WAG is a classic spot and is much beloved in Jenkintown (my hometown). Their tomato soup is awesome as are their breakfast items. I'm just sad they are no longer open for dinner.

I really want to like this small local business, but all the key elements of a dining experience just weren't there. I'll start off with the good: Staff friendliness - hostess greeted us with a smile, accommodated us well, and everyone working there seemed to be in a good mood. Seated immediately. Variety - somewhat of a large menu, so while others were in the mood for breakfast foods, I was able to get lunch. And that's about it. Now as for the areas of improvement... Food service: our group was kind of big, 5 adults and a baby. But 45 minutes for our food was pushing it. We went for brunch, so nothing fancy - burgers, wraps, eggs. Food came out mostly at the same time, except for one person who order eggs over easy, bacon, and waffles. They brought out the bacon on a small plate, but that was it. Had to flag our server down which took about 5 minutes to inform her, and another 5-7 until the rest of the food came out. Food quality: we had nothing fancy, so wasn't expecting too much. But my burger was cooked well done when I requested medium, and the brioche bread was upside down. I'm no cheese expert, but I think I got American cheese instead of Swiss as I ordered. Look at the pic and you be the judge! Burger itself was somewhat bland, and I wish the bum could've been a little softer. Ok, a lot softer. Everyone else's dish didn't seem like anything superb, but for the price that we paid...... Pricing: for the quality, I would've expected it to be cheaper. A side order of fries was $6, and it wasn't much more fries than what accompanied my burger. The side order came with a side of cheese, but it was nothing special. Burger came out to like $9 and change, but again, for that price, I'd expect a lot better. Coffee was $2.50, which seems steep for your run-of-the-mill cup of joe. Refills included. In summary, I wouldn't return here. And truth be told, I went to the area to eat Our Family Cafe, but it was closed, so settled for WAG. Ah well, lesson learned. Might've been an off day, so try it out yourself. You might like it.

Someone recommended that I get a burger. Advertised as "Fresh ground sirloin" and as being on a brioche bun - it was anything but. It showed up and I guess the waitress saw me staring at it. "What's wrong?" She asked. I said, "I thought that this was on a brioche bun?" She said the ran out. My conciliation prize: an eight-for-a-dollar hamburger bun from the grocery store. After I tried to eat it - it was clear that it was not fresh ground sirloin, either. It was clearly a frozen patty. It was not seasoned, either. Maybe they were out of fresh beef too. I had to dump ketchup on the burger just to give it any sort of taste. Either way - they could've told me when I ordered and I would've gotten something else. Or - when I noticed it wasn't as advertised they make an accommodation of some sort. For $12.50 plus tax and tip I had a burger, fries, and soda much worse than anything at McDonalds. So much for my first (and probably last) experience here.

We went July 3rd for breakfast, arrived around 9:45am. From the time that we ordered our food to the time that it was served it was a little over 40 minutes. The only time we got an update on our food was when we asked about it. I am aware that it was the day before a holiday but bringing in more staff next time. And after having people weight so long for their food at least give the courtesy of a % off the bill, it's called customer service. We had the strawberry French toast and the Nova LoxBenedict, learn how to make home fries! The food was good (minus the home fries ) but the service was something I would rather forget!

West Avenue Grill first came to my attention about a dozen years ago when I had time to kill in Jenkintown. Back in those days, WAG was a much smaller operation located cater-corner from its current place. I was smitten after my first bite of Mile High French Toast with caramelized bananas. Since that time, WAG has earned a spot on our regular breakfast rotation, plus it has been our New Year's Day breakfast spot for six years running. Nothing better than ringing in a new year with family and friends while enjoying a heaping helping of French Toast or a Kansas City Skillet (Mr. M's fav) and several cups of strong coffee. The service has always been efficient and and the servers pleasant. The food is consistently good and reasonably priced.

So this is my new favorite place to go after moving uptown from South Philly where the cool dining options are plentiful. I've tried a few things from the breakfast menu and I must say I was extremely impressed every single time. Some of the best turkey scrapple I have had in my life. The owner is such a sweetheart. He comes over to make sure you are comfortable and your meal is good. Now I only have one complaint. There's this one waiter (bald guy) who could probably be a little nicer. He's not out right nasty but his dry, bland demeanor and monotone is borderline rude. I did notice him laughing and smiling with another couple the other day so I'm sure he can do better. Idk maybe it's me lol But on more than one occasion he was this way. I had my cousin with me who noticed it too so I don't think I'm making it up. Despite that, this is still one of my favorite places to eat and would recommend it to friends.

Always tasty. Sure I could change a few things. Good quality seems to depend on who is good it. Pancakes aren't great. But their mile high French toast and eggs Benedict are worth the trip. Wish they didn't give you "packets" of syrup, I mean at least hide the cheap syrup in glass containers. Homemade turkey is delish in a wrap. Always leave satisfied.

We came on a Sunday morning expecting to wait but got seated right away. The restaurant was packed but the rush did not effect the prompt service. The challah French toast was AMAZING! It was a large portion so we took some home and it tasted just as good the next morning. I would recommend West Ave to anyone looking for a delicious brunch with great service. Looking forward to going back soon!

I've consistently said that West Ave Grille (Jenkintown) has the best breakfast around. Delicious french toast, super soft and fluffy pancakes, and a really great and flavorful create your own breakfast sandwich. The service is typically slow, which can be annoying, but once the food comes it's well worth the wait!

We came here 1 week ago on a Saturday afternoon. The weather outside was soo beautiful. The tables outside were full so we decided we didn't want to wait and was seated immediately inside. I ordered the special for the day. It was a Salmon, avocado, lettuce and tomatoes sandwich on toast with a side of sweet potatoes fries. It was delish.. The Salmon was so juicy and cut perfectly to fit the size of the bread. My BF had the Nova Benedict which was tasty as well. The only thing is that the potato pancake that it sits on seems a little redundant with the side of potatoes that it comes with. So my suggestion would be to ask to trade out ur side with something other than potatoes. Service was also great. We were in and out in no time.

We came in during brunch time (around 1pm) on a Friday and it was EXTREMELY busy and crowded. The waiter/waitresses/bussers all looked frazzled and harried, so I won't pick at the fact that they forgot our water and utensils (I reminded them politely and they were quick to bring the forgotten goods out). The pandemonium of the lunch rush and the forgetful service don't even matter to me because honestly, I come here for the FOOD, specifically the BREAKFAST FOOD--OH MY LAWD SO FUCKIN SCRUMPTIOUS. I had the belgian waffle with caramelized strawberries and nutella and let me tell you: the waffle was fluffed to perfection, the nutella was melted and drizzled in alllll the right places, and the strawberries added a nice, slightly tart, astringent flavor to offset the sweet. After scarfing down that doozie of a waffle, I had absolutely no regrets. In fact, I would go back and do it again. Except I probably won't be wearing tight, high-waisted jeans the next time.

I've heard people from my school rave about this place, and it's really nothing great. I got the Kansas skillet which was good, sort of small. My boyfriend got the lox omelette which was alright. The food was pretty bland and you could probably get it anywhere

What a great brunch! We went in on a holiday, but the place was bustling. The avocado, swiss and tomato omelet was excellent. Portions were very big and service was exceptional. Definitely our go to brunch spot.

Really loved the outdoor seating, especially in the early fall. Service was a little slow but they were sort of busy. My sister ordered eggs Benedict and strictly said no meat. It came out with bacon but the waiter quickly took it back and prepared a new one. I think it came out a little better but a little undercooked because they rushed it. I ordered a vegetable and cheese two egg white omelet and it was really small. On the side instead of hash browns I got a little caesar salad. Can't mess that up. We also got a Greek salad which was really good and filling! My sister also order lox, which were dry. When we told the waitress about it, she kind of just shrugged and left it on the bill even though my sister did not touch it. I guess what we picked just wasn't for us but I would go back to try other things on the menu!

Love love love west ave. We go here often for breakfast. I've had good and bad on the menu. But now I have my go to omelette and it's always great. However the hash browns are always and I seriously mean always cold (knocked a star for that). My boyfriend always got the pb and j French toast and loved it. However we just visited last weekend and noted the new menu lacking his favorite breakfast dish. Bummer. (Update they brought this back!!!) Pancakes are weird here. We both have tried them agree on that. Service is great though. Very friendly.

Had to have some more of "WAG" food, woke up craving the caramelized bananas French toast. Called to make reservations and was informed that they do NOT take reservations n that a sitting for two wouldn't be a problem. We arrived at the place to find a huge line waiting, at first it was a bit discouraging , my boyfriend for informed that there was a 20min wait. Before we know we hot escorted to our table n I ask for a Bellini . Mmmmm We place our order ( omelet n French toast) not bad of wait n the food come. Hot n freshly prepared. Soooo tasty. Great experience, will be back soon

This place is good. I always get the eggs Benedict and it didn't disappoint but it was a small portion. The $5 burgers on Sunday was very good as well. Although it was plain, it was still delicious. The fries were amazing. Would come back. Favorite breakfast so far.

  • Liana L.

Brunch on Sunday around 1 was pretty poppin ill admit. Our wait for 2 was around 15 minutes. We split a soup and I got a salad off the menu. I was able to customize it a bit without any charges. The salad was a great portion and got tons of options as ingredients for my likings. My bf got the pbj French toast. I snuck a couple bites and it wasn't that bad just didn't know how he was able to finish it, a lil heavy for my liking. But overall this restaurant was great for a bite with average service. Wasnt expecting too much. Nothing to fancy just your down to earth local eatery.

Stopped in for breakfast late Sunday morning fully expecting a wait based on other reviews. We did wait about 15 or 20 minutes but it wasn't in a super awkward spot near other diners so not a big deal. The hostess has total command of the dining room, moving people in quickly as bus staff clears tables and resets. If your entire party isn't there when your table is ready, she moves politely but firmly to the next party. I like this method and it keeps the dining room flowing. We ended up with a nice table backed to a wall in the corner so a little more private. Our waitress came over immediately to greet us and take drink orders. She brought us tall iced waters without asking and our ordered coffee was steamy and good. We placed our orders and while mine was not complicated, it was a variation of the menu and I think I was having a hard time conveying exactly what I wanted. No problem , our waitress was patient, read it back and got it all correct without missing a beat. Food came reasonably fast, enough time to sip coffee, chat and people watch. Our meals were delicious, hot, huge portions and fresh. I had a side of fruit which was surprisingly fresh and tasty for early March. My omelet was cooked perfectly as well as my bacon- just crispy enough. Food very good, priced reasonably and honestly great wait staff and hostess . They were very busy and really hustling but pleasant and quick with their attention. Everyone we passed on our way out said goodbye and thanks for coming. This place is a winner.

Our first time here on a recommendation from a friend, Outstanding on all levels. We had five different dishes and each one was great. Above all the service is flawless. Great attention to detail and most of all kind and friendly. Very welcoming. Can't wait to go back.

I am never disappointed when I come here. The food is always consistent and the staff is always on point. Hands down, the best brunch in Jenkintown.

  • Steve K.

We have had very good breakfasts here for some years now - the staff are all accommodating and usually skilled. Breakfasts are cooked well and the place will let ya sit a bit if you want. Dinners have been OK as well and the benefit IMO is a good choice of fermented malt beverages including Guinness on tap for a reasonable five bucks for those times you don't want to venture to a bar. While sitting in the walkway between West street and the parking lot does not sound nice it is often quite nice . Coffee is decent here and they do a lot of various drinls and ok deserts too. A reliable close to home choice.

I froze at the dresher location today. Cold air from the door made my fingertips cold....guest has their coats on...Food was good, but they don't have enough cooks to accommodate the lunch crowd. Burger with cheese and bacon with waffle fries. If you only have an hour for lunch...make another choice.

Service was slow. Ordered the steak medium; it was still mooing when I got it. Dried chunks of toasted bread (that need to be cut) do not croutons make. What appear and taste like canned mushrooms On my meat.

  • Beata W.

Not the same. My fiancé and I always ate here, but the most recent visit maybe our last. The food taste different. We ordered breakfast which was the basic eggs, home fries and a side of meat. I also ordered French toast. The home fries tasted like they were frozen and recooked, the eggs had very little flavor, and the French toast was taken off our bill because it looked awful and inedible. I like the manager and the hostess but the food.........not the same.

This review is for breakfast/brunch. Headed here on a sunday morning and initial impressions were positive. Friendly staff, large bar area in the front and ample seating in the dining room. Nice, comfortable ambience. What you would expect from a quaint, non-chain cafe/grill. Service was quick and attentive. Coffee was much above average for local restaurants. I had the make your own omelete with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and spinach. Cooked really well and just a really good omelete. My buddy had a bacon, eggs over easy, and cheddar on a bagel. It looked phenomenal and he attested to its excellence. He also had pancakes with it. Although the pancake looked good, it was served with smuckers "breakfast syrup" in a plastic carton. Ugh. Ya gotta have real maple syrup! Really a disappointment. Overall, 4 stars for savory, 2.5 stars for sweet, but since I usually prefer the former, i'll go with the 4 stars. Will definitely return.

Best wings (signature wings) order extra crispy if u like them Crispy. Breakfast is great the banana french toast might be a little too soggy but good overall. Great service, easy parking. They deliver at lunch time also.

I go here sometimes because it's convenient to where I live and it's a cleaner and quieter area for al fresco dining. However, if you're looking for great tasting food, this isn't the place to go. Sorry... Theres nothing special about the omelets, the grits aren't that great, and the potatoes are just so-so. Not worth the cost. Just cook your own meal. I give it three stars because the service is good and the area is clean and well-kept. I'f give the food two stars.

Is what it is. Salads are good but the lettuce is always watery. The menu has alot of options and everything made on the menu is average in taste and quality. I go here alot for quick lunch. They are great with takeout...always have your order ready.

After having this restaurant recommended to me by several good friends of mine we decided to try it out. We had the wings and the hummus for starters. Excellent. I had my Dogfish Pumpkin Ale. Excellent. I had the Western Omelet, wife has the french toast with caramelized bananas, and the sister had the macaroni cheese bake. Excellent. Our waitress-excellent. The decor-excellent. Prices-excellent. Cleanliness-excellent. How to wrap this review up? Excellent.

This is one of those places that I go every six months or so and then realize why I haven't been back in so long. I try different things each time (salads, turkey burger, crab cake, sandwiches) hoping for it to be better, but I'm always disappointed. Pretty bland, salads never feel fresh, and the food is just plain uninspired. Tonight I just ordered a sandwich with Swiss lettuce and tomato and a side salad. Kitchen sent out a plate with a dry sandwich, nothing but turkey and bread and a wilted side salad- dry. There was only one other table of two at the time. Don't know how you send a plate out like that. Only reason it didn't get one star was bc if you like fried foods or breakfast, you can get by here.

West Ave Grill is one of the better places to get breakfast in these parts - when visiting family in Fox Chase, we usually end up making the drive here. They have a nice selection of vegetables for their omelets, and they make pretty good eggs benedict, including traditional or versions with portabello mushrooms, crab cakes, nova lox, or florentine. I don't usually do sweets for breakfast, but they've got an impressive selection of french toast, pancakes, and waffles, and I'm glad they carry pure maple syrup if you want it. Service and atmosphere are pleasant for the most part. I'm glad that West Ave Grill is an option when we're in the area.

I have been to this place a few times with friends (usually in the mornings when it isn't as crowded). The wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is both tasty and reasonably priced! I have heard good things about some of the other menu items, but tend to gravitate towards breakfast food (since I am usually looking to have a similar experience to my previous visit). I am a huge fan of their French toast... I usually get mine topped with fresh strawberries and maple syrup. Is it the best food I have ever tasted in life?... No, but again, the food is pretty decent and won't break the bank when in the mood for a nice breakfast outing. I am a fan of West Ave Grille and fully intend to return. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfy spot to have breakfast with a friend!

I give this place 4 stars on the potential that they will be better next time. While eating there on a lovely Sunday morning brunch, we decided to eat outside. I kinda of believe that at most places, doing that is setting you up for bad service, but whatever it was a gorgeous day and I wanted to make the most of it. The host and the server were both nice, but after ordering my food, it came out without some of the toppings that I had ordered it with. I politely waited for 5 mins to see if the server would check on us, and then fix it, but after getting the food we were not revisited for quite some time (due to sitting outside? i think so). I ended up just eating it and not worrying about it. When the server finally did check on us, I was nearly done, but to her credit she did notice the missing toppings on my hot dog. She looked remorseful so I guess I will venture back there at some point and eat there again. The ambiance is nice there on West street, old mixed with new. I like the towny quaint feel and they have a fairly large menu. The restaurant is modern and clean, and worth trying again.

Just moved into the town a few months ago and went with my family for lunch this weekend. Everyone ordered a soup (Tomato/Chicken Noodle/Butternut Squash) and all were awesome. One person ordered the pear salad and reported it was not only excellent but the portion size was very large for the price. We also ordered a turkey wrap and a chicken/Avocado club both were good, probably not spectacular. The service was good and friendly for sure, but the wait for the food was probably a little longer than I expected considering how many people were in the place at the time. Certainly a great small business to hit up in Jenkintown with fair prices, good food and a friendly atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in town for sure.

Had the chicken salad club today. It was excellent. Service was slow however being fair it was during the lunchtime. I will return

The best lobster ravioli I have ever had! Easily one of the best restaurants in Jenkintown. The restaurant is a little small, and service can sometimes be slow, but you will not be disappointed in the end!

  • Janice T.

I've been to both the Jenkintown and the Dresher location for dinner and found the food to be overpriced for what it was. Just recently I had the turkey burger which was an overcooked turkey burger on a cold bun with tomato and lettuce. Their breakfast specials sound great though so maybe worth another try for brunch. Otherwise... not really worth it. Service was great, however, and staff was friendly. Jenkintown is a bit cozier than the Dresher one too.

Delicious- Order the veggie burger wrap. There is nothing better. I am NOT a vegetarian but this thing is amazing!!!

The portions are fine. The prices are fine. The pumpkin pancakes are fine. The omelettes are fine. The service is fine. The everything bagel is fine. On the action-movie-parallel-satisfaction-scale, this establishment is The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

This has to be one of the worst meals I have ever had. All we had was breakfast! How can one not get breakfast right? My 12 year old can fix better breakfast than this kitchen. It baffles me. The coffee was unpalatable. It was like flavored water. I even asked the staff to brew me a stronger pot of coffee and offered to pay extra for the trouble. They responded with a resounding no! Really? Wow! I tried both the locations in Jenkintown and Dresher and found them to be a complete disappointment. The coffee was terrible in both locations as well. One waitress in Dresher was rude and does not belong in this business. However, all other staff members seemed polite and courteous to me at both locations. The dining rooms was not bad and presented a good appearance. Sadly all parties at my table put their forks down with disappointment. Too bad since I would have made it a regular stop. The Kitchen Bar in Abington, PA is far superior if you need to look for breakfast in the area. If you really want to treat yourself to proper breakfast, I strongly recommend places like Steven Star's The Continental in Old City or Chestnut Street. However, stay away from here.

Ate here again on 8/28/13 and the food was good but there were flies and gnats EVERYWHERE. I was embarrassed to have suggested West Ave as my friend kept having to swat away the buggies!

We had breakfast at the Dresher location, not bad, not great. There is just something about little places in strip malls that just don't appeal to me, but again, our breakfast meal was o.k.

Love the food here as well as the service BUT they got expensive. 2 club sandwiches, tater tots and a few diet sodas $40 at lunch. That just seems a bit high.

We were excited to try the WAG for brunch because it's so close to home and is known for their breakfast. Our first impression is that it is out of date and dirty. The bar was filthy with the laminate peeling up, bar rags laying on top of it, a cup of oil with dead flies in it and several dirty shakers and muddlers. The menu looked delicious so we wanted to try it anyway. We waitrd a while for our food. Everything stuck to the bar and floor. The bathroom was disgusting. I watched meals sit up in the window with flies visiting them but not picked up for over 10min. My husband offered to take me somewhere else 3 times but I really wanted to give the food a try. My omelette was completely overcooked with the eggs dry and the veggies burnt. My husband's eggs benedict was also completely over-cooked and the grits were bland. Our server was very nice but it seems like the management and kitchen has just given up.

I really want to love the West Ave Grille, because the people are friendly and the place is cute, but I have found the food to be really hit or miss. The baked macaroni and cheese is out of this world. The last time I had it, it came with crumbled up Cheez-its on top. Usually now I get a salad for dinner with some sort of protein - steak, chicken, or salmon. It's all right. The steak is a little boring and maybe a little dry, but still pretty satisfying. I've also gotten the stir fry, which is absolutely not stir fry. It's sloppier than any stir fry I've ever made myself or eaten anywhere before and it doesn't come with nearly enough rice. So, like I said, dinner has been hit or miss. And for the amount that they charge for a salad, it really should be better. I've only eaten at West Ave once for breakfast and I had an omelet. It was delicious though. The food does come out very quickly though and the waiters are all friendly and attentive.... the food just isn't particularly special. I like the outside seating.

This is the best place to get brunch in the Glenside/Jenkintown/Abington area. First off, you can get grits or oatmeal with your order. That's never a bad thing. Next, they cook their omelets just right and you can get them any way you want, with egg whites or egg beaters and with a long list of ingredients *including* avocado. They had me at avocado. Apparently breakfast is served all day. I didn't realize that until now. Guess I need to add this to the list of places we hit on a Friday night after a long week of work.

Don't waste your time if you like good food. The atmosphere is great, just crappy food. Dinner portion of salmon was sized smaller than anyone else's lunch portion and over-cooked salmon sucks. Or how about spoiled burger meat. Telling us it arrives fresh everyday doesn't change it from being spoiled. Plenty of good restaurants in the area, go elsewhere.

We had seen this place on a couple of trips to other spots on West Ave so went back on Saturday afternoon to try it for lunch. Very friendly staff and good service. My son had a burger and my husband had the pork sandwich and both were very happy. I had the tuna melt which was a bit dry and burned. We'd try it again if we were in the neighborhood but probably wouldn't make a special trip to go there.

Good food at slightly above price. Fruit parfait, sausage, and eggs were prepared properly yet received undercooked pancakes. Outdoor seating available and on a nice day is wonderful. Staff is fast, courteous, polite, and professional. I've been here several times and will return to hit up nice beer selection and dinner.

Really charming little spot. I've been here a few times now, delicious breakfasts, dinner and great drinks - the brunch cocktails are a special treat. Friendly waitstaff. Plenty of parking in the lot behind the restaurant and in a nice spot that's an easy walk over to the Hiway movie theater. Looking forward to my next visit.

Very nice little place tucked away in a small street. It;s surprising how many people know about this place. The wait can get pretty long, especially on a Sunday morning. It's worth the wait though. Normally I would go there with my girlfriend and she would always order the french toast with caramelized bananas and I would order the breakfast burrito. We both have had other things on the menu but always tend to go back to these two.

I've been here a few times, and have always enjoyed it. The food is beautiful, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the wait staff is very sweet. I love the outside seating, too, the small alleyway they have is lovely. I'll go here as long as they're open - not every day, but every time I want a nice lunch out.

When I look at other yelpers I want details. So what can you Nosh on here? Breakfast all day, I see the famous Mile High Challah French Toast with carmalized bananas that looks divine. You can get a full mile for $8.50 or half mile for $6.50 All the typical eggs, omelettes run around $8.50. Their signature dishes are Kansas City Skillet; home fries, onions, eggs and provolone cheese for $8.95. Some great looking Nova Lox Benedict; English muffin, nova Lox, poached eggs, and hollandais sauce for $10.95 A typical kids menu runs around $3.95-5.50. Lunch I chose their P.E.I mussels in a garlic white sauce. A full order is $16.95 and half order is $9.95. All the lunch fair looks good, my neighbors got a oven baked veggie burger wrap with grilled mushrooms, onions and provolone cheese for $8.95. Their fries are a nice medallion cut and look very savory. Dinner entrees are available after 5pm. Would go there again.

This is my favorite local restaurant for brunch. I come from the land of diners so this is the best place in this area to get a meal that is pretty close to traditional diner fare. Sometimes seating can be an issue, but you usually never wait long and it is definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend the tuna melt - this my favorite "fat kid" meal that allow myself after a really hard work-out or race. They also make a tasty bloody mary, that I have sampled a few times.....

One of our favorite local family places. Great selection, including particularly good breakfast/griddle options. It can get busy and a little slow at times, but that's what happens when you are one of the best area eateries....

West Ave. Grill- Its a happy place in Jenkintown with a lot of locals eating outside under umbrellas with their dogs at their feet and kids on their lap. Inside their is a large and small area with a bar to eat and look past the parking lot to nicer part of Jenkintown town square. The wait staff is always nice and the owner is often around to talk to. Free dum dum lolly pops at the counter as you walk out and news papers to read if you are eating alone or want to check in on the Phillies. Food- always good. Great pancakes that are fluffy and crispy on the edges. Kansas City is a great breakfast too- for the most part great. Big salads could have more Stuff in them- more of the things that are supposed to be there- as described etc. But a complaint is readily heard and they always try to make you happy. It's Nice- try it.

NEW LOCATION NOW OPEN! 2d Street Pike in Southampton. Just had lunch there and it was just as great as the Jenkintown location, without the drive. Portions were huge, service was great. Now I have to try the fried Oreos - maybe with a scoop of drunken chocolate gelato. This is exactly what this area needed and I am sure we will be "regulars."

I like West Ave. Grille and have eaten then maybe a dozen times. Their dinner menu offers the sort of staples you'd expect from a grille and most are prepared capably. One of my favorite items is their hummus, primarily because their pita slices are so good (and because it seems like one of the healthier things on the menu). I've had some nice weekend breakfasts there too. Despite what some of the silly grumps on here will tell you, prices are reasonable and I've always found service to be pretty good. Inside dining can be a little crowded during busy hours (sometimes there is more room at the bar). The thing I love best about the place is that they offer a nice shady area to dine outside and they are one of the few dog-friendly spots around. Some days, all I want is a place where I can eat a burger, drink a beer, and relax with my dog while watching the small town foot traffic walk by, and this place fits the bill. I guess you could say that its main selling point is that it's a cute little neighborhood-y place in a neighborhood that lacks many other comparable choices (I love Jenkintown, but it seems to eat most businesses up and spit them out all too quickly). For that, I wish it well and will continue to visit, especially for their outdoor seating.

I love to experience new food and occasionally american bars. The atmosphere is nice for hanging out with friends, service is friendly. FOOD OVERPRICED and NOT THAT GREAT for the VALUE. It was just ok, i definitely had better. DO not think i will return... luckily their are more bars nearby for a friday night drink.

West Avenue Grill has to be one of my favorite eating spots in Jenkintown. They have a reasonably priced menu, the food is always fresh and tasty. I reccommend the Turkey Burger--- Delish, moist, and the bun is perfectly toasted. The staff is super friendly, I never leave disappointed. For a healthy option try the pine forest salad with grilled chicken and balsamic vinagarette, soooo goood. The chicken is perfectly grilled, it has pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes, cranberries, and feta cheese over spinach and good romaine lettuce.

For three years I have worked just on the other side of Old York Road. I wish I'd discovered this place sooner, since I got a new job and am leaving Montgomery County for good! That's right, see ya suckers! Anyway -- my coworker and I sat outside on a very hot and breezy day. It was quite pleasant. The service was quick and friendly. The menu is pretty extensive and breakfast is served all day -- my coworker had the sun dried tomato and avocado omelet ... you know I can't resist sneaking a bite. It was great. I had my eye on the Pine Forest salad -- I like the name and I love pine nuts. However I was told the kitchen was out of pine nuts and they'd substitute pecans instead. Fine. However, the salad arrived sans-nuts and boy was I disappointed. I like some crunch in my salad. I was starving and I didn't want to wait til the waitress came back around so I started eating... by the time she did, I had eaten half the thing and decided not to bother with it. Let me just say that the rest of the salad was fresh and pretty tasty. I will order something different next time though. It seems to be a great lunch/brunch kind of place. Maybe I can squeak in another visit before I depart...

If u like hair in your over priced over processed food, come here!!! I've been here a few times because I work close by, and I've always found something in my food that wasn't suppose to be there, including glass in my homefries!!! And they're $17 crab cakes come frozen!!! Gross!!! I think the place itself is kinda cute, but the food takes forever to come out and just isn't very good. It's disgusting.

The space is cute inside, somehow the room seemed to emanate a good energy and they also have outdoor seating which is a plus. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and reasonably attentive. But the food, um...not so much. We had an eclectic mishmosh of items one hot evening recently starting with 2 specials on offer for $5 each - steamed muscles with white sauce and hubby had some kind of Belgium beer. The muscles were decent, lots of garlic and served with fresh pumpernickel bread so how can you go wrong? The beer was really good but served in a goblet, not a pint or anything so he drank it up in about two swallows. For our entrees hubby had the cobb salad and I had the asparagus, mushroom, swiss omelet. His salad was ok, it tasted fine and seemed to be real turkey but the other ingredients were rather skimpy. My omelet was passable but the swiss cheese was not the highest quality and it was slightly overcooked; the home fries were very good though and the bagel decent as well. So overall not bad but not great. I had heard they have "such a good breakfast" there so maybe it's their pancakes or french toast where they excel.

I would have given 4 stars but I'm giving 5 because it's the only place like this in the area. It's very cozy, and the food is great. It has a great variety, you can have breakfast or lunch. There are fruits, oatmeal, as well as eggs, omelettes, french toast, or salads, sandwiches, soups, and other lunch meals. The prices are OK. The atmosphere is great, the service is extremely friendly. Great for brunch!!!

My husband and I went here for lunch, and I just loved the look! It's so cute! I'll definitely take advantage of the outside seating when the weather permits it. The wait staff was very friendly. They gave us a nice portion of food. We didnt order anything special, but the food came out quickly. I'm looking forward to trying dishes others have recommended!

Terrible experience with their catering and the owner was a real jerk and would not take responsibility for his staff's major error.

The service was great, very friendly, the manager (a stout bearded man) even said "bye now" when we were leaving. Food was just OK. I got the fried egg and cheese sandwich on wheat toast. Basically I could make it way better at home and I am no super chef. The toast was barely toasted, the eggs were hard and the cheese was tasteless American slice. In the past I have had the banana challah French toast and that was awesome so I am a bit conflicted on how to rate this place. The atmosphere is comfortable and the waitress we had was really great. I say try it but don't get your hopes up too high.

It was pretty exciting when West Avenue Grill opened up considering the lack of good eateries in the neighborhood. I've eaten here for brunch, lunch, and dinner on numerous occasions. The food is consistently good and there are yummy seasonal options that they add to the existing menu. Sometimes, the service leaves something to be desired if you get stuck with some high school newbie. There can definitely be a wait when all of the blue-haired ladies decide they want to lunch (or see a movie at the theater down the street). They offer a decent array of beers beyond the standards that most restaurants carry. The outdoor seating for warm weather is a plus as well.

This place has decent meal options and lots of seating space. Service tends to be slow. And it does get crowded around brunch time on Sundays. Not a bad place to grab a quick bite.

I eat breakfast here alot, and yeah its rather crowded and yeah the waitresses know and converse with my dad and yeah it IS irritating... but in my experience the service was always prompt, hot food served hot, decent portions of food... and its always good! i would reccommend the oatmeal, grits and home fries... everything else is just glorified diner food

We came here with a group of 4 adults and 1 young child. None of us had been here before, so we were expecting a regular sized, somewhat nice restaurant, just based on their website. At first we were disappointed when we saw the place (small, too brightly lit). The menu is pretty extensive, including sandwiches, burgers, apps, and full platters. All of our food was decent, but not anything to rave about. The waiter was very nice and attentive.

Just got back from breakfast here and am impressed. The french toast with caramelized bananas is the bomb! The two eggs were standard fare. Service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. The dining room, glasses, and silverware were clean enough. I haven't had dinner here so I'll change the rating later after a few more visits but for now I'd recommend this place!

Brunch-a-riffic! This is one of my favorite spots to hit up when I'm feeling too hungry for cereal and too lazy to make something hearty. The food is awesome (I've tried everything from pancakes, which are some of the best around, to omelets, wraps and sandwiches) but the service is out of this world. Try to get a table in Sarah's section - she deserves a major raise because she is awesome. It can get crowded at prime brunch time so be prepared to wait - but there is a gazebo and park area outside (as well as plenty of metered parking) that's perfect to pass the time away as long as it's warm.

Great spot for brunch. Nice selection of food - something for every taste. Nice homey feel, staff excellent. Can be loud during very busy times, and cramped when full. Everything I tried excellent, with the exception of the gravy that tasted canned, which was surprising, because everything else was great.

I like the food here, most of the time. It's a little too busy, and difficult to get a table sometimes, but is usually a good find. the challah french toast rocks! Also a little pricey for breakfast.

This is my "go to" place when I have out of town guests and want to show off the quaint neighborhood closest to my home. I have been here aver 50 times over 5 years. I love love the pumpkin pancakes served around the fall. I told the owner that I tried to replicate these for myself and children. He sent me home with enough batter to make breakfast for my entire family. As a charge, he told me to enjoy and relax. The service is always nice. Though I would say some staff are quicker than others. In addition, the outdoor seating adds a nice touch in the warm weather. The fireplace adds a nice touch in the cold weather.

Trying to stay true to the rating stars... Meh. I've experienced better. While not entirely bad food, just not impressive for the price you pay. Our child had a kids meal, $6 for Mac and Cheese that tasted exactly like the microwave in a little plastic cup variety. My cheesesteak was ok, but I can go down the road to the McKinley market and get a much better one for literally half the price. Generally very nice staff, even when they get busy.

Your options are kinda limited in jenkintown I feel. This place is pretty swell. Good menu. Nothing mind blowing. Service was actually significantly slow for lunch. prob took like 80 minutes to eat. Food was solid. Nice chicken salad club with poppy seeds?? in it. My friends omlette looked good. Got some onions rings. Uncharacteristic for me, but I was mildly pleased with them. Bill was a little pricey I felt. Cost me like 19 bucks with tip. That's all I got.

ok, this one is tough. if i'm gonna take kids to a spot for brunch in the near north burbs it's gonna be here. it's easy and the food ain't bad. but it ain't great. and, in addition, the bar's draft selections suck. i know that sounds strange, but I walk to west ave, and i want an IPA with my scrapple. and i want, maybe, a huevos option. but foreals, west ave is mad nice to me and my kids and is pretty decent. i can only vouch for breakfast.

A nice little restaurant in Jenkintown right off Old York Road on West Avenue, hence its name...owned by a family from my synagogue who also owns Max and David's in Elkins Park. I've only ever been to West Avenue Grill once, but I will always remember how amazing their mile high french toast (made with challah bread and garnished with caramelized bananas) was. It happens to be one of their signature entrees, and I can see why. Their hours are interesting though; they are open for breakfast/lunch/brunch,etc. and close around 2pm (however, they allow customers to stay and eat if they are seated prior to that time) and then reopen in the evening around 6 or 7pm for dinner. Though for anyone who is looking for a nice place to have brunch on a Saturday or Sunday morning, provided it's not too crowded, West Avenue is the place to go, and a nice plus is that it's surrounded by some nice little shops you can check out before or afterwards.
