I'd actually like to give this a 4.5. I avoided this for a while because it seemed like a townie place that would attract an older clientele looking for a simple menu. I was wrong. I don't like to admit it, but I can. This place is upscale and excellent. The service is impeccable. This is like one of those old school steakhouses. Meat, fancy things on the menu, and top shelf pours at the bar. They offer things that are classy standards that should stay classy standards - escargot, shrimp cocktail, smoked fish, snapper soup, french onion soup, etc. The even get exotic with a conch chowder and a roasted garlic soup. God bless this place because they serve one of the best salads, old school style - a Roquefort and Romaine salad. Note that I did not say Blue Cheese. This is the real deal. So rare to find these days. If you didn't get enough Roquefort on your salad (and let's be honest - who ever does?) you can order a Filet Mignon with a Roquefort Cheese Crust. Wow! It doesn't get any better than that. However, you also can't miss with the lamb chops, the rib eye, the crab cake, etc. The chicken with vodka and pepper sauce is also good. I've never had anything bad. Don't overlook the seafood. The wine list is spiffy. Seriously spiffy. However it is pricy. The wine steward isn't the best - particularly when it comes to personality. This place is right up there with the big, fancy Midwest steak houses I have visited over the years. You know the ones I'm talking about in places like Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis, etc. The ones that charge you $45.00 and that's just for the meat? Sides are extra? Perfect place for a first date or a 50th anniversary. Also a nice place for a family that wants a very nice dinner out. The atmosphere is elegant. There is a coat room if I remember correctly Be sure to make reservations. Neighborhood is crappy - seriously - but be open minded.

Friendly place. Very good service. Wide selection. Rare tuna was quite good. 4 of us had a variety of special requests and all were met. Recommended.

Apart from the close quarters I enjoyed the meal. The food, menu selection and service was great. The selection was different from any other place I've eaten. I don't frequent "white tablecloth" restaurants so my palate may be easier to please. They had escargots, crab stuffed mushrooms and scallops cooked in Thai sauce under appetizers. The steaks on this menu were $30 and up and the cheapest entree was a $20 Boston Scrod. But it was delicious and I had never tried it before. This is exactly what you would expect from a high-end steak and lobster restaurant. We went at 7pm on a Tuesday night. Everyone was being seated in the window room. This room had beautiful sunlight and a nice enough view if you looked past the parking lot. My only qualm was how closely the tables and the people were crammed together in this prime real-estate section. I understand everyone wants to be near the window or maybe they only open one room on slow nights, the larger seating room was empty and the lights were off. But I felt crammed, I could turn and swat the guy behind me with my hair. Not to mention I was in their conversation word by word. All in all I would definitely go back.. with my dads wallet.

I can't believe I have lived in Central PA for 11 years and 11/22/13 was my first visit! What started out as a few drinks after work turned into appetizers at the bar and then takeout dinner for five. Being Friday, with jeans on, we proceeded straight to the bar. After a few drinks we ordered the tuna and tenderloin appetizers - both were very good. We decided on dinner and ordered three salmon specials, Portuguese chicken, and one NY strip special. All of the food tasted good, and we appreciated the good packing! Good service by Jamie @ the bar. Will visit again!

My husband and I had dinner here on Valentine's Day. We choose this restaurant because we really enjoyed a dinner here on our wedding anniversary several years ago. My how things have changed! Being wine lovers, we were looking forward to the extensive wine list and expertise of the in-house sommelier. We learned very quickly there is no longer a sommelier, the wine cellar may or may not have the wine we're looking for, and the servers were not equipped to answer our wine questions. Of course this is a simple fix; one I hope will be taken care of soon. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating, however, when we asked about specific items on the menu, everything was "amazing!" I ordered the snapper soup and my husband ordered the crab soup. Both fell short on flavor, but at least we could add sherry to give them a boost. For my entrée I ordered Mediterranean bonito and shrimp. The bonito was very dry and the shrimp were very bitter. My husband ordered the filet medallions. He seemed pleased with his entrée, but wasn't raving about it. Our server felt very bad that my bonito was dry and offered to have another prepared for me. I politely declined to avoid the wait. As a result we were given a free dessert. We shared the tiramisu. I'm sad to say this was also a disappointment. The tiramisu consisted of yellow cake, topped with lady fingers slightly drizzled with espresso and a topping. Ugh! Considering we spent $200 here, I would have liked to have shared a raving review. Unfortunately I left feeling disappointed and will probably not return. This restaurant has been around for years, so they are more than equipped to handle the heavy flow of Valentine diners. Perhaps our experience was just an anomaly, but at this price tag I don't want to take the chance.

Food was mediocre for the price. Unless you are a regular or dressed like you have $$$$, you get seated in some noisy or cramped corner and treated poorly by the wait staff. Never again!

I live in Philly where there are steakhouses galore, so this may be unfair. Tavern on the Hill was good. I had a Kansas City cut steak-medium rare that was a tad overdone and a tiny salty. Garlic beets were delicious, though a tad oily. Rosemary garlic mad head obviously made way before hand and scoop/slapped right on a little plate. Oily. Service was good. I feel like I would take my parents of grandparents here. Kinda old school steakhouse where they bring things with a plastic container on top and have a desserts tray example. Tiramisu was decent... Overall, it was good, but unmemorable .

Had dinner here while in town for business, I got the impression that this is probably one of the higher end restraunts in the area. food was decent, not memorable not forgetable. atmosphere was fine, would be a good place to bring a date or when out for a romantic night with the wife or girlfriend. Good wine list. Not much on the menu for under $30.

Lovely place. Things are very fresh. I eat vegan and have to often ask for off menu items. They were very quick to make up something special. That means they make their stuff from scratch. My husband had the pike fish. Excellent. Presentation was lovely and the fish was perfect. We both had the roasted beets. Delicious. The ambiance is perfect. The right kind of muted sound. Quiet with a hint of background music. The staff was attentive. Just a real gem. Off the beaten path but worth finding.

This was my surprise dinner on Valentines Day! All I knew was that it was fancy, so dress up..... Which is never a problem for me! I get there and this place is gorgeous! Dim lighting, quiet, a very romantic setting. Also, I think we were the youngest ones there.... by about 25 years. I love wine and for next time, the hostess shouldn't be so judgmental and offer everyone else but us a sip of their fine wine.. We are well old enough to drink, thanks. I felt awkward enough, let alone my partner out of dress code wearing jeans, which I don't suggest for the attire. Service was great. The lady joked around with us. I always love a comedian for a server, others need to loosen up. My salmon (I had to try the salmon, of course), eh.. sorry my boyfriends a better cook. I loved the atmosphere for a romantic, valentine's day evening, but it's no place I would come monthly or even tri-monthly. My paychecks wouldn't be able to handle the bill. Which included a side of asparagus for $10.00 - I guess that's why they avoided prices on the menu. I left full, so I was a happy gal!

Relatively under-the-radar steakhouse tucked away on the West Shore of Harrisburg. Prices are more modest than your standard high-end steak chains. Both the Porterhouse and Delmonico steak were excellent. Rack of Lamb is also very good. For seafood, try the crab cakes or the Yellow fin tuna steak. Wine selection here is great -- I think they have won some local awards for their wine selection.

Work dinner - EXCELLENT wine list the has depth beyond the typical Napa Valley and Italian reds. Would like to check out their wine celler. Everytime I've eaten here, the food and service has been quick, not overwhelming and fully waiting to make the customer feel special.

Be warned expensive, pretentious, famously prejudice, and they use Montreal steak seasoning. Service will be delightful if you fit into the box that they prescribe as appropriate. The meat is the best part, but is ruined by what I know is a prefabricated spice blend from McCromick. The decor is old school elegant, thats up to you, if thats a good thing or a bad. The Wine list while beautiful, as it has made Wine spectator list year after year. I was turned off by my cold reception, because as I looked around, I noticed I didn't look the part of white hair suit guy, tinging glasses, that probably come from tax payers, as this place is a favorite of the senators, and business owners, who seem to think that a high price tag equates high quality everything. These guys were served with smiles, and jokes, in a timely balanced way, while my food came out on top of each other as a subtle way of telling me get out. Reading the stoic look on our servers face, solidified my unwelcome feeling.

Service was average We were rushed in and out... You would think for the price they would let you enjoy your meal.... Salads were on the table before appetizers were finished and entree was on the table before salads were done. Steak was good, I've had better in this area and the same can be said about my girlfriends sea bass. When it came to the bill they charged us for a $120 bottle of wine... we didn't order a bottle, so we caught that right away, but they rung up my bill twice on my debit card so i am still waiting to have the second charge remove. If you want a nice meal and like a BYOB place I would highly suggest going to 2201 in the Boro or the Celler if you are on the west shore

My girlfriend and I decided to eat here for Valentine's Day. We found out when we got there that they had a special menu for Valentine's Day. It would have been nice for them to have said this over the phone when we made the reservation. The waitress was ok. I ordered the steak and I asked for a side of vegetables instead of the potatoes. She said that was fine. However, she comes back right before the food is delivered and relates that the chef cannot substitute anything since it's a special menu. I inquired as to why this information was only now being told to me. She agreed and went back to the kitchen. She did deliver the side of vegetables although they came when I was almost finished with the steak. The steak was good although I've had better. Based on the special menu, this place is over priced and I wouldn't go back. You are paying for the ambience and not much else.

Would make a point of to return here for steak if I'm in Harrisburg again. Ate a steak casually at the bar, but this is afancy steakhouse. I'd encourage you to dress more impressively than I did having just arrived off a plane. Many men sport jackets. The Texas-style bone-in ribeye that was dry-aged and hand cut at the tavern was well worth the $30 price tag. The chef prepared it succulently rare as ordered. Ask your wife or buddies to take you here for your next birthday... Just dress to impress.

My wonderful boyfriend just took me here for Valentine's day. Had a delicious dinner. Only said a 4 because the atmosphere could be spiced up a bit for the prices, but I guess if it keeps bringing business-why fix? I had the special smoked pork chop in a Dijon white wine sauce and mushrooms and was amazing! He had the Tuscan style steak and was loaded with flavor and herbs. He so nicely gave me the leftovers, looking forward to that. We started with the mussels, very good and great portion for the price. Overall, great and we will be back for another special occasion.
