I ordered the chicken pad Thai. Not my favorite. It was hard to eat with chopsticks because it was clumped up together like a big mush ball. Flavorless. Two stars for good serving sizes though.

We get takeout from here every so often. The sushi is really good --- and trust us when we say- we know our sushi!!! Their website isn't updated, so if its your first time ordering, make sure you go in and grab their special rolls menu. Everyone who works there is very nice and their prices are good. We just tried the Exton roll with the banana tempura on top (after reading a prior review)... my husband ate it with his eyes closed... it's that good!

Just decided to add one more notch on my belt when it comes to local sushi places. This place is that notch. The look of this place almost reminded me of a diner that was remodeled into a sushi restaurant. Not a great look to me. But I ordered a maki combo which came out promptly, and I enjoyed the taste. Freshness is not an issue. I do however believe that the size of the rolls is a bit smaller compared to what I can get elsewhere. Not a bad place. But not memorable either. It's strictly middle of the road in my eyes.

    Z. WEI is remarkably consistent. Their staff is always friendly and courteous. The food, especially the sushi, is always top-notch. The rolls are not the trendy fusion rolls that so many places are designing. Rather, they are classic, fresh, and we'll executed. Also, very reasonably priced.... and when you eat as much sushi as I do, that's pretty important!

I eat here a lot. I swear their dine in food tastes better than the takeout! It is not the authentic food you'd get in Chinatown in Philly for instance, but it is still decent. I order house fried rice because it is cheap, and my favorites: Hunan beef, Mongolian beef, Crab Rangoon, Spicy tuna roll, Eel roll and the special Mango roll they have on occasion. Their sushi is out of this world! Their special rolls are deadly good. That being said I think the roll sizes could be bigger for the price they charge. But like I said, their rolls are delish which makes up for the price. They do have the authentic menu, which offers food not found in the regular menu. I ordered things not on the menu a few times and they definitely accommodated that. Bottom line: dine in, ask for the authentic menu, and for sure - try their sushi!

    Z. Wei is a great spot for reasonably priced sushi. I have been here four times and never had a problem. They always provide excellent wanton crisps when you arrive and this fantastic rice wrapped ice cream with orange slices before leaving. I always get sushi when I go but my fiance had Pad Thai last time and loved it.

I've ordered from this place in the past and it's pretty good overall , haven't had a bad experience yet.

Cannot complain about the service, the sushi itself is mediocre. I've definitely better in bigger cities. However for the area this place has good food for good prices. Definitely where I go to get my sushi fix! I usually order take out and they always have the food ready for me.

I'm really puzzled as to why this has such a high rating. While in the area today, I stopped by since I was craving chinese. I ordered their lunch special of chicken and brocolli steamed with egg drop soup and fried rice. Surprise surprise, they don't do fried rice! What chinese estaurant doesn't offer fried rice? I waited for my food, only took 5-10 minutes, and then left. When I was drinking the soup, I found myself unable to finish it. As much as I tried, I could not drink the soup because it made me nauseous. So its an okay place, as long as you like white rice and don't drink the egg drop soup!

I got takeout so can only comment on the food quality - which was pretty average sushi, in my opinion. Not amazing, not bad. Prices were good and the service was fast.

One of my local favorites. The feng shui must be perfect because I can eat here with my four young boys and everyone behaves perfectly. I love their Chirashi and their lunch specials never fail to please. The sushi is always fresh and delightful. The menu is varied enough that anyone can find a meal to suit their tastes. You have to give this one a try!

Nothing out of the ordinary here, except the BYOB aspect. This restaurant is very middle of the road, but bringing your own drinks help! The staff is always friendly.

My wife and I love this place. I am able to get sushi and she can get her Chinese favorites. I recommend this place, priced very fair and they have yet to disappoint.

This was our first time here and we found it to be pretty good. We started with the shrimp shumai which wasn't good so we were nervous for our entrees. We also had the egg drop soup and sweet and sour soup and we enjoyed both. I ordered Shrimp with Red Curry and asked to have broccoli and green beans added. It was delicious! My husband had a stir fry chicken with peppers and it was also very good and spicy. The environment was comfortable and the staff were very attentive.

Just had lunch here today. Another great experience. Food is good. Wife & I had some sushi rolls and the thai green curry w/ shrimp to share. It did take a little long for the green curry to arrive, but worth the wait as the shrimp was cooked to perfection. We are not regulars, but it is our 3rd time within the last year and never had a bad experience.

I've always stood by the fact that Chinese restaurants are much better when you go with a Chinese person. Cashew chicken, beef and broccoli, and kung pao shrimp are old hat for most of us. It's that mysterious menu that's half (or all) Chinese characters where the true treasures lie. There are no fake generals or mythical creatures on this menu. "Chicken with black bean sauce" is exactly what you're going to get. Unfortunately, none of the choices sound exactly appetizing. Which is why I was lucky my co-worker could get our waiter to spill his favorite dish: "Shredded pork with dried bean curd". While the name is brutally honest, what we got was a nice mixed dish of pork strips and tofu strips with some vegetables. I also picked something from the "American" menu, the "Pepper Steak". Nothing too special here. Our appetizer was Szechuan dumplings, which was not nearly as spicy as we had hoped. The restaurant is nice and large, and service was pretty good, but it looked painfully empty (ratio of 3 employees to each customer, it seemed). Not a bad spot by any means, but nothing out of the ordinary either.

Atmosphere- Cute, very quiet. I immediately worried it might not have good food because no one was in there. Food- I had a shrimp roll (yum), the chicken and corn soup (not what I was expecting, but very yummy) and several rolls. The sushi, as other reviewers have noted, is on par with much more expensive restaurants, so perhaps the lack of customers is a good thing :). Price- For a sushi restaurant, it was cheaper than most. Overall- Good food, very nice service, and great location. I loved it!

Total run of the mill and uninspired cuisine. Standard fare that tasted ok, was served hot, and promptly. Fairly good sushi selection but there are much better places in West Chester for sushi. The restaurant was clean and the service competent and pleasant. Sushi menu did not list cooked versus raw items which it should but it was not hard to decipher. Not sure why some gave this 4 or 5 stars. Outside of some first rate Asian restaurants in New York or San Francisco I don't think this place rates more than a 2 or 3 star rating.

You'd probably expect nothing more than your typical Japanese food here.. But this place has exceeded my expectations many times. The sushi is very fresh and always delicious and they have a variety of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai food. Everything is very good

Love this place. We make sure that when ever we are in Exton we stop for dinner. Its the type of place that you would never expect to have great food since its usually very quiet. I don't eat Sushi but my Girlfriend does, she says that the sushi is actually better that the more expensive Sushi restaurant teikoku. Over all its a quiet place with great food and service. A must try for any one looking for Asian Cuisine an great Sushi Bar.

Since moving to the area 3 years ago, I've been here a handful of times for various occasions--a quick, decent lunch, to entertain my visiting Chinese mother who cannot get half-decent Chinese food in our hometown, and to celebrate events such as moving, or another finished semester at school. The menu ranges from authentic Chinese which is really good if you know what to order (I mostly leave that to Mom but I am learning), to Americanized Chinese, which is still good, but nothing special. I would say Han Dynasty down the road is better in terms of their authentic dishes, but Z.Wei's menu has more diversity if not everyone in your party is into that sort of thing. They have great lunch specials, such as their bento boxes which I tend to order for a quick meal between running errands out on the town, which you can get for under $10 with a drink as well. (Note: the dinner bento box is about 2x the price of the lunch portion, but you get to choose two entrees instead of one. Whichever you order, it's always a fair portion for the price.) The sushi is pretty good, though I've had better elsewhere, and reasonably priced, though with modest portions. The rolls aren't huge, but neither are they a ripoff. They're perfect for my appetite. The service is always super quick and gracious, and I've had nothing to complain about since I've been going there. Unless you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, it seems dead, but don't let that fool you because overall, it's a great place to eat. I'd recommend it to anyone. Overall: Good for both an in-and-out experience on weekday lunch break and entertaining guests in the evening. Food, price, and service are decent and fair if you're looking for a quick pick. I'd go again.

I was in town for business and stopped by one night. The food is really good, very quiet place and probably would not have gone if it wasn't for my fellow yelpers. Service was good. The only thing I had a problem with is the sushi rolls were very small

My co workers and I eat here all the time. The food is awesome, and if you look in the clipper magazine, they always have coupons for this sushi place. The food is really good and each time I walk in I am always greeted by the sushi chef. It has a nice atmosphere and the wait staff is pleasant and attentive. Revision- have been back here 3 times since the initial review and had long waits despite the place not being busy.

The sushi is pretty darn yummy. It's a BYOB so don't forget to bring along some beverages. The rolls are a little small, but reasonable priced so you can just order more. The dynamite, black dragon and dancing roll are definitely my favorites. They must be used to indecisive customers because although it wasn't busy, we waited a fairly long time before anyone came to take our order and bring us napkins and chopsticks, but the food arrived pretty promptly once they finally asked what we wanted. It isn't too loud and there are booths so it's a nice place to catch up with friends. I will definitely be back!

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem; the Chinese food is good, but the sushi is amazing !!! The sushi chef creates rolls like the Exton roll (white tuna and banana) and the Fantastic Dream roll (black pepper encrusted tuna) that definitely rival & surpass any sushi I've had not only in Philadelphia but in NYC. And the price is more than reasonable. My fiancé and I use this place to celebrate birthdays, etc and I even had them cater a party I was hosting--really good and I got rave reviews from my guests! The staff is always friendly and it's a BYO.

One has to be careful with the "authentic" dishes. I ordered lamb cumin and I know and was further cautioned that it is spicy. However it was essentially a dish of chinese red peppers. In fact, after picking out the lamb and leaving the peppers, I would truly some people would think it was exactly a dish of peppers and I hadn't started eating yet! Way, way to hot. Han Dynasty, 1/4 mile away, does a bettre job withe the authentic dishes in my opinion. Otherwise Z. Wei had good food.

My husband and I love this place! The sushi is outstanding! Our favorite is the Exton roll- white tuna topped with banana tempura! We ate here last night and also tried the out of control roll, very good. Check it out the next time you are in Exton.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
