My favorite sit down Mexican restaurant around. Even over La Carreta. Food is amazing. Only clean Mexican restaurant around lol. Service is always great. No complaints. Oh, try the Fajitas, steak tastes like no other.

Excellent service, excellent food. A little high on the price however a great experience is to be expected.

My husband & I like this place, but it's a little spendy. The flavors are great & we love that you get chip & a little carafe of salsa for the table. Margaritas are tasty. Our only complaint, it's slightly overpriced. We still go every few months, when we feel like splurging. Side note, It is vegetarian friendly. They do have lard in the refried beans, but they can sub whole beans as a vegetarian option & black beans for $0.50 more.

Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in Gresham/ Troutdale. They have excellent service. The waiter always come by to check on you to see if the food is good and if you need anything else. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Their food is the best too! Can't go wrong with chicken enchiladas or quesadilla.

I have been to many Mexican restaurants in my life and this is on my top 5 list! Great food, great drinks, great price, and amazing customer service!

PROS: variety of drinks (domestic, craft & Mexican beers, mixed, hard A etc) friendly staff lots of seating - no waiting when we went. family-friendly CONS: older local crowd food was overpriced. everything appeared to be $13+ atmosphere was bland & there were slot machines in near the seating. **this restaurant rec'd a 2 bc of the crowd and food. I ordered shrimp&rice bc it was a special and $15 instead of $18. it was too cheesy and looked...weird. ate it anyway and it was not worth the money. the drinks were good and the staff wa cool too. however there were a lot of (guessing) 50+ people there and families. Nothing wrong unless you're looking for a night out on the town.

This is my favorite Mexican joint in the Gresham/Troutdale area. The food is always amazing, and the complimentary salsa that comes out to your table is OH MY GAWD delicious! My only reason for holding back the 5th star is because of my last visit. He must have been a new waiter, because after waiting 20 minutes for him to reappear, I had to go track him down to get our bill. This, combined with the fact that La Costita is a little pricey for a Mexican restaurant is why this place gets 4 stars from me instead of 5.

I really like La Costita and have enjoyed eating at the Gresham and Clackamas locations. I always have the combination plate with a tostada, but have tried the fajitas and quesadilla. The tacos Tijuana are worth trying too. I haven't had anything bad here and it is probably one of my favortie Mexican restaurants to go to.

Can't think of anything Negative to say about this place. Was highly recommended by camping world and Byron and I agree. Food was really great. I ordered 2 cheese enchalada s the red sause was so good I ask for more to put on my beans and rice. Our server brought out a nice bowl full. The portions were so big, I have a second meal for later. Byron had the Spinach burrito with lots of mushrooms and onions, his portion was large enough for a snack for later. Service was great, prices were good and wonderful food can't ask for more. We were pleasantly surprised, and would recommend this place. We are full time RVERS and have really enjoyed this food.

The Customer Service wasn't a friendly encounter. The tortilla chips, were stuck together, one had about 8 stuck tightly together. One of the small bottled hot sauces, on our table, had a missing lid. We were done with our lunch, and I was finishing up by drinking the water from my glass, as I stared inside the bottom of the glass, I saw something black (the size of a fruit fly, but it wasn't a fruit fly) floating on the bottom of the cup. I tried to wipe it off from the outside, but it surely came inside the glass. I asked my server, to have my shrimp a little bit more cooked, I've seen shrimp that was raw still and gray, and it wasn't fully cooked, even though she said it was! The mushrooms, even though they were a lot, were cut in halves, the same size as the shrimp, good I THINK. I like my mushrooms sliced, but I'm not changing my rating for that.

We tried La Costita for lunch while in the area. We were disappointed with the price versus the tastiness of the food. We called in an order for three veggie burritos and a chicken burrito to go. The woman on the phone offered me two options for the veggie burrito -- either one with fajita type veggies on top, or a veggie burrito filled with beans, rice, cheese, salsa... I opted for the second version. When my order was rung up, the total came to nearly $45. For four burritos! We thought we were getting food from a taqueria-type of joint, not an upscale Mexican restaurant... The burritos came. The veggie burritos were filled with beans and rice, smothered in sauce and topped with fajita type veggies. Wide strips of onion, mushrooms, peppers. Not at all what we had asked for, but we didn't realized that until we were back at the college campus nearby. La Costita definitely wasn't what we were looking for and chances are we will not return.

Had the sweet potato empanada with sunflower romesco. Excellent. Service great.

Good place for lunch, good food with quick service. I almost always have the Tacos Al Pastor; 3 small soft tacos with black beans on the side. Great flavor and just right for lunch. ?? Why do so many places use 2 tortillas for a taco? I just leave the outer one on the plate for a less filing, lower carb meal.

Big selection to chose from. Decent service but prices are a tad higher than most, but you get a ton of food. Happy Hour specials are good but no kids allowed in bar to get them. But still a decent place.

Great food, staff is very attentive and available for any additional needs. Food is classic American Mexican but with good quality. The atmosphere is very typical to American Mexican places. But I will continue to come here and eat their arroz con pollo. Margaritas are not top of the line, I believe they use cheap margarita mix. But they do make a stiff cocktail and have a decent beer selection.

Coming from SoCal I expected less and was surprised by the excellent dishes. Only two issues: little more cooking on the fajita veggies, AND: a waiter should know what "a la carte" means.

Love the happy hour fish tacos. The prices are a little higher than La Carretta but the food is 10x better, so I am more than willing to pay.

The food is great (their burritos, enchiladas, tamales, and red and green salsas are full of flavor!) and I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars, but it is EXTREMELY over-priced for Mexican food! It's not like the ingredients here are any more extravagant than anywhere else! In addition, the guy that works the host stand at night and deals with take-out orders not only has horrible customer service skills, but is also a ridiculous tight-ass. I ordered six different entrees to go and he messed them up, made me wait, and then wouldn't give me extra chips unless I paid for them. With SIX ENTREES?!

Great authentic Mexican food. Try the tacos al pastor they are the best. Service is excellent. My wife and I come a few times of month and always enjoy it.

YUMMY! Not the BEST Mexican food I've had but this place does it quite nicely. I'd say a notch up from your typical Americanized Mexican joint. The staff is super friendly and the service is great. Last night I tried out the chicken fajitas....and although a bit spendy ($15) it was more than enough food. I took home plenty of left overs. The fajitas came with the typical grilled onions and green peppers on a skillit. The chicken was dark meat....which interestingly enough I've never really seen being served. Tasted fine, but wish it was white meat. It was also served with the normal rice, beans, guac/sour cream, and some pretty darn delicious flour tortillas. They of course also serve chips with semi-chunky salsa with a hit of spicyness that I couldn't stop eating. So, so good. Try the margaritas. Mix the bended flavors. Mango-Strawberry...FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. Their Happy Hour....not too shabby. Priced very well and you get plenty of food. I'd suggest the nachos or enchiladas all for under $5.

Some of the best chicken fajitas I have had. The service was excellent, very attentive waiters and wait staff. We are always looking for new places to try and are very glad we did. They also have the best blackberry margarita that we have tried,

This is our "Go-To" Mexican place, actually Its our go-to if we are around and hungry. I love everything on the menu, their salsa is good and their service is friendly. Being around real mexican food in the south, this is about as good as it gets in the northwest. Price is super reasonable and the drinks will make it very hard to grocery shop next door after your meal ;)

This used to be one of our favorite places. But they no longer even sell our favorite item, the item they brought us was underwhelmingly put together and then they overcharged us to boot. Epic fail. We will never go here again.

This is place is just ok. The best thing it has going for it----the coconut margaritas!! YUM!!! The food is just mediocre. Big portions, not a lot of flavor or authenticity. Chips and salsa is decent, but not fabulous. After trying quite a few menu items, I tend to stick with the fajitas. Cheap happy hour. Service has always been pretty good. We go mainly for the drinks now.

Aside from one visit out of many, I have had great service every time and the food is delicious. The vegetable burrito and chicken taquitos are my personal recommendation. Good Happy Hour menu as well!

We were visiting the area and decided on trying this restaurant. Sure glad we did. Everything was excellent. The decor was tasteful and pleasing to the eye. The salsa and guacamole is as good as I have ever had in a restaurant. I had the Carne Asada and my wife had the Steak Fajitas. Both were most excellent. The service was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend and return again to this lovely gem.

Just waited for literally 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence. We were seated and ignored. Sorry but there is way too much competition for business in Gresham to treat your customers like this. See ya!

We ate here on a whim, after having visited one of the other stores that was located in the same shopping complex. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant. I typically go to Mexican restaurants solely for the chips and salsa that they bring out prior to the meal, so with that in mind, the La Cositita's offering was right on par with what I have experience previously. I ordered the chicken fajita salad which arrived in a much larger form than I was anticipating, so it definitely was more than enough food. Service was good; I never had to go more than a few minutes before getting additional water, and the server was very prompt in returning with any items that we need. I would definitely eat here again and highly recommend it for anyone in the area.

They make a gangster burrito: Burro Ranchero. A huge helping of refried beans and rice on the side with a big round tortilla chip loaded up full with sour cream and guacamole as passengers decorate the plate around the burrito. The burrito had pretty much everything you need: meat and onions and peppers. Awesomeness in a flour tortilla. The salsa comes in glass jars so you can feel a little fancy it did not come out of a "plastic cup" but instead you had to tip the bottle and pour your salsa like it was wine. The salsa was not hot at all, but at least it was smooth. Very friendly employees. Clean restroom. What more can you ask for?

We went for dinner. It was a bit before the dinner rush. No wait. Hostess brought us waters, chips and salsa just minutes after we settled in. I don't recall the name of what I ordered but it was basically mini carne asada tacos with cilantro and pineapple. It was really good! I also ordered a medium Margarita and that was near fishbowl size. I can't imagine the large. I docked a star because the plates came so super hot thta we had to wait for them to cool for quite a bit before we could eat.. Plus a little risky with a toddler at the table.

Great service! Amazing food! Not your typical Mexican food a lot of different options! Portions are huge next time I go I will most likely be sharing.

Extremely friendly staff. Great lunch menu. Always clean....even the bathrooms. Salads are good as are the enchiladas.

The fish tacos are delicious. Oh how I love them. They also have good margaritas. Unfortunately this place looses a star due to prices and how much food you get. Compared to La Carreta you get smaller portions and higher prices.

Good food and decent service. I come here often for lunch. They have a really good student lunch special including a drink, 1 enchilada or taco, beans and rice all for only $6. Just enough food and at the right price.

We tried this restaurant last night and were very disappointed. We were seated right next to an entrance to the kitchen. When we asked to move we were seated next to the other entrance to the kitchen. The waitress took our drink order and returned with them as fast as you could poor water. The drinks were terrible. The food was acceptable with good portions but the quality was not worth the prices. When we were asked about the quality I told them that the drinks were terrible. The person helping us just smiled and said "Oh sorry". We will never return and will encourage others not to go.

Disappointed, we come pretty regular and I keep hoping the tacos al pastor will get better. Pork "cubes" were tough and ther was more pineapple (canned) than pork. The black beans were like someone dumped black pepper in them. I think I have given them my last chance. I will stick with the enchiladas. Much cheaper and at least worth the money. The Cadillac margaritas were good. Husbands steak fajitas were also tough.

La Costita can be a surprisingly great experience if you know what its name actually means (The Coast!), and a perfectly good experience if you just want standard Mexican fare. This place shines in its seafood offerings; I say "surprisingly great" because, well, this is Troutdale (aka: suburban hell) and no one in their right might would expect a decently authentic ethnic restaurant of any kind out here. If you want the same old stuff everyone always orders at a Mexican joint, then La Costita won't disappoint. Those who call this restaurant "Americanized" simply aren't being adventurous enough in their ordering and aren't getting the point: if you really read the menu, La Costita is a SEAFOOD restaurant that just happens to also be a Mexican joint. My advice: skip the enchiladas and the chimichanga and order something off the back page of the menu or from the daily specials board. You won't be disappointed, and you may even discover a new delicious Mexican dish you never knew existed.

This is basically a theme restaurant. There is "Aztec" stuff all over the place and the servers call you, "Amigo." In addition to being hilariously racist, the place has crappy food. If you took the cooks/menu from Don Pedro and put them in this cute family restaurant, you would have a 5 star joint. Sadly, this place is slightly above average as Oregonian Mexican food goes, but it still isn't all that good.

Friendly staff, good food. But a little over priced.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
