on the mainline its tough to find food that tastes authentic. until now. they are not the most organized, but are super friendly. the food is for real, steals the show and overcomes all other criticism. chicken shwarma, fully loaded.

I feel two ways about this place. The hummus and pita bread are astonishing. They earned all the stars. The food itself, the kabob and other dishes I didn't find all that good. If you're looking for Persian or middle east fair go somewhere else - but if you're looking for the best hummus and pita bread in the world go here.

There isn't a ton of Israeli restaurants in the Philly area so this place breaks the monotony of pizza places, cheesesteak joints and take out Chinese. The food here is excellent but the price is a bit steep. After all though it is located on the Main line. It's hard to find a place with authentic Schwarma rotating on a horizontal spit but this place has it and it is succulent. The veggie sides are all fresh and full of flavor. Great outdoor deck and BYO.

Before coming to this restaurant, I don't even think I knew what falafel was. Now, this is one of my favorite spots in Ardmore! Their platters are very reasonably priced and you get a huge amount of food. I always get the falafel--absolutely delicious. It is served over a bed of seasoned rice. In addition, you get a very generous portion of homemade hummus, pita bread, and two vegetable sides. The service is always friendly and extremely quick! I love that you can sit outside on the patio and they will bring it directly to you. I have brought both my parents and my boyfriend here. It's a real crowd favorite because you leave feeling full, without feeling super bloated. Oh, and don't forget the Tahini Sauce!

Food has gotten better, service has gotten worse. It's actually so bad that we'll talk about going to Hummus and then go somewhere else so we don't have to deal with the employees' sh*tty attitudes. There are a few good workers here, but they're so few and far between that it's almost not worth the risk.

If you are close to the main line and like shawarma this is your spot. I had the platter with lamb and hummus the food was excellent. Stopped in around lunch time ordered there and we were on our way in 10 minutes.

Poor customer service from the behind-the-counter help. The cashier had something on her face that was dripping blood. A customer pointed it out. She grabbed a towel and disappeared for a minute and came back maybe with some makeup on but no bandage. I did not see her handling food. The falafel sandwich I ordered with everything on it (no hotsauce was specified) was extremely spicy. I tasted the falafel alone at the bottom of the sandwich and it tasted like it was rolled in pepper. It hit the trashcan as I would not have wanted to wait in the very slow line to get something else. Besides which, I wouldn't trust the people who have such a poor image on the front line. What's out front represents what you'll get, and the food matched the personalities

The food is way overpriced, not good, and the service is lacking. $12.50 is too much for a chicken kabob plate when you have to get your own water (with no ice), your own plastic utensils, and there's no service to the table. Every water cup was sticky, as were the tables. The chicken was fatty and greasy. The hummus and pita bread were delicious but everything else was so bad I probably won't go back even for just those.

After eating at Nova Mediterranean Grill in Villlanova, I was on the hunt to find a place that serves authentic Middle Eastern food. One of my friends who went to Villanova as an undergrad suggested Hummus, so we went. When I walked in, I saw a spitz with chicken shawarma on it and knew I came to the right place. I spoke to the owner and asked her if she was Israeli and she told me that she was. We had a brief conversation about the food at her restaurant and she commented that it's authentic. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with half rice, half french fries, a side of the tomato and cucumber salad, and a side of fried egg plant. Everything tasted pretty good. The shawarma was moist and flavorful and all the sides were just okay. If you order a side of hummus, they put fresh cut garlic in there which is very unique and makes it taste amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. It is a little on the pricier side but the portions are generous.

Hummus university city- I work nearby, and today I decided to give it a try, and I'm sure glad I did. I ordered the falafel platter, with rice, hummus, beets, and eggplant. It also came with a soft, warm and delicious piece of pita. The homemade hummus was amazing, I've made it at home before and I forgot just how good it is when you don't buy it at the store. The woman taking orders was also delightful which made the visit even better!

Well I ventured in here for lunch today after attempting to go to the Chipotle across the street only to find a line of about 30 people ahead of me. Chipotle is allright but definitely not good enough to wait in a line like that! Anyway, I'm glad I had to change my plans because I ended up loving Hummus! Might as well start with the hummus, since that's where they got the name. Their hummus is fabulous! Probably one of the best hummuses I've ever had and definitely one of the creamiest/smoothest. I got a huge portion of it in my Hummus Platter - I'm saving quite a bit of it for my breakfast tomorrow. Along with the platter, you get a choice of rice or fries (I chose the rice and it was perfect) and two salads... For my salads, I got the red cabbage salad which was nice and crunchy with a good bit of tang from the vinegar. I also got the cucumber salad but was a little confused because it was simply... chopped cucumbers. I was good with that though because plain old cucumbers are just fine with me, but I was under the impression it was some sort of cucumber salad. Anywho, the service was superfast. I mean SUPER DUPER FAST! By the time I sat down and checked in on Yelp, the girl said "here you go, sweetheart." Yes, I swear she called me sweetheart. It was kinda funny a girl younger than me calling me sweetheart. Cracked me right up. LOL. I was definitely pleased with my visit to Hummus. Next time, I want to try the Roasted Pear Salad... It looks pretty intriguing!

From the fluffy, fresh pita, to the toasty, delicious falafel, to the extra creamy hummus, this place has very good food. We ordered the falafel platter (don't get the hummus platter, because for an extra dollar you get everything in that plus falafel), and were completely full with food left over by the end of our visit. And we came hungry, too. It's a great place to grab a quick Mediterranean meal. I also really enjoyed the eggplant baba ganouj side dish.

Hummus doesn't deliver. You can order online at Grubhub and go pick up, or order at MainlineDelivery.com and pay $6.99 extra + driver's tip. But I found that just showing up and ordering in person was very speedy, just 10 minutes. However, in her haste my server forgot the cookies, which I noticed before leaving and got corrected. Parking was easy at the strip mall or the additional lot across the street. Typical of middle-eastern cuisine, Hummus has good vegan options. My friend and I enjoyed our food: hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, chicken kebob. The rice was very well-seasoned and delicious. The stuffed grape leaves tasted canned. The pita was thick and doughy and too filling. I might go there again, but only after I'd tried a bunch of other places in the area first. Delivery options: 2 stars Speed of takeout: 4 stars Polite helpful staff: 4 stars Hasty mistake: 2 stars Parking: 4 stars Vegan options: 4 stars Overall food: 3 stars Value: 3 stars

I cannot say anything bad about my experience. The staff was friendly and my meal was DELICIOUS. I got the chicken kabob sandwich, and other then being a bit messy, it was perfect. I recommend this restaurant to anyone look for a quick, satisfying meal.

Pretty good! I love some good Mediterranean food and Hummus was delicious. i got a falafel platter (hummus + falafels + french fries + cucumbers + tomatoes + tahini + warm pita) and a piece of baklava for like $12. Pretty affordable and really delicious.

I wanted to like this place, I loved the menu when I read it ahead of my visit. Everything was just ok, nothing special. My friend also had raw chicken in her salad so that was a big turn off. The service was mediocre, one very over worked person running the register and cooking. I really felt bad for her. My falafel was a tad bit brunt. I also felt like the dining area could be cleaner.

  • Callan W.

I have been back a few times now and I think if you know what to order, you will be ok. The kabobs are the best. I always get them in a platter now and I usually have enough for seconds the next day. Recently I tried the shawarma and was not as happy. The fries are still my fav!

    (3)
  • Erica M.

The shawarma pita was delicious! Everything was super flavorful and I thought it was even better with hot sauce! They split it in half (and served it separately) for my husband and I without our even asking. Great lunch spot, definitely recommend!

We found this place on yelp because we were in the area for lunch. It was amazing!! I only wish it was closer to where we live. You have to try this place! Good food, good service

  • E D.

I love this restaurant. Anytime I am in this area, I make a point to stop here for lunch. Everything is so fresh and delicious. There really is nothing on their menu that I would not try. The pita sandwiches are perfect; full of flavor and satisfying, and they are huge (but sort of guiltless, right?) The service is always friendly, too. And the shawarma....wow....delectable. I recommend their grape leaves as well. I also like how they serve you on real plates and bring your food out even though it's a casual, counter-service spot. Great place, and BYO!

    (4)
  • Erica T.

The Lamb sandwich was yummy. I only wish they stuffed the whole pita with the meat versus cabbage toppings at the bottom making it soggy. Or I should have just eaten faster. Fast friendly service French fries hot firm. Nothing spectacular but good lean fast food.

Definitely not the best spot to go for for falafel, shawarma, baklava, and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean goodies. But this location might just be one of the better for finding all of the above on the Main Line, and it is good that their just off fast food variations offer up an abundance of customization in regards to the fixings that you get in your sandwiches or platters. I've been fond of Hummus since I first tried it in West Philly a couple years back, although with the more locations that the franchise has taken on; I do feel that it has declined somewhat in quality and consistency. But it has rarely affected the sandwich orders that I've made after hitting the gym for a solid workout. Thus far the Falafel and Schnitzel sandwiches have been my go too. Especially when given the option of adding some hummus, hot sauce, and baba ganoush for good measure Add in some decent service and a good outdoor seating area, and this Hummus location can also be an alright option for when your looking for more than just a quick fix.

  • Amanda C.

I tried Hummus upon the recommendation of a local friend who brought their take out to my house once. She brought it for her own dinner, as I had already eaten and even though I was full, I was jealous. I saw a heaping portion of hummus, grilled chicken kabob, tomato and cucumbers, beet salad, French fries and soft wheat pita. I knew I had to get there, so I brought my boyfriend that week. We chowed down on a platter and a sandwich, and enjoyed every bite. Little did we know that day that we'd find the second location in University City...right where we were moving in together. Hummus in Ardmore is a great choice for takeout or a casual dinner out. Convenient too, to the state store! Or AAA, if you need to go. Just saying...

  • Max L.

Hummus is one of my favorite places. They have an outstanding value for the price. The food is pretty good and is fresh tasting. I would certainly recommend it. I have tried a few things on the menu and the shwarma is the only way to go. You can choose between white rice or fries and I like the israli salad and potato salad.

  • Michael B.

Exceptionally quick, fresh, filling, reasonably-priced, and tasty. If you're in a hustle, it's a good alternative to the Chipotle across the street (and it's even closer to The Beer Shoppe.. just sayin). Don't bother with the falafel; just try the original hummus-filled pita - it's stuffed to the brim with a serious helping of Israeli salatim and a more-than-sufficient does of their well-above-average, tahini-laden hummus. And don't kid yourself by getting the whole wheat pita (bread is unhealthy no matter how you slice it, so you might as well go for flavor and nab the white pita - whatever was I thinking..?)

    (3)
  • Alison D.

You know what. I like the falafel with everything all snuggled up in their fluffy pita bread. But I personally have gotten sick from eating here, friends have gotten sick from eating here, and I just got a departmental letter alerting attendees that the dept. o' health may be contacting them regarding a Hummus-catered lunchtime seminar (phew! Glad I missed that one.) anyway, tasty but you and your insides have been warned.

Ordered delivery on a Sunday night (Mainline Delivery). The service was very speedy but the order was not 100% accurate and there were 3 mistakes total. We ordered two falafel platters- one with whole wheat pita, the other white, and one with the cabbage salad. They gave us beet salad instead and two whole wheat pitas. They also failed to give us the extra pita I ordered and payed for. The falafel was tasty but did not come with any type of tahini sauce. I have never personally eaten falafel dry like that and I wasn't looking forward to the idea. Luckily, I keep tahini in my pantry so I made my own sauce. The grape leaves were tasty but not fresh (perhaps they are canned), and the baba ganoush was OK, but not my favorite- very smoky but lacking in seasoning. The platter comes with "salads" to choose from. I got the carrot, tomato and cucumber salads. The carrots were cooked and seasoned but just not appealing to me, I would have preferred them raw. The tomato salad was just diced tomatoes and the cucumber salad was simply diced cucumber. The pita bread was fluffy and delicious. Really soft and a generous size to stuff the falafel into. My husband's french fries were soggy and overcooked but my rice was really tasty. I would like to think I could give them another shot but honestly, 3 mistakes is 3 too many for a first time order.

One of my new favorite places to eat. The platters are great and are really a good bang for your buck. The shawarma platter has been my favorite so far. Make sure to get the fries, they're fantastic. Contrary to other reviews, I thought the hummus was good. It wasn't the best hummus I've ever had, but I would definitely say it was good. It's a little small but you can sit outside if you'd like, which I think is nice. This is definitely a place I'd go back to for a nice, filling lunch.

The food at Hummus is excellent. They serve the hands down best greek salad I've ever had. Don't forget to add the shnitzel!!!

Grand service, quick & friendly. Food was good as others have said. I travel 40 minutes to get to Hummus plus return time. I think they are worth the trip & trouble. Highly recommend for Falafel. I am a falafel sandwich fan here.

After visiting other Mediterranean restaurants in the area, hummus is by far the best. Best food, best prices, and best service. I think we had burned out on it before (our fault, not theirs), but we are coming back!

  • Lesley R.

The food tasted really good but less stars for how much I had to spend. $30+ for just my boyfriend and I and we didn't get much (not even drinks). The food was good but I probably won't come back

  • Nick D.

This isn't a great eat-in place, but I think they have really good food. I read some reviews saying that the hummus itself is not good. I disagree. I have had hummus in some really good restaurants with people who really know their hummus (people born and raised in the middle east) and I think the hummus here is pretty close to those spots. Much better than anything you get at a supermarket. I also like the baba ganoush, but it is really garlicky. I am not a big fan of the falafel, but I think the shawarma is awesome. The kabobs are pretty good too. I like getting take-out from here. Orders come out quick and I have always encountered friendly staff. Certainly not the most authentic place out there, but good stuff nonetheless.

  • J K.

Although the restaurant is called "hummus" the hummus wasn't that great for me, just OK and nothing to rave about. Of all the things we ordered, I liked the falafel best. The cabbage salad and beet salads were excellent, and the grape leaves were very good. The chicken schwarma was kind of dry, and the lamb kebabs were very salty/over seasoned. Generous portions and a 10% student discount make this restaurant a good value. I personally didn't like the fact that you have to eat with plastic forks, and the plastic cups provided for drinks weren't clean. You can BYOB here and I suggest bringing your own glasses as well..

    (3)
  • Leslie M.

Eggplant was spoiled. Floors are so greasy that you slide all around. Counter staff up sold me without telling me there was a surcharge for a specific type of eggplant. Very loud. Understaffed at week night dinner time.

  • Michelle D.

I had a very average yet enjoyable meal here. The food is good, not great and it's healthy-ish. The platters are somewhere around $11-12 and you get an ample amount of sides. My criticisms? While enjoyable, there was nothing that stood out about this place or good enough to bring me back. I might return if I happen to be in the area or I may never eat here again. I could care less either way. The hummus is flavorless and the other sauce option that I tried which was like a creamy cucumber-ish flavor did nothing for the meal. Now, if this place added a bangin' tatziki sauce, I would be here all the time. I should also mention that I had the chicken schwarma & my gf had the boneless chicken breast. The schwarma was definitely better and more flavorful. The chicken breast was an average, grilled piece of chicken breast. Womp, womp.

Gave this place 2 stars b/c they were relatively quick with my take-out order at lunchtime on a weekday. That was a plus. I ordered the tabbouleh salad and a side order of hummus to go. The salad was decent. The hummus had the strangest bitter aftertaste...like it had gone sour. Not even edible and I ended up throwing it away for fear of getting sick. The whole wheat pita that came with it was the only saving grace. Will not return

    (2)
  • Harry E.

The food hear is only second to the portion size you get. For 9-12 bucks you can get a huge platter filled with your choice of meat, 2 side salads (beet & carrot & Cucumber are all fantastic!) French fries (or rice, but the fries are awesome) hummus, and peta. Its also a BYOB which is a nice feature! I cannot wait to be a regular here!

    (5)
  • Becca H.

Food is fantastic but service is unfortunately deplorable. It is so bad that my husband refuses to eat here. Sad, because I really do like the food. You do have to be careful, though, because I once got hummus that was making the container very puffy only a day after purchasing it. I called the owner of the store who told me that it wasn't possible. I brought it into her and she just gave me a dirty look and told me I could take another one. They are really incredibly rude. If the service were better and the people were nicer we would be there at least a few times a month.

I had the falafel platter and while it tasted pretty good going down, I got sick as a dog about 8 hours after eating it. In fact I was so sick that I was awakened from a sound sleep because of it. I ended up being REALLY ill for a few days, and considered going to the doctor, but my condition gradually improved. It took me over a week to feel like myself and able to eat normally again. I'm certain I got food poisoning from this place.

Special shout out to the lamb and chicken kabob. Also, ironically enough, the hummus was far from the best.

Friend & I went on a weekend afternoon, just after lunch rush. The place itself was very clean and bright, easy to read menus and such. Friend got the greek salad with chicken - chicken was yum! Salad was good but skimpy on the feta. She got a side order of hummus, great but not a lot of pitas to eat it with. I got the chicken kabob platter with cucumbers, beets, fries and hummus. Beets and cukes were disappointing, really just a spoonful of each, nothing special at all. Fries were good. Chicken kabob very disappointing - my friend's strips were more flavorful and seasoned, these were greasy hunks of meat with very little seasoning. I think they're overpriced and underseasoned and should do more with their veggies. Disappointing.

Okay folks, read my reviews. You'll see that I know my food and I know good customer service. That said I've been a fairly regular customer to Hummus since they opened and never experienced any of the issues other reviewers complain about. Service is always excellent, if not the speediest, and the food is solid, Americanized Mediterranean food (like PF Chang's is to Chinese). I like the hummus, which I typically get with extra garlic, and the falafel is excellent. So, too, is their pita. My daughter likes the schnitzel. The only dish I have had here which I wasn't too crazy about were the grape leaves. And I'm not a fan of baklava as a rule so I can't comment on theirs. I am a big believer in Yelp reviews. However in this case I say, give it a whirl yourself. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

3.5 stars if I could. No, this place is not amazing but when so many reviewers are claiming disappointment, I have to wonder what they were expecting. This is Ardmore, Pennsylvania we're talking about, not Istanbul. The food at Hummus is pretty on par with what I was expecting the first time I went so, despite the lack of amazingness, I can't claim disappointment. The only thing that took me aback slightly was that the food is fairly pricey. You generally get a lot of it though - e.g. a falafel platter would come with your falafel, hummus, two salads, french fries (or rice), and a full pita round - so I guess that sort of makes up for it. The thing I've had most often is the falafel platter. I've also ordered a salad, which was large and the greens and veggies were fresh. The highlight is the hummus. I will pointedly disagree with a reviewer who said the name is ironic. I think their hummus is awesome (I eat my fair share of TJ's hummus too...this is DEFINITELY better): creamy, thick, flavorful...I'm not sure what else you'd be looking for in hummus. In terms of the quality of most of the rest of the food: like I said, it's not amazing. But everything is made-to-order and the ingredients are generally fresh. So the quality generally ranges from not-awful to decent. My biggest product-specific complaint is the falafel. Falafel is my all-time favorite food and I've had a lot of it from a lot of different places. The most important thing about falafel is that it needs to be fried and it needs to be fresh. Hummus Ardmore meets those two key criteria so it is edible but it is REALLY SALTY. Basically: consistency and texture meet my falafel standards but flavor is a fail. I've had the falafel three times now and that has consistently been my experience. Also less-than-satisfactory: I find it a little pointless that they have 8+ side salad options for their platters but they're all really 'meh'...why not just have 2-4 and make them really good? Even though it's great that they do most things to order, it does take a little long to get your food at lunch if you're trying to get back to work. So that's a drawback as well. If you like Middle Eastern food and are local to Ardmore, I definitely think this place is worth a shot. Just remember where you are and what else is around and you'll probably think it's pretty alright.

Great local spot for hummus, chicken and falalfel. Fair prices and they give you a lot of food. Nice staff, super friendly. I love the cabbage and I always get a double order with my platter. I can never finish a platter and always have some for later. The olives and pickles are a nice touch. Probably the best take out in the neighborhood although I will eat at lunch sometimes.

My mother and I decided to finally try Hummus, and got take-out for lunch yesterday. After spending a long time looking at the menu, we decided to splurge and try a little of everything, so we would know what we liked for next time, vs. what we preferred at another local Mediterranean spot. I'll still go to the other place for a couple things, but I think the platters at Hummus are better. Service- The heavily accented woman who took our phone order seemed a bit distracted, but nice. She repeated the order back and when the food got home it was 99% accurate. (one side for the platter was missing, so next time I'll check before I leave.) Quality- All the veggies were very fresh, the hummus was thick and creamy (which we prefer), and the meet was tasty, if a bit salty. The French fries were excellent. Taste and value- Grape leaves- $3.50 for 4, just o.k. Baklava $2.25- just o.k. Moroccan Cigars- $5.95 for "Six deep-fried pastry fingers filled with your choice of potato or meatless soy, served with a side of hummus." We had the potato ones, and fought over them. OMG, yummy! Sabich on pita- $6:95 Really big, really fresh and tasty. They list things that could go on the sandwiches, but what they really mean (as explained over the phone) is that it ALL comes on the sandwich. Maybe not a lot of the main ingredients, but I'm still looking forward to trying their sandwiches again, as everything came together really well. Sawarma Platter $9.95 and Lamb kabob platter $12.95- Both were very good, with a lot of meat and food for the price, You get a a good serving of meat, a small amount of 2 side salads, plus hummus, a whole pita, and fresh French fries or rice. Great fries. Be hungry or prepaired to split/take leftovers. We had tabouli salad (simple and tasty) and pickled beats. ***As an aside, we had my very picky father (who usually eats boring, plain foods), try the Shawarma (seasoned, shredded chicken thighs) and I gave him a spoonful of hummus. I described it as "chickpea sauce" and explained how the flavor balances out the spice of the chicken. He loved it, but was appalled when my mother pointed out that the "chickpea sauce" was actually hummus, which my father claimed to hate, even though he had never tried it. Lol, love teaching the old dog new tricks:)

So I'm reviewing the shawarma combo platter and did pickup - so keep that in mind: Chicken Shawarma - It was moist, tasty, a little bit salty but overall tasty. Would definitely get again. Beef Kabob - way too salty and a little too charred. While nice that it is grilled in a sausage shape, it was too salty. Had to dump it in a sauce and put some lemon to make it edible. Hummus - wasn't bad. I honestly can't tell you good from bad but here's what it's like: creamy, smooth, Could have more spices. Falafel - a little on the salty side again, could have a little more texture but it wasn't bad. Cabbage salad - it's red cabbage salad. Not much to review here. Rice - tasty and soft Pita - super delicious in opinion. Light, puffy, soft and delicious. Bottom line: not bad for the price, a little too salty but it could be the batches / cooks on a Sunday. I'll do a review on a weekday, see if there any changes.

Just ordered the Falafel sandwich and Tabouli Salad for lunch and it was phenomenal. The addition of the Red Cabbage to the sandwich gives it a kick that others lack. The salad was very simple, fresh and delicious. Great job, recommend to anyone in the Ardmore area.

The falafel sandwich was a bit stingy on falafel balls, sorta a big pita of vegetables with a few felafel balls on top as garnish.

Visited Hummus and was not disappointed. This is a great little lunch place that does healthier Mediterranean food, fast! You have your choice of many sandwich (pita) or platter choices with lots of meats, veggies and sides to choose from. I had the grilled chicken kabob platter, which came with pita (which I didn't have), rice or fries (did the rice), choice of two salads (had the beets and potato salad) and a nice big dollop of hummus. Everything was served up freshly cooked, hot and well-seasoned. Rice was flavorful - not bland at all. All in all it was a pretty good way to get a quick lunch in Ardmore and not feel too guilty about it! Falafel looked good as well - I would like to go back and try other options (schwarma...winning!)

Great for takeout or a quick lunch. Decor isn't suited for a date or night out, so don't expect that, but the food delivers and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend the shawarma.

The best part of Hummus is the Hummus. Yeah... that's why they are named Hummus. It is smooth, creamy, has that tahini, and it's all good. I sometimes get a side to take home and enjoy. 2nd best is the pitas, they are fresh and puffy, like little loafs of bakery bread. I go with the whole wheat versions. Notable also is the cabbage side, falafels and even their rice is pretty good. They have an outdoor patio for nice weather. This is like a fast food place but the food is actually good for you. They advertise as low calorie, that is not entirely true if you clean your plate with those huge portions. But it's lower calorie than alot of other choices you could make, that's for sure. Take out can be an adventure as many of their dishes don't travel particularly well. I've had good service where the cashiers brought me the food when it was ready (not part of their jobs). Overall it's a fast, relatively cheap, relatively healthy place to get good middle eastern food.

Two reviews in one: 1. Someone brought Hummus into my office a few weeks ago..I had a salad with roasted veggies and hummus and pita..it was so good. I have been thinking about it since 2. Tonight after a meeting in the 'burbs, a friend and I went to Hummus Ardmore at 8:35pm. The hours on the door said open till 9pm. We knew we were going to order and eat fast, but when I got to the register, the girl took my name, then goes, this is for take out, right? I said no I wanted to eat here. She then asked her boss if it was ok if we ate there? What? We still had plenty of time. My friend and I both thought that was a little wierd. Salad was good with falafal! Definately go to this place- fresh and healthy options!

Really like the hummus sandwiches here. The toppings are fresh and the hummus is very creamy (although not a TON of flavor). I've only gotten hummus the three times I've gone, so I cannot comment on anything else on the menu. The restaurant is nice for dining in. Very clean and cute. One complaint--the people behind the counter and less than friendly. Actually, the young man who rang me up today was very sweet. But when the woman called my name to give me my sandwich, I asked if I could have a few pickles on the side and she literally ROLLED her eyes at me. There was no one else on line, so it's not like she was busy. And a different, equally nasty, woman gave us some major 'tude last time we were there. I get that maybe you don't like your job, but at least fake a bit of friendliness.

My hubsand and I each ordered a combination platter for take out. When we got home, several items were missing from our order. I called the restaurant to advise them of the error and request a refund and I received horrible service. I was spoken to in a very unacceptable manner by an extremely rude man. I never went back. The food that we did receive: some was overcooked, some was undercooked.

I've never had much more than the schawarma, but that much has been pretty good. It's not really a take-the-family sit-down meal, but it's good for dining in within a friend (lunch or dinner).

This place is perfect. I can't bring myself to understand many of the reviews placed below. The restaurant has everything that you could ask for: good service, delicious food, great atmosphere and all at a very cheap price. It is perfect for family dinners, small get togethers and for young adults, it is BYOB as well. I have been to Israel twice now and let me tell you, not only is this hummus authentic, but it is as good, if not better than any that you will find in Israel. The shwarma here is easily the best that I have ever had and the meats are all rich and juicy. Perhaps my favorite thing, however, about this menu is its flexibility. In one dish, I can get shwarma, hummus, pita, israeli salad, rice/fries and any other side that I may want to try. This flexibility is what keeps me coming back time and time again, and what keeps me satisfied everytime that I return. Don't listen to any negative reviews. I, as a proud restaurant enthusiast, wholeheartedly recommend this place and I believe that once you try it, you will never go anywhere else.

I'm hoping they just had an off day, and that the other good reviews stand. I will, however, not be back. I felt invisible from the moment I walked in. No eye contact or greeting by any staff. Stood at the counter awhile. Finally, a very depressed-looking young woman sauntered over to take my order. I had a feeling the order would not be correct, and it was not. I ordered a shwarma without tahini, and received a sloppy mess of a sandwich bathed in tahini. It was tasteless, and such a giant mess, that I threw it away after taking 3 bites. I also had some concerns about whether I'd feel okay after I ate it; another reason I tossed it. It was just a feeling that the procedures might be a bit lax, based on the vibe of the place. I cannot imagine owning a place and allowing poorly trained and coached people to be the face of your business. The sandwich was nearly $10, including tax. That is a lot of money for the experience. It reminded me that I am perfectly capable of making a sandwich in my own home.

I think the food is solid. The falafel is crispier than normal which I love and I like the hummus. The platter is the way to go and I enjoy the cabbage side dish. I think it is a quick and easy healthy option for lunch of take out.

I had Falafel and Sabich sandwiches,French fries and Tabouli salad. The falafel was great and tasted liike Hummus Walnut street Falafel. On the other hand, I did not like their French fries they were old and dry and had a brownish color. Sabich sandwich was good, pretty much what I have expected as this the first time for me to try it. The service was excellent and they gave a 10 percent coupon for next time. I will be back for sure, I just hope they will give me better French fries this time.

Took the missus and two of the team in for a quick "something different" dinner. I love middle eastern (bury me with falafel). First impression - a little more "food court" than I hoped, but I was MOST happy to find they had a wine opener and wine glasses!. We had falafel, chicken ke-bob, lamb pita, hummus plat and a bunch of fresh veggie side salads. The counter was congested and chaotic, they plated our order wrong, but were very nice about fixing it up right away. I would like to have nutritional information readily available, but did'nt see any. We really enjoyed the food! It was quite tasty and positively fresh. Service was friendly and fast. We will definitely good back, with the right expectations, and enjoy ourselves again. Price - a buck or two more per item than I would expect, but overall, a decent value given the location and quality of the food.

If you are trying to get outstanding middle eastern food in Delaware County, PA, I would first recommend Desert Rose in Media. Only about 15 minutes from Hummus, their food is far more superior than Hummus. Pita is made to order at Desert Rose and tastes much fresher. Hummus is good, but the Hummus. restaurant in university city Philadelphia is much better. I believe the university city location is better because of the high volume of people, leading to the food being prepared more frequently, rather than in advance, ultimately having the taste of fresher food. Service could be friendlier.

We were thrilled to hear that Hummus was opening this location. We called in an order a couple of days ago for take out. It was ready when we arrived and the staff was nice and pleasant. We've eaten at the Walnut St. location a bunch of times (always a great meal 4 to 5 stars) - but this new location has some fine tuning to do before I could give it better than 3 stars. We had falafel, the beef kabobs, and the chicken shwarma. The kabobs and shwarma were very good - just like Walnut st. While the falafel tasted good from a seasoning standpoint, it was way over cooked in the fryer - they were close to rock hard. The hummus was excellent. Same w/ the tahini and the green hot sauce (but I don't know what they call it). The two salads we had (Israeli salad & Cabbage salad) were fresh, but were lacking any real taste, flavor or seasoning. Not sure if this is the recipe or if someone just dropped the ball. I don't recall having this issue at Walnut St. location. The pita is very good. I know this place just opened recently, so I understand that it may take a little while for everything to fall in place. I want this place to do well and hope that with a little time under their belts and paying closer attention to the taste of the salads, I will be able to give it 5 stars the next time I go back.

I have come here many, many times and like the food. Quality is consistent and reasonably priced. The service is generally friendly and efficient, although I have had a few less than perfect experiences with some of the servers. My only complaint is that they are very, very heavy on the garlic, so much so that my husband gets a stomach ache every time we come. So I usually do it solo or with my daughter. They are very kid friendly and have a well priced kids menu. Portions are very generous. No complaints. One of the better options around.

Went to Hummus tonight with big expectations, since I had heard amazing things about the Walnut St. location. I liked that it seemed like a family-run business, with mom, dad, and daughter all doing something behind the counter. I ordered a shwarma sandwich to go, with tomato, cucumber, cabbage, and tahini. When the girl taking my order said, "So everything but onions and hot sauce?" the logical response seemed to be "yes." When I got home, I realized my shwarma had ONLY onions and hot sauce, nothing else. Communication breakdowns are forgivable, but I was really looking forward to having all those wonderful veggies on my sandwich. I don't even really know what my shwarma tasted like, since there was so much of the undesired hot sauce mixed in. I might go back to Hummus if I'm in the mood, but with Chipotle right across the street, my need for fancy fast-food has been satisfied.

I gave this place 1 star for their rotten customer service. The young woman, with an accent, who works behind the counter really should not be working with the public. She has ZERO people skills. I have advice for the management; move rude-woman away from the counter and put your forks behind the counter, to be dispensed by your employees. I didn't try the food because I won't give my money to someone who barks at me, when there are many other restaurants to choose from. However, I did notice at 6:30 on a Saturday night, there were only two small tables occupied....hmmmm.

you go to hummus for the kebob sandwiches. the lamb and chicken in particular with the works is simply fresh, delicious, consistent, healthyish, and definitely the best in town. all towns need kebob sandwiches which is why hummus is great. Thank goodness for them because without their establishment, we would be a town without fresh kebob pitas. in general, their ingredients are crisp and bold. if you don't want to pay 5 bucks for hummus that's similiar to cheaper ones, DON'T. that doesn't mean the place that serves up the best kebobs in town deserves 1 star. come on. ps my wife loves the falafel pita.

Hummus is OK, but I would not go out of my way. Israeli-inspired Mediterranean. A typical sandwich was $8-9. I could not really taste the chicken in my Schwarma, but everything seemed fresh. Probably this place would appeal more to vegetarians. Fresh-Cut-Fries would have been killer had they been hot.

Salmon was very good. Falafel and grape leaves better than average. Salads are varied and tasty. They have a frequent customer card and I will definitely be using it!

We were really excited when Hummus opened, and it was a good addition to the mainly pizza fare found in these parts of the Main Line. We've eaten here probably 10 times with our 4 kids and usually order the chicken shwarma platter (with various side salads), garlic hummus, Moroccan cigars and baklava. For the 6 of us it is usually about $50. So it's not fast food cheap but less than Bertucci's. The hummus is delicious and the pita is good but very thick. The chicken shwarma is tasty but the servings are small. The platters don't contain heaping amounts of food, and if you order the shwarma as an individual dish you just get a small bowl of it, with no hummus or pita. So Hummus is kind of like a glorified cafeteria where you place your order at the counter and then wait, and wait, and wait, and wait... It takes a pretty long time to receive your food, and since they are always busy, it takes even longer. And, the way the restaurant is designed, it is very crowded inside and difficult to stand in line without feeling like you're going to spit on top of a seated customer. Hummus is a necessary addition to the restaurant scene, but it has lots of room for improvement: have bigger servings, provide faster service, improve the flow so waiting in line isn't so uncomfortable for those in line and those already eating.

Fresh mediterranean food in a kid-friendly casual restaurant (order at the counter). I've been a few times and tried all of the chicken dishes, falafels, side salads, pita & hummus - everything has been good to very-good... but the standout to me is the chicken shawarma, which is marinated chicken cooking on a spit (kinda like a chicken gyro). If I had a half-star, I'd give it 3 1/2.

I ordered take-out from Hummus and the woman was very rude. I asked what side selection they had for the chicken shawarma and she proceeded to ask me "You don't have a menu in front of you?". I told her no and she curtly repeated the list of 4 or 5 sides that they offer. The food was alright, nothing spectacular. If you are looking for good Mediterranean food, there are other places on the main-line to choose from. I was not too pleased with the service or the food.

I was so excited that a mediterranean place delivered. But boy was I disappointed. My boyfriend and I both ordered chicken kebabs, he got the platter, and I got just the kebabs. I figured that for such a high price, the platter would be a lot of food, and I could snack off his. The platter claims to come with two salads, hummus, and pita. Each salad was just a spoonful of chopped veggie. The hummus was tasty, but that's about it. The french fries tasted awful. And the whole platter came with two tiny, little pitas -- definitely not enough for the hummus, or to have with the chicken. I had to take one of the pitas because for my 'just chicken' order, they didn't give me a pita. Just four little pieces of chicken, cooked, but with no flavor, no spice -- I love kebabs and these just made me want to cry. And to top it all off, they forgot to pack the hot sauce I asked for. Never again.

My companion and I stopped in last night for the first time and we were blown away! The food quality, freshness and taste were unexpected and a first! She had the salmon salad. Her salmon was moist and flavorful and quite generous. Her salad greens were very fresh. I tasted her salmon and agreed with her that it was delicious. I had the combination platter. The falafel were as tasty as any I've ever had. The ground beef, while denser than I expected, was well-seasoned and tasty. And the chicken shawarma was. to die for! I don't know what it was marinated in but I couldn't believe the taste. The hummus was among the best I've had. The sides of tahini sauce offered by the staff were by far the best I've had - in fact they were delicious, and I don't usually even like tahini sauce. The owner came over to ask how everything was and was quite gracious. We will be returning very soon.

Good, reasonably priced middle eastern food. Really love the hummus, baba ganoush, beet salad and carrot salad. Appreciate the fact that they have whole wheat pita and also that they will change out the rice/fries for another veggie option. I get lunch/dinner here on a regular basis. I've always found t he staff friendly and helpful.

got delivery--chicken kabob platter. Delicious, fresh food. One of the sides i got was baba ghanoush--I was not very impressed with it. Everything else (beet salad, chicken, pita, hummus, fries, and complimentary pickles, tahini, and hot sauce--ask for them!) was absolutely delicious. Tried to call again tonight for delivery and no one was answering the phone. What's up, Hummus?

A welcome reprieve from the usual pizza that I feed my body during finals week or when I sleep through dinner during my power naps. Great price point for a college student like me and the food isn't bad. Not the best Mediterranean place, but it is close, quick, and does the job. My friends and I like to go 'cause it is new and breaks up the monotony of the usual fare around here. I find the food way too dry, but they have surprised me before.

I work about ten minutes away from the Ardmore Hummus location, and for some reason, I can't stop myself from making the trek almost every day for lunch. It's not just the falafel, shawarma and hummus that's fantastic, but it's literally nearly everything. For a man who is watching his weight, as I am, the Roasted Pear Salad with Salmon inside is a taste from heaven. The Baklava dessert is to die for, unfortunately I have been unable to restrain myself from it, but my taste buds aren't complaining. I advise anyone looking for good food to take a trip down Greenfield Ave, I promise you won't be disappointed.

This place is really pretty terrible. The sauces taste nasty. The felafel is terrible. How do you put out your shingle as a middle eastern joint and have shitty felafel? And the french fries, which I ordered for my children, looked as though they had been fished out of a garbage can somewhere. I'm not exaggerating. Horrid, horrid food. Do not bother. Do yourself a favor and go buy some kind of frozen middle eastern whateverhaveyou from Trader Joe's. You'll save a lot of money.

Very good! Had the hummus app with extra pita, the combo platter (shawarma, falafel, & beef), the Greek Salad, and fries. We wanted to try a mix of everything to see what to go back for next time. Hummus app - Very good, but the regular hummus was definitely plain for our taste, and would have been better with garlic. We definitely missed the garlic taste. It was still well-made, fresh, and good enough, but would have been loads better with garlic. Would def recommend getting at least 2 extra pitas. They do not give you much and then charge for more. Kind of disappointing, but the pitas are REALLY excellent pitas. So I'd say it's worth the money. Combo platter - Very good. Just note that the beef option is like a sausage casing beef, not a slice of beef, which was what we were expecting. It was still quite good, just a head's up since it wasn't described as a "sausage" per se. Fries - Very good real skin-on potato fries. Well seasoned, well done, and super tasty. No complaints! Greek Salad - Looked beautiful but was surprisingly lacking flavor. The veggies were nice and dark in color, which normally means good flavor, but they tasted like any old hydroponic, so unfortunately, I have to take a star off because of it. Would not recommend a salad. All in all a great value for all the food we got. We had leftovers for the next day, and were very full from all we ate!

Quick, healthy and fresh place for lunch. Stopped here after an appointment at Salon Ziza and wanted disappointed. Ordered the convo and split it between two and it was perfect. I really like the baba ganoush and shwarma. The fries are pretty good too. I thought the beef kabob was a little salty. Decent falafel too.

I really love Middle Eastern cuisine and Hummus in Ardmore is one of my favorites. Its very easy, when seeking out Middle Eastern cuisine, to be served a vinegary mess smothered in hummus with dry pita. I've had almost everything on the menu but my favorite is the combination platter. I like to get the combination platter with chicken shawarma, lamb kabob, falafel, beet salad and eggplant. The lamb kabob is super tender and an absolute textural dream to eat. When lamb is done right there is not a single meat on this planet that can compete. The chicken shawarma is seasoned well and not tough, and the salads are refreshing and a welcome addition to such a meat-centric meal. The falafel at Hummus is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes its really fresh and crispy and sometimes it tastes like its been in the fryer for a couple hours. Same goes for the fries, extremely hit or miss. I had the turkish coffee yesterday for the first time and THAT was not turkish coffee. I got a full size mug of what tasted like run of the mill, gulp it down with an eggo waffle coffee and was not pleased. The ambiance is really casual and I would have liked a slightly more sophisticated looking dining room to go with the quality of the food. My biggest problem with Hummus is consistency, but you are more than likely to have a good and sometimes GREAT meal if you decide to go. 4 stars because the meats are always stellar and because I can't count on the fries or falafel being top notch.
