South Bend Bistro

I have been a guest or homeowner in Sunriver since 1971 and have seen a lot of changes, Seriously, South Bend Bistro is a wonderful restaurant. Please don't get sidetracked as it is not an "In Season" walk-in friendly chow-house. They are professional enough to only stock and prep what they can do for an evening. The food is prepared with great care and the wait staff is enthusiastic and truthful in what is offered on the menu. libation and food prices are more than fair. Shrimp Cakes - Amazing and something I will always hope never changes. We can't say enough but trust these good reviews and encourage this establishment to continue on the path they are on. Yes, better than the best in Bend for quality of food, yes really. Make reservations well in advance and enjoy.
My husband had his first meal at South Bend Bistro this week with business associates and loved it so much he made reservations for him and I to come back. The owner greeted us by name and remembered what my husband had ordered with his clients! She made us feel like we were old friends and took excellent care of us from start to finish. The food is absolutely wonderful! Fresh, tasty and I'm guessing mostly local ingredients. We both had salads, shared an entree, shared a dessert and each had a margarita and our bill was only $66!! We are in love with this place and will support them as often as we can. Please know this is a small and intimate place and reservations are a must. Do not expect to walk in and have them accommodate you. They plan their food and number of reservations to make sure their patrons feel well taken care of.
Best meal during our trip to Bend/Sunriver. Welcoming service as soon as we walked in which continued through the evening. Started with the Caesar Salad which was served family style for the table. One of the best I have had. Even my daughter who eats her salads dressing-less enjoyed it as served. I also indulged in the Mushroom Soup special. Earthly tones and not overly rich. Outstanding. For dinner, I had the halibut. Good portion and cooked perfectly. The dill sauce was served on the side which was ideal as I like just a touch for dipping. Came with green beans and mashed yukons. Great dish. For dessert, I had the coconut macadamia tart with vanilla ice cream. Nice way to end the meal. Also, Decent wine list priced right. Don't miss out on the Bistro. Just be sure to make a reservation as the restaurant is small.

Big Belly Burgers & Brew

We wanted a tasty burger that wouldn't cost us our first born. BigBelly is amazing! RPM on tap. Jalapeño burger. It's a win win
First off, I'm addicted to the flavor of food. I don't mean I love to eat it and yes, obviously, I need to eat to survive, but I mean it is like a drug addiction for me. Thank goodness I still get full, but when I get food that tastes good, I'll eat until I literally can't fit anymore even though I was full halfway through the meal. That being said, I have eaten a lot of food in my life and I spend a majority of my budget seeking out really amazing restaurants. I've gone to some of the most expensive restaurants in Oregon, Hawaii, and Washington, and other places in the US. I must say that Oregon has been lacking in the burger department for me. Don't get me wrong, there are a few places that have good burgers, but not amazing burgers. This place does!! This place is so amazing that I actually downloaded this app to write my first positive review ever. Even though I'd been to such amazing places, I never felt moved enough to write a review. Amazing sushi, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, steak, pizza, Vietnamese, etc are easy to food in Oregon, but burgers are difficult for some weird reason. My girlfriend and I are staying in Sunriver for the weekend. We live in Lake Oswego. When we drove up, my girlfriend was a little nervous. It's a hole in the wall place and no one was parked there. It looks slightly sketchy on the outside. I encouraged her to try it anyway. She was so thankful that I did! Don't let the outside and lack of patrons fool you. This place is a MUST! As the chef made the food, I could smell how incredible the flavor would be. When it finally came out, I literally couldn't even stop long enough to take a picture to post. I ate it in under 3 minutes because I couldn't put it down. I had the chunky blue cheese burger with the spuds and a side of beer cheese. Yes! BEER CHEESE! Please order it! Anyway, the burger was cooked perfectly, had lots of flavor, was super moist and the veges on it were fresh. The bacon was super crispy, just like it should be. The spuds were firm, yet crispy. The service was friendly. They aren't like a fancy restaurant where they check on you every 5 minutes, which I appreciated actually. It would've been super embarrassing to have her witness me demolish that burger. Bottom line: AMAZING FOOD! BEST BURGERS IN OREGON! (At least that I've tried and I actively seek out burger places since I couldn't find a good one before this).
Great burger and fantastic service. Plus one of the employees gave a lift to a local bike shop so I could fix my flat. You are awesome!!

This place is no good. Do not eat here. I don't think they know what food is supposed to taste like.

Made it possible for my family to have dinner when no one else would actually made special arrangements for us to eat in the back room since they were book for the next 2 hours not suggesting they can do that every time but wow thank you for going out of your way to accommodate my family also food was great!!! Thank you!!
We had my wedding rehearsal dinner here in 2012 so I definitely have a soft spot for the restaurant. We enjoy Marcello's and the consistency offered. Meals are always good to outstanding and service is attentive, every trip. Have enjoyed conversing with the owner in the bar area on numerous occasions. Definitely a great dining option in Sunriver.
Had reservations and we were seated right away. Decor is a bit dated. Indoor and patio seating available. The Chicken Marsala was flavorful. Not overdone with wine and mushrooms. I subbed out the mashed for angel hair. Fresh green beans came as the veggie side. My daughter had the fettuccine with marinara. Good sized portion for $12. Sauce was very good. My wife had the Chicken Caesar. Again, good sized for $12. She did not particularly enjoy the dressing. Service was attentive but a bit slow. However, they had to move the patio seating indoors due to a sudden storm so that may have caused some disruption. Overall, it was a good choice.

Basecamp Grill

Reviews:
Basecamp Grill has been a diamond in the rough for some time. They may possibly serve up the best burger in Central Oregon and beyond. You know the ones where you need lots and lots of napkins and there is no way to look tidy when consuming one. I have had relatives visit from out of town that said it was "The best burger they have ever had". The menu goes beyond burgers with a variety of sandwiches, soup, appetizers, breakfast items and a fairly decent beer selection. The service is personal and friendly. If they are really busy the wait time could be a tad bit long, but it's worth it. Try the Volcano Burger. Salute.
We have been here a few times and the service hasn't ever been friendly, the food pretty mediocre. The burgers are basic frozen patties, chicken strips always dry and salad is basically iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, and olives . The milkshakes are good though. Breakfasts ok. The fried chicken was hit or miss. We kept trying because it was affordable in the area but we were always disappointed and would rather just cook at home then spend the money on unfriendly service and food that was eh. And after everyone in our group getting food poisoning we have been done with base camp. It's been a year since we have gone back.. Perhaps it has improved... but not really wanting to try.
Great experience! Fast, very friendly and outstanding burgers! Highly recommend giving them a try...well worth your time and $!

If you AREN'T in a hurry this is a great place to go. On 2 separate occasions, 2 years apart, this place has been very, very slow on service. Super slow. You order your food and it takes at least 20 min. to receive your first round, our order was salads, come on, how long does it take to make a salad? I feel sorry for the customers next to us a little, they had arrived before us and they didn't get their food till 10 minutes after us. Waitress was polite, however only came to the table when she had too, there was no clearing of the plates or anything until the very end. I felt like she must have got stuck in bar area chatting with someone and forgot about us. Food was great. The chocolate cake is out of this world. Really good. Prices seem right in there. Service is a big thing to me - so they get 2 stars.
I Loveeed the Village bar & Grill. I was just here last week and they had the best french fries I have ever had. I am vegetarian and I love that they had a veggie patty substitute for their burgers. The service was extremely quick and the waitress was very nice. I also stayed in Sunriver through "Sunset Lodging" rentals and got 10% off for staying with them. Woot woot! Their prices were very reasonable. When I visit Sunriver again, I will definitely go back.
We enjoyed our lunch. It was lovely to sit on the patio. The menu didn't have a kids section, but the waitress said they did indeed have one and it "had the basics" on it. My 11 year old ordered the kids hamburger and enjoyed it. The fries were fresh and hot. I took the suggestion of the waitress and ordered the thai lettuce wraps. They were spicy! Luckily, I am a fan of spicy. I very much enjoyed them. The portion was so large that I brought a bit back to the condo. The price is a tad on the higger side, but justifiable from what I ate. It is Sunriver, so I think they can charge a few dollars more than bend. 3.00 for a strawberry lemonade that does not come with refills, but it was yummy. 14.00 for my lettuce wrap. In Seattle it would have been 11 dollars, but in Seattle you would have 100 restaurants on 1 block to choose from. Plus, like I said it was great.

Crosswater

The Crosswater restaurant is at the golf course in Sunriver. It's a private, member only place but is open to Sunriver Resort guests. We went here for dinner Friday night and had a great time! First, since it's off season, they are only open on Friday and Saturday nights. Second, the food was amazing! We started with the fondue and it's probably the best I've ever had in my life. I am still craving more! The entrees were tasty and unique as well. I ordered the salmon which came with crab legs, shrimp ravioli, and some kind of bean and tomato salad. It was delicious. The only complaint is that we ate so much we couldn't try dessert! :(
My husband and I were staying at the Sunriver resort for a little getaway and decided to go out for a "nice dinner". The sunriver site sold this place as fine dining and lists a dress code as well. Ill take any excuse to get a bit dolled up on vacation! I broke out the little black dress and the husband begrudgingly switched his laid back vacation attire to business casusal and off we went to our 730 reservation, looking pretty great if I do say so myself. We show up and oh man did we feel out of place. Folks were in jeans/shorts/sneakers, etc. I got a look from the husband that screamed "why did you make me change" as he went to tell the hostess we had arrived. 20 minutes later, not a soul has come in to check on the overdressed couple in the lobby, meanwhile the dining area had a number of tables sitting empty. Feeling uncomfortable, unwanted and hungry we left, changed into jeans and I popped on shoes that didn't make my feet scream, and we went to Sunriver brewing. If that's what they consider "fine dining" here I want no part of it. I was quite happy with my beer and burger.
We were a group of nine guys that wanted some sandwiches for lunch and a couple of beers after a nice round of golf. We had to go get our menus, beers took 20 minutes, food was delivered in 60 minutes. Extremely disappointing service. We just about left to go get fast food on the way back to the valley, but we were kept being told the food was coming out shortly. We will not be dining there again, as this was not the first time that they have had terrible service.
