this spot twice. Once was late night in the summer and they were offering half priced apps from 10pm-12. That was a great deal and the apps were delicious. The second time I went when the kitchen had just closed and the owner was nice enough to re-open it for us so we could get some food. The rice and beans were on point, and the fish tacos were amazing. The chicken tenders looked to have been made in house and the fries that accompanied the tenders were good. They have a great beer selection on tap and in bottles. The place is very large and seems like it can accommodate large groups. I will definitely go back and try more food! The owner also mentioned they have a vegetarian/vegan menu now also.

The Chilli was great, thick and spicy. I ordered the Jerk wings with hot sauce on the side also perfect. Wings were crispy and meaty. Great selection on beers on tap (20 something choices)...

Looks like a cool new bar/restaurant in a still up and coming part of Lancaster. Live music is always a good draw, though parking was limited. Decor was average, slightly dated, I wish they did more to renovate the place. Beer selection seems above average for a neighborhood bar, and prices weren't too bad. Food was a miss though. Order came out luke-warm. Appetizers were overly greasy, presentation was underwhelming. Hopefully, they keep working on the menu. Might be back for drinks if I can easily find parking, won't be back for food.

Go for beer. A little rough. We TRIED to get all u can eat crab legs on Sunday but after waiting 40 minutes and no food we gave up. Waitress did come by once in the 40 minutes to check to see if we were still alive. Hard to say they were busy only one other table occupied.
