I don't know why this place has gotten so many bad reviews. It's been my local go-to Chinese restaurant since I discovered it from some Harleysville locals (employees from Harleysville Insurance) back in 1999. Since then, I've never been able to find their version of pork fried rice anywhere - San Francisco, Boston, LA, NY - I've tried Chinatown restaurants in all of these places (I now live in NY and have lived in California and Boston from 1999 - 2012) and nothing comes close. I like this version of American Chinese, the food always seems made to order, they accommodate my special requests, and the owners are really polite and nice. The restaurant is CLEAN and spotless. Whenever I come to the area for Christmas breaks or to visit family I always make a point to get my Chinese food fix here and it never disappoints. My parents used to bring me some Country Garden when they picked me up from the airport. I was there just this past Saturday and the service was outstanding. Maybe some of the negative reviewers have not had a lot of experience with different restaurants all over the country but I have tried so many Chinese places in NY and LA and this is one of the best.

We use to go here for general tso's chicken, sesame chicken, and other but as of 1/10/13 we no longer do. The food has changed for the worse. Sauce is different and bland, chicken is just not what it used to be, and the proportions seem smaller.

Country Garden Chinese is good by me. I get the chef John's chicken and ask for it super spicy. I'm satisfied each time with this dish. Unlike many other fried chicken dishes at Chinese restaurants, the meat isn't cut into strange, otherworldly chunks with "good parts" and "squishy parts." Chef John's chicken is cut into small, popcorn chicken-ish pieces and lightly breaded with a spicy/sweet glaze that has a good garlicky flavor. As a lunch option, it is enough to fill you up but not make you feel weighed down.

I have lived in the area for more than 20 years and this is my fave chinese restaurant. It's the only place my kids will eat chinese from in the area. The best wonton soup and general tsao chicken. Ask for it with white meat...delish! Lunch is a real treat! Comes with soup and two little tasty chicken pockets...don't know if that's the name of them but they are yummy!!

The only positive I can think of its the least expensive Chinese restaurant in the Harleysville area. I Haven't had dinner in the restaurant since they changed ownership 15 years ago. I can't tell you why occasionally I even get takeout.

Country Garden has always provided good, affordable American style Chinese for years now. If you haven't gone for lunch, you are missing out on the best bang-for-your-buck lunch in Harleysville. A couple can do lunch with tip for around $15 bucks. Dinner can get a little more pricey but still very affordable. When ever I am back in town, it's always a place I love to go.

Best Szechuan beef ever in my life( 50 yrs) crispy and sweet , no one else does it like this!! My husband likes the wonton soup here because the noodles are thick, best pork egg foo young any where!! Also we both love the sesame chicken! We (about 30 of us) have been eating there for over 20 yrs, and have been all over the country, we think the family who runs it are sweet hearts and have watched their kids grow up and start to take their part in the summer.

This place has the best general tsos chicken ever!!! They're cut into bite sizes and are stir fried with a sweet and mild sauce. Very fair prices and have great service. Will come again, and do recommend.

HORRIBLE LUNCH! I do not eat meat and they refused to substitute anything for me! They told me in order to do so I would have to order from the dinner menu which I was handed. Then the waiter told me that I still had to pay extra for the substitution! Who the hell ever heard of chicken fried rice anyway??!! GROSS! They should just serve basic fried rice then everyone is happy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
