After getting tired of all the Indian restaurants around KOP, the only savior for me was Devi in Exton. I heard they are opening up another restaurant. I decided to try here and never got a chance. And the chance came along. Myself and my roommates stopped by here for the weekend. I generally don't enjoy Indian buffet, because of the boring choices. But Nala's had a decent selection in the buffet, which I really enjoyed. The only minus point was there was only one thai vegetarian dish. And also point to note for the chefs: Coffee Payasam? Coffee and payasam don't go together.

Love this place. Everything is super yummy and they have a nice atmosphere and superb service! Been there twice and we definitely want to go back again!

My honest review of the Lunch buffet I had today Ambience: It is a proper Fine dining not the other Indian food joins who just pretend to be. Seating is nice, adequate, comfortable, upscale and pleasing. Food Quality and Taste:- Nala has an open Tandoor which prepares fresh Naans, which means that Naans served are fresh and hot. This type of arrangement is found in 4-5 star North Indian restaurants in India, so my thumbs up here. I was served with amazing yummy tandoori chicken which was just out of the tandoor and not prepared and left in the hot case. Goat Curry was just enough spicy, well cooked with tender pieces and curry full of flavor . Other items like and Andhra Curry, Paneer Masala, Thai Curry were average. Desserts- Gulab Jamun were served Hot which were good and fresh so good job there. Birayni too was good but I have tasted better Value for Money:- with $17 per plate, I expect few more appetizers than one served in $9 resturants. Quite pedestrian and basic. They dont even serve dosa like their sister concern Devi. No coconut chutney was a big minus. Again Only Naan served in the breads. With the price per plate at 17, I expected something to drink like tea, coffee, lassi, buttermilk also more appetizer and butter options.

Well I have to start off by saying the food is delicious here. But they are not cheap for the Exton area as most of their dinners are $17+ each. Their Chicken Tikka Masala and Thai Red Curry (chicken) are delicious in my book along with their Garlic Naan (rosemary naan was just OK). The interior is very nice and well lit and the owner and staff are quite nice. They have a tandoor oven on site and it shows with their great food. I could eat here more then once a week, if it didn't cost $40 a meal for 2 people! I heard good things about their lunch buffet, but have not gone yet.

To go we ordered chettinad curry, gobi manchurii and panner tikka. Gobi manchurian was very tasty as usual. But chettinad curry was a disaster. I was not expecting vegetables zucchini and carrot in authentic chettinad cuisine. Why in world zucchini?? It was a bad combination. It was 0% authentic chettinad. Paneer tikka was average. It is a good resturant but some of the dishes are too Americanized and given Indian cuisine name to that. I do not agree to this when we want to taste authentic Indian cuisine.

The best Indian food I could find in the PA/Delaware area. Authentic food with innovation, week after week. Kudos to the chefs. Chicken kebabs are always made to perfection, our family favorite. Can improve upon the South Indian biryanis. No dosas here, but plenty of other variety foods including fish soup , egg omelette curry , tamarind chicken etc that you would not normally see in other places. Good customer service too and nice location.

being a foodie and choosy in picking Indian non veg restaurants, this one should get a 5 star rating from myside, but 1 star down which I explain why? Chicken Biryani/ Pulav Very authentic taste when it comes to chicken pulav/ biryani...This wasnt like the usual dum/ hyd biryani, but tasted more like the pulav which I get in south India particularly from the blr-mys-mandya region.. Even the tandoor chicken kababs, pepper chicken, butter chicken were just awesome and very tasty... I would recommend these to anyone... no restaurants in the area gave me this taste so far. Average one was the Goat curry... this one tastes the same as in all other restaurants in the area.. nothing great about it.. rather.. I didnt even like the taste.. I am a die hard fan of Goat meat and its recipes... Another one I want to point out was the chicken pepper soup!! This gave us a laugh... I had something in my mind before I could taste.. and later found out that it was just another rasam which had chicken pieces.. chicken and soup didnt go hand in hand... sorry chef! last but not the least!.. the water served in the restaurant has visible particles which the waiter tried to defend saying its just the water and nothing else!!! U better carry ur own bottle of water! :-) Al-a-carte has its own merits/demerits.. but when it comes to buffets, no restaurant in the area can beat this taste. Restaurant is clean, well maintained staff and ambience too..

I visited this restaurant on Monday with few of my American friends Food: Taste of food is not that great. We went for lunch buffet which is very expensive $16. I was informed that it was a special lunch buffet. I did not find any special than my previous visit. Very limited options for meat lovers. Naan breads are served very hot and made instantly, then again taste is not so great. Very disappointing for THAI lovers. Only one dish in Thai menu. The only item my group liked is lamb kheema. Service: Service is ok. Not good when compared to their vegetarian restaurant.

Nala is very nice fine dining establishment with a very good ambiance. Buffet is great with many choices of fresh Indian dishes. Staff was very good. Dessert was fantastic as well.

We went for lunch on Saturday and had the buffet ($16.95 per person OUCH!) cup of hot tea was $3. Overall the food was good but the two choices of chicken were the joints of the chicken with basically no meat but a lot of bone and cartlidge. Nice atmosphere and employees are very friendly. The buffet is definitely overpriced.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Best Indian food I've had in a while. I shouldn't have been surprised knowing that it is operated by the Devi owners. We ordered the mixed grill spicy three times because we loved it so much. Loved is the right word. The Lasoon Jhinga were also a hit and we ordered a couple of them spicy as well. The chicken malai kebab were succulent and enjoyed by the mild food eaters to their heart's content. We also enjoyed the chicken and cauliflower manchurian and thought that the sauce the chicken was in had the perfect amount of garlic and heat. Remember to bring your own beer or wine to cool you down should the need arise. Nala's chicken curry was good but my mom makes it better. The fish dish that we had was amazing but I am blanking on the name so good luck ordering that dish. The waiter recommended it if it helps. The fish was cooked perfectly in a coconut based curry dish that was heavenly. Chicken tikka masala was better than average but the other entree options were far superior. I enjoyed the chicken chilli fry and thought it was a great indo-chinese dish and unexpected. Skip the Thai salad. You will not be disappointed with this Indian restaurant and will probably remember the Tandoori chicken and other dishes for a long time to come.

Awesome food! Food was fresh, tasty and they didn't compromise on the quality when it was served in a buffet. The owner / manager (don't know his name but I know that he is from Maharashtra) of the restaurant is very friendly and cares for his customers. They have nice ambiance and very good food...Its a thumbs up from me!

we ordered off the menu, not the buffet. the food was delicious, and so much to eat wtih the appetizer we took the rest home. I had ordered medium, I don't do so well with spice, but don't like to loose the flavor. I will order mild next time. they did check, and it was great, so i had no problems with it. will be going back again, next week in fact.

Went out for the dinner at this place . I liked the vegetable fried rice. The onion naan and malai kofta was good too.We keep coming here often and they never disappoint. One star less because the service takes a little more time but the wait is worth it.

What a find! Some of the yummiest Indian food I've had in years. Went for dinner and had papadum and sauces, vegetable manchurian, lamb shank makhani. Pleasant staff. Looking forward to trying out the buffet some time. About 40 minutes from where I live but well worth it for me.

We went to Nala for lunch buffet and indeed amazing Indian buffet after long time.. Food was just delicious and at this price, u must go for buffet.. I loved starters veggie Manchurian, spicy Indian curries, fresh made naan, mouth watering soft Gulab jamun and kheer.. yummy... Food and ambience was worth five stars.. But I gave 4 stars only bcz there was Thai green curry and I didn't like it at all.. Will Surely visit for lunch buffet again..

We've come into Nala at least once a month for the last year and it has become our favorite restaurant in Exton/Downingtown. It's consistently delicious, and the staff are always so kind.

Best Indian food I've had so far in the Malvern/Paoli/Exton area. Truth be told, I've only had the Goan Shrimp Curry. But if you do one dish well and in this case, really well, that's all that is needed. The food is on the spicy side, which is the only blemish, because that means that my wife cannot dine here, which in turn means that I can only order take out. And I'll be doing that once a month, if not more often.

Hands down the best tasting indian buffet in the area for my taste. Food was good quality and prepared very well. The regular menu will set you back a bit but the the buffet is a great deal. The place is nice and clean, the food is good, these guys get it.

Ordered takout on a Thursday night. Was told 15min wait and took longer than 30min. Spent about $50 on three items that included one appetizer. Thai red curry and Lasooni jhinga was bad had to throw away most of it. Lamb chettinad was ok. We survived. Won't go back. Do not recommend.

Dropped by for a Saturday lunch buffet. I always welcome more ethnic restaurants in the 'burbs, though frankly there isn't a shortage of Indian. Not familiar with all the regional cuisines of India, but the selection here is somewhat different and more varied compared with other Indian buffets in the area. They also had Thai-influenced dishes which added variety. Naan was freshly made in the center of the restaurant and some of the best I've had. It came separately from the buffet but included with the meal (so was a nondescript chicken appetizer ... tender and moist, but a bit bland and cold). I thought none of the dishes were very spicy, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your taste. Decor is more upscale than the typical Indian restaurant (this place used to be a sushi restaurant). The price is also upscale, almost $17 --- not outrageous, but pricey for Indian buffet in the area. Not sure if it's cheaper for weekday lunch buffet. Price is the main thing that will keep me from coming here on a regular basis, as the food, service, and ambiance were all good.

Ate here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Food on the buffet was outstanding and definitely not the usual warmed over mush found on many buffet lines. Each dish was clearly labeled, the service area was clean and no dish was less than half full. Selections included a wide variety of dishes at least half of which were vegetarian. Tried to sample at least a little bit of each and everything was great. Decor is decidedly upscale with lots of warm wood tones and a fair amount of chrome. This is not your average strip-mall greasy spoon but rather a sophisticated restaurant that happens to be located in a shopping center. The tandoor oven station making nan in the middle of the floor is an interesting touch and provides a focal point as well as a bit of entertainment while enjoying your meal. I've been to Thailand and the Thai dishes at Nala are exactly as I remember having in the Provence of Rayon. I can only assume that the Indian dishes enjoy an equivalent provenience. If you want to enjoy an excellent meal in a modern upscale environment, make the journey to Nala and you will not be disappointed.

The food is amazing. Hands-down the best Indian food I've ever had (even though in PA it's kind of hard to have a "lot" of Indian food, I have had quite a bit). I dreamt about the na'an, it was that good. A little pricey, but absolutely worth it. The only reason I'm giving it 3 instead of 5 stars is that the service was terrible. There were two tables in the entire restaurant, but we still waited over 45 minutes for our entrees, and the restaurant was FREEZING. We both had our coats on and we were still shivering. Yes, I understand it was a cold evening, but turn the thermostat up!! ***UPDATE**** I returned to Nala recently (again on a fairly cold day) and everything was perfect, so I gave them two extra stars! The food is simply amazing there.

Highly impressed by the simple decor and location. I am quite picky about my food. To be honest I was quite skeptical before I walked in as there are no good Indian restraunts in suburban philly. We always have drive to all the way to philly to get some authentic indian food such as IndeBlue. We are vegetarians, so we ordered samosa, chana masala and butter panner masala with onion and Bombay naan and also Thai ice tea. We're highly impressed with the texture, quality and presentation of food. Please give it a try :) I highly recommend this place. I am not sure about the weekend rush but we have learned to enjoy the dinner in the middle of week. We try to avoid the weekend dinners as much as possible due to rush.

I went over for lunch with a friend, seen it being rated as 4 stars gave me hopes it was good, so I was looking forward to the food also hoping maybe to experience a indianthai fusion. Well all my hopes went out the window once I approached the buffet line, 99% of the food was Indian, the only Thai dish was the green curry, and whoever made it, never had green curry before, the Indian food selection was ok compared to some of the others Indian places I have been to. Long story short, don't go there if you are looking to experience Thai food or Indian Thai infusion.

Love it. Have been twice and enjoyed everything. The proprietor happened to wait on us, and he was incredibly patient explaining things to me. We had some thai dishes the first time, but have decided that this is the best Indian we have had...not downtown, not in old city, not in King of Prussia. Not in West Chester. Not in Wilmington. Exton. I cannot tell you whether it is authentic (how would I know?) but I can tell you I loved the Tikka Masala. Loved the Korma. Loved the Malabar (though they are not green beans but super hot chiles...won't make THAT mistake again). The naan is pillowy and hot. The chai delicious. What can I say? Glad my fella lives in the area so we can go again. And again. And again. ..a happy happy surprise!

This place is new, still has some kinks to work out as other reviewers stated. We we for lunch on a Sunday. We elected not to do the buffet, it's small compared to the Chinese buffet next door and much more expensive ($15) for lunch. The buffet seemed to have more Indian than Thai options. They took a long time to take our order. Growing pains I think, we didn't really have a single server. Multiple people came and went to help us. Food pricing on the regular menu seemed a bit high, 15 for pad Thai. Service was slow took about 45 minutes to get our food. Staff was apologetic and brought out several supplies of free bread. Menu seemed to have more Indian than Thai dishes but everything was at least 15, a little pricey for an ethnic food place. Nice ambiance but they should rethink pricing if they want repeat business. We hit buddy's and the Chinese place all the time for lunch but this place would be only a once a while hit with pricing.

When Nala opened I had high hopes! I was hoping for a restaurant with some creative Indian dishes. We went here for dinner a few days back. The owners are really nice ppl, service is great but the food disappoints! Apart from their Bombay naan and gobhi manchurian, which are amazing everything else was just meh! The food quality and taste both were the regular stuff, nothing you relish and remember weeks later. This area really needs an amazing, creative, fresh, quality-focused Indian restaurant. And I'm still waiting!

Good number of items in the buffet. Price matches that though. Been there many times. Couple of good experiences. Some were bad. Try your luck. Cannot be ruled out completely as it has good ambience and good food some times.

My boyfriend loves this place and took me here this past weekend because I haven't tried that much Indian food before. I tried 8 different items at the buffet. I really liked a few of them but some were a little too spicy for me(it appears my tastebuds like the Thai dishes the most). My favorite was the desserts. The price of the buffet was excellent and the staff were friendly. Definitely would recommend and come back to try other items.

I'm only commenting on the take-out service, and the few items I got Went here a few days ago (completely out of my way, as I live in Philly). I called to order ahead the samosas, the chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. I basically judge all Indian restaurants by their chicken tikka masala! I have to say, that this was probably one of the best CTM's that I've had in a while. I absolutely hate when the chicken isn't fully marinated (I'm not a huge meat eater in general, so I don't like to taste the meat if it hasn't been marinated well). You could tell that at Nala's, the chicken was not only marinated very well, but also cooked in tandoori style b/c the meat was falling off the bones, and was very tasty. Not all restaurants cook the chicken tandoori style when using in a CTM dish. The sauce was awesome, not too strong. It was pretty mild (heat wise), but then again I didn't think to ask for it to be spicy - I'm sure they would've added more heat to it if I had asked. The samosas were excellent too! I was expecting a bit more garlic in the garlic naan, but it wasn't a huge deal - it went well with my food anyways. Since I didn't dine in, I can't comment on the service. But, when I went to pick up my food, I saw that it was very trendy inside, and the decor was very pleasing (not your typical Indian restaurant...and I've been to so many). They had my food ready to go, and I was in there for probably 2-3 min total paying my bill....so in that regards service was great and saw that the ambiance was really nice too Anyways - go try this - the food that I tasted was awesome! If I'm ever in that area again, I definitely want to dine in.

Foods really good. Ambiance is calming, staff is very attentive. Welcome addition to the Exton Main Street Dining scene. tried a couple of the dishes at the lunch buffet, then had the chicken pepper dish for dinner. It was amazing! I'm pretty sure the other reviews on here are spam from a competing restaurant. How sad a person must be to sit around and try and ruin another's business venture. Grow up

Very surprising Indian restaurant, almost a Bistro. This is the sister restaurant to Devi, my favorite Indian restaurant away from India. I guess the regular Indian population sees it as pricey but we don't think so. You get what you pay for. The service is amazing. I am seeing comments that things were slow. Dinner is not an eating excursion. It's time to socialize, relax, eat and enjoy one another's company. Want to stuff your face? find a buffet and go crazy. Good food takes time. Nala has very nice ambience and the staff are awesome. The food was yummy. We started with Chicken Manchurian and a few Samosa's. Half our group enjoys spicy food and the other half prefer mild. They perfectly catered to it. We also enjoyed the Kothu Parotta's, the very tasty Chicken Biryani, and the chicken Sukka. The malai koftha was delicious and the Naan was like a punjabi dhaba in India. I consider myself a food critique and I recommend this place as a "must Go" The chef is from Tamil Nadu and so are a bunch of the guys and they make good food. A special shout out to Chef Varun, and the maitre de, Naveen. Enjoy people.

I love Indian cuisine. It is my comfort food of choice. So when the bf asked me about trying a new Indian restaurant I jumped at the chance. I expected the decor to be the dark boring old school style I'm used to. But this place felt modern with funky bowls and an airy atmosphere. Sure the price is a little more then I am used to, but the quality makes it worth it. I even saw items on the menu I was unfamiliar with. Of course I had to try them and I definitely enjoyed it. Definitely a great place to go.

This place is really good. It is worth trying. I have only been there for their lunch buffets, but they have some of the best Indian food around. They change their buffet everyday, you never know what you will get to try. I have seen a fair bit of Indian's, but not too many. They bring you fresh naan to the table, they also give you tandoori chicken right at your table. They always have at least 2 Thai dishes. Overall some of the best Indian food around.

I visited Nala when they first opened, had to be a little over a month ago, but forgot to post a rewview. It was EXCELLENT. The food, the staff and service were fantastic. There are a few indian rest's in the area, but this by far is our favorite. I cant wait to go back. I agree with one reviewer who stated it took a little bit to get the food. However, it was nice and hot, and I agree- enjoy the experience. If in a hurry, go hit up a buffet. Love the vegetarian options too.

I didn't have a chance to eat here at night. Cannot believe Price range on Yelp says $$$$. I had lunch buffet which was $12 including tips. for this price, I think Indian dishes of the buffet is good. Thai side can't give positive comment. It is not bad if I didn't know it is suppose to be Thai.

I think some of the poor reviews are very inaccurate and people who don't normally eat Indian cuisine. Nala is a great option for Indian Cuisine, the food was very good and presented in a very nice way. The staff was genuine and conscientious and friendly too. The ambiance was pleasant, the decor was interesting and they played cool music. I am happy that in the Exton area we not only have a new Indian restaurant but one that is pleasant to eat in. If you like Indian food, I can't imagine you would be disappointed. I am definitely a fan!

This is absolutely my favorite Indian restaurant! I've been here for dinner a few times, and every time it's been a great meal. The waiter was very friendly, and the food was delicious. I have just recently tried their take out lunch special. It is by far the best I've ever had. They give you the right amount of proportions, and there's a variety of food items in the lunch special. When I went today I was greeted right away and I was offered some water while I waited for my food to be ready to go. Everyone who works here is very friendly. A young man had a very nice conversation with me about the buffet that they have and also I was inquiring about the artwork that they had on their walls. Definitely an all around great place to go. I recommend EVERYTHING on the menu. I haven't tried everything yet, but from what I have tried it's all been a delight.

Embrace yourself as this review might get rough! Maybe they make everything else just about average but the Chicken Biryani. I have heard a lot about this place mostly because this is the only one around which is relatively better and not because it is a top class restaurant serving Indian cuisine. A few months ago I ordered Butter Chicken and Boti Kebab. They were good. Served in pretty handsome quantities and that's what made me try them for the second time - a couple of weeks ago. I ordered two portions of Chicken Biryani and the size was, as usual, a good one. What threw me off was when I opened the box at home I saw the rice as dark. I was anticipating a little bit of fried rice but this rice was burnt and old and microwaved so much that it turned in to tiny rocks of grain. It was a Sunday but does that mean you would serve some old overcooked food? Probably no...ooooorrr probably yes because that's what restaurants do most of the time. Moving forward, I found just too many tiny chicken bones all over the biryani. A proper biryani does not contain tiny nail-sized bones in it. In the past 10 years of my life having various styles of biryani, never have I ever come across such a situation. The chicken was hard and did not taste like anything close to being fresh. I understand that it had masala and spices but the chicken itself was hard to chew. This is what happens when you microwave an already microwaved food - takes out all the moisture from the food! Thank you for the yoghurt dressing on the side though, it didn't help to ameliorate the experience I had with the Chicken Biryani. I would just avoid going to this place again...If I had to re-heat microwaved food, I would buy frozen stuff from grocery stores and do it at the comfort of my own home rather than wasting my hard earned money on lofty expectations.

Disappointed in Buffet. While we have had takeout on one previous occasion, this was the first in dining experience we had. Service was quick and courteous and restaurant clean. Naan was great. Saag was akin to baby food purée spinach and similarly lacking in taste. The quality of meat in the tandoori chicken and curry special - while presentation all great-left much to be desired. Seems as though the meat cuts left from the a la carte found their way to the buffet! Mostly bone pieces, little meat. I also had full cardamom pods and piece or bone in the biriyani which were not fun surprises to bite into.

Nice restaurant. Good food and ambiance. The center of attraction is the naan station in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered shrimp in garlic as an appetizer and Nala special lamb curry with butter naan and rice the entree was sufficient for two people and we liked it. However three start is for the price. The restaurant is little overpriced. FYI: the restaurant has the same owner as Devi pure vegetarian restaurant.

Our favorite go to for Indian food, attentive, friendly, efficient service, AND they are happy to discuss details of menu and explain dishes you are not familiar with, and make my korma just as I like it ;) Naan breads to die for, curry's in all spice levels - clean restaurant, noise level is low, seating comfortable, and tables not to close together, music at appropriate level to give perfect ambiance :)

Yum. Just yum. Went with a group of 4 and had Paneer Tika Masala, Lamb Korma, and whatever the next thing down the menu was. They were all awesome! And we had leftovers. I love Indian food, and I will be back for sure!

I had the lunch buffet, which is $15.95, which puts it higher than many other Indian buffets in the area. I tried to sample as much as I could. Some dishes were good, such as the curried goat, and the naan, which was wonderful, since as others have mentioned, it is cooked in full view of the diners and is served to you hot. The mulligatawny was lacking in flavor. I had a jalapeño wrapped in batter which was rather plain other than the expected spiciness. The dal was a bit watery but ok. Other items were not memorable. Not bad but not my favorite.

    (3)
  • Jo L.

They make the naan in the middle of the room for you! It was so cool! I wish they had garlic naan though. Came here during lunch for their lunch buffet and was super excited. The Tikka Masala is my favorite dish I get at any Indian restaurant I go to. They had Veggie Tikka Masala for the lunch buffet and not chicken but that's okay. The only thing I was a little disappointed with for this is that it was more watery than creamy. There is a lot of other options as well. The lamb rice dish was one of the other ones I really liked.

Heard this place was good and decided to drive for 45 ming and give it a try on valentines day, which was a bad decision! Buffet was priced at 17.99 which I think was overpriced for the quality of food. The food itself was not spicy and did not have enough flavors. Meat was under cooked, which we complained to the manager who apologized and said he would replace the curry, which never happened. There was no meat in the chicken biriyani and no eggs in egg curry, when we complained about it, the representative was very rude and said "we are too busy now and trying our best to refill as fast as we can, please bare with us"!!! Would NEVER come back here and would not recommend..

Excellent nan, plus you can watch the chef make it in the tandoor. The Xitucci(?) curry was excellent, with flavors of coconut and chilies. My wife had spring rolls and the pad Thai which were also very good. Nice decor and friendly service. BYOB is also a plus.

Where I went with my boyfriend on our first date over a year ago and it has been our go to Indian restaurant since. Although the service when they first opened was slow and inexperienced they have come full circle with hiring food runners and drink servers. No matter where else you go in Chester County, Nala is by far the best. I would highly recommend their garlic naan. My boyfriend enjoys their lamb dishes, his favorite being tikka masala, since there is plenty of meat for the portion. I eat fish and veggies and my favorite is the Chana Masala, although you need a strong palette for the spice level. You will definitely leave full and satisfied. We had actually never had Indian nor Thai food before Nala, and it has become one of our favorite cuisines.

  • Kiran K.

For the price you pay, I don't believe the food is good. My husband and I ordered chicken curry & Lamb curry - both of which lacked fresh favors. The Roti was dry and doughy. There are other Indian food options in the general area. I would not recommend this. Save your $$$. I'd pay $ for this food. Nala - if you are going to charge top dollar, the least you can do is serve top food!

Great Food, Great experience. I live in Bear Delaware. My family goes to this place once every month or sometimes every other week. Their Goat curry is too good, they have a very nice Buffet Laid out. Lets move to a la carte, easily one of the best varieties. the food is well presented and the taste hits the buds. I am a big time foodie. and all I can say is I can vouch for this place. go try it yourself!

We first decided to try Nala because someone told me it's a non-vegetarian version by the same owners of Devi. So the expectations were HIGH. As soon as we walked in, I saw a guy in the middle of the dining room cooking Naan in an open Tandoor. Minutes later we had a basket of those brought to our table, hot and fresh. I was in LOVE. It's hard to rate individual dishes from the buffet considering the amount of option, and the fact they change a bit to make things interesting. But one thing for sure is that the quality of food is high! There are about 6 dishes in average that I would go back for seconds every time I've been there. To name a few of my favorites: Indian: Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Masala, Veggie biryani Thai: Red/Green Curry, Chicken Curry There are different types of rice or fried rice to choose from. Each with different flavors. The only problem with Nala is during lunch rush hour the line gets ridiculous long. But it's a buffet line, how could you complain? It only says how good the food is! I just learned to avoid the rush. I would not take any points off for it.

I don't know why I haven't tried this place earlier, but I'm glad I did yesterday for lunch. So to quickly confirm what others are saying, yes this place is well decorated, and yes from a quick glance at the menu this place is a bit expensive for dinner. Indian food is never cheap for dinner but this is a few dollars per dish higher than most. Cheapskates like me will enjoy the lunch buffet since it is $9.95. Now, I visited on a Friday at noon. I was seated quickly, but the line to get to the food at the buffet was 40 people long. It took about 12 minutes to get through. This meant that I probably wasn't going to get seconds so I had to make my first trip count. And that I did. My rundown is below. Chicken 65 - Their version is a little more mild compared to other versions I've had. But their version was also quite fresh, quite juicy, and tasty enough to please. Tandoori chicken - You know how many places serve this on a buffet where it gets dry? This was perfectly juicy. Great taste. Orange chicken - I have to assume this was one of the Thai dishes. I was mildly disappointed in the Thai selection on the buffet that day. But it was pretty good. Egg curry - You don't often see enough Indian restaurants breaking this out. And this had quite a kick to it. I was pleased. Vegetable biryani - It had a good biryani style spice to it without being overpowering. Malaysian chicken noodles - This tasted like more of a dish to please Westerners. It pleased me. Naan - Since the place was so busy, I had to remind a waiter to bring me my basket. Luckily he was able to deliver it while it was still warm. Nothing like fresh naan made in front of your eyes. Fantastic! Mango marble cake - Truth be told, I wasn't terribly pleased with the dessert selection. But this didn't taste too bad. They just threw some mango sauce over boxed marble pound cake which to me is cheating. I would have preferred some gulab jamun. The service gets overwhelmed when it's busy. Can't blame the servers but it's a bit of a drag to have to get their attention. Very solid 4 stars. Extremely solid. Might be 4.5 if I could do that.

This place is amazingly delicious. I love the Mali kofta, mango lassi, and naan. They take their desserts to the next level. So try to save room! I have only ever ordered takeout, but their dining room is really elegant and would make for a nice evening out with family and friends.

Indian restaurants should have a great buffet. Nala does not. Their food is good, and off the menu items are great, but their buffet is not. They have a lot of items on it, but are missing so many staples!!! I come to an Indian buffet to stuff my face with my favorite dishes and that is not possible here. For the price I expect at least a paneer dish, not too much to expect!!!! The service and decor are great, but would rather go to one of the many other Indian restaurants in Exton...again, because of the buffet.

  • Esra K.

The buffet was so-so and for $10.95, it was not all that. There were only 2 thai dishes, the rest was indian. I was expecting a little of both. However, what was the most disappointing is that they charged us $4 for a black tea! After mentioning it to them they lowered it to $3. Neither my friend nor i will be returning. On the plus side, the waiters were very kind. I am sure there are lots of other nice indian restaurants to explore.

1 star is the least that I can give on Yelp otherwise I would have given them a negative score. They used to be awesome and one of my favorite Indian restaurant (I am Indian and not easy to please when it comes to Indian food - so take this review by what it's worth). We reached there at a reasonable time for dinner and ordered appetizer and entree. They brought everything at the same time and AFTER 50 minutes! Kidding me? One of us ordered chicken and it was not properly cooked so it had to be sent back. When they brought back, it seemed that they had brought the same dish - only warmed up. Also, one of the naan came really late - so while waiting for the naan, the curry is getting cold. Service was horrible. Restaurant was packed but there were plenty of people working there so there is no excuse. Well, when you are running a restaurant, you have to plan resources based on your demand in the weekend and this owner has other restaurants too Poor. Food was horrible. It used to be really good - not anymore. Save your trouble and avoid this restaurant. Bangles in Downingtown is now my go-to spot after this debacle. We were a group of 5. They added a gratuity tip in the bill. I have never seen this for 5 people - its usually 6 or 8. When asked the manager, he nodded that this is their policy. That's total nonsense. I was a fan of Nala and recommended this to everyone. Not anymore. Place is going downhill sadly.

This is the best Indian food I've ever had! My favorites are the Goan shrimp curry and paneer butter masala. At dinner, there's a person making fresh naan in the back. Plus the owners are the nicest people and really know how to make you feel welcome.

I was originally trying to satisfy my craving for sushi. Somehow I had incorrect information, and found Nala instead. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but I do like Thai, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the massaman curry with chicken and Thai ice tea to go. The gentleman who helped me was SO very nice and friendly. I shared with him how I don't like spicy at all, so he made sure my massaman was super mild. He told me it would be a 15 minute wait and offered me a seat at one of the tables, even if I wasn't dining in. He also asked if I wanted a water or any other drink while I wait. I didn't take the offer, but very considerate. Satisfied with the service I received inside the restaurant, I was looking forward to try my food. Large portion of curry, includes a side of rice and some sort of pudding for dessert. Apparently they don't have to-go cups for drinks, though, because my Thai iced tea came in one of those plastic soup containers, but they did throw in a small coffee cup, lid, and straw. They must not do to-go very often or well because I also didn't have any utensils in the bag. Or napkins. Eh. The food itself was good. Mild as promised, but still with taste. The pudding wasn't anything extraordinary, but it was good. The Thai tea, though... very disappointing! It had a really weird taste to it, as if the milk was spoiled. Yikes! Or maybe not spoiled, but whatever milk they used, I'm not a fan. At all. So, great service. Average food. Not so good to-go abilities.

Now that I work in the area I had to branch out and find my new lunchtime spots. Nala is the reason I joined Yelp! in the first place. I would have never found this place otherwise. Packed in the corner end of the OTHER side of the mall I would have never ventured into. Great Lunch Buffet and the food is as fresh as it could be. Price is just at the point where you don't have to wonder what they are skimping on. Great place but when you go to a buffet during lunch you hate to have to rush. The new guy can't be late back from lunch at least for the first 4 months.

Omg, I didn't realize it was a byob. What a disappointment. Thee naan was quite good. Chicken tikka masala was ok only. Meat meager and not tender. Flavor was good. Pad Thai was very good and Probably the best thing about it. Service fine. It was clean.

  • Plucky M.

I went here for dinner with a friend. I got my favorite Indian dish, Chicken Tikka Masala. It was good, but a bit spicier than restaurants generally make it and hard for me to eat (but keep in mind, I am an All-American Wussy). Otherwise it was good, but the portions were quite small for the price. They only brought one serving of rice for my girlfriend and myself and our two separate entrees. I asked for my own portion (to try and take down the heat) and they charged for it - even though that wasn't mentioned when I ordered it. That's just poor form.

Nala has Excellent ambiance, location, food and service. A bit expensive for buffet. I have tried buffet for couple of times and this is the best if you want to have a sumptuous lunch. Best thing to do is to skip break-fast and hit Nala for lunch :). They have big menu for buffet including veg, non-veg, and thai delicacies. They server Tandoor Chicken or dosa on the table for buffet which is great. Food is delicious and tasty. Ambiance is excellent, they do have an bar also. Best Indian high end restaurant which maintains consistency. Thai red curry was amazing. I would defiantly recommend this place for anyone.

We came here for my parents anniversary and just had a complete blast. So it was 4 of us(Mom, dad, sis and I), my uncle's family(4 in total) and my aunt's and her husband. In total it was 10 of us for lunch and we went a la carte and the food and service was just simply amazing. A few highlights - the seekh kabab was very well made. Very tender and when mixed with the mint chutney, simply amazing. The butter chicken was also well made and my aunt commented that it tasted very similar to the copper chimney version in Mumbai. For the vegetarian fair, the Sabzi Pakora was one of the highlights since they made it nice and crunchy and seasoned with the right masalas. Overall just a great time and the service was second to none. Really happy we finally have a fine dining Indian place in the Exton area.

Wow! I am so impressed by Nala; the well maintained buffet, the wide selection of dishes, fresh naan, that you can watch being made & everything tastes fantastic. I was really impressed by the large portions of chicken satay, they practically use a whole breast on each. Another nice surprise was how beautiful the interior is, since most Indian restaurants are always poorly furnished. Can't wait to go back.

Nala is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in the area (although Devi is a close second). I typically go on the weekend for the buffet and have never been disappointed. The buffet options change frequently and there is always a good variety. Also, as many others have mentioned, the fresh naan is fantastic.
