The patio alone was worth the visit. We came here on a Friday night around 6 pm and were promptly seated at a table in the patio. The patio is large with plenty of seating, a bar, tvs, live music, lounge seating and a water feature. The patio is outside facing 4th street and it is elevated so you do not get the road noise. We had the calamari and a couple of flatbreads. All the food was good and came out quickly. They had a good selection of craft beers on tap and a good selection of bottles. We opted for bottles of flying fish. The entire place seems to have bee remodeled. The inside of the restaurant looks new with a beer theme. They have some unique beer bottle lights above the sink in the bathroom. Will visit again.

    1. Beautiful inside - I absolutely love the interior of this place. The dark wood, brick walls, and decorative tiles around the bar are all great features. It's a lot bigger inside then you'd think. Though we sat inside, the patio looks awesome. There's also a second floor.. Not sure if it's just for private parties or regular seating, but it looks cool. 2. Decent menu - went for "brunch".. Definitely not a good place for brunch. They have a handful of breakfast items but not your traditional brunch menu. I got the Taphouse Breakfast, which was okay. The potatoes tasted stale, and my scrambled eggs were watery. Also asked for crispy bacon and received "lightly seared" instead. Breakfast isn't hard, perhaps some skills need to be brushed up on. I think you might have better luck for lunch or dinner. We did order the fried cheese sticks, which looked a lot better then they actually tasted. They were definitely your standard "bulk frozen" type .. 3. Fun drinks - though their morning cocktails left more to be desired, it seems like they have a pretty good drink/beer menu. When I return (most likely for dinner) I'll be excited to try some of these. 4. "Eh" service - our server was pretty awful. I really hate to say that, because I was once one myself, but she needed some serious help. I understand it wasn't busy, but it was 12pm.. Wake up and get some pep in your step. She was nice, but very "ho-hum" about everything. We were there way too long and all due to such slow service. Also had to ask for a lot of things... Ketchup, salt, pepper, more water... Just very bizarre.

They've done an amazing job with Taphouse (previously the Point on 23). The finishes in the building are great as well as the layout. The second floor has an additional bar if it's too crowded on the first. Most impressive is the outdoor patio that has a bar, fire pits, and heaters to ward off the chill at night. It's raised above street level to make it quiet and improve the view. They scored on the menu too. I've liked everything I've tried from appetizer to dessert. They've done a particularly good job with the flatbreads. I could just have that and be fine, but I'll keep digging through the entrees. They keep a couple dozen craft beers on tap along with bottles. My one complaint was that their beer prices are expensive, but they listened to the people and put some domestics on. When the summer heats up, so will this place.

A surprising gem we discovered for brunch! The patio is welcoming and beautiful, perfect on a mid-September morning. Service was quick, our server Amanda was very friendly towards us and attentive to our 5-year-old. The kids menu had all of the favorites and the adult menu offers variety. The steak in the breakfast steak and eggs exceeded our expectations, and the crab and avocado salad had both great taste and a beautiful presentation. I believe we found a new brunch place for our list of favorites!

Great place to dine. The waiters have always been exceptional. I've been several times with groups of 6+ and have not yet had an issue. The vibe is very nice, with a nice modern look. The food is great. Delectable. Delicious. It looks like it would be more expensive but they are very reasonably priced. Meals available for just about $10-$15, depending on what you're getting. The drink selection is nice as well.

Good food at a decent price but terrible service and the worst margarita I've ever had

Pleasantly surprised and totally impressed. Came here on an random Sunday for a quick bite after driving past tap house on multiple occasions. The drinks are priced so well! I guess since I live in center city and don't frequent places outside of Philadelphia, I've become accustomed to the inflated prices but man was this easy on my wallet. We had the 23 burger and the hot beef and cheddar. Both were so good! Beef hot and cheddar was the star. Savory, moist, and very well seasoned. I'm coming back for that sooner teacher than later. Burger was a bit on the dry side? I ordered it medium well and I don't like condiments so maybe that's my fault. That aside it was still one of the best burgers I've had since I moved to PA a year ago though. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Super modern with an amazing patio. Definitely one of the best restaurant bars in the area

I went to the the grand opening tonight with a party of 8! We had a reservation and got seated right away, the service was more than excellent, Jen was our server and she took a perfect care of us even tho the place was PACKED and we were a bit difficult since some of us came late. the general manager came and greeted us as well and he was super nice. I had steak salad and the portions were very reasonable and the steak was cooked perfectly. Overall experience was very satisfying, the atmosphere was friendly and the staff is very professional.

POT PIE!!! I've had other tasty items from here also, but man that pot pie was wonderful. I'm scared to ever research what the caloric intake was for me that night while I cherished that pot pie. Other good eats: -The scallops -The mussel appetizer -The cheesesteak egg roll appetizer; the dipping sauce is nothing special but the roll itself was mighty tasting. It gets pretty noisy in there especially if you stay on the bottom floor with the bar, but I did see that they they have upper level seating. I'm also excited for the warmer months to be able to sit outside. Great craft beer list that does alternate so you can always find something new. No lot parking so either break out parallel parking skills or utilize their valet service. I am definitely going again to try a sandwich, and to maybe relieve my memory of the pot pie and bread pudding.

My bf and I have been patiently waiting for this restaurant to renovate and re-open. (I love alliteration!) We also waited a little longer after they opened, to give them time to work out kinks. We both really enjoyed our visit. Our server was tiny, perky, and very nice and helpful. Our food was delicious. We opted to just get sandwiches on this visit in lieu of actual dinner entrees. I ordered the reuben, which was definitely one of the best I've had. The corned beef had obviously been crisped up on the flattop, giving it a great texture and flavor. It wasn't one of the huge and overstuffed versions you'd get in a deli, but it was still filling and really delicious. My better half ordered their roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich. It was really great and super flavorful. Just be warned it's VERY spicy. And we didn't even add the fried long hots that come on the side. All sandwiches automatically come with homemade potato chips that you can be upcharged for fries if you'd like. I recommend you stick with the chips - they were so good! The decor and vibe inside was cool. Definitely didn't feel like I was in Bridgeport. The restaurant seemed well staffed, and things were executed pretty well. The only downside that I saw was the beer prices. Really high, like 2 dollars more per beer than what I would pay. We both love beer, but just couldn't stomach the prices. Even the few non-craft beers like Miller lite are like $5 dollars a pint. Miller/Coors/Bud should never be even at $4 a glass. Their happy hour seems great (see my pictures for the happy hour specials menu!), but because it ends at 6pm, I can never make it there in time. Oh well. I'll definitely be back for food though!

The Taphouse is a nice, local restaurant, probably our favorite in the area. They have a strong draft list and a decent menu. It may be a dollar or two overpriced for the selections, but all in all everyone should be pleased. Some of our faves are the Cobb Salad, the Reuben, and the buffalo chicken sausage (it was a special this past summer). Speaking of summer, we really love their patio with live music, but they limit the menu (Drink and food) outside, which is a bit frustrating, especially if there is something special on draft...how do you choose? Sit outside or try a new craft beer?!?! All in all, it is definitely worth a visit.

Huge improvement over the last place, the outdoor bar is second to none. Food is good, beer selection good and ambiance is subpar. This place has an LA vibe without the plane ticket price.

The hostess notified me that the table given to us has a 7pm reservation. This gave us a little over an hour to enjoy the ambience. Not a problem, my concern was the 15 minute wait after being told our table is being held for a reservation. Once I met our server Sherita, it wasn't so bad. I ordered a Manhattan an Angus burger. I prefer my burgers to be medium but the cook made it med well. Bummer! I dislike sending my food back and didn't make a stink of it. Overall, the ambience is great, the food taste fresh, decent variety of beer (draft & bottled), and the drinks were strong. This would have been 5 stars if not for the wait and prep of my food.

I have updated my reviews somewhat over the past months- I have to say I am getting more and more disappointed with this restaurant. Just called and was told I couldn't order the sandwiches I wanted because they're on their "lunch menu" and all they have for sandwiches for their "dinner menu" is burgers and a pulled pork sandwich. Apparently this is a recent change, and honestly a stupid one. Will not be getting food here again.

A little (actually pretty big) place you wouldnt expect to find in Bridgeport. You can tell they dropped some money into renovating this place. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The service was on point. I order the calamari and chciken pot pie. These were both good, but very standard. The potpie definitely had a nice presentation and looked a lot better than it actually tasted. It wasnt bad, just lacked the flavor you would expect. I will definitely go back for another try sometime.

There are a few reasons this restaurant makes this one of our go-to restaurants. One is as the name implies there are 23 beers on tap and a staff who can help you pick out the perfect one for you. The second is they not only have a beautiful, upscale space inside but an amazing patio complete with fire pits, a water fall, and palm trees. Yup, that's right real life palm trees, right here in Pennsylvania. Of course, none of these things would matter if they didn't have some pretty delicious food too. We've been coming to Taphouse 23 literally since their opening night last November and so needless to say, we've tried quite a few items on their menu. The best bang for your buck by far (especially if you're coming with a group) is the nachos which are piled a mountain high are are absolutely delicious. We recommend getting chicken instead of the beef! Our next favorite item is their flat breads which are only $4 during happy hour on Fridays. If we haven't filled up on nachos and flat breads, we typically get one the sandwiches or burgers for our meal. Some of our favorites are the rueben, roasted porchetta, and the bacon cheeseburger. For dessert we're a huge fan of their homemade ice cream, especially when pistachio is on the list!

This place has no sense of urgency when trying to get drinks and food on your table. Management needs to step it up. I will say this, great atmosphere and beautiful place. Been here 5 times, has not changed.

A beautiful restaurant and outdoor seating area. Although a little disappointed with the food. The fish tacos were bland and the crab cakes were just ok. It's a great location with a lot of potential so I advise to spend more money in the kitchen and get yourself a better chef so I come back! Service could have been better I had to ask someone to get a beer second time around :(

I rarely venture to Bridgeport for anything but I had heard good things about the Taphouse so I decided to grab lunch on a Sunday in December. The building sits right along the road and there is street parking available as well as a parking lot just up the street. As you walk up the front steps a large outdoor area is off to your right. They're still finishing up this area but it looks like its going to be awesome. They have a print just inside the front door of what the completed outdoor space will look like. I added a picture of it to their yelp page. As you enter a seating area sits off to the right with a high back booth style seat along the right side wall and several tables. The large bar area is to your left and high top tables line the perimeter while 13 or so tv's split the middle of the bar. The near side of the bar is raised about 1ft above the far side. The owners clearly spent a lot of time and money with the design and interior decor. Multiple different finishes are used on the walls and ceiling. One of the TV's in the middle of the bar had the draft list displayed complete with brewery, alcohol content, beer style and a short description. They have (23) beers on tap as is obvious by their name. The same TV frequently switches to a full page description of each of the beers on tap. In the upper corner of the draft list there is a running total of the total number of drafts poured. The tv's are installed down the middle of the bar and they are really close to where you sit and made viewing the multiple football games enjoyable. The only down side was that there were two fraud Dallas Cowboys fans sitting next to us. (Both were from PA) As my wife and I sat down at the bar our bartender came right over with the draft list, bottled beer list and menus. They have a good variety of beers but I didn't see anything rare or eye catching. As we looked over the menu I asked if the Calamari was made fresh and not pre packaged. I was told that most if not all of their food is made fresh. We did order the Calamari and it was indeed fresh and cooked perfectly. If you can't handle spicy food you will not like the tomato sauce that comes with it. I did enjoy it but it was way to spicy for my wife. For our main course we settled on: Chicken Fried Oyster Po Boy $10 Sriracha Tartar Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, Buttered Brioche Chicken Pot Pie $15 Tender Chicken, Seasonal Vegetable, Herb Cream, Flaky Puff Pastry I had the Po Boy and while it was tasty I thought it was way to small. It seemed like only a few small Oysters were on it. I did enjoyed the Sriracha Tartar Sauce. My wife is a big fan of Pot Pie's and she said this one was one of the best she has had. I took a few bites and agree that it was very good. We split the chocolate chip bread pudding and it was GREAT. I think they did a fantastic job renovating this restaurant / bar. Some of the light fixtures were really well designed. In the men's room the main light over the mirror was made of of water pipe and beer bottles. The ceiling was lined with shiny tin panels. This place has the feel of a bar you would find in the city and not Bridgeport. I hope they can attract the Conshy Crowd because I think its ahead of its time in this area. Our total bill was about $55. This included (3) draft beers, (1) app, (2) entree's and (1) desert.

Service was terrible, but at least she admitted it. She should have comped us a beer or something though. Turned into a 2+ hours meal instead of under an hour. Very good beer selection, but they should tell you many beers are only available inside. Also, for a beer place, servers had zero knowledge of beer. Took an hour for appetizers to come. Once food came it was good. Saw other customers get food and appetizers at same time. Would try again.

I've been to Taphouse 23 a few times now - once for HH and twice for dinner. I love what the owner did with the place as it looks 10x better than it did previously. I think once the outside deck opens, it will be an awesome spot for HH. My only real qualm is the prices for beer when it isn't HH. The prices are more in line with what would be charged in Philadelphia, not in Bridgeport. The food is reasonably priced and pretty good. Portion size for a lot of appetizers is a bit small, but the flatbreads and sandwiches are very large. I definitely recommend the Mac N'Cheese, French Fries and Roast Beef Sandwich. Just a warning, it is very loud in there (even on the top floor), so if you are expecting to be able to have a decent conversation this isn't the place for you. Overall, I think it is definitely a step up from what it was.

My boyfriend and I had dinner here twice. I try not to judge a restaurant on poor service in one trip. Both times we had the same server, who was awful. It was like he took our orders, eventually brought us our food, and then left for the night. We hoped to order more beer, but he never came back to see how we were doing and was nowhere to be found in the restaurant. Finally, the manager came to check us out. Good beer list, food was mediocre at best, but cool atmosphere/decor. I think it'd be fine to go and get some drinks, but the dinner service was pretty bad.

I was here with a few friends this past Saturday. We were looking to sit outside somewhere given the near 80 degree weather. The outside patio did not disappoint as the ambience and design was simply perfect. Other nearby towns should seek to replicate this outdoor environment as they are desperately needed. After we were seated it took nearly 15-20 minutes for anyone to even address us and provide us with menus and waters. Simply unacceptable to put it mildly. I would say that we had close to 3-4 different servers during out time there- unsure why that would be the case given that we were repeatedly asked for what we had just ordered, frustrating to say the least. I will say that the food was quite good. We had buffalo chicken fingers and cheesesteak egg rolls for appetizers. Entrees consisted of 2 fresh mozzarella, basil, and roasted tomato flatbreads, and a hot beef and cheddar sandwich. In regards to drinks, it was beyond infuriating as to how long it took given that they were not really busy. When push came to shove, our serve (friendly and innocent young lady) was in training mode. Every time she entered a drink in the bar system, the receipt that was printed out was thrown out by the bartender thinking it was not real. Why this was the case is beyond comprehension. It took another 20 minutes or so to get the check. By this point we had all had it and demanded to see the manager. Fortunately he reduced our check considerably, which is the only reason I might return. For the first time in my reviewing restaurants on Yelp, I can not highly recommend this place. While I admit to not having been inside the restaurant, the outside and it's service desperately need some work. It was a disappointing first visit. I am hopeful that they can resolve all of these issues ASAP because otherwise it won't bode well for their overall business.

Taphouse 23 is true to its name. Their beer list is extensive and diverse. The food menu also boasts a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and entrees. The appetizers are all sharable. The space itself is beautiful and the outdoor bar; amazing. Most importantly is their private parking lot a block away and valet parking. We will return.

Met up with a former co-worker here one night for dinner and drinks. Neither of us had been here before, and wanted to try a new place. The Pros: Great ambiance. We sat in the outside for dinner and really loved the decor and feeling. The place was fairly busy on a Wednesday night with several large groups. The Middle: Food was decent. Fairly interesting menu. I had an order of the Hot n Honey wings. The wings were large and perfectly cooked. The sauce, however, was neither hot, nor honey. More like a mild buffalo. And the blue cheese probably the worst I've ever had, thankfully the celery was crisp and fresh. My dining companion had the Chicken Pot Pie. Crust was delicious, flavor was good...but the filling was more like soup than a pot pie filling. Pot pie should be thick and rich, this was the opposite. Other dishes that walked past looked decent and interesting, so I'd be willing to give the menu another try. The Cons: Service was terrible. Not only did we have to wait a long time to order, on our drinks, etc...I had a soda water with one refill, and was charged twice for it. I've never been to a place that charges for refills on soda water, let alone refills I had to ask for. Honestly, I shouldn't have been charged at all. My dining companion had a Summer Shandy for $6, which I think is a bit high for that brew. You can't get the extensive tap list outside. One of the reasons we chose this place was for the impressive variety of beers on tap. It was an unpleasant surprise to find the outside bar has a more limited menu, and you can't access the full variety. This was probably the biggest disappointment of the evening. They lost out on an order of beer from me, as nothing in the outdoor bar appealed to me. I probably would have had two beers for the evening, but went with the overpriced soda water since all of the outside beers sucked (ok, I love stouts so summer is tough for me with the IPAs, so the owner needs to reconsider the outdoor selection to appeal to wider variety) No transference of tab. We decided to move inside after eating in order to take advantage of the more extensive list inside, but had to close out our tab outside before moving indoors. It's really as if the patio and the interior area are treated as two different restaurants. This bothered my dining companion more than me, but it didn't make sense. I'll consider going here again because it's close to home and it does have a wide variety of taps, but now I know to stick to the inside so I can actually try the ones I want.

I've been here twice. The first time a group of us ordered off the cocktail menu and every drink was horrible. The second time, we brought a group of 11 people to celebrate. We all ordered food and drinks. One of our party ordered off of the cocktail list and was unsatisfied, so she asked to send the drink back. Then she ordered an appetizer that was inedible. When she asked for it to be replaced, the manager came out and told her he "sensed a pattern" and refused to do anything about it, even though 10 of us had contributed to order drinks. He was unnecessarily rude to our party because his food and drinks were terrible. If you decide to come here, just don't order off the cocktail menu. It's absurd how terrible the drinks are.

Another terrible experience. Once again we were seated for a lengthy amount of time with no server approaching us. We finally had an opportunity to place a drink order. Beer for the husband, wine for me. Waitress comes back 5 minutes later to tell us that the beer is kicked. So he chooses an alternate. Another couple of minutes... That beer is kicked too. Third time's the charm. But seriously, the staff should know immediately what beers are available. We ordered Kennett Square Chicken and the mushroom and carmelized onion jalapeño burger with no BBQ, cooked medium. The chicken was blah, and my burger was cooked well and missing both the mushrooms and onion. Awful. Not that we could have said anything, because nobody ever came by to check how our meals were. Two strikes and we're done. Not worth another try.

I want to love this place . The food is so inconsistent. Today I got chicken Cobb salad which I've had in the past & has been very good. Today the chicken was dry & that ruined the whole $11 salad. Tons of onions that I had to take out because it took over the salad. A few weeks back I went with some co workers & had a cheeseburger with onion & mushroom. So greasy I ate less that 1/2. The cost? $12.50. We do happy hour here often with our company & the beer selection is good but for the food... Overpriced & rarely on the mark. Hope they work the kinks out so we have a good local place to eat.

This place has about the nicest and best service in the area. Unfortunately, if you come after 6PM don't expect to be able to hear yourself think let alone talk to the person next to you. It was recently remodeled and looks great (trendy) but the bar area is right next to the restaurant seating and it tends to draw a fairly rowdy crowd. With that said it only opened a few weeks ago so maybe it will quiet down over time. The beer list is awesome and changes regularly so that will keep me coming back. We both got sandwhiches which were very well crafted for the price. Everything seemed freshly prepared in house so its well worth a try. We also tried their Creme Brule which was awesome. Overall, this is a good place but try it for lunch first to avoid the noisy crowds.

Let's call it 3.5 stars. First time here on a Friday night, four of us sat downstairs and were seated right away. Pet peeve of mine is when the waiters come within two minutes of you being seated. Ours did while we were all looking at the beer and wine menu, we asked her to come back. When she came back a minute later we were still looking at the drink menus, she took our drink order and asked if we wanted to put in any appetizers. A little frustrated that she was a little pushy-I'm pretty sure it was obvious none of us had even opened our menus. I don't know - just a little thing. Food was decent, I ordered fish and chips and tried some Italian sausage flat bread. Note to self: the flat bread is big and does not need an accompaniment. Overall, it was okay. Would like go to back and try something else!

Very nice inside and excellent outdoor patio! Food is well prepared just a bit more expensive than your average. Servers here have always been very friendly and helpful. Love Sunday nights on the patio!! Try the cheesesteak potstickers and they will rock your world.

Really WANTED to like this place. Went there on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. The most impressive thing about this place is by far the décor. The restaurant is definitely very impressive from an aesthetic standpoint. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. First, our drink order. I was just drinking water and my husband ordered a Victory Summer Love. About 5 minutes later the waitress comes back to say that they have "multiple types" of Summer Love, which was strange but we figured out she was referring to bottles vs cans. My husband pointed to the one he saw in the menu, which was in the "Specialty Canned Beers" section or something similarly titled. Ok, that was settled. Except 5 minutes later she comes back to say that they actually have NO Summer Love at all in either bar. Ummmm, ok. So my husband orders a Damnation (Russian River), a $10 premium beer that's sold corked with the whole metal top thing (my husband orders it often in bars that have it). We can see the server bring it out and show it to the bartender. Both kind of look at the bottle as if it's some strange foreign object from the future. Finally they open it and the waitress brings it and plops it on the table with no mention of providing a glass, as if were a Bud Light. Ok, whatever, not a huge deal. Finally we order our food. My husband orders the Fish Tacos ($18, menu states that comes with fries), the waitress confirms that fries are ok with that on the side. He said yes. I ordered a bowl of French onion soup and chicken fingers (menu states the fingers come with a blue cheese dipping sauce). The waitress also confirms with me if fries are ok on the side, I say yes. A short while later the food comes out. She puts down the fish tacos and says, actually the fries only come with the DINNER meals and that "we're still on lunch". Apparently she had given us the dinner menu. Um, so basically you confirmed that we wanted fries when you took our order, and now you're telling us we can't have them?? And it wasn't like she said "Oh, sorry for the mixup, I'll bring you a side of fries on the house". So we decided to ORDER a side of fries to share. All that was on the plate of chicken fingers that she brought was a tiny dish of KETCHUP. Ketchup?? What happened to the blue cheese dipping sauce that was on the menu? I mention it and she starts saying something about how the normal chef isn't there and that she just put "whatever" on the plate because she didn't know what it came with! I asked if they had honey mustard somewhere, she said yes and that they would bring it. Fine. She finally comes back with the honey mustard. By this time my husband had finished his Damnation. She asks if he would like another, he changes to just a draft Yuengling instead. Hard to screw up. She comes back in another 5 minutes with ANOTHER DAMNATION. When we brought to her attention that he had ordered Yuengling, she was apologetic and offered to swap it out, but my husband didn't bother asking her to switch it at that point. After all of our plates had been cleared and we had nothing left to eat or drink, we had to flag her down because she was talking to another waitress (restaurant was practically empty). When we got the bill, noticed that we still got charged for the dinner portion of the fish tacos ($18), even though we didn't get the side it was supposed to come with!! So not only did we pay the full $18 for the dinner portion that should have COME with fries, but we were also charged $3 for the side of fries! This place LOOKS amazing, but definitely should have invested as much in finding experienced help as they did in the décor. Not sure we will go back. My husband DID like the fish tacos. Along with the décor, that was the only highlight.

After hearing numerous reviews & reading several favorable ones about 23 Taproom my wife, father in law, & I decided to give dinner a go. Before venturing in w/ the whole crew on a Sunday night my starving wife dispatched me to expeditiously inquire if the establishment could accommodate two small children & three adults. I posed that question to the lone hostess & she said that "the tap room could accommodate just about anyone." With that being said I popped into the bathroom & noticed that there was no changing table & there also was no toilet paper. Since those minor issues aren't usually deal breakers & was now in a real hurry went ahead & rallied the family for dinner. Parking was a breeze however we were not seated right away even w/ the advanced notice. After we were seated the high chair for the baby did not arrive till several minutes later. Eventually our server did make it over to take the drink orders. The nonalcoholic drinks were served very quickly but no trace of beer. Ten endless minutes later our server returned to tell us about the nights specials & take our appetizer order. At that time we were told by the ever vigilant hostess that our child carrier should be stowed in the back since it was going to be in the way of a six top that was about to be seated behind us. That initial ordering phase went smoothly & the reason why beers had not yet been delivered was also addressed. Reason being, "the bar printer is down." Ten minutes or so later the appetizers were brought out & everything we ordered was delicious. Only problem was that the taproom had not yet provided anything from the tap in over 20 minutes. After the baby had eaten some really good Mac & Cheese she fell asleep in the high chair so I asked the hostess to bring our car carrier back so the baby could sleep comfortably. The carrier was quickly returned & we took the sleeping baby out of the high chair, flipped the high chair over, placed & secured the baby in the carrier & put it back in the high chair. Then I pulled the high chair up to the table & braced it w/ my foot to secure it. At this point the first beer finally arrived & I promptly ordered a second w/ the hopes it would be served before we left. A minute or two after this a server from another section came over & told us that " you cannot have the high chair flipped over w/ the baby in it like that." My wife & I both questioned her as to what she was talking about & her response was a quick about face & disappeared into the kitchen. Then the hostess came over & in a very outspoken & confrontational manner said that the manager had said that "you cannot have the high chair flipped over w/ the baby in it like that." My response to that ridiculous statement was that she needed to get the manager so that we could be offered clarification about the situation & then to please bring the check. I didn't want to leave because the food had been so good but at that point was so upset by these two unwarranted & idiotic intrusions & that getting a beer was just about an impossibility it was time to go. The check arrived well before Patrick the manager did & after a brief discussion as to what the problem was he said that he had never said that about the high chair & that is exactly what the highchair was there for & that we shouldn't leave. I told him the dining experience had been ruined & we were going to pay the bill & be on our way out. Patrick graciously said we did not have to pay a cent & that we should come back & he would personally accommodate us. That was all well & good & we really appreciated all that Patrick did for us & for the clarification that the servers & hostesses were not operating on the same page as management but we really left w/ a bitter attitude about the taproom.

I've been to this restaurant for brunch, dinner and happy hour. First off, they have a great beer selection (they even had Piney the Elder on tap once). Food is also very good and prices are right on target. There's plenty of parking nearby and the restaurant itself is very nice since it was recently remodeled. The outdoor section is huge with plenty of TVs but they don't have all the beers outside that they have on tap inside. I've read some reviews on here that say service is slow and a few times that has been the case. However, we haven't had that problem the last few times we went, maybe they hired extra servers in Spring? It does get a bit loud inside if it's full, I'd probably sit outside if noise is an annoyance to you. Only other bit of advice is their nachos, while HUGE, had soggy chips which I think ruins nachos. But every other app we tried was awesme. Happy eating!

Met a large group at Taphouse 23 last night The staff was friendly and very accommodating! We sat at a large 'fire table' at the outside bar-with a water/light feature behind us! We had nachos, salads, burgers and drinks! A perfect July 3rd

TL;DR - The service was terrible and the food was mediocre at best. Let me give full disclosure that this was the grand opening weekend on a Friday night and that I was with a large party. With that said and how the service (if you can call it that) ended up, this was a terrible first impression and the owners should have staffed accordingly for a high volume of people. My party made reservations because we were gathering for a special occasion. My girlfriend and I were the first ones to arrive, about five minutes before the reservation time so we just put our name in. It was getting to be half an hour wait at this point, which was fine--it was busy. About half of our party had arrived. One of us asked the hostesses what the estimated wait time was, she said it would be maybe about 15 or so minutes. No, no, no. Fifteen minutes came and went, and eventually one of the owners asked us to move out of the foyer area and cram down at the bar. It was understandable at first because the foyer was becoming congested from so many people waiting. However, it seemed like an "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. No hostess, waitress, or the owner checked on us from this point out. An hour has passed by, someone else went to talk to the hostesses. They said to wait a few more minutes, they needed to clear space upstairs for our party. Another half hour has passed. Someone goes up again and they say it will be 10 minutes. Finally after 15-20 minutes, a space is cleared and we are seated. Yes, practically TWO hours of waiting just to get seated. Even with a reservation. This place was painfully understaffed, and it was apparent. Before I talk about the food and waitresses, let me just say that when all was said and done, the ONLY thing the owner did to "make up for" the atrocious wait and lack of communication was coming by and talk to one or two of the people in our party and apologized. This guy either has zero experience in customer service or is just a cheapskate. No complimentary drinks or appetizers or anything (technically, but I'll get to that later). I know people who have worked and run restaurants--this whole situation is unacceptable, at least if you want people to come back. This might have been more acceptable if the food was phenomenal and the waitresses were great. This was not the case. Some of the food was mediocre at best, and some of it was downright insulting--certainly not worth the wait. Our party had two waitresses, a blonde and a brunette. The blonde one knew what she was doing--she was basically the only person in this place who seemed to know what she was doing. The brunette, who my girlfriend I mainly dealt with, was definitely not very experienced or adept at her job. She took down some of the orders around the table, I had ordered an entree already at this point, and sometime afterwards, she says to someone else that she is only taking appetizer orders right now... Why not start out by saying that. Eventually we get our food, my girlfriend ordered two appetizers: Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, which she said was pretty good (although not as good as the ones at other places like Iron Hill Brewery), and Philly soft pretzels, which literally tasted like they came from a tube at the supermarket. The texture was unpleasant and it did not taste fresh at all. We normally never do this, but the pretzels were that bad (and overpriced for what they were at $8) so we ended up having them take it off of our bill. The couple next to us were not impressed with their food either and said their sandwich was only OK. The bread they used as the bun was a strange choice--it was a yellow bun, so maybe a potato or cornbread. And the "homemade fries" they said tasted like store bought--nothing special. So I said we didn't get any complimentary food earlier--this is true, but our waitress messed up someone else's order, so we ended up with that appetizer for free. I finished my food pretty early because it came out with the appetizers, and I guess the brunette saw my place was empty so I got another wildmushroom flat, except this time a lot of the flat bread (this was not what I was expecting, btw, it's more like a paper thin cracker than flat bread) was pretty much burnt in most spots. So the ONLY reason we got anything "complimentary" was because the waitress messed up, twice. Also, by the time checks and desserts started to roll around, another girl in our party ordered the chocolate lava cake and ice cream. Everyone started getting their desserts (someone else actually got the same dessert) and checks--it must have been at least 20 minutes, maybe closer to 30, until they brought hers out. She was not a happy customer, understandably. It honestly wouldn't have been as bad if the management actually tried to communicate better and maybe offer a free appetizer or something, but there was literally zero attempts to make the experience any better. Go elsewhere like Iron Hill. Better food, better service.

We just moved to burbs from the city. I know suburban restaurants will never measure up to what we're used to with our No Libs favorites - N. 3rd and Standard Tap, but this was just bad all around. Is it really that difficult to make decent pub food? To start, they were out of two of the 3 kinds of beer we ordered. The tap beer selection is pretty extensive and not all beers are familiar. We ordered another kind from the menu in lieu of what was out - here's a thought - maybe the waitress could suggest a sample or perhaps mentioning how hoppy the beer is OR describe the beers on your the beer list. I ordered the roasted pork sandwich. The fries were RAW. It's not that hard to make fries. The deep frier does all the work. The sandwich could've benefited from being made with pulled pork and perhaps the broccoli rabe could've been more finely tuned. My husband got the pot pie. While it was flavorful, it was far too liquidy and like a runny broth. My sister said her steak salad was decent. I'd say it's kind of hard to screw that up, but then again, they screwed up french fries. Our server was friendly, but never came back around to refill water and only checked in at the end of the meal. My husband didn't drink his beer, you would've thought the waitress might have noticed that and asked if he liked it or not. Nope. We didn't stick around for dessert. Two stars strictly because this place is new and maybe they'll get their act together, but I doubt we'll be back.

Giving it three stars for potential....as with any new place, I expect some growing pains....of which there were several. It took a long time to get our drinks, both initially and during dinner. We were actually almost done with our entrees when the beers came out. Hubby needed his beverage because his meal was overly-salted (the steak, the asparagus and esp. the mashed potatoes). Our server could tell we were under-whelmed, and stated that the kitchen wants the feedback. Maybe next time. My flatbread was really good, though...goat cheese and mushroom. Our server, though slow, did seem eager to please. The beer lists (both tap and bottle) were diverse and interesting. I am a fan of local, non-chain places, so I want to give it another shot.

Much improved from any of the previous restaurants/bars that occupied the location. The decor and menu seemed to be very well thought out, and also well executed. Both seemed to have a solid blend of proven standards with a sense of adventure. Service was adequate and friendly, but not overly impressive, and the food did not dissapoint or impress. We had the French Onion Soup, Chicken Francaise, and Oyster PoBoy. All turned out to be solid choices. The prices were 100% inline with all of this though as it was a very reasonably priced meal. I feel it was a drastically better value than any of the chain restaurants in the area and price range. If I could give an honest appraisal, I would definitely recommend Taphouse 23 as long as you keep your expectations inline with the location and price range. Very decent place with great potential for upside, and low risk of dissatisfaction.

So so experience. Only went for an after dinner drinks, but we weren't impressed. The downstairs bar was completely full so we went to the upstairs bar which was empty except for a private party. When we sat down at the bar, there was no bartender for a Saturday night which we found odd. The waitress took our order and we ended up with the same beer when she returned even though we ordered different ones. It wasn't the end of the world, so we drank them both. By the time 10PM rolled around the entire restaurant was empty so we headed home disappointed but decided to come back and try the outdoor deck which looked more exciting.

This review is based on 2 visits to this new restaurant (opened late October 2014) Both times my husband and I sat at the bar. Taphouse 23 is beautiful restaurant. Bartenders/Service was friendly and efficient, beer selection is top notch. On our first visit we shared a couple of appetizers - calamari and a flat bread and both were quite good. On our second visit, we tried the rock shrimp appetizer and the chicken sandwich, both also very good. Overall experience was really good and we will be returning again soon.

Last night I had the mussels with spicy marinara sauce and it was delicious! Tonight it was the cheese burger. It was cooked perfectly served on a fresh bun and tasted juicy and flavorful. The wait staff is knowledgable and friendly always knowing when to fill your glass! Great place to visit often!

This was my second time at the Taphouse 23. The first time was for dinner and it was a GREAT experience! Our server was phenomenal and everything was quick and delicious. I decided to come back for happy hour and unfortunately was not impressed. They had two beers on special for the happy hour.. both if those kegs were kicked and the bartender wasn't aware. A little disappointed in that. Also I felt like the bartenders stayed on one side talking to a couple of people the entire time. Refills weren't very quick and it wasn't very busy at all. The food still looked good and it does have the best atmosphere around. I would still recommend trying this place out. And the outside bar looks like it will be amazing!

Went with a group for drinks early Thursday evening. Service was slow slow slow! Waited 10 mins for each drink and it wasn't even busy. Not sure if it was our waitress or the bar staff. But very disappointed.

Our visit started with the wait staff apparently squabbling over who would handle our corner of the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes until someone approached our table (as did the adjoining table). No wine list was offered. We ordered nachos which came out cold and coagulated. While my chicken pot pie was ok, my wife's turkey burger seemed deep fried. Rather than refill my water glass, the waiter took it away and I had to ask for another. My beer (Racer IPA) was good, my wife's wine was ok, but at $11 and a mystery without a wine list may or may not have been overpriced. We won't be back.

I have been here three times and each time the beer is awesome, the food is great, and the service is very helpful and friendly. I consider myself your average joe when it comes to a good restaurant and this is just about perfect. The restaurant is very visually appealing as well. I take off one star because I miss the scotch ale I had two times ago and the taps rotate beers in and out which can be a good thing, but I miss that ale :p

Interesting place for Bridgeport. It will be interesting to see if it can last there, considering it seems to inspire to be like a place in Philadelphia or West Chester, but Bridgeport may not be ready. Who knows. Anyway, for a place that prides itself on its beer, it was quite surprising to get a draft beer in a hot glass right out of the dishwasher - 3 times! Also, having the male know-it-all bartenders act like they are the only ones who could possibly know anything about beer is tiresome, and put me on the defensive. Who needs that - especially when I am just trying to relax and have a nice night out. I think they need to take lessons in humility from the bartenders at Bagataway that is just up the road in West Conshohocken. The food was okay, but the menu said the chips were "homemade". Rally? I suspect Goods or wherever they bought the chips did not make them in their house. What a let down, considering that my wife read a review that said the homemade chips were good. Perhaps they ran out and their local 7/11 was their only option? Not sure if I will go back.

Not coming back! Tons of bugs outside! After we complained to a server about the bugs in our food she said she will get a manager. Manager never came over to our table... Food is ehhh, drinks are ok... Not worth it!!!

My friend and I went for dinner the other night as I was back in town for a visit; and we LOVED it! The food was excellent, great drink selection, and excellent service! From the minute we walked in the staff was friendly. Yet what totally swayed us was our server, Laura! She was super attentive, funny & made us feel like we were old friends visiting and eating at her kitchen. It was such an enjoyable atmosphere and next time I'm back in Philly, I'll be back! Thanks again for an amazing time!

The decor is really, really beautiful. Such attention to detail, from the beer growler light fixtures to the old beer brewing instructions wallpapered on the bathroom stalls. Ample seating for diners and a huge bar area. We decided to make a meal out of appetizers, and were impressed with the quality of food, as well as the portion sizes. They had a kids menu (also with huge portions), although I was worried the kids would spill their drinks because they arrived in regular drinking glasses; plastic lidded cups would have been nice. The prices, although not cheap, were a good value for the quantity and quality of food. The bottled beer selection was amazing, as well as some decent local microbrews on tap, like Victory and Sly Fox. Of course, they still had basic American brews like Yuengling to please the masses. My only complaint is that the service, although friendly, was inconsistent. When we first arrived we had a number of people attending to our table, to the point where we almost felt rushed. However, when it came time to pay the bill, the server had a tough time splitting the bill (and we were told that the server was down), and we waited almost an hour for our tab to be returned to us before we could leave!! We arrived home to discover that the take-out growler we ordered was the wrong beer!! I really, really want to see this place succeed and think it has amazing potential if they can work out the initial growing pains and service issues. I was pleased to see that the place was absolutely packed when we left, and I am anxious to return (without kids) to try more menu items. I think they strike a good balance between being a more upscale establishment that is still something the average neighborhood patron can enjoy. I could also see it appealing to folks from Conshy or KOP. Hopefully they will sort out the initial growing pains, because this place has definite potential!

Great food. Great beer selection. Great place to watch sports. Amazing food. This place has such a great vibe. If I was a local, they would know my name. This needs to be your first stop when you're in the area.

I was in a few weeks ago. The food is top notch, which I wasn't expecting in Bridgeport. The service was impeccable (ask for Laura! She's the best!). Everything was great. I have literally ZERO negative to say. I'll be back!

Review is based on 2 visits. Really good beer selection. Bartender guy that served us had very good working knowledge of all the beers on tap and in bottle/cans. This is a great spot to watch sports although a more aggressive "specials" program would get me there more often with friends that just want Lite ($5 for draft Lite) Food is good and improving; Flavors are good, portions are very good. Wings are "gourmet" and, IMO, need to be simpler and crisper; When asked, we talked to the chef about this and he brought us out a different style to try and get our opinion on. Crab cake entrée, Mac n cheese, chicken sausage (minus roll), firecracker shrimp, chicken pot pie were all great. Scallops had good flavors and presentation although very slightly under cooked for my taste (another 30-60 secs would have been welcome). Tuna wontons fell apart on me so I was eating more of a tuna and avocado tartare mess. As mentioned in other reviews *** GM *** get kids cups with lids. Kids menu was well received. I have had great service in bar area + good service at hostess stand and table upstairs. I suspect more time in the system will improve service response. Bus servers did a good job picking up slack for the stuff that keeps kids happy. We look forward to our next meal there and the outdoor area in the spring.

Beautifully renovated. Great homemade food. love the chicken pot pie with melt in your mouth flaky buttery crust. Nice relaxed and stylish atmosphere but far and away the charm of The Taphouse is in its charming and attentive servers. We had a young girl named Megan who was outstanding. She was funny, patient, gracious, and very attentive. Will definitely be back again. This is my new favorite restaurant/ bar. All of the servers we have had have been great but she was just fantastic. Her positive attitude and sparking personality made the night very special.

We had a party of more than 20 a few weeks ago and we had a blast at Taphouse. 23, just a really nice time. We did have reservations and I was happy that they were prepared for us. We all really enjoyed the shared apps and a lot of thought went into this menu because it is not a very large menu but it has just enough, well thought out choices from burgers to dinners to accommodate everyone. I don't know if it was just really good day or what but they were crowded and yet we received very, very good service. To be honest, I think we waited for our 1st drink order a little too long, maybe 15 minutes...not too bad for a large party, but after that, the apps, entrees and desserts all rolled out smoothly. I could go on & on... the food was GREAT as was the service. It was a chilly Saturday afternoon. I drove by Taphouse 23 last night on my way home from work and people were enjoying the outside patio which looked really cool. I can't wait to go back. I really like what they did to this place; kind of a cross between a hang out and high end restaurant and I mean this in the best possible way. A little loud it's true but all in all it is a very comfortable place!

Beer selection is excellent. That being said that's it. Food is okay but not worth the prices. Think Cheesecake Factory but not as good. Also it seems they want you to make reservations rather then just walk in. You go in and there are 3 hostesses, which is strange for a place that is 500 sq feet, that look at you like you're bothering them. Ask for a table and they look around like they have know idea what to do then say they're full when you can see empty tables. Was told I could wait for an hour and they might have something open. So I took out my phone and made a reservation for 10 minutes later. How can you be booked if I can make a reservation for 6:45 at 6:35? And you tell me maybe a table will open at 7:30-8? I do love the local beer selection though. Probably go back but just sit at the bar.

Back in January I posted a very favorable review based on three visits. However, three subsequent visits have displayed flaws in food preparation. First, stay away from the meatballs, bland and not cooked properly, could hardly cut them.Second the buffalo wings had good sauce but no one in Buffalo would ever eat wings coated with flour and the wings themselves were rubbery. I never had blue cheese dressing that tasted like milk. Finally a second order or beef and cheese identified the beef as grishly. Hate to complain since staff and atmosphere are excellent but a million dollar restaurant is only good if someone is on site and in charge.

Went here to just watch the Flyers game on 12/13. I sat at the bottom floor bar, there were two waitresses at the bar, a blonde and a brunette. The blonde was very friendly, but the brunette had a strange demeaner on her. I ordered crispy friend calamari and cheese steak, food was great. Atmosphere was friendly and clean. Towards the end I decided to order desert to go, and the brunette just downright insulted me.... I would come back for the great food and atmosphere, but I hope not to see the brunette at the bar again...

Having been born and raised in the area I have to say what a breath of fresh air this place is for Bridgeport!! There is NOTHING that comes even close to what the Taphouse 23 has to offer! My family and I were so impressed with the beautiful atmosphere and even more impressed and pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and how amazing EVERY dish we had from appetizers to dessert!! And the selection of craft beers left little to be desired for us "beer nerds". The house salad was to die for and left me wanting to lick my bowl!! Our entrees were excellent and the dessert was the perfect conclusion to a perfectly delicious meal! Definitely making this one of our regular stops!!!

Wow! I don't even know where to start. As we pulled up to the restaurant we could see that there was an option to valet, but we choose to park in their large lot just across the street. Upon entering, we notice the amazing details from the lights, to the artwork, to the wood details and it is just so beautifully renovated. The staff was friendly, beer selection is phenomenal, food was delicious, and it was just an overall great experience. They are not even two months old yet, but they are doing it right. I am so excited for the patio to open. I will definitely be spending a lot of time here.

Casual fare. Great casual fare. Is it getting 5 stars because it is as good as Capital Grille? No. It's getting 5 stars for having outstanding casual fare, probably some of the best in the area. Fantastic selection of bottled and draft beer. Really cool themed motif inside. And, my hot button? Service. Was just great, no complaints. Food presentation very creative, no details were overlooked. Bonus: newly opened establishment, still looks pristine and clean inside. It is part of the gentrification of Bridgeport in a mixed commercial / residential area. Highly recommended, will gladly return. My dinner companions will also attest to the great experience.

Our dinner started out well. We were seated immediately and the waitress, Nicole, came over and asked us for our drink order. We got a flight followed by a Manhattan and a dirty martini. Tonight was a prie fixe menu so we ordered our whole meal. We ordered lobster bisque, ceasers salad, calamari, surf and turf, and veal Oscar. The lobster bisque we was to die for. The caesar salad was good. The calamari was good and we could tell it was made right before it was brought out. That is where the good stopped! From this point forward the experience was diminished. We were never given bread but every other couple, including those being waited on by Nicole, did have bread. My wife's surf and turf was not cooked properly. The lobster was very tough from being overlooked and her steak, which was ordered medium, came out with certain areas almost rare. Even I who always orders medium rare didn't want to eat it. We told Nicole about it when my wife got to the second half of the steak which was under cooked and she said she would have taken it back but nothing was done otherwise. My veal was good. The desert came out right away. The four courses were served on under and hour and seemed rushed. When we were done desert it took Nicole 15 minutes or so to come for the check... What seemed like fast service that we hadn't really complained about halted and we sat with no drinks and no food waiting for her to come get the check. We were also overcharged for the beer flight and Nicole claimed we weren't being overcharged but that the system just writes it as if it's more but when added up we were being overcharged. She took the overcharge off and we paid the bill and left. I had high hopes for his place but was not impressed. The drinks were good and the place looks great but I probably wouldn't return, it's nothing great!

Heard and read about the hype surrounding Taphouse 23 and thought we would drive out of our way and head to Bridgeport for the 15 minute drive. This was our first time. First impressions were amazing! The outside of the building and the inside felt like you could be in a small Colorado town. Unfortunately, this is about all it delivered. We sat in the bar area at a hightop. We were greeted a few times with intros from various people telling us they were going to be our server (not a bad thing except when you have already ordered drinks, etc. from the first person). Just kind of says we dont really have our table assignments down but whatever. Not a big deal. We moved on to ordering and the menu had some great options. The prices seemed in line if the food was exceptional. It was good but not great. We ordered from the sandwich menu. We did see a few items from tables close by that looked amazing and would have have liked to have been steered in that direction. When asked for help from our server the response was how much do you want to spend?? um ok. Next. The 2nd beer never got to me for whatever reason before we were ready to leave and ordered 15 minutes before that. It was not that busy so that is why I am pointing it out. Overall, we both agreed we were disappointed in our experience and would have liked to share it to help them make this place better. Wish them much success.

The service and the food quality is very inconsistent. I think if a restaurant is going to be good you have to trust them and I have been in multiple times to poor food quality and service. Same place just a nicer building. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here for a nice dinner.

Our first visit since the renovation was last night. My husband and I visited a couple times when it was The Point, and he remembers it as Friendship Grill. Parking was a pain, although after a couple loops around the block we noticed they have complimentary valet and there is a lot just a block away. We were pleasantly surprised by the remodel, they obviously gutted it and started over. As the Point, we went there a few times and were usually the only customers. Last night it was busy! The atmosphere was nice. We were seated in the 2nd floor, which was a bit quieter than the 1st. The server was a bit scattered, a little slow with drinks and refills. We ordered the calamari and the hummus apps, both were very good. His aunt got the house salad and a burger, my husband got a burger and I got the mushroom flatbread. No complaints about the food. After the apps, I could only eat half of the flatbread. We all split a desert. We had 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine, and a couple sodas for the table and the bill was $93....not bad at all! We will definitely visit again. There were also plans on display for an outdoor patio area that looks like it will be really nice come summer.

Amazing place. A little off the beaten path, but a real gem. Decor is awesome, I had the seafood fra diavlo and it was too notch. The placed was spacious and packed on the Friday night we were there. Beer selection was the best I've seen in the area.

Back in town on vacation, my teenaged boys and I had lunch at Taphouse 23. We were all thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, yet upscale. The decor is stunning. My younger son had a burger with carmelized onions and homemade potato chips. My older son had the chicken pot pie and I had the flat iron steak salad. I also had a Shiner Holiday on draft - a pleasant surpise, as it's only available in bottles back home. Portion sizes were generous and the food was excellent - fresh, perfectly cooked, well-seasoned. Our server, Laura, was attentive, professional and friendly. The manager came by the table to see how everything was. We were pretty full, but had to try some desserts. Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, Creme Brulee and Chocolate Molten Cake - all delicious. We will be back to Taphouse 23 on our next visit - maybe even again this trip! Nothing like it anywhere around.
