For Christmas I received a restaurant.com gift certificate for this place and decided to give lunch a try. First off I will say that whenever you use a Gift certificate from this website, you need to spend at least 35 dollars to save 25 dollars, and a 16% tip is already added to the amount. It Irks me when restaurants right off the top, give their service a 16% boost, especially if there is some kind of a problem that really would cause one to re-think how gratuitous they would like to be. This place is owned by the same people who run Miyakos' in Harrisburg, many of the rolls and dishes are the same on both menus, with only a slight variation. We came in for lunch yesterday. There was no one in the building at all, for it being 12:45, we took as being a bit strange. We were walked to the bench seating and handed the full menu as well as their Dim Sum sheet. We took advantage of having the coupon and ordered a fair amount of food. Shrimp Teriyaki, Beef Teriyaki, Kani salad, Spicy Tuna salad, 4-5 rolls. The server brought out the soup and salad that came with the meals and also the two other salad dishes. Everything was fresh and had a good crunch to it. The tempura crumbs were sharp and snapped when you bit into them. Everything first course was tasty. After that, the shrimp and beef dishes were introduced. The major problem of the meal was the beef. I don't know what kind of meat it was, but it was not expected or explainable. It had the consistency of liver and a taste that....well...hmm....It didn't taste like any beef I've ever had, lets put it that way. The shrimp dish had a good presentation and sweet flavor, although all it consisted of were fried shrimp in sauce on a bed of onions and broccoli, semi disappointing. Shortly after that, all the rolls came to the table. As expected they were spot on with Miyako flavor. Favorites include the Mango Shrimp and Kiwi Spicy Scallop Roll. The service was alright, my water was refilled and cokes were brought to the table at a decent interval, the check took a little long to get, but aside from that the experience, minus the beef, was alright, just a little high priced, even with the certificate for 25 bucks off.

I've been here a few times. Prices are about the same as other area sushi restaurants. Staff is fairly quick and pleasant. If you like fancy rolls the Mexican is very different and very good. I usually get the sushi appetizer and 1 fancy roll. Noodle dishes are good. I haven't tried alot of the Dim Sum. They are BYOB We have had 2 parties here for 30 people each and they did a great job. Put out a buffet with a variety of dishes and sushi so everyone was happy and had a really nice amount of food.

Always great service with super friendly staff even on Valentines Day! Have been there several times for dinner and lunch and food was always awesome. Will gladly go again and again. Recommend to anyone.

Excellent sushi, very polite waitress. They have buy 2 get one free special rolls on Wednesday and Sunday. I have 2 complaints. They will not prevent me from going back, but just a warning for others. They automatically charge an 18% tip, even for a party of 2. I did not see this advertised anywhere and actually gave a really good tip (30%) the evening we went. When I looked at my receipt the next morning to deduct from my checking, I noticed they had already factored the 18%. So essentially they got a 50% tip. I called to talk to them about it and they said they even charge the 18% tip for takeout. Also, when you buy coupons from restaurant.com , it does NOT say this on their website, but you CAN NOT use the restaurant.com gift certificates for certain items. I bought 5 certificates so this should be interesting... Like I said, the sushi there is really good but pay attention about the tip because they even said it's not written anywhere on their menu that they do that.

Used a Restaurant.com coupon last night for dinner at Mitaka: Food - I had a nice variety of offerings from Mitaka, so I feel like I can confidently say they do many things well. We started off with an order of green mussels, shrimp shumai, and chicken udon noodles. The menu suggested that you could only get noodles in soup form, but we asked and our waitress put in an order to have them stir fried instead. The shrimp shumai was excellent, it basically melts in the mouth and the flavors are great. The mussels were in a spicy sauce, both the mussels and the accompanying sauce were delicious. The noodles were spot on too. We perused the sushi menu while eating the rest of our food and decided on a Dynamite Roll and the Ocean Medley Roll. The food quality that we observed with our first round of selections definitely carried over to the sushi. Both rolls were fresh and wonderfully flavorful. The specialty rolls are all around $12-14, which seems to be pretty standard. We've had sushi at 4+ places in the Harrisburg area, and this was definitely our favorite so far. Service / Location - We arrived at around 8, so there was only one other table occupied for our dinner. I didn't look around too much, but there seemed to be ample seating for the type of restaurant that it is. The service was attentive and everything we ordered arrived at our table shortly after. Obviously not a difficult task with only two tables of patrons, but even so it was very quick. Will definitely be back!

Made a second visit to Mitaka with Dim Sum on my mind. I don't understand why they advertise Dim Sum on their sign out front but don't have it on the regular menu. Anyway make sure to ask for the Dim Sum menu, they have quite a few choices. I'm not an expert but the turnip cake and phoenix claw (chicken feet) we got were both very tasty. I did order the house dumplings but they never came, no big deal bc after the TNT roll and Ocean Medley Roll we were stuffed anyhow. Both rolls were excellent. I was surprised at how packed the place was, I mean every table was full so they must be doing something right! Cool place, I definitely recommend trying both the Dim Sum and sushi. Oh and the red bean tempura ice cream was also delish!

Visited today for the first time, it is located in what was the old Pho Pasteur building, on south 29th street. The interior of the restaurant was very nice & upscale, they had a large modern sushi bar. Plates, dishes & silverware were good also. Ordered a few things from the menu, 3 rolls for 11.95, a large yaki udon seafood soup (8.00) and a chicken bento box 8.00 . I had originally asked for breaded pork, which it had on the menu, but I was told it wasnt available yet, kind of dissappointed me. The food came eventually, there were a few other groups of people, three families of 3 or 4 people, and another couple. The head owner-lady offered us a highchair for our daughter, and was very polite, taking the time to talk to us when the meal was over. She explained that Miyako, Mitaka, Mt Fuji and York (shema?) are all related branches. Prices are kind of standard, a little bit more expensive that I've seen elsewhere, I'd say 120% of other locations. special rolls ranging from 4.99 to 11.95. the sushi & bentobox was just OK, the soup was good. we also ordered dim sum platter (8.50), which my wife & her mother liked.

Just ordered take out, friendly and understandable phone service;also FYI it was ready within the half hour. I loved every roll, scorpion was outta this city, but even the simple rolls like red roof are so good. I come here often and like seeing the small little girl that runs around. It's good to know she'll have a great collage education. With that being said, does Fuji-do have such a spectacular menu of hand rolls like the 40+ Mikita offers? Average price a roll is 12 But $$ saved with BYBO. Haay.

I dig Mitaka. The sushi is comprable to other area sushi restaurants. Good but not stellar. If you want something amazing try the Dim Sum. I had never had Dim Sum before but went with a few friends to try it out. There is a seperate Dim Sum menu and it has a lot of selections on it. I'm not a huge meat eater but did enjoy the shrimp dumplings and tried the pork skin which even as someone who doesn't do much meat I found very good. The service is fairly quick and friendly, although speed depends on number of tables in the restaurant with you. Try this place out though. It's really different then anything else I know of in the Burg and worth a try!

The food and service at Mitaka were wonderful, definitely recommended. BYOB. The decor was really nice, darker lighting, very modern and very clean (I couldn't believe it was the same place as Pho Pasteur). Husband came with the intent on trying as much dim sum as possible, and we definitely did that. We ordered everything at once and I noticed that the waiter brought out everything in a nice timely order starting with the most mild items progressing to more stronger flavors. We started out with a sashimi appetizer, fish tasted fresh... although I am definitely not an expert-I always enjoy sushi no matter what. Next, my sushi order came out (softshell crab, California with eel, and Shrimp with lettuce... yum!). A few minutes after the sushi arrived, we received the first two dim sum items, shrimp with scallions and their house roll (husband said it tasted like chicken with peanuts?). The shrimp dumpling was very good, light, fresh, and herb-y tasting. Husband said the house dumpling was excellent too. Next we received two steamed pork buns, husband loved these... one of his favorite items of the night. I don't eat pork, so I'll take his word for it. A few more dumplings later, and we received my favorite part of the meal, hamachi kama (yellow tail collar) grilled. Delicious! Please try this next time (they also offer it at Miyako's downtown)...just leave one for me. The meat, accompanied by the crispy charred skin, is wonderfully rich and flavorful, enhanced even more by the necessary act of sucking the remaining meat off the bone. To finish off the meal, we received our last dim sum item, baked pork buns. I cannot vouch for the flavor, but they definitely looked delicious with their shiny brown exterior. Dessert was definitely not necessary! There was a wide variety of items on their dim sum menu (spring rolls, aged tofu, etc, even a vegetable dim sum sampler). I will definitely be coming back to try more!

I saw this place when it was under construction and have been waiting impatiently for it to open. Well, I was driving by today and viola! It was open. I went in like a flash. First impressions, the building exterior is very nice. Looks upscale. Walked into the vestibule, and then a second set up doors. I like that because you don't get a cold or hot blast into the restaurant when the weather is extreme outside. The dining are is very nice. It has a very modern and sophisticated Japanese look. I was very impressed. I had the three roll sushi lunch special with Miso soup (you have a choice of soup or salad). I really enjoyed the sushi. I had Spicy Salmon, Eel Cucumber, and Crab Cucumber rolls. The prices are a bit higher than I'd like for lunch, but for the atmosphere, I'd say it's in line. The three roll lunch special was $11.95 plus hot tea of $1.00. Bento boxes (which sorely tempted me today) range drom $9.95 to $11.95 depending on the options. Service was fast (and since they are newly opened , there were a lot of staff milling about the sushi bar). The only complaint I had, was that the waiter and waitress who took care of me had very thick accents and I had difficulty understanding them... I was tired from taking a monster certification test, so I may have been more slow witted than normal too, but that won't keep me from going back again. Overall a very nice place (good date place too, I'd say). I recommend it, and look forward to seeing other Yelpers there!

Sushi was good, dim sum was ok. For PA, the dim sum is worth trying if you've never had it. Go to a Chinatown in a larger city for the real deal on dim sum. It's BYOB and worth a visit. Nice atmoshere, just off the beaten path. Great for large groups.

The sushi here was below average and the only reason I went here was because I had a certificate from restaurant.com . If I didn't, I would completely steer clear of this restaurant. I've been here twice and I only tried sushi which didn't impress me. So, I'm not keen on going back here to try the other items on their menu.

Three diners: House salad- very good Kani Salad- obscene, to die for (Shredded krab with spicy mayo & roe) Vegetable Tempura- excellent, very light, not greasy at all Vegetable Maki Combo- very good Chicken Katsu Don- excellent Fried Vegetable Dumplings- very good Shrimp & Chive Fried Dumplings- excellent Sticky rice (banana leaf)- very good Based on foodie standards, not "we're in Harrisburg" standards. Bill without tip was $65.00. Service was good, a bit disjointed at times with multiple servers. (I do not rate on service only food quality. Service has to be abysmal for me to care.) Their menu needs a few additions to round out the dim sum menu. Obligates not on the menu: cold sesame noodles, chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and baby bok choy with garlic sauce. Definitely one of the very best asian meals I've had in this area. I really hope people go and they do well. By San Fran Chinatown standards it would be very good, not excellent. For this area, outstanding.

I've been here a few times recently, and overall, YUM. I love mt. fuji, and was pleased to see this place so close to home! The girls working there were super sweet, and my sushi was nearly perfect every time. I'm going to keep this review short because of time constraints, but...yay! I'm happy this place is here and I wish them the best of luck.

This place is near the Harrisburg Mall. It's nicely decorated. We were there for Dim Sum (no push carts). Most people love shui mai pork, but they only offer shrimp, which tasted like imitation seafood. After ordering a few dim sum items which were not that good, we ordered the dragon rolls, which were not that great either. The waitress barely speaks English. If you want to try the place with min. cost, get a restaurant.com certificate (buy the certificate when they are 80% off).

Dim sum was great - I had the roast pork bun (awesome) and one that had rice/chicken/egg in a leaf (also great). My friend got the sushi which seemed pretty standard. The sashimi was really thick slices of fish which was surprisingly great.

The first thing you see when you walk in is a very clean and tidy restaurant, nice decor and a warm atmosphere, one of the nicest sushi bars decor wise in the area and its kind of place you go for a date. Food wise lunch was 3 rolls for 11.95, little pricier than other sushi places but only by a dollar or two. I would say that the sushi was average, nice tight rolls, bit fatty on the salmon and the spicy ones aren't that spicy... for my liking at least. I mean it was still a very nice meal but for sushi cravings I might pass it up. But we are talking about DIM SUM here! Great evening friends and I had for dim sum, everything came out hot, the staff was so nice and over all pretty cheap seeing its BYOB. This is a great place to go out with some friends. The hot entrees were very nice as well, serving up a nice katsu and you can't go wrong with a seaweed salad.

For Sushi in Central Pa, this place is great. Food was excellent and presentation was outstanding. The service was good - prompt and polite. The decor isn't anything special, but the restaurant was very clean. I think the reason it was empty was because it has a poor location. I would definitely go again though.

We were so excited to find a DimSum restaurant close to home. We usually have to travel so far for DimSum; Columbia, MD, Philly, NYC, etc. A few weeks ago we went and ordered DimSum from a menu. It was brought out at a nice pace and everything was delicious. Compared nicely with other DimSum we've had. When we were leaving we thanked our server and told him we'd be back soon. He told us that starting mid February they would be starting cart service. This is a traditional way to serve DimSum. We were anxious to come back and try the new cart service. Today was the day. If Caroline is reading this; please spend some time training your staff on cart service. Maybe a 'field-trip' to Philly for DimSum is a good idea. We were there for 2 hours and didn't really get all we wanted to eat, we just quit because we were tired of waiting. the DimSum is delicious, the cart service not so good. I suggest everyone that wants to try it, ask for the pink menu and order DimSum that way. It's way more efficient.

Copied over from my review on TripAdvisor Fantastic Food (Dim Sum and Sushi), Reasonable Prices, Don't Hesitate to Visit Dined here twice now for brunch and both times were with different family that I consider to be picky eaters - no one has left disappointed. The food here is simply great - fresh, well prepared, nice presentation, and most importantly tasty. The dim sum offerings are FANTASTIC - we tried numerous dishes and honestly there wasn't anything that we didn't like. Our favorites: shrimp dumplings, spicy kani bowl, stuffed eggplant, and pork buns. And by the way, this is the only restaurant I know of in the area that offers dim sum and thank God it's good at that :-). Their sushi offerings were also very good and offer quality on par with the best places in the area. However, avoid the hibachi dinners which were the only thing we ate that was disappointing if not bad. To be honest, we were hesitant to come here because while reviews were good, there weren't very many of them and these guys don't exactly advertise. Suffice to say, we are happy we took the jump to come and highly recommend others to visit. Don't be fooled when you come in given they aren't exactly a busy restaurant which is a shame - they definitely deserve more business but perhaps the location and lack of advertising is hurting them.

I decided to swing by here since it is only about 5 minutes from our house and pick up some take out. They have dim sum advertised on the outside, so I asked what they offer and it was a small selection. I was able to get yakitori, spring rolls and aged tofu though and all were quite good. I ordered a couple of rolls off the ala carte menu including hamachi which was good, the total for 5 menu choices was less than 28 dollars and it satisfied both of us so I can't complain, the food was fresh tasting and the teriyaki sauce was good. I got a nice kick out of the wasabi which cleared my sinuses. I recommend them if you are in the area, the service was friendly and the interior has a nice ambience.

The more I read other reviews, the more I'm convinced most people have no concept of space or size. "Mitaka is small." Really? You call 35 tables and a sushi bar small? Count people. Granted I haven't been to the Great Sushi Hall of Osaka that can fit the space shuttle (RIP). Nor I have I been to Tokyos's Godzilla Steak and Sushidome. But I've also been to countless western Sushi Bars where it's you and 12 people who are going to be your best friends because they're sitting on your lap. Mitaka has plenty of room. Quality was good. The scallop maki was fileted instead of circular, which is different. Service was prompt. The price was a little on the high side. Another reviewer said 120% of "usual" and I agree. For my next trick I will now teach yelpers the power of perspective and relativity.

They have great sushi. Great variety. Wednesday special is buy two get one. The tea is never ever hot and if you have a large party the staff is overwhelmed.

Before I moved out of Harrisburg I used to eat here often. Now, I just make sure to stop by and grab a bento box when I visit. The staff is super polite and the place is super clean. The food is great and the music is so relaxing. Great place to take a date or have a business meeting. Just make sure to make reservations for that date or business meeting. It does get full sometimes during the evening hours. Try it once and you'll at least like it, even if you think your picky (I know because I'm).

We have always enjoyed the food here, it is good, but last night we were mislead and overcharged. We had a Restaurant.com coupon/certificate for $25 off and they only let us use about a dollar of it due to another promotion they had going. We paid way more for our dinner than expected and they were unapologetic and did not offer to make things right. On top of all that the service was horrible, took over two hours to get in an out of a sushi dinner - that's BONKERS!
