I come here anytime I'm in the area. Sometimes I'll even drive the whole way from Carlisle (35+ mins) to come here. The service is great. The food is really exceptional. Gotta try to seafood. It's fresh and always delicious. Only downside is you can smoke in here. It's never overly smokey, but I'd prefer if it was non-smoking. Overall, Grotto's has excellent specials, food and service. It will exceed your expectations.

The Grotto is SORT OF close to my house--a distance that is a bit too far to walk, yet you feel silly driving there. Accordingly, I rarely go there, a big mistake on my part. My car has been in the shop for a while and I've been to all the nearby restaurants, so I decided to take the hike to the Grotto for something different. The place is not fancy. Some would call it a sports bar, others a dive bar. The clientele is decidedly middle class, but friendly. They have a good selection of draught beers, as well as craft beers in bottles. Smoking is permitted and you must be 18 to enter. In my five or so visits to the Grotto, I've never been served bad food. In fact, the food is quite good. I've never paid the extra 75¢ to have fries with a sandwich because they make their own potato chips (included in the price) on the premises and they are fantastic. The chicken wings are outstanding and available with a huge variety of sauces. I feel the menu price for the wings is a bit high, but tonight they were on special for 50¢ a piece (dressing and celery carried an extra charge on special but are included at the regular price), so I placed a small order for teriyaki wings as an appetizer and was delighted. There was a small mix up with my entrée, but the staff alerted me promptly and offered a choice of remedies. I left happy. This would be a three-star review if it weren't for the service, which was top-tier. As far as I could tell, the only server was the bartender and she was spot on the entire time I was there. My beer was refilled almost immediately upon placing the empty glass at the edge of the bar. She brought my food to me piping hot--so much so that I had to let it cool a bit. She looked me in the eye, smiled, and spoke clearly and kindly; and as far as I could tell, she treated each customer that way. The bar was full, but not jam-packed, yet everybody received great service. I feel ashamed for not visiting this little gem more frequently. It would be an ideal place for an after-work gathering, for a small group to catch the game, or even for a casual date. It's not for a business dinner or a first (or second or third) date, but if you enjoy good food and a laid-back atmosphere, the Grotto is a great choice.

I'm a fan of this place because it's a few blocks away from my apartment. Besides the friendly bartenders, this little bar has a big heart. You can always catch the games you want (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB) whenever you wish because they get every package. Food -The cheese steaks and home fries are one of my favorites, they have a nice $20 AYCE Crab Legs on Monday nights. Definitely worth it. The Oysters on the weekends are an added bonus and are a good value. Fun -Trivia on Tuesdays and Bar Bingo on Wednesdays with Bobby. You win an assortment of different things and it's free to play. Drinks -You get what you pay for, especially in mixed drinks. They usually have two microbrews on tap which is nice considering the area. They also have darts and Golden Tee and a jukebox. Service -Once you come a few times, the staff really remembers you. They care about the patrons and make sure you are having a good time. It can get real busy in there, so be prepared to wait a little if it's packed. The only con for some would be that it is a smoking bar but it's not overally smoky most nights.

This restuarant - located at the old Village Inn in West Fairview - seems more of a sports bar than restaurant. The waitress was extremely unfriendly, and food was just A-OK, and the prices were a little overpriced for the area. My mother and I ate here, and when seated by the waitress, I asked about beer specials to which she quickly replied, "we don't really have any because our beers are so cheap." She was rather short tempered and rude throughout the night. I ordered (over the course of the meal) a Landshark and a Blue Moon, both priced at $3.25. At that price, they're cheaper down on second street during the week. My mother ordered a Yuengling, which was $2.50. For dinner, I had the steak sandwich ($10) and my mother had a cheese steak. When we inquired about toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onion), we were surprised that the sandwiches came with nothing except fries. In their defense, the fries are amazing. But, I also ordered 6 chicken wings as an appetizer. The chicken wings came out with the meals and were priced at $6.00 ($1 per wing?!). I would not have been so focused on price if the waitress didn't make it a point that there were no specials "because their prices were already so low." I asked for A1 steak sauce for my sandwich; they didn't have any. My mother asked for some sauce for her overcooked cheese steak; they didn't have any. The only sauce they had was ketchup and mustard. The total cost of a steak sandwich, a cheese steak, 6 wings, and 3 beers $33.00; it's not terribly priced for Central Pennsylvania. Also, there were fruit flies EVERYWHERE. And, two ended up in my beer. It was distracting, and to be perfectly honest, disgusting. The bar is CASH ONLY, but they do have an ATM machine on site. Finally, it was VERY difficult to find parking near the restaurant because upstairs is either a hotel or a number of apartments. They have a large lot, but it was difficult to find parking right at the restaurant. The restaurant is cleanly decorated, there were plenty of televisions, and lots of seating, but they need to fix the fruit fly problem and work on their pricing along with that waitress's attitude if they want me to return there the next time I'm in the area.

Love the food here! Stopped coming for a while because it was just too smokey. Just found out they've gone non-smoking an am so happy to come back.
