Went here after the Ducks game last night. My date had Rib eye, Cajun Grilled Chicken for myself. The steak was a very thin cut and overcooked. Cajun Chicken was butterflied, overcooked and super dry. While eating the meal it occurred to me that the best thing about it had been the bread and butter.

This is definitely a place to bring family, not a first date. In other words, if you need to impress someone, go elsewhere. The food is decent, the atmosphere family friendly (crunch crunch go the peanuts under your feet) and the service average. If you're looking for an average steakhouse/bbq place that has average steaks/ribs then, well, here we are. For the good stuff, there are plenty of better places. Overall, a family oriented steak/bbq place where the only things really memorable are the yeast rolls with honey butter and peanut shells stuck to your boots.

I'm not going to lie, this was my first experience at ORG, and I do think that this will probably be one of my last experiences. The service was horrible, (maybe understaffed) and the food was mediocre. The steak was dry and tough, even though it was asked for with pink in the middle and the veggies were not steamed through. The pulled pork was dry and had no substance to it, and the garlic mashed potatoes were no where near anything that could possibly be edible. The one thing that I did want (prime rib) they were out of. (What kind of grill house runs out of prime rib at 7:30?) The only things good about ORG were their vast options of lemonades and bread. The lemonade was a bit over sweet (and served in a mason jar) but were quite tasty. If you decide to try ORG, go with a group, make sure you have one of each of the lemonades on the table and try each one. All in all, if you decide to go, I recommend getting an appetizer, bread and lemonade. But that's it. Happy Eating.

We stopped in for an early dinner. I ordered the tri tip and chicken, my wife ordered the ribs and chicken and the kids had cheeseburgers. The food was ordinary (not remarkable) with the exception of the piece of tri tip, it was quite good. My wife had ribs that came out way too dry to eat. The server brought a second batch that were acceptable, but not as good as ribs should be. The children finished their burgers without being asked so they must have been good, as my kids are picky when it comes to burgers. The service was a tad on the slow side considering the time of day, but it wasn't completely horrible as our server was pleasant and accommodating. I only gave the place two stars because it was just ok. and at the prices they charge I think they need to be better than that. Ribs and chicken should be juicy and tasty, not dry and bland. The tri tip was good, but that was really the only thing that I was glad to have ordered.

I took a friend from out of town to eat there. He is a huge carnivore and likes nothing better than a big ol chunk of dead cow! He had the tri-tip and said it was incredibly good. It was so tender he was able to cut it with his fork. Not being a carnivore, I had a big platter of nicely seasoned veggies and several of those to die for rolls with butter. To top all that off we had a nice local beer. I see some people haven't had that good of experiences there but so far, I have only had good experiences at Roadhouse Grill. I went on a weeknight and it was busy but not slammed. Maybe that is the difference.

If you're into devouring one or more large slabs of meat in a single sitting, this may be the place for you. No? What kind of man and/or American are you?! Belly up to the table and loosen your belt! Don't you know that it's patriotic to have a fupa? I've been dragged here a few times for work lunches. I tried to be a sport about it and ordered the fish and attempted to make healthy choices. The quality of the fish has been pretty decent, but I just can't get behind most of the food they have here: - I ordered broccoli for one of my sides and opted to not add bacon or cheese. The mushy, overcooked broccoli was devoid of crunch and drenched in way too much buttery goo. Mmm, healthy! - They offer several flavors of fruited lemonade. When I asked the waitress if there was actual fruit in the lemonade or if it was just sweetened with flavored syrup, I got a blank stare, followed by a repeat recitation of the flavors. Sampling by various members of my team revealed that only the strawberry lemonade is made with actual pieces of fruit, but there was definitely a large amount of sugar as well. I prefer my lemonade more tart than sweet. If you do too, just stick with the water, which seemed quite potable. - Once I ordered a sweet potato as a side, expecting a mashed yam with butter but got a big baked russet potato that had brown sickly-sweet syrup on it. It was in every way inedible. I asked some of my Texas-escapee friends if this is the kind of thing that they ate back home and got responses in the "WTFBBQ" range. I can sympathize with the view that my review is not entirely fair - after all, it would be silly to give a Thai restaurant a one star review and comment, "I don't like Thai food." However, if my words help at least one other foodie to persuade his/her boss to NOT go here for their next Team-Building Lunch, they have served their intended purpose.

This place is awesome, the atmosphere is very casual and fun. There are peanuts all over the place, at first I thought that's kinda gross but very quickly got used to it and threw them with everyone else. The meat is always cooked just the way you order it and the bread that comes with everything is AMAZING. They have this great honey butter to go with it. One last thing I have to recommend is the strawberry lemonade. It comes in a mason jar with the rim dipped in sugar and the strawberries seem fresh. This is where I went for my 21st birthday. Its a little spendy but have never been disappointed form the flavor.

As noticed by others, peanuts freely thrown to others and peanut shells on the floor is an unique gimmick, but I hate tracking all that peanut muck into my car!! The ribs in my order of Baby Back Ribs and Grilled Shrimp Combo were okay but lacked a bit of meat. The measly five tiny grilled shrimp on a skewer were tasteless though grilled. I have had more meat on ribs back in Spain with much more meat, and the shrimp eaten in SF were much more bigger than these. The waitress was very smiley and patient, but it took 15 mins to get the order in for drinks, about the same to get it, and another 15 to order the food, then 20mins to get served. Perhaps that's the reason for the peanuts to crunch on while waiting so long. Very busy and the Gateway Mall parking was very convenient but for what good if the peanuts were the only joke & highlight. Stay away unless you really like peanuts and have a lot of patience. Oh, the bread rolls were small but very hot and tasty!!!

i almost gave this place one star, but i like the nuts and the rolls. problem is, those are free. the steak - supposedly a signature dish - however was not so good. i ordered a medium ribeye and it was meh. maybe a little undercooked, and the flavor wasn't too bright. the salad was fine...but it was just a caesar salad. macaroni was just okay. next time i go - if i go back - i'll prolly get the chicken. who can mess up chicken???...

Former Texan here, and we KNOW our BBQ! Food is good, not great. Fun to eat the peanuts and chunk the shells on the floor. I like the ribs here, haven't tried much else. About the best BBQ restaurant Eugene / Springfield has to offer. Watch for specials, otherwise a bit pricey for what you get.

    (3)
  • Flory W.

We've been to 3 Roadhouse Grill Restaurants before, we're visiting Eugene for the night, and THERE are so many restaurants around Springfield or Eugene to choose from, but we decided why not! We were told we have 5 mins. to wait. We were seated in less than 3. We didn't wait very long, when we started to get attention, and our drinks delivered. I guess, I should have taken LONGER to read the menu, but it's now 7PM, and we have an early start in the morning . . . . Hamburger is probably all I can eat. Something quick and easy and no fuss. My first burger, I could tell it was gonna be spicy. It was just covered with lots of pepper. I just try to scoop them out, but I know it's gonna be spicy, but the waitress could tell it's not something I'd eat. I tasted dh's Rice Pilaf and that too was spicy! His Ribs was also covered with the same spice mine was. Did I gave her the look, like "let Mikey eat it!" Anyway, she was happy to take it back and get me a new one. The 2nd burger was TOO RAW. I was fixing my burger, plop the bread back in, and YES, it was the same wheat bun that I had earlier. While I was cutting my burger in 4ths, my hands were already covered with grease. The bread was soggy! The burger was so raw it was dripping with juice & the meat was cool to touch. I didn't order raw meat. I told her I know in Great Britain, they will eat raw meat, but I like mine cooked more. So, she went and ordered me a new one. I guess when they say "third time is a charm", this was just perfect. Even the bun was as dry as a bone. When cutting my burger into 4ths, my hands don't need wiping, they were still dry! Their Original House Burger did not have a description on the menu. After visiting the Roadhouse for the 3rd time, this is the first time I have to send my food back TWICE. I should remember what it was that I ordered the first two times, but the waiter told me: "All of their foods are ALL SPICY!" REALLY? Then, why was I happy the first two visits? My burger had the asterisk after it, maybe that tells me if that menu or food was spicy or not. It wasn't. So how can anyone ANYONE know the Roadhouse trademark was going to be SPICY? This was on their menu . . . .Guarantee "We grill: what you want, how you want it, everytime!" *Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions. ANOTHER thing . . . ALL the waitresses have long hair on a pony tail. I do volunteer work in the kitchen as a waitress, and I was told to wear a hairnet or put my hair up, so no hair was sticking out. I guess, they're more relaxed there! I'm not sure I'd visit a 4th time, it could be worst than the 3rd one! I would have been happier just ordering McD's burger or Elmer's which is a few steps away from our hotel room. One positive about this place . . . . their bread was baked right from the oven, so they're very very hot when they arrive to your table! The whipped butter spilt on the fresh backed bread, two of them were covered with whipped melted butter.

Went for happy hour 2-3 I think, had a nice lemonadee thing, awesome. Friend had sliders & shrimp skewers, shrimp was a little overcooked but the sliders were good. Worth a try.

Yuck. Don't go here people. Have a little culture and expand you horizons a little. This place is so generic and lacking in actual flavor. Also, - Big News - this place will make you (or keep you) FAT.

Located right in the front parking lot of Gateway Mall, the Original Roadhouse Grill of Springfield has been a corporate chain mainstay for quite some time. Like all Roadhouse Grill establishments, one should find peanuts everywhere and a flurry of them on the ground each morning. Food has been good here for the most part, except during the tailend of their open hours (usually 1 hour left). The service features some very stunning waitresses, but also very lackadaisical service during weeknights. I crave their Southwestern Egg Rolls, sweet Hawaiian bread on occasion, but will try to make my visits closer to their afternoon time when things are not as busy. Beware of the huge lines on any given line, the wait time has been too much to bear for those who are doing the "dinner + movie" outing.

After driving for about 2 hours, I was looking forward to a nice meal and some ice cold beer. Arriving at 9pm I figure it wouldn't take long to be seated. 90% of the tables were empty but all were dirty, so I had to wait anyway. Walking to my table, I noticed sad looks on customers faces. It did not take too long for my face to turn sad just like theirs. I waited 10 minutes for my drink order to be taken, then 15 minutes for my cold beer to arrive (I'm glad it was cold), then after an hour, my food showed up. But I only ordered the chili. In conclusion, the overall experience was lousy, the waiter was very friendly, and the food was below excelent.

We were choosing a place to go for a birthday party and ending up choosing here since other people had said it had good food. We called a couple days earlier and they told us they don't take reservations, but we could call 30 min prior and they would have tables ready for our party of 11. When we got to the restaurant 30 min after we called, the hostess told us it would be ready soon as they were clearing off other tables. We told the hostess it was a birthday party and asked if we could get some sort of dessert for the individual. The hostess obliged and said they would do something. What ended up as a seemingly 10 minute wait for a table turned into over an hour. Even though we had put our names down before other parties, they were seated ahead of us. We were standing right next to the hostess, so she knew we were waiting for a table. There were several parties of 5, a party of 7, and many others who were seated before us. In one instance, two parties of 5 were called and seated right next to each other. After an hour of waiting, we complained to the hostess that we had been waiting and they almost finished a whole other waiting list page before we were seated. The hostess then asked if we wanted to split up, after having sat all the other parties. We told her no, we had waited that long, it was a birthday party, and they said they would have our table ready. When the other tables opened, she should have asked if we wanted to split up instead of waiting until we complained. Several times the hostess said they were waiting for a table to finish, yet they kept seating people next to them, filling all the tables and not creating room for our party. About 10 minutes after we complained, we were sat outside in the patio, some of the chairs being foldable and some the normal chairs. Before we had arrived, the patio was completely empty. So we settled outside in the patio in the cold since we had waited so long and were hungry. After the meal, the server completely forgot about the birthday party and nothing was arranged. We didn't want to deal with it, so we left without having any birthday celebrations. In short, the food and drinks were decent, but the service was terrible. If we hadn't called ahead, we would have waited over an hour and a half for a table that was already empty. The hosts don't know how to move tables around to seat large parties

Great food that was served pretty fast for a Fri night, waitress was friendly and attentive too. What more can you ask for?! Great BBQ food

The restaurant had a great atmosphere.... great waiter BUT disgusting practices. While I was dining I watched the "meat guy" in the window clean the bbq'er with a broom type brush that he kept setting on the dirty floor after every time he cooked a steak! Now I know some people would say it's hot enough to burn any germs BUT what about hair, grease, dirt & other disgusting things that are on that dirty kitchen floor?!?! Also, noticed that the female restroom was horrible!! My green beans were old and cold. When I asked for new green beans they just reheated them in the microwave! Still was old but warmer?!?

I stopped by here for lunch with the family before heading over to a game. I have to say, I'm not too impressed. First off, it's lunch time, have a lunch menu that covers weekends too. Don't want a big dinner meal at lunch time. So that limits the menu to a couple of sandwiches and burgers. Most of us had the burgers. Nothing special and honestly kind of dry. Yes it was bison, but still, and personally don't care for pepper on my burgers, but there it is. We did order a sampler appetizer, which was ok, not particularly fond of BBQ sauce on potato skins and wasn't too sure what all the mystery sauces were. Yes, you get peanuts in the shell and can throw the shells on the floor, but that's no reason to come in. On a positive note, we ordered a blackberry lemonade and that was very good and came in a very large mason jar with the rim sugar covered. Tasty!!

My first time at the road house, I chose this place after reviewing yelp, although it had quite a few bad reviews I decided to take a work group of 8 here. Every body loved the food , definitely some of the better ribs I have had. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Despise all of the bad reviews I give the original road house five out of five, friendly , fast, tasty, and the rustic uniqueness of the building is great. Definitely returning to this restaurant soon.

I walked in and immediately walked out!! The place was not busy, we got seated in an usual table, and the table was dirty! When you put your hands on the table it was like placing them on a fly trap! Gross! I don't think I'll make it back there any time soon!

Had a wonderful date night tonight at Roadhouse our waitress (Misty I believe) was on point! We left stuffed and happy! And I enjoyed throwing peanut shells on the floor very much the drinks in a mason jar gave it a great feel :) thank you all!!

    (5)
  • Troy M.

All in all, a good place to eat. The drinks are good (and huge!, the peanuts are great to munch on while waiting for your table, and the steaks are cooked to your liking. They offer what may be the single best sweet potato on the planet! It's big, and it's served with real butter and a nice sprinkling of cinnamon - mmmm. The cinnamon really complements the natural sweetness of the potato. Great atmosphere, and superb service, but not at all a romantic dinner house, so don't expect quiet ambiance. This is where the working class goes for steak!

    (5)
  • Shawn T.

Greeted us with a smile! Took care our specialty request with a smile. Food looked & smell great! Like other yelpers mentioned, love the peanuts! Also the sweet roles too! Tis has been my fifth time here and always enjoyed our meal and service. Thanks ORH!

  • David H.

Good standard American fare. If you are in the mood for casual steak, burger, ribs or chops for a reasonable price, this is a good choice. The portions are large and the fries are tasty, the lemonade is served in Mason jars and roasted peanuts are served with the menus. The also bring out baskets of freshly baked bread straight out of the oven with a yummy whipped honey butter that makes it impossible to eat just one. As I write this review I am tempted to go back. It's it a five star steakhouse? Nope, but I can't afford to eat Ruth's Chris every night. Would I go here on a romantic date with my wife? Again, not that type of place. But if you just want decent food without breaking the bank in an unpretentious atmosphere, this is a place to consider.

  • Shane Z.

Peanuts Peanuts and more Peanuts! Love sitting down and eating the peanuts! Don't worry about saving the shells on a plate or empty bucket, they just throw them on the floor! I had the Luncheon Harvester Salad and it was excellent! Romain lettuce, artichoke hearts, olives, cucumbers, and feta cheese. Artichoke hearts have a little too much of a Vinegar taste, but the whole salad overall tasted good. I topped it with their Raspberry Pomegranate Vinaigrette which made the salad taste that much better! The service was good, they were pretty fast on getting our food out and keeping our drinks refilled. Great place for a quick lunch!

  • Annie B.

Their ribs melt off the bone, they're that good. Great service and lovely atmosphere, though the peanut shells on the floor take a bit of getting used to.

    (5)
  • Kristin B.

The food was great as usual, the server was great. I was put off by the manager TJ and his excessive flirting with the female wait staff. I didn't see him doing any work and when the females walked by he stared at their backsides. GROSS!

    (4)
  • Renee G.

Disappointed. First time was ok - mostly appetizers. Second time I splurged on my first Ribeye ever - fatty and tough. How is that possible? The salad was full of lettuce hearts and no leaves; rolls are sickly sweet with ever sweeter honey butter. The best part of the meal - the baked potato. Won't be back.

  • Jesse E.

I used to love this restaurant. The last time I went there in Springfield Oregon the steak was horrible and the service was even worse! I ordered a rib eye, which is normally a fattier cut of meat. What I received was 75% fat and 25 meat. The steak was absolutely unacceptable. When I confronted the waiter with my complaint he basically said I shouldnt have ordered the rib eye if I didn't like fat. I promptly paid my bill and left. I will not return to this restaurant again. If it wasnt for several other great experiences I would have rated 1 star

    (2)
  • Adam M.

Is the NW so bad off for good steakhouses this place gets a rating above a two? Ok whatever or whoever was first all I can say is Texas Roadhouse does it waaaaaay better. From the Honey butter to the cuts of meat. This place is mediocre and will do if you can't find a steak from a store. It deserves two stars for portions and service. Flavor is nonexistent here give it a shot but don't say you weren't warned.

    (2)
  • Nyles W.

This place used to be great. The food is average. But the service the last few times has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. Everything from just ignoring us to bringing us someone else food, overcharging for extras, overcooking food and topping it off with giving us someone else's tab and credit card.

    (1)
  • Doug D.

Steaks thats are Ok and good service is the the recipe for this place. I like the fact that I can get fast service when busy. I will eat here on the way to movies because of that.

    (3)
  • Ryan P.

Came here with my girlfriend on a Sunday night over Olive Garden because I was told their drinks are cheap during happy hour. I understand it's Sunday night and it's busy but all the tables in the bar still had food left on them from previous customers and there was literally nowhere to sit without being in front of someone else's already eaten food. After sitting down we ordered drinks and appetizers then ordered our burgers shortly after. We ended up getting our appetizers at the same time of getting our main dishes nearly an hour after ordering. Aren't they called appetizers because you're supposed to get them before the main course? Overall the service was terrible (waiter was very strange and awkward) and the food was mediocre. Next time I want a burger I'll just head to Five Guys instead. I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

We use to enjoy this place in Federal Way Washington but they closed up. When I saw it in Springfield my wife insisted we try it - but it was disappointing. The rolls use to be worth the stop - now they are not as tasty and the server mentioned they had changed over the years - getting more bland. The garlic potatoes were good as was the broccoli. The roast was at best OK - not very flavorful. The Texas egg roll appeared to be now a Oklahoma egg roll since it was smaller (less filled) and dryer. The bathrooms needed a lot of cleaning. Even the server said that local business has declined due to the reduced quality of the food and without the travelers - they probably would not make it. There are a lot of other choices

I went here with my son when we were on a road trip, it was awful . I ordered the Jim beam marinated rib eye med rare. The salad came out with a long black hair in it, I'm blond so that was disgusting. When I got my steak it was rare with no type of marinade what so ever on it. I asked the waitress if it was cooked correctly and she got snooty and said that it was cooked how I ordered it. I asked if I could have it cooked some more and she took it and brought it back charred and over cooked. By this time I was done. The service sucked and the only good thing was the rolls and peanuts. I can see why this restaurant closed down by our house, they were truly awful.

The tomato zucchini soup I had for lunch this week was fantastic. The lunch special (soup and caesar) was priced right and I love their rolls. Slightly sweet super yummy. I had their bbq chicken and sweet potatoes before, also, and it was fantastic plus they send me $10 for my birthday which I always use. Prices are affordable and dinners are definitely shareable. I've never really had a bad experience. The only thing I didn't like this past time is I asked for chicken on my Caesar and all she could offer was a chicken breast for the same price as my entire meal. So, that wasn't cool. You guys really should offer protein on salads for an extra $2-3.

Like the place... Lemonade was very good... Steak was ok but the atmosphere of the place is good. Peanut-peanut shell style is great... The old cocacola vending machine is also interesting...

I keep trying to like this place but at best it's mediocre. I like their pomegranate vinaigrette so I keep trying the California Chicken Salad. The last time I used their Grill 2 Go for the salad and ended up waiting over an hour & a half. For salad with grilled chicken. When I got home they had given me the wrong salad so I called. What did I get for my trouble? A gift certificate to the same crappy restaurant for the exact amount I spent. Thanks for the consideration. That was a year ago and today I tried the salad again. It was worse than mediocre. A huge amount of iceberg lettuce that was so big I had to chop it myself. The salad description said it would be romaine. On top were 6 slices of cucumber, 3 slices if avocado & several mandarin oranges. The chicken was an anemic little breast that was dry as dirt. All that bounty for only $11.95. This place is pathetic. Don't go!!! Seriously don't go!!!

So we've eaten here in years past, and have had a wide variety of their food.I have recently read a lot of negative reviews and was really dragging my feet when my husband suggested going there tonight because the new restaurant in the same parking lot was full and we hate waiting. Husband got wings....he liked them.I got a side salad-it was good but not like they used to be and I imagine its a cost thing.Peanuts and rolls are really what our kids loved but it was the 32oz beers that we enjoyed. So food is fine-service was great...2 different ladies-both very good. The bathrooms are gross....I don't get that...The restaurant is very very causal and pretty dark...so depending on what you want/need there's that.So all in all...it's a solid 3...a little better than the 2 they're averaging.

Man, this place USED to be good. The hubs and I had our first date here many moons ago and subsequently would return for all of our date nights thereafter. Unfortunately, it went progressively downhill, going from meh, to mediocre to worse; until the last time we went- was the last time we'll go. I can see it being on an episode of Restaurant Impossible now. Points: -If you're known for being a steakhouse, you should hire people that know how to prepare a steak. -If you're going to charge that much for food, it should taste good and be fresh, not look and taste as though it came from a can/freezer; pastey and flavorless. -Finally, if you can't get a single person's order right at the table, you have BIG problems. I attempted to contact the restaurant to no avail. Makes sense, since the food and service are so bad, why would I have expected anything else?

Good Lord Avoid At All Costs!! That's really all you need to read. Really, just back slowly away from the sticky front doors (a good first indication of the disgustingness that lies inside). Check my profile: I give very few 1-star reviews. Less than 4%. Start your engines.... We are from out of town and yelped BBQ searching for some good eats. We came across a place with a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews and followed the directions there. Sadly, it was closed. Nearby was this steaming heap of a restaurant. You'd think a yelper would Yelp! Nope, we just went in without me looking at the ratings. After reading them, I can tell people are trying to be kind for some reason. The dreaded 3 D's describe this place: Dark, Dank & Dingy. I made the mistake of using the restroom before sitting down. Good Lord it stunk to high heaven. Like raw sewage. Absolutely horrible. No paper towels to dry my hands with and the floor was disgusting and the bathroom walls were tattoo'd with graffiti. Management must treat the help (all ladies serving) like absolute crap as this could be the only explanation for having every single one of them be so unpleasant. Either that or they're forced to eat the food and use the restrooms! If you're wanting a decent, reasonably priced steak, this is not your destination. However, there's an Applebee's right next door and I know they serve decent steaks. The BBQ here at the ORG is smothered in the sweetest BBQ Sauce I've ever had. Might as well cover your meat with Maple Syrup and ketchup. Serious. The pulled pork and tri-tip were so buried in sauce I cannot possibly even give either of them a review. I couldn't taste them. In fact, they could very well have been the exact same meat for all I know. No way to distinguish the two apart. SLOW!! And I mean, at lunch during the week adjacent to a VERY busy mall, and still nobody is here. Why didn't we run!?! Also SLOW... as in... "Where's my iced tea, my menu, some water, bread.... hello, anyone home"??? I can't even begin to imagine how disgusting the kitchen is. Quentin Tarantino would have the perfect set for his not-yet-written movie script "Sticky Shoes".

I was seated and helped right away. The waitress was very nice. I ordered the salmon, bake potato and the garlic green beans for lunch. You can have the salmon with a BBQ sauce or not. I had them put the BBQ sauce on the side so I could try it. The food came hot and tasty. The fish was a little over cooked but was still good. Adding the sauce was a big plus. The green beans were too salty for me but went well with the baked potato. Overall a good meal not great. A little pricey for a lunch but what do you expect ordering salmon. :) Oh ya, the rolls......very bad for you, but oh so good.

Still love the Texas Egg Rolls, but their pricing themselves out of business. Used to love this restaurant but my LAST visit we had 4 different servers and while our original server handed us off to go home, she continued to serve some of her other tables. Guess we didn't look like big enough tippers? Silly girl.

The only downside. Horrible country music. I was informed it's "good country music" but I think that statement is an oxymoron. The food is above average.... Wait they just played Brass In Pocket. Up one star for them!

We used to love the Roadhouse Grill. Went there all the time for those amazing Texas Egg Rolls, yeasty, fluffy bread rolls with honey butter, and the smooth, melty sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar. But times have changed. The Roadhouse just isn't the same anymore. It started with the egg rolls changing from a very soft cream cheese filling to a more dry cream cheese and cheddar mixture. And then sweet potatoes stopped being as good. Too dry and crumbly, perhaps baked too hastily. And then everything just started seeming kind of -blah-. Did they change owners a while back? Or did they start cheapening ingredients? I'm not sure, but all I know is: I want the old Roadhouse back! At least they still have the peanut shell covered floors (though those seem to be cleaned more often which takes away from the charm imo), and the bar tender is still the same nice guy. The cocktails are still good too, so we'll go back now and then, but we no longer have that Roadhouse-craving we used to get.

Stopped here for dinner on trip to Roseburg. Ugghhh! Our light above the table was burned out. I asked waitress to fix it and she argued that it wasn't out, just dim. No, it was out. She finally removed the bulb, but never brought a new one back. My water glass was cracked in 2 places. Rudely replaced. Restroom was horrible. Tried to bring it to hostesses attention, but she brushed right past me saying she had other business. Took 1 1/2 hrs for dinner, we could have been done is 30 easy. Minus 2 stars if possible

I had a blast here... my two sisters and I sat at the bar and had dinner and snacks... The bartender named Greg who we lovingly were told his nickname was "Stinky" made our visit here unforgettable... He was so funny and just a great server.. we had these egg roll things filled with cream cheese and jalapeño TRY THEM... And I really loved the nutter butter cream pie AMAZEBALLS... they have these little dessert cups for $ 1.50 each do yourself a favor and try them all!!!

If only I could give zero stars. Looking for a nice sit down lunch after some killer shopping at Cabella's, we ran across Original Roadhouse Grill. I'm from Salem, where we have two, and one (the one downtown) is actually quite good. (The one on Lancaster is hit and miss; or was when I stopped going at least three years ago.) This one... not so much. Maybe the one in downtown Salem is the exception, and they all suck. Dunno. The staff seemed, at best, distracted. While it was not busy, our service was slow and disorganized. Requests were forgotten. Things came out of order. We had half an order of Texas Egg Rolls and they were horrible. The mixture inside was... icky. And if you've had these done right, you know how GREAT they are. The cheese was grainy, and it was pretty flavorless. I'm not sure what went wrong here. The rolls, which came after the appetizer, were downright bad. They were flat, tough, and tasted off, as if the yeast or other item used to make them had spoiled. So disappointed. Our bugers came, and they were iffy. Fries were soggy. My bacon cheeseburger was pretty tasteless, somehow -- the beef was mealy as if over ground and overmixed. The sandwich was pretty dry, and was supposed to have a sauce on it. Add to this that half the time we were there, bad music blared from the sound system in the dining room, and was equally challenged by another stream of bad music from the bar area. It was a cacophony of annoyance. Yes, there were all you could eat cheap peanuts to throw on the floor. Big whoop. Their peanuts are the cheapest pieces of crap (seriously, buy good peanuts, they aren't that expensive). It's been a long time since I've been somewhere that got it ALL wrong. At least you could say they were consistently, although it's consistently BAD.

Yikes what a disaster the food just seemed old and lacking anything worth noting. From the steaks and the salads ordered it was just a real sad experience and we will not be back. I hate giving negative reviews but when it's that bad it's that bad. Would not recommend this place to anyone

Used to be great. I ordered a harvester salad with salmon tossed, what a joke. Piece of salmon was not even half what they used to serve ( if I would have know I would have never ordered) and since no longer on the menu cost over 16.00 for a tiny piece of fish and a salad that looked like a angry raccoon put it together. The waitress even mentioned that the piece of fish was very small, something you should mention before it arrives at a table and standards, standards, standards !!! Every item I order more than once comes out different as in ingredient different. They need to get back on track I will no longer eat here to inconsistent.

When I was visiting Eugene I was looking for some kind of steakhouse that's pretty affordable on a student budget.. then I yelped, I googled and finally found this place. I was a bit worried because the yelp review was not great...but I checked out the website and the food look pretty good and the ambiance reminds me of my favorite bay-area steakhouse "Texas Roadhouse".. so my bf n I gave it a try last week ^.^. I should say the price is a bit higher than "Texas Roadhouse"...and the food is "so so". I ordered the Rib Eye 12 oz - medium rare with sweet potatoes and grilled veggie. I thought the portion of the side dishes were extremely generous. the veggie skewers came with a bed of rice..(I didn't eat it because it lacked flavor). I also added the "fried lazzo" for an extra $.99. Again, the portion was huge!!! The Lazzo is basically a thinly sliced deep-fried onions served with some kind of horse radish sauce. It was a lot of food.. unfortunately ... lacked of flavor!!! My steak was basically seasoned only with black pepper and salt...I could have grilled a better steak at home. *sob!! the Lazzo was EXTREMELY SALTY!!!! Neither my bf or I liked it..we took it home and it went straight to the trash the next day because we weren't gonna eat it. My bf had the 10 oz bourbon tri-tip. It was pretty good..but not great...but I actually think I enjoyed the flavor more than my steak..lol. This place definitely has the same ambiance as Texas roadhouse.. free peanuts and peanut shells all over the floor, and the yummy sweet and fluffy warm bread was served as appetizer for free..the sweet butter makes it even tastier. So in conclussion... you should give it a try to experience the interesting "ambiance"...and the free panuts and sweet bread..lol. Our tab was about $45 for the night not including tip.

I am very disappointed to have to say this. The Original Roadhouse Grill is NOT what it used to be. For years this was my favorite restaurant. We used to go once a month or better. If Yelp had existed then I would have given them 5 stars for sure. The quality of the food has now dropped to levels of which make me wonder how they can still open their doors. This wasn't a one time thing either, as I gave them no fewer than 4 "one last try"s over the last couple of years. Based on the years of great food in the past, I just couldn't give up. I'm finally over it. Free peanuts and what used to be awesome bread EVERY time do not make up for the poor quality food that they somehow find the courage to serve these days. Especially at $50 for two people (without mixed drinks or tip). I'll spare you the boring details of our lackluster meal.

I have not been here in a long time and I'm still a fan of the peanuts at the table, the yummy bread with honey butter, and the rib eye steak. It's not a 5 star place but to me it's still good. I had really good service. I felt like I needed to write this review because of the bad reviews I just got done reading about this place. It may not be what it was but it is still good. I'm really picky about steak! And good god do not go next door to Applebee's for steak. Yuck! I have no clue what the other yelpers on here are talking about.

Go to the original roadhouse grill, if you like good bread and butter, that is about where it ends. When my family had entered, we were greeted at the door and had a short wait. When the hostess sat us at our table, I had requested we got a booth right next to our table. He replied that he could not sit us there, but would go check for us. He somehow dissapeared into the abyss with no response. After getting no response, He re appeared with a family, only to bring them to the booth that I had requested literally 2 minutes before. literally 1 minute later, another family at the other booth. Is this guy just trying to be a jerk as I make eye contact with him personally while he sits them. After being irked the wrong way, I just forgot about it, the waiter was good at the least she was a sweetheart, she brought peanuts and rolls, that's about as good as the dinner got. My baby back ribs were garbage. I could get better quality at winco. Smallest things I have ever seen, with literally no meat on them. My wife asked for medium well with her burger she told the waiter 'I like a little pink'. Burger came out, like a hockey puck. Even then she complained that it was bland with no seasoning. I left very unsatisfied, I will not being going back. I used to come here all the time when it opened, but the service has fallen off with poor food. I would love to see that hostess again and ask him about our booth. He clearly should be working in the back of mcdonalds. Where he can no longer interact with the customer.

I've been gone for four years, and.a lot has changed in Eugene Oregon, but especially at the road house. During my college days we would head down to the roadhouse to enjoy a beer and steak. However, such is not the case anymore. Our waitress was a total sweetheart who was clearly having an overall tough night at work. We overtipped to make up for the other d bags. Appetizer: Texas egg rolls. Delicious and tasty. Meal: bacon cheese burger The burger was under Cooked and and tiny. It was overall quiet unimpressive and disappointing.

You know....I really do love Roadhouse. I REALLY DO. Come on, you all know those Rolls were damn good! Especially with that butter that comes with it...DANK!! The ribs taste good, but as I seen in a previous review, they do lack on the meat. I do recall thinking that. The garlic mashers are ok and the salads are good. But I think the last time we went there we all got charged additional for the salads. I remember a few years back it used to come with the meal....come on tightwads....give the salad back. The peanuts on the floor gimmick. I love it. So does my 8 year old boy. It's fun to munch on the peanuts and get a nice HUGE stack of shells built up on the edge of the table, just to whipe it all off on the floor. Come on, that can make anyone feel good. Drinks are good, but spendy....nuff said there...they do have outdoor seating though....of course is awesome in Eugene during the Summer. And for some damn reason, it's expensive for food, drinks, pretty much all around. For that reason i haven't been back for a while. Staff is friendly, but not too bright? My family and I went in for lunch one afternoon and were greeted at the door. When asking how many in the party we replied 5 1/2. She said, "ok!" Do you need a high chair for that? HUH? Excuse me? Did you just call our beautiful baby daughter.....THAT?? None the less....we said, "Yes" and left it alone. Would have gave this place 5 stars 6 years ago. Not these days!!

While on a trip, we stayed at a motel near here and decided to try this place for dinner. Wow! Everything - all the way from the service to the fantastic food - was Excellent! Freshly roasted, warm peanuts in the shell while we waited for our food. I'm not really in to the country vibe and shells on the floor thing, but these peanuts were delicious. Hot, fresh, rolls (honey butter). Tri-Tip that they deserve to brag about. Some of the best I've ever had. Excellent garlic mashed potatoes. Service was good, prompt. Prices that would be fair for ordinary food but were really good for the quality of this meal. If we lived here, we'd be eating here often. Note: This is obviously a place that specializes in beef. As a rule of thumb, always go with a restaurant's specialty because that's almost always what they do best. Summary: Excellent food, good service, Very good value.

Like Claire has said, I don't understand why ORG has such bad reviews either. Gotta at least appreciate the messy PEANUTS and sweet DINNER ROLLS! My brother is crazy about this place (yes a meat-lover). He brings the family here every time we visit him, and he makes sure to get a reservation or rush here before the dinner crowd swamps in. Apparently ORG is popularly packed on most days. Remarks of my experience: - Unlimited roasted peanuts brought to you in bucketfuls. Chuck some with your beer trash their remains everywhere stuff 'em in your shoes take 'em home. What fun! - Freshly baked dinner rolls best enjoyed with whipped sweet butter. Nom nom I crave them for days and days after. Ask for more till the tummy satisfies! - Meat meat and more meat. I can't remember how they taste like anymore. I'm not super carnivorous, but the bro is and he consumes them with much appreciation devoted to his tri-tip, roasted baby chicken, and barbecue riblettes. Gussin' they're ok? Kind of pricey (hey it's a grill restaurant after all); over all not quite to my taste. BUT ORG is worth a try--quite a character it's got there!

i almost gave this place one star, but i like the nuts and the rolls. problem is, those are free. the steak - supposedly a signature dish - however was not so good. i ordered a medium ribeye and it was meh. maybe a little undercooked, and the flavor wasn't too bright. the salad was fine...but it was just a caesar salad. macaroni was just okay. next time i go - if i go back - i'll prolly get the chicken. who can mess up chicken???...

I am passing on a review from my mom and dad (in-laws), since they don't yet yelp.....I am trying to convert them to yelp-ism. They are resisting *sigh*....so they said they wanted somewhere in the Gateway area to eat a late lunch. They walked into The Roadhouse Grill, no one helped them for quite some time. They said they noticed the food was primarily under the heat-lamp, while many sat waiting for their food. After waiting for someone to tend to their needs, they happily moved on to another restaurant that was busy but more organized. Good call!

Ate here over the weekend after a trip to Cabela's and I had the BLT with fries and an order of Texas Egg Rolls since it was happy hour. The egg rolls were, as usual, awesome and my BLT was really good too. Fries were so-so and I didn't eat most of them. Hubby had the cajun chicken burger and fries and enjoyed it. Service was decent too.

The food was disappointing in quality. The service was worse-the waitress tried to serve me just a cup of chili and was unaware of what a "bowl" looked like. The food was much worse than it had been at last visit and the prices too high.

  • Crystal P.

The food was disappointing in quality. The service was worse-the waitress tried to serve me just a cup of chili and was unaware of what a "bowl" looked like. The food was much worse than it had been at last visit and the prices too high.

Good call!

This place used to be great. The food is average. But the service the last few times has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. Everything from just ignoring us to bringing us someone else food, overcharging for extras, overcooking food and topping it off with giving us someone else's tab and credit card.

Steaks thats are Ok and good service is the the recipe for this place. I like the fact that I can get fast service when busy. I will eat here on the way to movies because of that.

Thanks ORH!

The food was great as usual, the server was great. I was put off by the manager TJ and his excessive flirting with the female wait staff. I didn't see him doing any work and when the females walked by he stared at their backsides. GROSS!

Still love the Texas Egg Rolls, but their pricing themselves out of business. Used to love this restaurant but my LAST visit we had 4 different servers and while our original server handed us off to go home, she continued to serve some of her other tables. Guess we didn't look like big enough tippers? Silly girl.

The food was disappointing in quality. The service was worse-the waitress tried to serve me just a cup of chili and was unaware of what a "bowl" looked like. The food was much worse than it had been at last visit and the prices too high.

Yikes what a disaster the food just seemed old and lacking anything worth noting. From the steaks and the salads ordered it was just a real sad experience and we will not be back. I hate giving negative reviews but when it's that bad it's that bad. Would not recommend this place to anyone

My first time at the road house, I chose this place after reviewing yelp, although it had quite a few bad reviews I decided to take a work group of 8 here. Every body loved the food , definitely some of the better ribs I have had. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Despise all of the bad reviews I give the original road house five out of five, friendly , fast, tasty, and the rustic uniqueness of the building is great. Definitely returning to this restaurant soon.

Tasty!!

Service was so so. It is usually very good our server just seemed as if we were an inconvenience. They food was good.

Greeted us with a smile! Took care our specialty request with a smile. Food looked & smell great! Like other yelpers mentioned, love the peanuts! Also the sweet roles too! Tis has been my fifth time here and always enjoyed our meal and service. Thanks ORH!

Their ribs melt off the bone, they're that good. Great service and lovely atmosphere, though the peanut shells on the floor take a bit of getting used to.

The food was great as usual, the server was great. I was put off by the manager TJ and his excessive flirting with the female wait staff. I didn't see him doing any work and when the females walked by he stared at their backsides. GROSS!

Fantastic service and great burgers. Sometimes there is a wait because their food is fantastic as is their service. I love this place!

Is the NW so bad off for good steakhouses this place gets a rating above a two? Ok whatever or whoever was first all I can say is Texas Roadhouse does it waaaaaay better. From the Honey butter to the cuts of meat. This place is mediocre and will do if you can't find a steak from a store. It deserves two stars for portions and service. Flavor is nonexistent here give it a shot but don't say you weren't warned.

This place used to be great. The food is average. But the service the last few times has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. Everything from just ignoring us to bringing us someone else food, overcharging for extras, overcooking food and topping it off with giving us someone else's tab and credit card.

The only downside. Horrible country music. I was informed it's "good country music" but I think that statement is an oxymoron. The food is above average.... Wait they just played Brass In Pocket. Up one star for them!
