Watch your step. Entry and wood floors are slippery. I had high hopes this wasn't another run of the mill spots like Cozumel and patron. Verdict is still out. The decor is nice. We liked the metal sculptures. As I said watch the floors. If they don't fix this fast someone is going to take a bad fall. YA could have done something a bit classier than paint an old cheap drop ceiling, after all the work put in. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. Salsa is on the mild side and can't figure out if the chips are fresh or bagged. I had the Carne Asada which was done as I ordered but could have used bit more seasoning. It came with a black bean chorizo chili who's flavor was fantastic. Unfortunately the black Beans where a bit crunchy. Couldn't decide if the fresh corn tortillas where over done or stale they crumbled. My wife loved the fish tacos. Fish isn't deep fried. Price is very reasonable. Service is adequate, although the bartenders could stop chatting and help out the waitress when they see a beer getting warm and the table is 5 feet away. We will be back if only for the margaritas, they are the best in the area. Seriously fix the ice rink floors before you get sued.

Just returned from my first visit to this restaurant and might be my last. Very cute Mexican decor. Got seated and next to our table was one that had not been cleared and wasn't thru most of our evening. That can be a red flag as they were not busy. Margaritas were very good as was the salsa. We ordered dinner and the "new" waiter did not write any thing down. I've not seen that work yet and it didn't tonight. My order was wrong as was our guest's. I ordered tortilla soup and it was obviously forgotten till I asked. Came out after my meal was half eaten. I was full and took it home. Service was not good. Even though I had the shrimp tacos that I didn't order, they were good but none of our tacos came with sauce, Pico de gallo, something, anything. Wait staff everywhere. ........you do not impress me by not writing food orders down, especially when you get it wrong! Just write it and get it right the first time. Maybe we hit it on an off night.

La Paz is not your typical chain Mexican restaurant. It recently opened and replaces the old Corner Bar, Legends and another restaurant. The entire inside has been redecorated and is very cozy and warm. The menu is relatively small and goes beyond the typical enchilada and burritos, although they are on the menu too. Our party had the fresh guacamole as an appetizer, and for entrees the fish taco, beef short ribs with mole sauce, and chipotle braised pork shank. The guacamole was superb. Nicely seasoned and chunky. All 3 entrees were well prepared. The meat was remarkably tender with both the pork and short ribs and nicely flavored. The fish tacos were very good, but probably would have enjoyed more in the summer since the cold toppings overwhelmed the warmth of the fish. The portions are definitely large. The margaritas were great. Even though it had been open only a few weeks, there was a nice crowd of people who all seemed to be enjoying their dinners. This is definitely worth a return visit.

Better than any other Mexican Restaurant in town. The food and atmosphere were amazing. The only thing I would say is that my food was lacking seasoning. With that said, I will definitely be back!

Great cocktails! Yummy margaritas! They use freshly squeezed juices. Cute little place and it's not like a chain type. Good food and very friendly staff!

Mole was fantastic. Salsa was fresh and layers of flavors throughout. Great mint and just enough sweet in the Mojito. The beans had just enough kick. Super meal and venue.

Eastern Time Zone Mexican food is suspicious to westerners by nature, especially in a small town, but La Paz does a surprisingly good job. First, I'll get the unpleasant part out of the way-- service here leaves a lot to be desired. On the only time I've dined in, it took us several requests to get a glass of water, and it was overall very slow. We did at least get our chips and salsa quickly; when I texted a friend that, she was shocked, because they didn't get any for the first hour of their visit. I tried to get takeout on Cinco de Mayo and they told me they were "too busy," which seemed odd (and contrary to reports from other Yelpers on that day). Maybe they're just understaffed, but they need to get it together. That said, I've actually been really impressed with La Paz otherwise! The interior is nice enough, and they have a pretty good patio in the back, with shade and angled away from Main Street to reduce road noise. The food has been good so far too. To date, friends and I have tried: --chips and salsa: okay, the salsa tastes a lot like the one from Sam's Club, but it's tasty, and the chips seemed fresh. --queso blanco: this was delicious-- I'd definitely recommend it. --carnitas: my friend said the pork was great, but the sauce was a bit one-note. --enchiladas suizas: a craving for enchiladas is actually what brought me to La Paz in the first place, and they were great! The sauce could be a little spicier, but has great flavor. --black beans: this gets a separate line because although it's just a side dish, these are really some of the best I've had. --chile relleno: my husband had this and really liked it. The portion was huge and justified the price. --short ribs with mole: really good mole sauce-- nice and complex, without one overwhelming flavor like can happen sometimes. The short ribs were wonderful. There's not great Mexican options in Greensburg, unless you count Chipotle, so I'm sure I'll give La Paz a couple of more chances. They have some issues but the food is good, so I can see them earning 4 stars in the future.

The margarita couldn't be better!! Great taste, cute presentation, awesome price and high quality! The homemade salsa and nice warm chips were a great start to the dinner. Then we had a yummy cheese quesadilla and chicken taco salad for dinner along with chicken tacos. Everything was great and the prices are very friendly. It's new in town so stop and give it a try !! Yum, can't wait to go back !! On yelp, it says they're closed on Wednesday's, but that is not true. I'm pretty sure they're open every day.....

La Paz is alright. The bar is really good. My margarita was well balanced and fairly priced. The Mexican beer selection was great. The food was bland. I could tell it was well prepared, it was diappointing it was so bland. The steak fajiitas come out perfectly cooked. The tacos used curd cheese rather than shredded cheese. Everything was properly cooked and looked appetizing, but the flavor wasn't there.

Cinco de mayo.... We asked if there was patio seating, hostess said"it'll be about a 20 min wait" so we took a look for ourselves... More than half the patio was open. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to clear a dirty table and even ask us if we needed menus. Way under staffed! Bartenders acted like it was their first day bar tending. Horrible service left before our food came.

Very impressed, and very pleasant - will go back. We rarely go out, and when we do, we usually regret it - it just doesn't seem to be worth the time and money. But La Paz gave us something different. Located in an anonymous corner in Greensburg (not where you'd expect a good restaurant, much less a Mexican one), the place is tastefully decorated. We arrive at lunch time on Saturday, and without only one server/bartender, the service is nice, reasonably quick, and courteous. The chips and salsa (freshly made!) are ample while we wait for the food. The food was very good (we ordered mostly appetizers), was really huge in portions (even the Kids Meal), and we left satisfied without being overwhelmed by either the quantity or the grease (which happens in many places). Overall, it is just very pleasant ... and it's the first place we've tried in this Westmoreland area where we all said right away - let's go back.

Salsa was awesome, margaritas were bomb... And I do realize it's Cinco de Mayo... But a 45 min wait for a bill... After asking for it 4 separate times is ridiculous. Service was terrible the entire night. The peeps sitting next to us said that this was their third time there.. And it's the same every time. This place was so cute and nice but come on... Get with it. Greensburg needs a great Mexican place... This COULD be it!!!!

Great service and great food. Our margaritas were nice and strong, not watered down at all. The food was so good but super spicy (although she warned us about that). Great atmosphere, nice and quiet at least when we went. Just all around great experience and we are definitely coming back!

We tried again and it seems nothing has changed. You enter the restaurant facing the bathroom and there is no one there to greet you. Eventually a severely panicked man reluctantly took our name and said it would be about 25 minutes. There were three visibly empty tables at that time. 25 minutes is a perfectly respectable wait time but in the 10 minutes we uncomfortably waited in the bathroom hallway nothing really happened. I saw no food come out of the kitchen I couldn't smell any food and I believe I witnessed a discussion about starting to turn people away. Strike two... we won't try again.

I was a little worried from reading previous reviews about service, but for a Saturday lunch, my party never had a drink glass go empty. The fresh chips and salsa served first was a nice touch, and the fresh cilantro in the salsa was delicious! Our biggest highlight was the appetizer Sopitos Miguel, which hit all the right notes for all of us. The guacamole, enchiladas, and tres leches cake were all good, too. The meal was also pretty nicely priced for the amount that we ordered. I gave this four stars instead of five because our table really wanted the made-to-order guacamole a little bit on the mild side and were told that the kitchen only makes it one way. When it did arrive it was pretty perfect for our taste level, but it did strike us as odd that an item made fresh wouldn't have a customizable spice level. Overall though, I'd definitely return and try more of the dishes.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
