What an interesting interior. We sat upstairs which is brighter, but a little louder due to the volume and location of the speakers pipping in French music. What initially drew me to this location was the handcrafted cocktails. The Manina Martini was a delicious combination of cinnamon, pineapple, and vodka, but I did send it back to be sweetened and they fixed me right up. Although I don't see it on their online menu, we had an appetizer that was divine. It was a piece of French country bread covered in the lightest foam butter imaginable and they they shaved truffles on top right in front of me! For entrees, we feasted on a daily special of organic pork and from the menu, the Robespierre. Unfortunately, the pork dish was two little loins with the entire rib attached. I was disappointed in its presentation and felt somewhat misled by the server's description. The Robespierre, on the other hand, was amazing. Now at $60 for this steak alone it might not be worth it to some and unfortunately, it was asked for medium and it came out very bloody. This cut has a lot of bone, but it is also almost 3.5 inches thick. Needless to say, its an experience made better by their wonderful blue cheese topping. Service was good, but it did still take us over 2 hours to have a meal. So plan on this being The Event of the night and not a stop before a show. I will most definitely be back and will take my time to make sure that I fully understand how a dish is built before ordering.

Stopped in for happy hour and thought it was overpriced for harrisburg... especially for being off the main track, which might explain why it was empty. $9 for a draft beer that I typically buy by the six pack in the Grocery store seemed a bit much... $18 for a cocktail??? That's Soho prices... we left after one drink and headed down to second Street to some of the places that were packed with people and a little more reasonable. The food might be good... we didn't stick around long enough to find out...

We went to this restaurant for dinner. Great atmosphere, great service and food was delicious. I would recommend the mussels for a starter. And end your meal with the crème Brulé. The prices were reasonable and the cocktail (adult beverages) menu was awesome. Looking forward to dining there again.

Saturday night, sat outside , we ordered the house selection cheese and meats, and it was incredible. Entrees we had Foi gras and Le coq and they were amazing too. A perfect place for a special occasion, nice atmosphere, great, relaxed and classy atmosphere.

Great atmosphere! The bar is absolutely a must! The mussels were good... Not excellent but pretty good. 5 stars to the awesome service and atmosphere! A must in Harrisburg PA!

Really had an amazing time here. My girlfriend and I went for the Brazilian vibes. I have been to Suba and her sister restaurant several times and those are both very nice but I was totally blow away by the space and atmosphere at Rubicon. It's easily one of the most beautiful restaurants in Harrisburg. Just like Suba the cocktail menu is well thought out and extensive. My love and I spent quite a bit of time going over it. I really wanted to try them all. The two we settled on we're both very good with flavors that were quite subtle and complex. I'd still say that Suba takes the prize for best cocktails in the city, but Rubicon is still a fine place to have some drinks. And then the food! Everything we had was very good but I would strongly recommend the French onion soup because the ham and cheese sandwich that comes with is really amazing. Also had the DLT, duck bacon lettuce and tomato, big thumbs up. The Jamon de Paris was also quite yummy.

Gorgeous place, friendly bartenders. Had a pretty decent gin martini in a traditional cocktail glass. Class all the way.

Found this place on Google after searching "cool places to eat in Harrisburg" It is a French-chic restaurant, and the owner also is responsible for the popular Manga Qui (sp?) Anyway, it was so cool walking into this place at night. The purple lights were lighting up the streets, and the chandeliers were visible through huge Bay windows- it was very intimate and dimly lit, and bed welcoming. The focal point was definitely the bar- as evident by the beautiful centered bar and the page long menu of various mixed drinks. We came in to celebrate my birthday! We were sat in the first floor. We ordered the bakers dozen oysters for our starter($12 happy hour, 5-7) and got different apps: turtle soup and frog legs! The frog was basically weak chicken wings, but the turtle soup was a remarkable selection. Huge portion! The dinner was remarkable. I had salmon, my mom some Asian-inspired ramen (beautiful presentation!), my dad a pig-stomach BLT, and my brother the steak special (which he said was the best he ever had). We walked off dinner a bit by exploring upstairs, which offered an amazing view of the capital. My parents surprised me with dessert- baked Alaska, flambéed in front of us (but I actually kinda hate that particular dessert, but my family said it was good). We will def come back with more family and take advantage of happy hour!

Wow!! This place is great!! It is so nice to know that Harrisburg can offer a top quality restaurant like Rubicon. I am from Harrisburg, but live in Philadelphia now, and I always talk about the potential the City of Harrisburg has, and this restaurant really speaks of its potential!!! The ambiance is TOP NOTCH. It really is a 5 star restaurant in this regard. The service is TOP NOTCH. The beverages are amazing and the food was great. I have high standards for french food, and this place definitely offers a great authentic menu, without any of the dumb downed versions you would possibly expect. The food was good, not exceptional, but not anything to complain about. As someone else commented, the combination of food and ambiance cannot be beat locally! I will be back. Keep it up!!

My new fav in the Burg. Everything we had was perfect. I could find no fault with anything. The daily special Grilled Octopus Salad was excellent; medallions of grilled octopus with house-pickled red onion, chunks of ripe Haas avocado and a lime habanero vinaigrette dressing. It was actually spicy. The entree was a special as well. Two soft shell crabs very, very lightly battered, pan sauteed with an exquisite cashew sauce, over a bed of lime-mango black rice with chunks of dead ripe mango served in the rice. The cardamom creme brulee was an obscenity. Total for two with drinks was $110, although we only had one starter and one dessert between us. The soft shell entree was $30, which was less than I expected. PLEASE NOTE: You can park in the Mangia Qui lot. We asked.

Pros: Service, atmosphere, food, drinks. Cons: Pricey drinks, parking (not the restaurants fault, blame the city of Harrisburg). My wife and I went out for a double date and we all decided to sit at the full service bar and enjoy a meal with drinks during their happy hour. We were immediately greeted by their bartender AJ and he recommended some of their specialty drinks. We went with what he recommended and AJ even poured my friend a drink not on the menu and it turned out amazing. We started out with some oysters all of which were fresh and the house made vinaigrette that it came with was perfect. My wife and I had sandwiches both of which were good. The lotus root chips that my sandwich came with my wife and I had to fight over. They were nice and light and melted in your mouth. The couple that we went with were both very happy with their meals and my friend let me try a little bit of his salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce over top was light and delicious. The decor in this place was amazing. The bar surface was handmade as well as the iron work going upstairs. The ceiling made you feel like you were in a really nice barn. We can't wait to make it back.

My friend and I went here for happy hour tonight and could not have been happier with our experience. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly but not stuffy at all. The building is stunningly beautiful. The front door was open to let the fresh air in. There were only a few people in the restaurant when we arrived but it quickly filled up. We sat next to a very nice gentleman who was new to the area and had a pleasant conversation while waiting for our drinks. The bar is beautifully appointed with jars of fresh fruit and herbs. The cocktails were inspired and very strong. :) It was a leisurely meal, which we were both happy to experience. This really isn't a place you want to come, eat and run. The two-story set up is lovely as are the unique chandeliers. I had the butter dipped radish and fois grois appetizer. My friend had a few radish off of my plate. Nice, crisp and slightly peppery. We both had the hamburger and frites. We both LOVED them. The garlic mayo had a lovely touch of lemon juice. It was difficult to decide what to eat so we decided to go back again soon and try something new. On Sundays before 6 sandwiches and draft beer are half price. Very worth it. We skipped dessert but later decided we probably should have splurged. I would recommend anyone try this place. I am definitely taking my mother here on her next visit.

Excellent food, cocktails and service. The bartender was really friendly and the cocktails that he made were amazing. I loved the Lucky Strike and Twist and Shout. My bf ordered the Sickle and Scythe (which has habenero infused pickle juice) and really liked it, especially the pickle garnish. We ate a variety of small plates for dinner including oysters ($1/piece during happy hour), mussels and frites, turtle soup and the charcuterie. It was my first time trying oysters, but I really enjoyed them. Everything else from the mussels to the turtle soup were absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to go back! My only wish... I would love the place even more if they did a deal on drinks for happy hour. The $11-$13 per cocktail price is similar to other upscale bars in the area, but I can't afford to be a regular.

Kudos for Qui (the owner of one of my favorities, Mangia Qui) for opening this place and investing heavily in a beautiful dining room. Likely the nicest atmosphere in town. The food was good, but inconsistent. Dishes I loved, others not so much. No complaints though! I am so happy we have great choices like this in Harrisburg.

Excellent service at the bar. Claudia was fantastic. Much better than the first time when no no greeted us at he door for 5 minute so! So we walked next store! This time the food was great, the oysters were the best in town! These are a happy hour special!! Steak tartra and escargot were the best Ask for Claudia she steer you right!!!!!

Rubicon is fab. I would expect nothing less from Qui Qui. We were back for a long-overdue visit to my old stomping ground and planned to go to Mangia Qui, but then when we were Yelping we saw that Rubicon had an oyster happy hour, which is totally our jam. All the oyster HHs in our neck of the woods are at inconvenient times and we never get to indulge in them, so we were wicked psyched. First, the space is gorgeous. Really, really well-designed, with a second floor, mod lighting, and an ornate tin ceiling. We all remarked at how the space was so beautiful that it was almost too fancy for this town. This would be a great place for special occasions, fancy party, or a wedding. The service was impeccable. The BF says it was maybe the best service he has ever had. I'm sure it didn't hurt that there were very few diners, but our waiter was incredibly attentive and lovely, which made for a pleasurable, relaxing evening. The cocktail menu is really interesting, the drinks complex, and everything was delicious. We ordered maybe 3 dozen oysters, and all agreed we preferred the HH oysters (I want to say maybe Malpeques?) which were less briny than the daily special. The shucking could have been a bit cleaner, as there was more than average shell grit, but the mignonette was unquestionably the most flavorful we've had. We ordered the tartare without egg (as I absolutely hate eggs), which came with vichyssoise. Unfortunately, the tartare still came with egg, but the BF wasn't bothered so there was no reason to send it back--I ate around the edges and it was clean, very beefy, larger texture, well-seasoned. I liked the vichyssoise on its own, which was a bit on the thick side, but I'm not quite sure that it added much to the tartare. The BF also got the duck "haute" dog with red kraut and pomme paille, which was fantastic. BF doesn't usually do cabbage in any conception but he raved about it. The pomme paille were too salty for him, but not for me, and I thought they were perfect and crunchy--they definitely aren't for the salt-sensitive, I concede. Our friends had steak frites and really enjoyed them. The steaks were enormous and looked very juicy, perfectly medium. After a certain point in the night, a light show began, which was pretty cool. Definitely added to the ambiance if you were coming here for drinks in the late evening. We've already referred a bunch of friends here, and I am sure they'll have a similarly great evening out.

Rubicon is great and we're lucky to have it in Harrisburg. This was our first visit but it did not disappoint. The cocktail menu was very interesting with a wide variety of summer drinks. My wife and I both tried different ones and enjoyed them. The food was delicious and unique. An appetizer on special was truffles on bread slathered in magnificent butter. My wife had turtle soup and duck while I had a wonderful salad with sashimi tuna on top followed by a classic French dish, the coq au vin which was done to perfection. Can't wait to go back!

Clearly the new gem of Harrisburg. I'm so happy to see quality restaurants finally popping up in my hometown, and Rubicon is so good that Philly is going to be jealous. The cocktails are delicious and inventive, the menu is elegant, and the space is gorgeous. The prices are reasonable, too. I look forward to trying more of the menu, but right now I suggest the charcuterie plate and the faux pho. It's so absurdly decadent. Raw filet mignon is topped with a Franco-viet broth, bone marrow stuffed ossobuco, and foie gras. For $18. Are. You. Kidding me. PROTIP: Sit at the bar and have AJ guide you through the menu.

Fun French bistro with an excellent bar & tasty food. Sat at the bar for drinks & dinner and had a great time. Dylan worked the bar like a pro, gave fantastic pours and excellent recommendations (the man knows his libations). Ordered a salmon special for an appetizer (soaked in Anisette?) that we thought was a bit off the mark, but our dinners were amazing..Steak Frites for my bud (best fries ever, seriously) and a Wild Game Sheppard's Pie for me. Tasty and perfect all the way around. Place is sharp looking, soundtrack is mellow acid jazz / techno, wait staff is excellent, post 7pm there is free parking downtown, bathroom (unisex downstairs) is exceedingly clean, disco lights on the upstairs balcony seating that overlooks first floor, and location is fantastic. Nice night and a great meal. Well done Rubicon.

Definitely worth stopping in. Oysters are fresh. You should also try the cheese plate. I had the salmon and it was finished perfectly. I'll most certainly be back.

Every time I have come here the ambiance, service and menu selection is on point. The drinks are perfectly blended and chilled and innovative. There is always champagne flowing and everything has a french flare. The lighting is dim and seductive. There is a nice variation in customers and servers. Makes for a different experience each time I dine here. There are two levels so you can choose the wrap around bar or bar side seating or upstairs private circular seating area. There are large bay windows upstairs with seating IN them! So cool!! New hot spot! Come one, come all. Ask for Andrew the bartender. He will contribute to a rock'n night out! Rubicon, a chic french gorgeous spot to dine and drink up in Harrisburg.

For a combination of food and ambiance, it can't be beat locally. Very good selection of contemporary French dishes with traditional options as well. It's not the cheapest dining experience around but I feel you definitely get what you pay for. The oysters are the best I've had locally. Cheese dishes are also very good and noticeably a step above local high end restaurants. The bartenders know what they are doing and all wait staff are well versed on the menu. Parking, like other downtown destinations, can be an issue. So, plan accordingly.

Beautifully Brilliant on every level! Hands down the most beautiful restaurant, and most amazing food and drinks in all of the Harrisburg area! Dylan was the most amazing bartender I've ever had serve me! His creativity was on point with his martinis! My food couldn't have tasted anymore amazing!!! I felt like I was seated in the heart of LA! I commend the brilliant minds behind this work of art! *CHEERS*

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and fancy. The service is great as well. Everything is great except the price and food. Obviously people just don't go to a restaurant for chilling only; the main reason is good food and drink. For the price of it, the food and drink is not special at all. It feels like very simple American food with some extra cheese or caramelized onion. Regular beer cost over $10. The cocktails are nothing like mixed drink but straight alcohol with bitter taste. If you are ready to spend over $150 for a couple dinners with terrible food and drink, and fancy decoration, this is the place for you.

Rubicon was an awesome experience! I'm not a fan of French cuisine but the ambiance lured us in and I'm glad we gave Rubicon a shot. We ordered Moules, Le Coq Au Vin, and a sausage/sauerkraut dish that was absolutely amazing! Our server told us that our meat was prepared for seven hours and we could taste the effort. The service was great, everyone was down to earth and really nice. The atmosphere is really cool and I love the gallery space on the second floor although the photography was cliche. I could see something inspiring filling the space in the future! I will be back and I will recommend Rubicon to my friends and family.

Rubicon is beautiful & therefore, I give it two stars. Otherwise, given the price point & HORRIBLE service, I would only assign it a one star. My husband & I arrived just after 8:00 p.m. We ordered wine & one dozen oysters on the half shell to start. Our wine arrived promptly, but we waited for over 20 minutes for the oysters, which arrived as a half dozen. We immediately notified our server that we ordered a dozen. We waited another 15 minutes for the remaining six. This turned out to be the better part of our dining experience! Our entre was Chateaubriand, which cost $55.00 per person. Albeit, we ordered it medium rare, it arrived at the table medium well with half being well done - to the point of being gray! Did I mention that over 30 minutes lapsed between our last round of oysters & the Chateaubriand? This was our second trip to Rubicon. The service was extremely slow our first trip, but we attributed that to just having opened. We gave them the benefit of the doubt & unfortunately gave it another go. If overpriced food with completely unacceptable service is your thing, I highly recommend Rubicon. As for us....we will not return.

I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place. My family and I visited for dinner and loved the ambiance, food, and service. Would highly recommend the cheese plate and wild game pie. What a treat! Harrisburg needs more restaurants like this. Note: This restaurant should be tagged as a restaurant on Yelp but it only shows up as a cocktail bar.

5-Star experience, but with only one stop so far I'll stick with 4 stars and save the 5th for a future update. My wife and I stopped in after seeing Nightcrawler at the Midtown Cinema (Brilliant movie, go see it). We feasted on the banh mi and the burger, which were both reasonably priced for the portions. The banh mi was really, really good. The interplay between the just-right crispiness of the pork belly and the juiciness of the madrange ham made for a delicious sandwich. The lotus root chips were a little bit oversalted for my tastes, but I'm not a big chip person anyway. I was happy to hear our waiter/bartender say that they only prepare the burger "up to medium" when my wife ordered it. The medium rare patty came out perfectly cooked and the tomato chutney was both innovative and very tasty. The fry portion was also immense; you definitely won't leave hungry, but you might not be as healthy as when you came in. We enjoyed The Jane Avril, Le Coq-Tail, a Cosmo with a Pomegranate foam that our bartender (Andrew) was experimenting with, the Manina Martini, and an Anejo Manhattan with our dinner. I was VERY pleased with the Jane Avril, a bit luke warm on the Manina Martini, and then completely blown away by the Anejo Manhattan. Andrew was hesitant to make it after describing it to us because he was still putting some finishing touches on the recipe, but I'm quite glad I convinced him because it was perfect and exactly what I wanted. The setting is gorgeous, the service was stellar, the food is solid, and the drinks are fantastic. Definitely recommend!

A big fan of Mangia Qui and Suba, so I was really looking forward to eating here. First visit on Friday, November 21st 2014. I waited a little bit as they just opened this year, and I wanted all the kinks to be worked out. Overall, very good and flavorful food! We ordered three apps and one entree to share. The menu has a limited number of entrees which is understandable given the French bistro vibe they are going for. The bread special was excellent - mascarpone cheese with shaved black truffles. We also had the frog legs tempura and the beets with candied pecans. They both were very good. The steak frites entree was good, but the meat was a little too rare for my taste (asked for medium rare). Luckily I ate the sides and my wife ate the middle. For dessert we had the macaroons that apparently are imported from France - fantastic. Overall a good dining experience. Service was also good. Food prices are fair. I was a little surprised at the cost of single malts. I paid $56 for two Oban's, which at $79/bottle seemed steep to me. We will be back!

Came for cocktails late-ish on a Wednesday night. We called ahead just to be sure we wouldn't be going in minutes till close. They said we had about an hour and a half for drinks, but that the kitchen was closing soon. We didn't intend on ordering food, but once we had a drink, the bartender (Val) made it available to order food! SUPER great staff. We were one of 2 couples there and some of the workers were hanging out. Great group to talk with. Val, the bartender will make you feel super welcome as if you were at her own home! I left feeling like its a place I can go back and visit friends. Will have to go back for dinner soon and review again!

From the moment we went in.....WOW! Now we know why the wait was longer than anticipated. Always fans of restaurants next door. The room is spectacular. Food delicious as always. We drink wine but for cocktail enthusiasts you will not leave wanting. Great addition to harrisburg.

A friend and I both went to Rubicon to try it for our first time. Now, we already knew Qui Qui is a master and we both already love the food at Mangia Qui, so we were pretty sure this experience wouldn't disapoint....and we were both very pleased! They were able to accomodate us on a Saturday night without a reservation, and we sat at a lovely booth in the bar area. Service was perfect. We both shared several dishes: Salade Verticle, served on a 2 or 3-tier dish with an assortment of tastings. I particularly enjoyed the french green lentils and the quail eggs on this. That eve we were lucky enough to try the sweet and meaty Belon oysters! Heaven! We shared the Coq Au Vin entree and it was melt in your mouth devine! I can't wait to go here again, even if I should just stop by for a Croque Monsieur for happy hour. I wish I lived in the same neighborhood, I would be a fixture in this place! Fantastique!
