Suzy-Jo Donuts is by far the best thing to happen to a small town like Bridgeport. Among the three locations, this is the one that is on my way to work and after passing it for months, I stopped to grab two dozens for my coworkers. What better day to stop than on National Donut Day! Yes, they were busy and there was a line but they were cranking out to those donuts so fast - they just kept bringing them out. Hands down the BEST donuts I've ever had. I've already had numerous people tell me this is the best donut they've ever had. Made fresh everyday and the I love giving my business to local businesses!

Suzy-Jo Donuts are almost fabled in the Montgomery County suburbs of Philadelphia. They have earned this positive regard. While they now have three locations, the busiest is still the original one in Bridgeport. Busy is the key word here as they open at 5:30 in the morning and by late morning not much is left from their large variety of offerings. By early afternoon you will only a selection of one or two varieties. At 2:30 they close for the day. This is the only donut place I know that can give Beiler's in the Reading Market a run for their money. Try every kind of donut and fritter they sell - they are all tasty. Just don't try them all at once!

Oh dear god. Two words APPLE FRITTERS!!! Hopefully when you've finally decide to make your life a little bit better by stopping in, they have some left. You will not be disappointed.

At the risk of being redundant here, Suzy Jo Donuts will basically ruin you for just about every other donut shop around. They're that good. Yes, even my beloved buttercream filled donut from Viking Pastries in Ardmore has just been downgraded. That is saying something, my friends. I stopped in this morning on my way to Jury Duty in Norristown. The shop itself looks just like every old school bakery you've ever been in. Not too fancy, not glitzy, warm and smelling of heaven. They have a very broad selection of donuts. I chose a powdered Bavarian Creme, Coconut and a Glazed, so I could get a broad sense of their offerings. Bavarian Creme was filled donut heaven. No icky artificial "creme". It was not overly sweet, great texture, enrobed by the donut cake. Coconut donut was likewise well balanced, great taste and flavor. Glazed was not soggy (a pet peeve), well sugared with a nice yeasty flavor. Service was friendly and prompt, prices were very reasonable as well. I'm told the cream rolls are popular, as are the cherry cream and chocolate covered Bavarian. I will definitely be back to sample these for the sake of all you Yelpers. It's a sacrifice, I know, one I am willing to make for the team.

I love this place. There donuts are always fresh and the prices are always great. Coffee is ehh. But they're known for their donuts so I can't complain. I come here about every week and a half. Staff is always friendly and makes conversation. I never have an unpleasant experience, every so often they sell out of common donuts which is a bummer but come early and you'll get a good selection to choose from

Suzy-Jo's is the best thing to happen to the locals in awhile, as any Dunkin ruins the reputation of these holy gifts from god. Recently Suzy-Jo's hired their prices, and I'm glad because I don't mind paying a couple cents more to ensure quality and care is put into place. My favorite thing here are all the creative doughnuts! Strawberry and Cream is awesome, and so is the Maple Bacon doughnut. The only thing I dislike is the environment. It could be more professional looking inside, with very little work. One store represents all it's products. Also, and this goes for all the Suzy-Jo's, they could have a larger menu. If you want to keep it small fine, but DD and Starbucks are successful for a reason, sometimes I want something else, not just a Doughnut, or the same bland coffee. People can come in fours, all with different cravings. All potential customers, but not here.

Visited this place a month or so ago just before the listed closing time of 3pm. Donuts were largely tasty (not much of a fan of the peanut butter flavored filling, though) and the workers were pleasant. Tried to visit again today around 2:35pm and as soon as I opened the door I was greeted by a very gruff "CLOSED" shout from the woman behind the counter. She seemed unapologetic when I let her know that Yelp says they are open until 3pm and that they should probably update the information if it's incorrect. Not the best experience.

OK ladies and gentlemen Suzy-Jo does not play around when it comes into making a donut. These guys are colossal, huge in size, I'm sorry to say , actually I'm not but they make Dunkin Donuts look like a joke. Krispy Kreme does not match up either with Suzy Jo, basically this little lady runs things in the donut realm. Fresh cake style donuts made every day for you to enjoy, family owned and ran since the '50s. They make creative donuts, also they are not small, I think I mentioned that earlier. Filled donuts , and I mean they are filled, where others give it one shot where you need to eat two thirds of the donut just to find the filling. Its doesn't matter where you bite into it your gonna taste the filling. I loved the peanut butter fluff, along with the Bavarian (aka. Boston Cream ). This is a great establishment, great staff , fresh coffee, and a warm inviting smell of fresh donuts ! You can't go wrong here, also I will bet you can't eat more than 2 of their filled donuts, one and a half I am willing to say. Donut rankings as of now, Federal you're next up to bat. 1) Suzy-Jo 2) everyone else can battle for second in my opinion

Every time I go visit my sister in law and family we stop by early early Saturday to get these donuts! Yummy..... The best!

How on Earth did I grow up 10 minutes from this place and never visit as a child?! That tragedy aside, the reviews are accurate: - Easy parking - Good value - Wide selection (although several of the flavors I wanted to try - including peanut butter fluff - had sold out by mid-morning) - Excellent fresh donuts that held up well over several days. (I bought way more than I could eat in a single day.) I bought an assortment and have to say that the Cream Stick and Coconut Cream were probably my favorites, with Blueberry a surprise contender as well. Stellar.

Suzy Jo makes one mean classic donut. The sour-cream, old fashioned chocolate donut glazed with dripping, opaque clear frosting is worth having an amorous affair with. Moist and chewy: these donuts are the perfect hybrid between dense brownies and fluffy chocolate foodcake. But...the fluffy donuts are just on par with Dunkin and Winchells and Genuardis. So grab some

i'm not even a big fan of doughnuts, but if they are suzy-jo, you best believe i'm stuffing my face! they are amazing!

  • James W.

Just sayin, if you like donuts do yourself a favor and get hard chocolate and sour cream. If you are not amazed, give up eating donuts forever! Not to mention the staff who work on sat mornings are so nice!

I warn you now, your arteries will not like this place! But your taste buds will thank you for bringing them there! Family run business for almost 50 years...I have never actually set foot in the store, however, a coworker brings them into the office about twice a month and I'm always anxious to see what he brings back! The "filled" donuts are total and complete gluttony! a delicious range of fillings that will knock your socks off...I tend to stick to the milk and dark chocolate iced donuts tho...it tastes like they melted a hershey bar over top of the donuts...soooo goood! They also sell these donuts in other local establishments...for example the Collegeville Italian Bakery has some available every morning... Stop in to a true family run business and sample their goods. If you think America runs on Dunkin, you could be mistaken! Note: the prices on the webpage are a bit outdated as of today...I think a dozen donuts is 8.50, only 51 cents more than dunkin, but a bit more than the 7.00 on the webpage...

I can no longer eat their donuts, having developed celiac disease. BUT! They are damn good.

  • H. B.

I stop by almost every Thursday to buy a dozen donuts for my staff meeting with my technicians as a thank you for their hard work on my projects. I also grab coffee for myself. We all love the donuts. In fact, if I skip a week due to time, they groan. Parking is plenty and they entire trip in and out is under 5 mins. My wife stops in earlier each day for their coffee. She love the taste and the sip lids they use. I use my own travel cup. A dozen donuts and a cup of coffer is just under $11.00.

  • Dustin M.

I usually just get donuts here for my office. I'll have to take a shot at a hard cake too, because they look great on the shelf. They won't serve you anything that isn't 100% fresh. The donuts are great: soft and chewy with a variety of fillings. And the prices... fuggedaboutit! So cheap!! A dozen donut holes for a buck!!! I can't stop using exclamation points!!!!

I've never been a huge doughnut fan but Suzy Joes changes everything. The apple fritters are out of this world !

Suzy-Jo is the place to go for donuts in the western Philly burbs. Holy cow. Always fresh, never had a bad donut, but I always look forward to fall when they have their pumpkin with cream cheese frosting...seriously, if it were socially acceptable to make love to a donut, I would....and a sweet, sweet love it would be. Word of advice, if you're looking for a large order, either call the day before, or get there early.

  • Brett O.

Fabulous example of a small business that produces a great product at a reasonable price. The doughnuts are huge, freshly made, and cost very little. My mouth is watering for the cherry filled doughnut as we speak...

I've driven by Suzie-Jo's for YEARS before finally stopping in to sample the goods. After one bite, I swiftly kicked myself for waiting so long. Their donuts are fantastic. Better than cake. Better than cupcakes. And they're always fresh. Sadly, I'm not a morning person. And since Suzy-Jo closes up shop sometime around 2:30, I have to make a real effort to get my fix.

Hard Chocolate - Amazing Glazed - Amazing Raised Chocolate Iced - Amazing Raised Chocolate Iced w/Jimmies- Amazing Raised Vanilla Iced - Amazing Peanut Butter - Amazing Sour Cream Plain/Glazed - Amazing Powdered Jelly - Amazing Chocolate Bavarian - Amazing Coconut (cake) - Really Good Apple Fritter - Amazing I will update the list when I can (one day) resist ordering the hard chocolate and Chocolate Bavarian. I started out as a Raised Chocolate Iced guy, but I've since become a Hard Chocolate guy. My dream is that one day they offer one of my childhood favorites: Powered Lemon Filled. There is no competition with Suzy-Jo Donuts. Dunkin Donuts, WaWa, Starbucks, and even the coveted Tim Horton's (for all you Canadians) pale in comparison. I can't say for sure how Krispy Kreme measures up as I've admittedly never been to a brick and mortar Krispy Kreme store. Ambler Donuts is also on my list to compare. Their coffee is fine if a bit weak, but it suffices if I don't make my own coffee on a Suzy-Jo Day. (Yes, we have Suzy-Jo days approximately once a week and they're almost as good as Christmas.) If we're being honest, I might go to Starbucks or Palm Tree Market for a stronger cup if I had the time. As an update to Jillian P's review from 2009: 6 donuts will run you $5.50 these days (I think a full dozen is still under $9) and credit cards are accepted.

One of the best donut shops I have ever been to. Fresh donuts with a great variety.

Real homemade donuts make all the difference! They have great flavors here including peanut butter and fruit fillings. They still smelled heavenly and fresh when we brought them back to the office. Nobody could resist. I heard it's best to go early in the morning, but they were still delicious when I went in the afternoon. Makes me never want to go to Dunkin Donuts ever again.

What's better than a powdered creme donut? A GLAZED creme donut! Try it and you'll never want plain ol' powdered again.

OMG! NO one mentioned the cherry filled buttercream Icing donuts at Suzy-jo's!!! Probably because people don't get up early enough to get them - and they RUN OUT fast! Basically- when someone mentions suzy jo's- I break into a odd zombie like voice and repeat slowly...."suzy jo donuts suzy jo donuts" in a momotone voice with my arms in front of me going toward the door....that is my best zombie impression! Because I am definately a slave to the tasty round and lovingly filled cakelets!! They should be call suzy jo cakelets- because they are almost superior to just any ole donut around! I do love the peanut butter cream filled with chocolate icing and strawberry filled....mmmmm I seem to remember getting a pinapple filled with buttercream and coconut icing before too- almost as good as a pina colada- just needed rum! So, I love them! It's a profound love that brings me from Philly to get them. and I live near Stock's Bakery- the best danish and pound cake- but Suzy Jo's beats out all donuts!! GO TO SUZY-JO'S you know you want to!

These are ridiculously good donuts. They taste the way donuts are SUPPOSED to taste - not mass-produced or artificial. Friendly service, terrific variety, and seasonal specials.

  • Judie W.

I'm always amazed when I can just roll by this place in my car and gaze longingly in the window. BUT... most of the time , there's no resisting!!!! Try the cherry cream cheese donut. Chocolate donut chockfull of white cream. (I should just rub them on my thighs and bypass the whole digestion thing, because that's where they're gonna end up.) Get the picture?? GO...

There are 3 dunkin' donuts in Norristown. Do I go to any of them? Heck No. Why? Suzy-Jo's. Apple fritter the size of your head, check, extremely fresh donuts, check, crazy concoctions of flavors and toppings, check. You can't lose with this place. Make sure you go early though, these babies sell like no other.

It doesn't get better than at Suzy-Jo's. The donuts are always fresh and amazing...the peanut butter are incredible, and the apple fritters are not to be missed!

My buddy heard Suzy-Jo's was good so he picked up a box of donuts and brought them to work...simply delicious! Best donut I have had in a long time...had the clear glazed and it was awesome! I'd probably have another but they are all gone! haha

  • Danan R.

I will eat anything and everything that they make here but I do love the cream filled donut. It's so light, fluffy, and creamy that I feel like I'm in one of those Phila. cream cheese ads every time I eat one (the ones where the woman is floating up to heaven on these little white wings). The chocolate iced cake is delicious as well, and nothing beats the apple fritter with a glass of cider in the fall. Dunkin, Honeydew, and Krispy Kreme just don't compare. We get a dozen every week, and if I recall correctly, my mom still has to hide them in her car to prevent my dad (and me when I'm around =) )from eating them all at once. Guess the addiction runs in the family.

My best friend is a donut lover, so I had to take her to this place. Everything here was fresh, tasty and made with love. Selections to go on for days. I love the tiny location and how it's been there forever. Long live Suzy-Jo!

CASH ONLY No matter how many reviews I read...I always forget this important detail. Did that deter me? No. Did I drive to Wawa so I could partake in donut goodness...why are you even asking? The donuts are delicious...and although I wish I had gotten there in time for a better selection, I was very happy with my donutty morning. 6 donuts = $4.75 Very nice. Thank you Suzy Jo for a tasty morning...and for laughing at my lame jokes. Both are appreciated.

Yum, Yum, Yum. What more needs to be said about these magnificent "old-fashioned" donuts? To the donut-maker, please, please make a maple-iced cake donut!!!! It's all that is missing.

Suzy-Jo Donuts is a local bakery selling delicious doughnuts and related pastries. There is no seating: This is just a take-out counter. Prices are inexpensive, and the doughnuts are delicious. Parking is usually available on the street or in the small lot next to the building. A line typically forms on the weekend mornings, but the staff keep it moving quickly.

I went to the Royersford location. 1st: they close by 3pm and they run out of donuts, so make sure to get there early to take advantage of all the varities they have. I agree with everyone else...excellent donuts! The donut: fresh, light and non greasy. It doesnt feel heavy inside you after you have eaten them. The white cream donut filling: fresh and delicious. The chocotale and vanilla ice donuts are soo good too. DONT go to dunkin donuts! Please go here...They are not only worth every penny (12 donuts for $7.50 and they threw in an extra donut), but its always worth giving our $$ to the mom and pop shops out there like Suzy Jo who put the time and effort into making a product that is soo much better than the franchises on every street corner.

  • Renee B.

I grew up within walking distance of this incredible place. now that I'm older I've lost my sweet tooth and never eat doughnuts, except when I can find time to go back for these. these dougnuts are worth every second it takes to get them and every penny they cost. I adore the apple fritters, but I can whole heartedly reccomend anything and everything that they make.

  • Kat J.

Oh my god --- their hard chocolate cakes are AMAZING! In fact, with the amount of saturated fat these puppies hide I can honestly say they are "to die for"! The cake, an old fashioned donut as it's called in many parts of the country, was perfectly baked and not too sweet. Then, the whole top of the donut was thickly coated with hardened chocolate. If it was dark chocolate, these donuts would be perfect. With the milk chocolate, they are simply superb. I highly recommend them as a special office treat --- they are ten times better than a dozen from Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. Get a gallon of milk too! They'd be perfect with a cold glass of milk...mm mm, I'm drooling again...

    (5)
  • Jessica A.

I am now drooling over the thought of the hard chocolate cake donuts. Definitely get there early though, because they tend to sell out of a lot of things on the weekends.
