Talk about bland food, bad "aguas frescas" good beans the first time, bad side of cheese with a little bit of beans the second time and horrible service!! So the first time I went with my friend, service was nice, ordered what they said was A yummy Agua fresca.. Totally wrong should've gone with a soda instead. My chimichanga was whatever, beans where delicious though. So second time I stop to get a side of beans to go. Well I was treated poorly maybe they didn't like that I only ordered a side of beans?? I waited 17 minutes just to get one side of beans! They only had 4 tables if that. I get home to realize that what I thought would be a side of beans was more like a side of cheese with a little bit of beans! I guess I could've just said that this is not worth my time or money.

We came in about 40 minutes before they closed and sat down to eat. They were friendly and helpful, they didn't rush us. I got the steak enchiladas and my friend got some sort of chicken cheese tortilla things. We also ordered a side of chicken taquitos. Everything was great and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. The staff made sure to keep our drinks full too.

Went for the first time a few weeks ago with friends. Although portions may not look as big, they are very filling! I got the mushroom and spinach enchilada with white sauce on top. I recommend this one if you're looking for a good veggie option/something different to try. Taste wasn't "out of this world yum", but was delicious nonetheless. The chips that come out as appetizers are also pretty good. Crispy! The bean dip was a little bland to me, but the salsa was nice. Waiters were also very nice and came by every so often to fill waters and check up on us. I'd probably go again to try the other menu items!

Love this spot! Always a great meal. I recommend the fish taco's wholeheartedly! We had them on Valentines Day for the first time! They were fantastic!!

My meal was not quite worthy of the tres estrellas but most of my party was pretty happy with their meals but I'm a little jaded when it comes to Mexican food. I like it when it feels more homemade than commercial. That being said my review begins with my plate. Three asada tacos that kind of appeared ok on the surface but the corn tortilla looked a bit too soft for my liking. Usually I'm used to tacos being wrapped in a dual corn tortillas that have a little more substance. The biggest issue was the crispy bits of carne that were mostly crunchy and not so much moist and flavorful. But most edible but not enjoyable. The rest of the table seemed relatively satisfied with their meals but according to my sister-in-law they pretty much are there every week so it's obvious that they really like the place me I could take it or leave it and my wife feels the same. We're a bit spoiled cause we love Mi Pueblo in the Clackamas area which is so much better. I'll finish off this review by saying that I might try it again but I would definitely not get the tacos asada but might try one of the enchilada platters.

Wow. I frequent this restaurant about twice a month, at least, and am shocked at the rating here on yelp. Hmmm... I rarely find a Mexican restaurant where the food is tasty and authentic along with excellent service. Beautifully decorated, always clean and inviting. Staff attentive and great with kids! My most highest recommendation!

I was reluctant to come here because of the low Yelp rating (and I'm kind of a food snob) but I was pleasantly surprised! Dinner was yummy and service was good!

disappointed with the food. seems to have only 3 meat options: chicken, ground beef and shredded beef. the food is not that good and so pricey for what you get. don't know about the area but there's way better Mexican food in Portland metro

So this is a decent mexican restaurant. We went to try it out. We got the chicken taquitos as an appetizer and they were 5 stars! So good. We got a margarita and that was good too. I am however giving it 3 stars because the rest of the food was just OK. It was good. I wouldn't mind going back. But to me it's not the best. Again besides those taquitos which were amazing! Service was awesome too. Very friendly staff. We did not have to wait long for our food.

The food is pretty decent, nothing terribly authentic, but I would eat it. The reason why it's 1 out of 5 is for the service. I haven't been back in a year or two because of it. So my friend and I order the same thing, and the waiter brings only one plate. I said it was fine, but he didn't seem convinced. So minutes after leaving, he came back and asked why I was being a bitch about it, which completely caught the two of us offguard. It was totally uncalled for and I really didn't deserve such treatment. There are so many other places to visit, Don Pedros will provide better service and food if you're craving mexican.

They are lucky to get 1 star after our dinner experience tonight. A group of us chose this place because we each had coupons. When we got there we waited an exceptionally long time for someone to come to our table. When we ordered we told the waiter we had the coupons and he advised us that despite the fact there would be 2 or 3 separate checks they would not let us use more than one coupon because we were sitting at the same table. The coupons fine print said one coupon per person not per table. We then waited 30 mins to get our drinks. 30 mins! They charge for extra chips and drink refills. We asked for a manager to discuss the coupon issue, the fact we were waiting way too long to get drinks and food, & the rudeness of or waiter and he could care less. He offered free desert. Really? To top it off the food really isn't that good. There are tons of good Mexican food places in the area so do yourself a favor and go to one of those.

Went back for lunch the other day and ordered the shrimp and steak fajitas. Just as good as I remember. They get the food out quick. The update is for the fried ice cream. A few months ago we got ordered it and it was a small scoop of ice cream, and now it is worthy of sharing. My son and I were both shocked when saw the size of it coming out to the table.

Being a southern California native I know what Mexican food is suppose to taste like. This is basically institutionalized southwestern food. The service was pretty good, the food filled me up but it was pretty tasteless. OK food, decent price, average service, bland.

Was here nearly a year ago. Pretty average Mexican food. At our last visit, we ordered a margarita and it had no alcohol in it. We weren't being snobby but I know my tequila in this drink had none of it. I sincerely thought they just forgot it. When we brought attention to our waiter, they didn't take our drink back. Instead they brought us a shot of some generic tequila to add. Whatever. Added the shot, continued with our meal. Got the bill. Charged us $12 for a shot of Jose and wouldn't consider taking it off our bill. This was one of our favorite local joints for a quick chimmy, but we will never be back. Really unfortunately as several of the waitresses we had previously were vey nice.

Don't get regular margarita. Order the gold. Worth it. Often meet family here. Good atmosphere for kids. Basic, good, hot food. Quick service. Verde pork...yummy.

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! I bought their Restaurants.com certificates that clearly say "Troutdale" location and the would not honor them. They said it was for the Aloha store. After a long battle with Restaurants.com they credited me the $ but the Troutdale location still shows on the site. The guy was less than apologetic...he kept saying "See logo on paper, it no match our logo" (while pointing to his fancy shirt). They should honor them until it is fixed on the Restaurants.com site. Won't go back...used to love this place.

The food was just okay, I can't suggesting avoiding this place completely, but I wouldn't make a special trip out of my way to go here. I'd have been happier with Chipotle really. I had a house burrito with shredded beef. There wasn't much beef in the burrito, but plenty of rice and beans both inside the burrito and served along side it. It looked just like a Macho burrito from Azteca, but really missed the mark by comparison. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. We'll probably go back, unless we find something a little better.

REALLY AWFUL FOOD AND SERVICE!!! We eat at many Mexican restaurants and this place was really bad. My Carne Asada was dry and tasteless. I ordered a glass of wine and it came in a very small glass and only HALF full?? About 3 sips is all and about 4 bucks. What an insult! Our waitress was so bored and so rude. I guess if I were starving to death on Survivor Island, I'd be happy to have their food, but otherwise, there are MANY great Mexican restaurants in the area. Avoid this one!

Great location..... Plenty of parking...... Servers are friendly... food is good. I too had purchased the restaurant.com certificate(s) for what I thought to be.. for this particular restaurant. I see other posts where people only rated this restaurant ONE star because the restaurant REFUSED to honor the certificate from restaurant.com . The PROBLEM is: restaurant.com POSTS these certificates out there WITHOUT prior consent from the restaurant owner/management. I can say that this NOT only occurred to me at this restaurant but also at a restaurant in Gresham (Mediterranean). They too told me that restaurant.com had done the same thing to them. I wonder just how many people placed a negative rating on that restaurant solely because they refused to honor a certificate which was place there illegally in the first place. I have registered a complaint with the Oregon Attorney General's office regarding restaurant.com I come to learn that there are quite a few complaints regarding this website. So, the end result should be: caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

The service here plain sucks. Sad to say but it's true. The food? Not at all bad. It's a shame too because I would like to go back but not after the crappy service that I received. If the owner is reading this, you need to do some in house cleaning and hire new people.

I stopped in for a to-go order and purchased a few items: Cheese Nachos with tomatoes and guac on the side, cheese nachos, chicken taquitos and an extra big bag of chips and salsa. Easy enough, right? First, I was quoted 5 minutes before it would be ready. Which sounded good so I ordered. 20+ minutes later I finally got my food. Secondly, like I previously stated, I asked for the tomatoes and guac that came with one of my orders on the side. This was not in the bag. Thirdly, the server asked me if I wanted hot salsa. I said sure and he went back to get some after I already had my food in hand. After 5 minutes of waiting I simply left. The food was getting cold and their act was getting old. Finally, I asked for extra chips and salsa. I paid for extra chips and salsa. It cost me $7 for extra chips and salsa. I didn't get anything 'extra' and thus I will be making a return trip back there this evening to get my money back. There's always going to problems that arise when you work in a service industry. When they do I believe you should go out of the way to fix them. They offered nothing to fix the wait or anything. You're better off paying more to go to LaCosita or paying less and going to La Carreta. At least at those places, if they keep you waiting, they work to ensure your business in other ways.

After a day out shopping, my wife and I decided to try this restaurant near our hotel. The interior was clean and open, plenty of seating. Hostess and waitress were friendly and we were sat, with salsa, chips and a small bowl of complimentary bean dip! Good start! Food arrived fairly quickly within 15 minutes of ordering. I tried that Spinach enchiladas and my wife had a combo with a shredded beef chimi and a chicken burrito. Food was good, much better than some of the other local mexican places we have tried over the years!! Price was decent - two full meals with drinks for under $25. Service was good, attentive but not overly so, friendly. We would recommend this restaurant to others, and we will eat here again on future trips to the area.

This is NOT a good place to eat! As a 23 year + career firefighter for the city of Gresham we KNOW food and this place is like SO many mexican joints in the area, they SUCK! It is salamander prepared, americanized mexican food that tastes like CRAP! DO NOT spend your money at these places.....GROSS!

I purchased gift certificates through Restaurant dot com for this restaurant only a month prior to going here. The restaurant gets money for selling these gift certificates through Restaurant.com , but when we arrived there were signs on the door saying they will not honor the Restaurant.com gift certificate. What do you call it when a business sells you gift certificates then decides, well I want to keep the money the customer gave me and not give them anything for it? Fraud and Theft. I have run into a number of Mexican restaurants that have a problem honoring Restaurant.com and Entertainment Book coupons. This must be a cultural thing where the restaurant owners believe they are magically just given money by gringo customers and don't have to provide a service in return. Maybe ICE agents should take a look into these businesses as well as Oregon DOJ, but this is a totally unacceptable business practice and shady business does not deserve my money.

They start you out with 3 salsas a mild hot and green and also give a warm bean dip all very tasty..the service is outstanding and the food was really good .chili relleno used a whole green chili and the big burrito with chicken was super.. chicken chimichungas where average and a little small..they had a Sunday buffet that looked like it had a lot of choices..i will return to this restaurant again and i recommend you give it a try

This place is yet another example of how Oregon can't learn how to make Mexican food. Now this is a "family-style" Mexican restaurant - that kind of place is less common these days - and the chains that once represented them are mostly long gone (remember when El Torito and Acapulco were easy-to-find major chains?). I don't mean that they serve big plates and you share - like "family-style" Chinese restaurants. I just mean that it's not a taqueria and it's not a white tablecloth affair. The menu is standardized, inauthentic, and overly large in these kinds of places, and the food is generally somewhat crap. But my generation loves nostalgia, and I spent my early days in Southern California, so I flock to "family-style" Mexican restaurants as they remind me of the late 80's and early 90's when I wore batman Chuck Taylors and my favorite movie was "Dick Tracy." Ok, that was never my favorite movie, but I digress... This restaurant automatically appeals to me because it connects directly to my Gen-Y nostalgia bone. But the food was just crap. Even this overly simple, out-of-a-can type of "family-style" Mexican food can't be done well in Oregon. Why is Chipotle the best Mexican food north of Sacramento? It just doesn't make sense! This place honestly gets an extra star just because it's clean and the lunch specials are very cheap.

What used to pass as a place to go to eat if you were in the area has degenerated into a "stay away". Terrible food, poor service and no AC or heat for about as much as you'd pay anywhere else for actual food and service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
