This is not an upscale Italian restaurant. They can't seem to make chicken parm right consistently.

My husband and I were excited to eat here, having heard lots of positive things about their new Chef, who happens to be a chef from Italy. We ordered a variety of starters and four entrees to try! Everything we ate was perfectly prepared and really tasted authentically Italian! Very classy and tastefully prepared. We are definitely going back soon to try more dishes....maybe this week! :)

So I could tell u this if I would be able to give 10stars I would. . Omg. Tonight me and my husband and are friends wanted to it Italian food one of my friends recommended us this amazing place. We and asked to sit outside so we third of the cancer may need the price is a very affordable for an amazing question like this then a manager came out introduced himself Pina and the stuff was constantly coming over asking us if we needed anything on you thing else than one of the owners of the restaurant and I think the whole building came out and take those for coming out the food was absolutely scrumptious you could tell the deposit it was handmade potatos. My husband had the vodka pasta with prosciutto and I had fettucini alfredo with shrimp anyways of the were sitting there the owner of the restaurant came out and think that since it was the first people to ask to be seated outside which is by the way very nice sitting and very beautiful you can't really tell the restaurant in all honesty because it's next to the Wine and Spirits store you would think its some type of a wedding and stuff like that but that's a nice Italian restaurant so anyways this is going to be my new spot at the end the manager Pino came out and said that the first people to sit outside and would like to thank us for coming out and they got us a chocolate shallow alcoholic beverage which was absolutely amazing and the manager actually makes the chocolate himself which is incredible anyways this place is a hit and I'm not sure why I've never seen this place highly recommend the main news very nice and simple the food is affordable and please sit outside and the inside they have a very beautiful restaurant with a nice karaoke and a nice beautiful band playing on a lot of night amazing and the staff is awesome so thank you so much for this restaurant for making our night or just wanted to eat basic food but we got beyond that an amazing service and amazing food thank you so much. By the way the only time that I've had the best service like this for the food and the service was out of the top of the top it was one in Malibu California the moon restaurant and in the second time that Ivy in Beverly Hills and another one is in chart house California and Chart House in Philadelphia

The food is just ok and the service is not much better. Definitely not worth the exorbitant price.

I have to say that, walking into La Cena, was prepared to not like the restaurant. It's got that gaudy Italian feel with overly formal south phila atmosphere . To top it off it was a gentleman singing a-cappella to music system - lol. A little loud but not bad actually . I have to say what turned it around was the friendly accommodating attitude displayed all around. We wanted to enjoy a family style meal - and the menu doesn't really accommodate it. However the waitress and chef happily obliged ( I love it when places understand yes rather than no) and we proceeded to have a wonderful meal, well proportioned , well executed--- and equally divided all four entrees onto four plates. Lots if great choices on reasonably priced wine by the bottle . Color me a surprised and delighted customer. Sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover!

Let's start this off by saying I have not eaten here. I have been to the bar 3 times now and have had ridiculously great service and good wine. I hope to eat here soon ( my reward to myself when I kick off 5 more lbs). So, anyway, been to bar with friends after work. I've only ordered the house wine- which is always delicious and is a nice full pour. They do however, have a big and well stocked bar. I've had 2 different servers. Both men, both gentleman. Polite, always ready when you need them. Not overbearing though like some make bartenders can be when a girls come in. The first time I came they gave us all a small sample of their house limoncello which was delicious! The second time I came there was a mixup with someone's order in the restaurant. There ended up being a ( huge) chef salad that was not ordered/wanted and instead of tossing it, they gave it to my girlfriends and I! So nice! Believe me when I say, there are places that would toss a meal instead of serving to others. As for the amvbiance, La Cena is beautiful inside. A little dark, but I think it adds to the intimacy. I thinks it's a gem that you would never expect to find in Bensalem.

La Cena is a two headed monster. The first head is the restaurant itself. Although its rather pricey for Bensalem, the executive chef is a La Famiglia veteran and, subsequently, the food is competently prepared, fairly tasty, and quasi-upscale Italian. Pastas, proteins, and veggies are cooked properly. Sauces are vibrant and exhibit a proper harmony of ingredients, and the cream-based ones aren't leaden. Breads are fresh and tasty and the maitre d Massimo, although a bit of a character, is very friendly and accommodating. The other head of La Cena is ugly and gorgon-like: the take out section. I'll preface by saying the food is good and cheap. Surprisingly delicious red-sauce Ameri-Italian (chicken parm, clams with linguini, penne vodka), mediocre but dirt-cheap pizza, and adequate sandwiches characterize this menu. However, the service is abysmal. Every single person behind the counter gives me a dirty look as soon as I cross the door step. People can be snappy and impatient. I don't understand how the two levels of service between restaurant and takeout can be so incongruous. Anyways, the restaurant is 4 stars all around, and the take out gets 2 for good food but terrible service. Averages to a three, maybe a four if you enjoy being glared at as you pick up your pizza. UPDATE: Since I wrote this review the pizza has taken a step up in quality and the service in the take-out section has become more bearable. This brings it from 3 to 4 stars.

Official Mother-in-law vote here. 3 stars with reservations. Feedback was pricey for a fixed price after funeral with 40 guests. Good presentation but slow. Crowded for lunch. Overwhelmed and unprepared. Guests left b4 they got simple ice cream for desert.

From the time you walk through the door you will be warmly greeted by your enthusiastic cruise director for the evening, Massimo. A warm greeting is worth it's weight in gold but that alone does not make the restaurant. The decor is certainly cruise chic and it harkens back to another decade long ago. It would be sad if it weren't spotless and vibrantly alive with a regular crowd that were happy to be there. The food was far from another decade. It was fresh and well prepared and simply delicious. The things I will come for again are the grilled squid appetizer and the almond cake for dessert. What a delightful fun place to be. Oh look, there's the mayor of Bensalem!

Weekday lunch. The worst part of the experience was before we got through the front door - the place is situated in a strip mall, just past another strip mall, and next door to a karate studio. Once we made it inside, however, our business lunch here was just fine. The service was excellent and the place is comfortable and white-linen-tablecloth-classy. I had the sea bass special, over a bed of risotto, and was very pleased. Next time I find myself in Bensalem, I will be back.

Eating at this place was like dining in the middle of an SNL skit, only not in a good way. From the disturbingly bizarre lounge act singing "Margaritaville" whilst standing on the bar, to the snide attitude on the part of our server, to the manager asking my grandfather to smell his hands, to the coat check woman who thought that yelling at me for taking my 9 year old cousin outside to run around during our long wait was appropriate, the whole evening was utterly ridiculous. It took over 45 minutes for our orders to be taken and over an hour after that for our food to arrive. This wouldn't have been so bad if anyone had taken the time to let us know that the kitchen was short staffed, or if our server hadn't outright sneered at us when made any requests. The final nail in the coffin came when half of our food came out incorrectly prepared, and no effort was made to rectify the situation. Even the orders that came out right were not any better than something I could get for less money elsewhere. In short, there are far too many nice Italian joints in this area to waste a minute or a buck at La Cena.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
