I have gone here three times and every one of my experiences were terrific. There was one patron last time who was so obnoxious that it ruined the mood while they were still seated but after they and their family moved away from the table to the cute little shop the whole aura of the room brightened and it was back to game on. High tea game! My husband always goes in with the intention of not going for the whole three tiered beauty but it turns out he is really easy to convince once he peeks a stand coming out to someone. And someday when I have more time to spend at the coast I will probably treat myself to something lighter here. However, we are usually celebrating a special occasion and are out in Tillamook as a pretty rare treat. Can't say enough about the nosh and tea. There are so many options of tea to choose from you could have different kinds for weeks. It's really everything one would hope for when they enter this kind of affair. Have never found any of the food lacking, it's just an awful lot of rich, decadent, and right-sized bits. Still, pace yourself! You can get a box when you find that your eating power has worn down but do try to get to everything - I always take home half-eaten desserts and my other half seems to think once he has the tray in front of him it's a competition to the finish. He knows I won't get done, but at least he isn't hungry for a while.... Now that I think about it we may be overdue for a visit.

My family are tea crazy and have been to tea houses all over the nation. When we go on vacation, any and all teahouses are on our agenda of family activities. We have seen many different interpretations of what a teahouse is; from the elegant formality of the St. James in Albuquerque to the grab a cup, cafe style of the Tea Cozy in Portland. I rate LA Tea Da 3.5 stars. The decor had an antique feel that fit the tearoom theme but seemed a bit tired and their gift shop is more aimed towards the tourists than the true tea lover. The tea service itself was lovely. I got the second most expensive option and loved everything. The sandwiches were tasty and unique, my scones delicious, and the desert was to die for. My daughter got the kids option and her plate had the little details that made it a tea party plate while also playing up to her limited palate. The teas are blended in house but were subpar. I tried the pear black, passionfruit black, and decaf Irish breakfast. They weren't loaded with flavors but nor were they weak. They were served beautifully and my daughter got a cute cat set. Okay, onto why they got three instead of four stars. They claim to be kid friendly but the lady who served us was very slow and grumpy. She had no patience for my admittedly overly chatty four year old and forced my daughter into not doing anything herself but instead SHE got my daughter her cream and sugar ready in the cup. That's my daughter's favorite part of tea. She also did not seem too pleased over my baby's squeals for more food. It made my tea experience harried and rushed which was not fair considering our table spent well over $50 and my daughter had no fun. I will think twice about bringing my kids there. All in all, they won us over with their food but lost us with their service. We might go there again once more, sans the kids, so the rest of the family can try it, then move onto greener pastures.

We love this place, we've gone at least twice a year since they opened. We've never been disappointed. All the tea sandwiches are excellent. They have the most creative tea sandwich line up. My favorite is the Cinnamon swirl bread with strawberries, cream cheese and Havarti. I know what you're thinking, but just go with it. They're all amazing. La Tea Da thank you for being creative and not serving egg salad and cucumber sandwiches!! There are always two scones served with high tea one savory one sweet and both are good. The tea room itself has a great atmosphere and I can't say enough about the presentation. I have been to high tea in many cities, states and countries and this is one of the best. I recommend this place to anyone. Also for the men, my husband a total "guys guy" loves this place and walks away overly full. The kids high tea is great too and is presented equally as nice as the regular high tea. It says a lot that they don't overlook their tiny patrons. When my kids were still in high chairs they accommodated that as well. I can't say a bad thing about this place only that I wish I lived closer.

Charming place, excellent service and good food. What more can one ask for? Wife got the high tea and I went for a soup and tea sandwiches plate. We brought home 4 of her deserts for later. Delightful ambiance and pleasant music while we ate. A highlight of our day.

Let me start by saying...I LOVE the idea of this tea room. This is a "ladies who lunch" place with a nice selection of teas and tiny tea munchies. A group of my coworkers and I went here one afternoon for a fun time. I am only giving two stars because I have had better...and personally, the ham salad sandwich still makes me dry heave just thinking about it. It is something that I despise and should have looked before I bit into it. Stick with the desserts ladies. There's no reason for something that resembles spam to be on my plate, especially if I am paying for it. Free spam? Well, maybe. Free spam with mayo? No thank you. Some of their other items were a bit dry and/or bland (the scones come to mind). Their teas and cute little tea cozies are a great touch, and the service was nice...but truthfully, nice doesn't cut it when ham salad comes into play.
