Fantastic Mexican food!! Walked in and was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the overall atmosphere. Wait staff was extremely friendly. We ordered queso chips and got a plate of fresh tortilla chips with gobs of cheese on it. Fantastic! My test of Mexican restaurants is pork carnitas, and this place knocked it out of the park. Great looking dish of carnitas, a generous portion of guacamole, rice, beans, and some peppers/pico mix to top the carnitas with. They also came with warm fresh corn tortillas. My friend got the chicken flautas, which at most places are frozen and reheated. These were fresh and very good. The wait for food was slightly longer than most Mexican places, but that is because they obviously take their time and prepare the food to order. We were in and out with adequate time to get back to the office. Prices were great as well. I am used to paying $11 to $13 for carnitas, and their plate was only $8.95. This will be a regular stop for us. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place. My husband grew up in Texas and he loves authentic mexican food. We are recent transplants to the area and have been trying to explore the local restaurants and decide to give this a try after glancing at the menu. It is very cute and brightly decorated. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The guacamole, chips, and salsas were fantastic. My picky husband loved them and he was very excited to try more. We both ordered dishes that contained steak. That was our first mistake. The steak was very thin, poor quality, and too lean to have any flavor. I would say it was bottom round. Very little seasoning didn't help much. We tend to be higher-end eaters so we were just hoping for a higher quality of ingredients. The prices did not indicate that the quality would be what it was. We ordered the tres leches cake. It obviously had been frozen since it was served to us not yet thawed. Drizzled chocolate sauce was the final ruining factor; not authentic at all and overpowered the delicate flavor of the cake! Yuck was all I could say. It's new to the space but not new since they relocated from Lambertville. I like to see independent retailers thrive so I hope they only improve.

First visit utter delight. I must explain I was born and raised in El Paso Texas, so finding a satisfactory Mexican restaurant in the Exton /W. Chester vicinity since our recent transplant had previously met with a fair amount of disappointment. Thanks to another review here, I opted for the Tortilla Soup and OMG, what a fantastic blend of savory flavors, with generous portions of shredded chicken, avocado and mexican cheese. Ordered a large, but next time I suspect the small should be plenty. A full meal for sure. The flavors were so good I look forward to trying the next choice, which may well be carne asada (marinated brisket) or pechuga de pollo (chicken breast). Prices were competitive for like restaurants in the area, though not as cheap as Texas of course. After all, those chilles have come a long way. Great mexican music and not too loud. I say a nice ambiance for most any get together. Service was perfect as well. Note: my iPhone and GPS had me going in circles and on the other side of Swedesford, whereas the location is right in Fairfield Plaza between the Giant and Ross stores (near the Himalayan restaurant).

My wife and I have dinned there twice, and both times the food was tasty (as in spiced right and generous) and the service is very friendly but a little slow. They seem to be a little understaffed. But being a fairly new place, I'm willing to cut them some slack. I just hope that the more they catch on, assuming they do, that more servers will be hired. It is a friendly place, and a menu with many interesting choices. I hope they continue to do well. The area needs more quality restaurants, and theirs is a welcome addition.

Ended up here on a whim - pleasantly surprised. Ignore the strip mall exterior and go in. Festive atmosphere. Food is authentic, fresh and yummy. Prices are fair. Service is a bit slow, (servers seemed a bit frazzled and confused at times) but super friendly and accommodating once you get their attention. Bottom line - funky decor, nice people, authentic experience, good eats.

I love this place. All the food tastes fresh and home made. They make the best tortilla soup, I crave it. Owners are wonderful. The place has a warm and welcoming homey feel. A must try!

Very few places are so authentic. They have the most delicious beef tongue taco and the pork with pineapple is also a must have. Service is pleasant and accommodating. It did take a while for the meals to come out but they were worth the wait.

Most authentic I have found on the east coast. Great food, great service. BYOB, but very accommodating. Prices are good. Don't expect your usual chain food here. It's so much better. Try the beef tongue or pork chops, amazing.

My wife and I discovered this hidden gem in a shopping center soon after moving to West Chester/Exton about two years ago. Buho has been our go to Mexican restaurant ever since. The food is authentic and reasonably priced. We also love the fact that it's BYOB. The staff is friendly and typically very attentive. They just recently opened an outside area which makes it an even better dining experience. We've never had a bad meal there (and we've had many things off of the menu). While I can't necessarily highlight any one as the best, I can say that their guacamole is easily in the top two or three I've ever had!!

  • Andre B.

Horrible low quality food (like taco bell), very little flavor on the food (especially the fajitas), and mediocre service. You should skip this place and don't trust the other reviews like I did. What a regret! If I have to give 1 compliment, they had good (although expensive) guacamole. Other than that, we really were not impressed.

Nope. No. Nada. Disgusting. I sent my dish back. That's what you need to understand. My dish was not even good enough to force my way through. I ordered nachos. The least complicated dish on the entire menu. A no meat nacho dish. When my dish came out to me I couldn't even pull the chips apart. You know why? Because the cheese was congealed and cold. The simplest thing there is to make... cheese and chips was not even done right. The saddest part was not the failure in execution, but actually bringing out the dish. I was polite to the waiter (never scold the waitstaff they don't cook your food) and declined to try anything else. The sight of a plate of congealed viscous cheese really does a number on your appetite. My boyfriend got the flautas and the most polite way to call it is a cardboard shells stuffed with dry sausage. He described it as drier than the Sahara. We paid for the flautas though, because our waiter was too nice to do that twice to. When I saw the menu prices, I assumed the meals would be good. This place is on the pricier side of other Mexican restaurants within radius--we're talking 15 and up per plate. I'm confused by other reviews because Chipotle is more authentic than the dishes I tried to stomach today. The beans and rice were the only things I could even handle. I can make beans and rice at home. By the way, they don't take American Express. Also, we still tipped 20% because the food has nothing to do with the service. In fact, the service I received is a full star alone. Always tip your waiters/waitresses!

I always feel like its a major win when a small indie owned restaurant is in a chain area. Clearly, it would be a better picture if it was in a small nook in a cobbled street that you walk to after buying local produce from vendors in wooden street carts -- but life is not that way. Sometimes you need to run to a mall land area to do errands, and the thought of going to Panera again turns me off. When an indie restaurant is in that strip mall - it feels like a miraculous discovery. Stopped here between work appointments and I was so glad I did. Great horchata, got a plate called Buho mix (I think... I know, bad yelper, bad) - but it was a plate of vegetarian glory. Hearty, spicy, beans so smooth I wanted to use every last chip to scoop them up. I am glad I took the extra look to find this place. Very friendly service - and they even told me a little about the dish when it came out. It was a nice touch.

maybe it was what I ordered (a black bean burrito with spinach, no cheese), but it didn't have much flavor. My friend ordered chicken tacos and liked them a lot. They brought warm chips and salsa to the table as an appetizer. Service was good.

You won't find a ton of frills here - just good, fresh, authentic Mexican food. They start you off with the mandatory chips and salsa (three kinds - note that the spicy actually is quite spicy), although, I recommend getting an order of their nachos, too. Both the nachos mexicana and the chorizo nachos are excellent. Their entrees are quite large, and a normal-sized person would likely get at least two meals out of them. My favorite is the carnitas, but their pork chop dishes and enchiladas are also great. They are a BYOB, and their virgin margaritas taste a lot better than the typical bottled mix. The owner, Jessica, is incredibly nice, and is happy to make recommendations or just teach you about the food. They have a lot of interesting drinks on the menu (horchata, tamarindo, etc.), and she let me sample a whole bunch of them. On the whole, a great, casual place to get some affordable and delicious Mexican food.

The complimentary chips and salsa were amazing! We had to get a refill and I could go back just for that. My wife and I are vegetarians and it was good to see a separate vegetarian section on the menu with many options to choose from. The staff is welcoming and nice. Overall good food and service!

  • Madelyn C.

Generous portions and the food was yummy! We ordered the Queso Fundido (make your own quesadilla). It was FUN pulling out the amazing chihuahua cheese. Another thing we ordered was the Exton Fajita Combo, which was spicy, but overall I enjoyed it! The only downfall was there was there wasn't enough diversity with tacos, burritos, etc. Overall, nice little place to eat Mexican!

I had lunch again today with my friend. The fresh gaucamole is amazing. My soup with pork and hominy was amazing and the chalupas excellent. It was very slow I hope that they are more busy other times and will do well. Best mexican food I have ever had.

I love Mexican food and have eaten at lots of Mexican restaurants but this one was the worst experience ever. The beans were not even cooked but rather served directly from cans. My suggestion is to stay away from this one!!

  • Kelly H.

Some of the best Mexican I've had in the area! We'll definitely be going back. For dinner they have a great variety of different entrees (although, somewhat surprisingly no tacos on the menu). Prices seemed a little high, but given it's better than many other area Mexican restaurants, we can't complain too much. Low point of the meal was dessert. The tres leches cake seemed like it had been frozen and then topped with whipped cream and chocolate. After a great start to the meal, it was a bit of a letdown. Decor with the owls was festive and cute. There's also a little grocery section where you can buy all your Mexican essentials - everything from pinatas to queso fresco.

Torta was really good. Salsa was just passable. Guacamole was good.

  • Jon D.

Awful from the start. First, this place is way overpriced. The decor leads one to believe it's your typical fast/cheap Mexican hot plate dive. However, when I saw entrees for up to $18, I assumed this place would be authentic, flavorful, and fresh. However, it was none of these things. My Flautas were dry and tasted like old sausage stuffed in cardboard. I've honestly had better from a Taquito at 711. At least 711 is honest with the fact that its food sits in a heated window for hours before it's served. The service was reasonable, and our server apologized when my girlfriend had to send back her nachos. But, really, how do you mess up nachos? The cheese was congealed, and the plate was covered in that awful soggy shredded lettuce that Mexican places love to use to cover up for small portion sizes. Overall, it was a subpar experience; I feel ashamed to pay $15 dollars for honestly disgusting food.

Oh my gosh! If you are looking for some good authentic Mexican food look no further. This place has it all. The buho mixto is the best app to start with and any of their entrees will only leave you satisfied and are extremely delicious. The staff is great and attends to you right away and as a BYO it's a great place to grab some friends and a bottle of tequila and freakin fiesta! I love the mixto fajitas and their chimichangas are to die for!!

  • Brigit B.

Every meal here has been excellent. Authentic Mexican. Waitstaff is always informative and friendly, even when it takes me a solid 20 minutes to decide on a dish! It's a BYOB and they recently added outdoor seating...greatness! Two of my favorite dishes are the Carnitas & the shrimp enchiladas. Buho trumps all other chesco Mexican restaurants!

I love this place! There food is amazing! I always get the burritos, it comes out hot and fresh. The service is always friendly and they take the time to explain what the different dishes are. It's a wonderful little place that will leave your belly full and happy :) I fully recommend it to anyone who wants a legit experience!

Their guacamole with the chips and salsa appetizer was AWESOME (very cheesy and yummmyy) I got the chicken quesadilla and the boyfriend got a chicken burrito. Authentic Mexican so don't expect grilled with extra cheese expect extra juicy chicken. Standard guacamole not overly flavored but not too bland. We enjoyed it. Atmosphere is clean and colorful, lots of art on the walls and table. I liked the server she was quiet and very friendly and sweet. She was helpful with the menu. Very decent pricing and portion sizing. Construction in the front and we had a tough time finding it and werent sure if it was open when we first looked at it but don't let it discourage you from going in, the inside is nice and clean. Final thought: would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food in the area.

Love Buho, great food, good size portions, and for a great price. I always get the carnitas which are the absolute best i have ever had. Also it's BYOB which is a plus and the servers are always nice.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Horrible service accompanied by the horrible food. I have tried many restaurants that serve Mexican food, this is by the far the worst! Our server was very rude, we ordered 4 plates of the same meal, my wife opened hers to add condiments, there was no meat in taco, I showed the waitress the taco, she told me I took out the meat and added it to other tacos... really? lol. I asked her to please check with chef what was the problem, chef said I was for complaining about the lack of meat in taco, if I wanted to add more meat it was an upcharge, my wife said she did not want the food, waitress snatched plate walked away mumbling in Spanish about how ungrateful we were. I paid for the three plates and left. this place doesn't tell you they upcharge for everything, from some lemon slices to sour cream. will never go back to this place ! try to support local restaurants, next time I will order pizza !

This was our first time here and I'm already planning our next visit. Amazing staff!! So helpful and friendly. The food is authentic and delicious! We ordered many different things to try and all were excellent! Definitely try this place! You will not be disappointed!!

I have eaten here quite a few times. It's nice to see a place just beginning out and still surviving. The portions are really generous and the food isn't that bad but also not the best either. The service can be slow when busy but over all I would come back. This is our normal to go spot for mexican since it's down the street from my house

  • Ben P.

This place is horrible. I don't understand the ratings or these folks haven't been out of exton for some good mexican food - originally from az so I expect good food. First they don't really have a salsa. They consider there tomatoe dried pure as a salsa. The chips aren't bad at all. I got nothing more to say other than the food is flavorless. Try another mexican place beside this such as la loteca express or el tapatio in Wilmington.

Went here for dinner last week with my boyfriend. The menu has lots of options to choose from which made it difficult when it came time to order (in a good way). We decided to start with the chorinachos which were nachos topped with chorizo: delicious and cheesy just like I was hoping. For my entree I got the chicken flautas and my boyfriend got the carnitas. My boyfriend really liked the carnitas and the portion size of the dish was huge which made him happy. The portion size of the flautas was large too, but I can't really say I enjoyed them that much. The chicken inside the flautas had absolutely no flavor or seasoning, which left so much to be desired. Because of this I didn't eat much of the dish. The service was good to start with but became worse as the meal went on. The nachos came out quick but we waited a pretty long time to get our entrees. Then when we were done with our meals, we waited probably 20 min before our server cleared our plates and got us our check. Once we gave our waitress our card, it took her another 10 min just to run it and give it back to us. I want to blame management since they only staffed one waitress for the night and the place had gotten pretty busy towards the end of our meal. Just an OK experience, but I still don't think we'd go back.

Really good Mexican food, family owned place, very very friendly and they actually recognize and value repeated customers. Food isn't very expensive, prices are very reasonable. A wide selection of food/weekend specials too. By far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in this region.

Heard about this place for a long while but never committed to give a try until today. My coworker also gave good review so i decided to go there for lunch. My wife and I always thought that the restaurant looked small and dark from the outside, but once we went in, it was really spacious and nicely decorated. Even though it is a sunday afternoon, this place just had customers coming in. We were seated, greeted, and given some homemade chips and salsa, like most Mexican restaurants do. They were very nice and we figured that we probably didn't need to get the guacamole then although the waitress recommended trying it. The entrees that we ordered were the homemade corn tortilla quesadilla mexicana with steak and shrimp tacos. The quesadilla did not look like the kind we get usually, but instead it looked like a big, fried taco. The steak in the quesadilla could use more seasoning. The shrimp tacos on the other hand were phenomenal. They were highly recommended. Overall, the place was nicer than expected. I would suggest this to my friends in the area.

I was looking forward to my first visit at Buho's. My detailed review is below. Overall I was disappointed with the service and how my order was prepared. It was also a little pricey. For $10+ I feel like I could have gotten a better lunch at other places (Appetites on Main, Chipotle, Primo Hoagie to name a few). Food: I order a Chimichanga (stuffed with grilled chicken and black beans), which was covered in chipotle tomato sauce and Chihuahua cheese. The tortilla didn't seem to be fried very long as it was very chewy. I would have preferred it more crispy. The grilled chicken was very good. The portion size was generous. The black beans were a little runny, I prefer them to be topped with cheese. Rating: 7 sombreros out of 10 Restaurant: Surprisingly, it was not crowded on Cinco de Mayo. There were only 2 parties there. I don't know whether this is because of the food, that they haven't built up a following yet or that there are so many other choices for lunch in the Exton area (including other Mexican options). The restaurant was decorated with balloons and they had Mexican music playing (though not at the decibel level at Chipotle which is good). There is no outside seating. Rating: 7 sombreros out of 10 Service: There was only one waitress who also worked the cash register. I used the web site to place my order for pickup which went smoothly. They called me 10 minutes later to confirm my order. I was initially over charged but when I questioned the total I got some money back. Rating: 6 sombreros out of 10

Very good, authentic Mexican meals! The nachos are great (chihuahua chz, cotija crumbles, refrieds, fresh crunchy lettuce, pickled jalapeño, gauc) and come with a side of pico de gallo as well as tomatillo salsa. I've also had the mole sauce which was very good and the tortilla soup is tasty and worth a mention. My kids love it. They have never had to refer to a kids menu. Friendly service, can be slow. Decor is ok, weird old cafeteria style lighting. Fun/funky/whimsy owl theme is different. The kids like to try spotting hidden owls.

Unassuming little place in a tidy shopping center. Attractive and unique owl-themed decor ("buho" means owl in Spanish). Buho's is a welcome find, as we lived in San Diego for several years and love authentic Mexican food. Flavorful, fresh salsas and guacamole. The Camarones a la Veracruzana were nicely spicy, and my carnitas were outstanding. Service was quick and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. We'll be back.

I really want to give this place a better review because they're fast and super nice but the food isn't that good. I work right around the corner and have ordered lunch there a few times. It's always ready for pick up 10-15 min after I call but the food is just OK. I got tacos and the steak wasn't good quality and chewy. The time before, I ordered online and made a special request, they immediately called to confirm what I wanted. Unfortuantely what I got wasn't great, the sauce on my enchiladas was gross. My coworkers thought so too. Overall, just ok but service I had has been good. The place looks cute and seems clean. Cute lights and it's byob which is nice. I suggest going there for appetizers and bring a bottle of wine.

Anyone who compares this place to Taco Bell has ZERO palate for authentic Mexican food. This is Puebla-style fare, similar to what you might find in South Philly, Norristown or Kennet Square. We found the Enchiladas Verdes comparable to those eat Taqueria Veracruzana at 9th and Washington for about the same price. The Huarache with carnitas was exquisite. The perfectly seasoned pork was juicy as any I've ever had. All ingredients were fresh. The tortillas on which the huarache was based was crispy and tender at the same time.. a very difficult texture to achieve. Service was WAY friendlier than your average taqueria in the city of Delaware County. I would definitely go back and try more complex dishes for dinner next time. ( This was lunch.) Prices are VERY reasonable.

  • Lawrence H.

Chili rellenos are first rate with a home made tomato sauce that is sweet. Guacamole is fresh with just the right amount of cilantro. Carnitas... Tender and slow cooked to perfection. Too bad we did have room for the tres leches cake... Next time for sure.

Wasn't impressed with this place. I love mexican food and like to eat on the healthier side too, but this didn't do it for me. The place is well decorated, the service is very pleasant, the chips and salsa were very good, but the main entree was lackluster. I will admit that I like things very simple in my mexican, as in plain tacos with cilantro and onion. I would have rather gone across the street to chipotle since I like my protein.

I have lived in PA for six years and have not found such delicious Mexican food until now! The vegetarian burrito was AMAZING! The salas and guacamole are tasty too. The only negative thing was the super slow service, they had a help wanted sign on the door so what can I expect? This is now my go to Mexican restaurant and it's BYOB!

OMG! My husband and I are soo addicted to Buho's food! Enchiladas verdes with chicken is his favorite. Mine is enchiladas del mar with shrimp. Food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Not very spicy which I love. And the price is unbelievable! Even the chips and salsa is great! Definitely one of our favorite places for Mexican food in the Chester County.

Bad lunch experience....slow inattentive waitress, food is simply not that good. Cold beans, alambre has no flavor. Took over 10 minutes for tea. 15 minutes for chips and salsa, which most definitely wasn't worth the wait.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. The food is fresh, and I never get the "sick" Mexican feeling (like I ate too much and now way 800 lbs) that I have at other places. This is very authentic, not Americanized Tex-Mex. Also, my 4 year old daughter likes it and she's impossible to bring out to most restaurants. She likes all the owls on the walls and will actually eat. There is a kids menu. Buho's is child friendly and they didn't bat an eye at our last two visits, where both times drinks ended up on the floor (we have a 1 year old also). I like the vegetarian options, esp. the enchiladas and the chile rellenos. Ambience-- not fancy, simple tables and chairs but very clean. Service is good and friendly. It's a BYO which is great. My only wish is that they would bring back the "chicken on a stick" for the kids (the satay).

Six of us headed to Buho after it received rave reviews from friends. Jorge, our server, really made the visit a success. He was ready, willing and able to please. It's a BYOB so we brought lots of wine. What I wish we had done was brought tequila to go with the virgin margaritas on the menu! Regarding the menu: Pluses: Chips with 3 salsas and guacamole Jorge's willingness to refill chips (many times) Fajitas minuses: Slow service Pluses: slow service (good for us because with all the chip refills we were already full) another plus: as it started to get more crowded, our service was spot on, and my friends can be demanding! As Arnold said, "we will be bahhk"! Thank you Jorge! Ps. "Buho" means owl - light struck marble head halfway through meal!

I've been to the Buho's in Exton approximately ten times. I really, really want to give them five stars, but I can't, for the following reasons: 1. The service is good but it takes way too long to get your food. 2. No lunch specials. Traditional Mexican food isn't really cooked 'to order' so most of the food, aside from things that need to be fried, should be ready to go with little preparation. I've been for lunch 9 out of the 10 times. 9 out of the 9 times I have been there for lunch it has not been busy. So why does it take so long? Even the chips and salsa take several minutes, sometimes 5-10 minutes, to arrive. Now the good...(there is plenty of good, and pardon the long-windedness, but this has become one of my favorite restaurants) The chips and salsa are complimentary and are great. The chips are made in-house and they provide three different salsas to sample - a classic (yet garlicky) salsa mexicana (traditional tomato, onion, cilantro), a tomatillo salsa (salsa verde), and a salsa made with chiles (chiles de arbol, i believe). All three are always very good (especially all three together!). I've tried two appetizers, the nachos (very good, lots of delicious, melted cheese) and the Buho's sampler (Buho mixto I believe they call it). The mixed appetizer platter was only so-so. It was comprised mostly of fried components such as flautas and chalupas. They were too crispy and lacked flavor. To date I have had several of their entrees, including the carnitas, torta, tacos, tamales, enchiladas, and my personal favorite bistek en chile pasilla. The latter is tender slices of beef in a robust and flavorful chile sauce. Not too spicy, but plenty of character. The torta was surprisingly good. They are served with avocado slices, mayonnaise, beans, pickled jalapenos, and queso fresco, and your choice of carnitas, chorizo, chicken, or milanese (fried steak). I chose chorizo, which had just the right amount of saltiness and spiciness. The bread was also moist but with a delicately crispy crust. Typically for lunch you'll spend anywhere from $10-15, which is actually not bad considering the quality of the food they serve at Buho's. I just think they'd have a higher lunch attendance if they offered lunch specials.

My wife is from Texas, so we are on an never ending search for good Mexican food and good BBQ. This is the closest thing to texmex that we have found in this area. This place is quant and colorful, but if you've had great Mexican food you know that's a good thing.

Service was amazing. Granted it was very slow when we first arrived (more tables as were seated as we were eating) but our server was so attentive. He offered suggestions and even help design a few special, off the menu items for our little ones. I found the food was average. The salsas and chips were excellent. Fresh and flavorful. Nachos with guacamole was also a big hit. Our entrees however weren't as exciting. Vegetable fajitas had little to no seasoning. The chicken under the Mole Poblano was a little dry. Re-fried beans and rice were very tasty and the shrimp fajitas were seasoned. Menu is very, very big. Seems like they could cut it down a bit. Overall we'll probably give it another try and experiment with some more items the next time.

We went to Buho after a day of shopping in the Exton area and not being in the mood to stand in line for mediocre Tex-Mex chain food. I had moderate expectations as I am fortunate enough to have enjoyed a wide range of Mexican food from good home cooks and quality restaurants. They met my moderate expectations by serving my family a few very good dishes, and a few mediocre selections. The food is mostly food that resembles dishes from SW Mexico with lost of grilled meats, shrimp, some soups, but not much heat. Unfortunately, this also means not a lot of flavor in some of the items. Specifically, we started with the guacamole to go with our chips, which was fine and fresh, but lacked much beyond avocado and cilantro. The salsas that came with the chips were good, but nothing to write home about. We also ordered Pozole, of which I had few comparison examples. Despite a beautiful presentation with tons of ingredients, it was virtually flavorless and seemed under-cooked. Things improved with the main courses as the kids (and parents) really enjoyed their flautas with house made refried beans. The wife and I shared a mixed grill that included a seriously tender pork chop, flank steak, chix, shrimp, veggies, and cactus. They dropped it in a giant clay pot (I'll post the picture) with an awesome green chile sauce. The service was relaxed and casual - don't come here for dinner if you want quick service. The prices were slightly higher than I was hoping going in, but not totally unfair. The decor is fine, and the place was nice and clean. I'm not a fan of their furniture given the pace of service - I would not sit in one of the open booths (both along the wall, chairs on the outside) areas again. I would definitely try it in the future now that I know some of their strengths and weaknesses, and I hope they succeed as I believe they are doing authentic food. Perhaps over time, some improvements can be made to the food and menu because they have a great baseline.

Disappointing all around. The guacamole was bland and taste like it was made with bananas. If this is what "authentic" Mexican tastes like, count me out.

Closest thing I have found in the Northeast to real Mexican food. Prices are right on target for the quality and portion. My new favorite restaurant.

You have just lost a family of long term customers forever. Our family, and especially my daughter and her friends, dined here regularly for the past year and a half, most always for dinner. We have spent hundreds if not more than a thousand dollars. Today at lunch my daughter and her friend were celebrating a birthday. Upon paying the bill, she asked if she could combine her punch cards for the free lunch. The guy taking the money who I believe is the owner, treated her with disrespect and went on a rant about how he should not do it. What's the difference? She has had dinner there way more than five times and never collected the free lunch. As a matter of fact the woman who usually waits on them (I believe the owner's wife) knows their order without even asking. Your actions say that you do not really appreciate or want our business. So for your cost ($5?) of the free lunch, you have lost hundreds in dining that will never happen. By the way, we'll be certain to tell the person who referred us to Buho initially how shabbily you treat your customers.

Service was personable but very, very slow. My chicken fajitas with rice and beans were bland - guacamole was very good however. Decor was strange, with huge pinatas staring at you from the corner, and shelving and refrigerator units with food items for sale randomly placed throughout the space. Since it's a BYOB, it was cool that our table had a bucket set in the middle of the table for our empties. I was really hoping to be able to give raves and support a local business. It was just ok, unfortunately.

The decor was colorful and creative, with the Owl Theme predominating. Clean and inviting, although the electric green-yellow wall behind us was eye-searing. Appetizers were the standard nacho chips and salsas, with guacamole (at extra cost). The entrees are fairly varied, with a long list of vegetarian options and dishes not often seen at Americanized Mexican restaurants, like Lengua. Food was very tasty and big portions, but somewhat pricey. Entrees average 15.00 and soups are 6-9.00, so it's possible to run up a significant bill rapidly. My only real complaint is with the speed of service. It took several minutes for the server to bring drinks and take our orders, and another 10-15 minutes to get chips and salsa. By then we were ravenous. Main courses were also slow coming and we had to flag down the waitress to get our check and clear up even though it had been obvious we were finished for quote a while. There was also very little checking back on us during the course of the meal to see if we wanted anything or if the food was OK. It was only moderately busy, as far as I can see. Also, even though Buho seems popular with families, there are no children's portion options on the menu at all, which seems an oversight. We will definitely be returning, but it is surprisingly expensive and they need to improve the speed and attentiveness of the service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
