Food good and prices excellent. Expect slower service from old fashioned waitresses. Owner doesn't seem to help them out

Classic diner excellence. Friendly service that kept the coffee coming. Had the rope sausage, it's a 1/2 lb. link of the best breakfast sausage I have ever had. The meat is finely ground, so you won't find any chunks of fat in the link. Delicious and filling for a great price. The home fries were sliced thin and crispy, as they should be, and my kids loved the pancakes. You won't be disappointed.

Yup, everything about this place is small (except the plates). Limited menu, but the lowest prices in town. You can get a meal for two for around $20 total. Think about that -- that's hard to do even at a fast food chain. This is the authentic, old-time diner experience (and check out the metal-flake-teal-colored booths... nice!) I've had several breakfasts and dinners here, all have been solid. Breakfasts are just as good as what you'd get at any other diner, but a dollar or two cheaper. Sandwich platters are typical, deli-style stacks, also solid. We've also had the daily special for dinner a couple of times -- fried fish platter, etc. -- and that's always been good too. Typical side-dish vegetables for a diner, though salads, as you might expect, are on the plain side (iceberg lettuce, etc.). The fries and onion rings, though, are good. The only thing I can't recommend is the steak... ordered it once, and it was a cheap cut slightly overdone. Not terrible, but if you want a really good steak, go to a steakhouse. There are standard ice creams for dessert, too. And yes, the back of the menu offers a couple of Indian appetizers, including samosas. Which diner do you know that can say that? Cheap, with good food, and staff you can actually have a conversation with... most days, what more do you need?

Ok. I surprised. I was not expecting much but this place was not bad at all and the price is perfect. The food was out fast and plentiful. The pancakes I ordered were done perfectly. Very light and fluffy. This place has a unique atmosphere. Please look past the exterior and give it a chance. You will be happy you did.

I don't know these people are smoking, but this place smells like my grandmas house, and the food isn't any better. Hash browns were a heap of soggy doggy doo. Bacon was petrified wood; hard, reheated. Best part was the rye bread, that they charged an extra 20 cents for, or an extra 10 cents a slice. Oh, and there's cat stickers all over the bathrooms. Next time I'll get a microwaveable breakfast burrito.

Lunched there for the 1st time today and I will certainly be going back! I got there around 1:30pm and must have missed the main lunch crowd because I've driven by many times and seen the dining room full. I ordered from the breakfast menu and had a delicious 3 egg bacon & cheese omelettte, which was generous with both the bacon and cheese. I asked for the homefries to be crispy and they were spot on! Delicious! With rye toast and coffee it was $7.48. The waitress was very friendly and she kept my coffee cup full.

Very unfriendly service! We left after being ignored and/or pushed around by servers. Didn't even get to try their sausage! Also, we were told we had a reservation and when we arrived (on time) they had filled our table. Unacceptable!

This is a Saturday morning destination for my friends and I, who constantly make the trek from Hershey. The prices and service are spectacular and are only enhanced by the great atmosphere of the mid-century train-car style diner. Keep in mind this place is CASH ONLY!

Tiny, blink and you'll miss it diner. Maybe a dozen counter seats and an equal number of booths/tables. I had the bacon and cheese omelette, hash browns w/ onions and whole wheat toast. Everything was delicious and brought out in no more than 4 minutes from when I ordered. Coffee was hot and cup refilled without prompting. Friendly service. Slight deduction for cash only and a pretty limited breakfast menu.

Great service and solid pancakes, home fries and eggs. Our coffee was never let to dip below an inch from the rim! Cozy and comfy, can't miss.

Tiny spot good for breakfast and lunch. Wish it was open for dinner. Rope sausage is famous here. This place is listed online as one if the best diners in the country. Clean and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Huge portions for pancakes and stuff.

At the very best this place is two stars. I came here because of these reviews, a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews so I figured it had to be good, but it was pretty far from "good". At best it was just ok, and the palce itself was pretty much a dump. I'm from Philadelphia so maybe I'm used to different food, but the omellette was a 2/5 at best, the coffee was not good at all, and the homefries were soggy. If this is a "good" diner in Harrisburg, then that town needs better diners.

Nice little diner with a friendly staff. Stopped in for breakfast, and have no complaints. It is cash only however.

This is a STELLAR little diner. The booths and counter stools are all aglitter in gold and deep teal sparkly vinyl. You are welcomed as cheerily as sunshine as you enter. Boon companion JV and I checked out the breakfast menu. We both opted for The Rope- two eggs, toast, grits or potatoes and a half-pound serving of sausage- the 'rope' for which the breakfast is named. The details: potatoes were thinly sliced home fries, browned to perfection. We asked for onions, which were also thinly sliced and tastily caramelized. These are perfect potatoes- tender inside, crisp outside.Grits were also nicely done- not watery, not gluey- perfectly fluffy, hot and buttery. Eggs done just right. Sausage grilled to a mahogany brown sheen, and served with horseradish on the side- the perfect condiment to bring out all of the nearly sweet. sagey goodness. Hot delicious coffee topped up at every opportunity. I plan to be a regular.
