So, this is really another Los Dos Amigos location. Same menu, prices and food. The food is good, but not necessarily special. I will say that I did not care for the seafood burrito, but it's more about personal preference than it was about the quality of the food. I was looking for something unusual, and I got it. I probably won't have it again as the texture was kind of mushy and the flavors were all really sweet... yes, sweet. No spice here at all. Had to add salsa to make it palatable to me. Service was good. The waiter was quite friendly and made several contacts with us throughout the meal to see that we had everything we needed. Everything else we ordered was good. Not excellent, but good. With all the choices in the area, it is not likely that I will stop here again, at least not until I've exhausted other options. If you want ok mexican food, this place is not likely to disappoint.

We stopped in for lunch because we were more in the mood for mexican than burgers or whatever. I like the big booths and high ceilings, plus never before have I seen a black urinal. The enchiladas nortenas have a magnificent sour cream sauce - I wish i'd gotten a few side orders of it to take home! But the chips seemed store bought, the salsa was spicy but bland & watery, and the beans & rice were merely adequate. My girlfriend's parmesean-sauce-chicken-whatever was also really dull, strangely tasting like instant mashed potatoes. I would maybe give the place one more shot if there weren't dozens of nearly identical tex-mex joints around, and anyway I'm almost never on that side of town.

This place is well...bad tasting Mexican - I mean American - food. The location is good and the atmosphere is a lot better then some Mexican food places which try to recreate an 1800s Mexico feel, complete with fake parrots. This place tries for a more modern atmosphere, so no fake parrots. Now for the most important part, the food. Sadly the food is NOT up to par with good Mexican food. I related the meal I ate on two separate occasions to nothing more then Taco Bell with out the colorful wrappers and neon signs -They actually do have neon signs. I really can't and shouldn't recommend this place until they add a thing or two to their food. FLAVOR would be a good start.

Very good with good size portions, warm chips and hot salsa.

Great food, friendly staff and a terrific value. Our family's favorite place for Mexican food in Eugene-Springfield.

great local mexican restaurant. great service, big portions, tasty stuff. I wish they made their own tortillas, though

I'm working in Springfield, OR from out of town. Ordered the Chicken Mole dish to go. This is one of my favorites. Chicken cooked in a sweet chili dark sauce. It was good, but the portions for the cost was not worth it. It was served with a small portion of cabbage, rice, and beans. The servers we're very nice and I was offered something to drink twice while I waited for my order. My order cost $14. It was not worth the cost and I will not return because of the excessive cost. The food overall was good. They just need to come down on the price or serve a greater portion.

We've eaten here three or four times. All previous visits were fine (3 stars). It has the same menu as Los Dos Amigos, where we've been eating pretty much since it opened. Here are my beefs after our last visit. 1) Some of the food was kinda gross. Same things we always order, but the preparation was sloppy and just not good. My camarones a la crema was pretty much gelatinous. The crema sauce was so thick and gloppy, I coudn't even identify the shrimp in it. I had to scrape the goo off the shrimps to make them edible. My two sons ordered combo plates, and those came out looking like the food had been squirted onto the plates, assembly-line style. Puddles of beans and whatever, all tones of brown and orange, not even a parsley speck to appeal to the eye. Ick, ick, and ick. Two others ordered what I think is the fiesta platter and those were fine. 2) But what really pissed me off was that we had a coupon this time for "buy one dinner, get one free." So we ordered three higher-priced meals ($14-$15) and two cheaper ones ($7-$8). The waiter applied the coupon to the $8 meal! When I questioned it, he told me "We usually just grab one from the bottom or the middle" (referring to the price). To me, that's just a rip-off. Deceptive. Random. Tacky. Stingy -- especially on a tab that totaled close to $100 with drinks etc. I would give these guys a second chance on the food but the coupon policy is a deal breaker. So, Amigo Mio -- you got the six bucks in your pocket but you lost five return customers. : (

i write this with bias - as i'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food, so i have no real scale to say if it were good or not. I came here because majority rules. so in all fairness - the experience and the food is okay at best... however i did order the spicy shrimp and it wasn't very spicy at all. i've had it at other mexican spots and it tasted way better. however the servers were nice and let me speak the very little spanish i know! :)

Good mexican food. I like their salsa. Its a nice current feel to it. Staff are nice and friendly. Service is quick. This is our frequent "go to" place for mexican food. They know us when we come in and remember what we like to order.

I just ordered dinner for my roommate and I to go. The wait for our meal was nearly an hour. It took us about 20 minutes to get home and start eating when we discovered they didn't give us our entire order. The food we did get was dry and tasteless. The chicken enchiladas were just soggy corn tortillas with shredded chicken drowned in sauce. The tamale was hard and bland. We won't be eating here again.

I lived in the California Valley my whole life. I moved to eugene just recently and really wanted to find a good burrito. This place is NOT that. I ordered two burritos and two orchata drinks. I paid 29$ for just that. Way way way over priced. Then i specifically asked for no lettuce and no beans in one of the burritos. They failed to follow instructions. Wont be going back.

We loved this place! The host wanted to seat us at a half booth type table, which my husband hates, so we asked to be seated in a regular booth. No problem! He simply took us to a booth we liked. My husband ordered the Macho Burrito and loved every bite. My chicken Enchiladas la Crema didn't disappoint! Their portions are huge, but that's no surprise. It seems like every Mexican restaurant has large portions. The hubs had his go to Mexican restaurant drink, the margarita. It was very good and made with quality tequila. Our waitress recommended their Hacienda Rita for me. What a tasty drink! The drinks is fruity, but not too sweet, and the glass is rimmed with a Cajun spice mixture that's not too spicy, but gives the drink a special umph. We look forward to our next visit.

Great food and the staff are attentive/friendly. I recommend their tacos. Also, the chips and salsa are divine if you like spicy food! Can't wait for our next trip to Eugene!

Meh... Food was just ok. Not a lot of flavor. Service left something to be desired. It may have only been me eating alone but I am a big tipper if I feel the service was good. Not a big tip tonight.

In the world of Mexican food, this is generic Mexican food in Eugene/Springfield Oregon. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's nothing mind blowing either. I prefer my Mexican food from sketchy hole-in-the-wall "restaurants" next to 7/11 in Southern California where the chicarrones still have hair on them. BUT, if you're going to go for a mole and you're debating between here and Chapala (Oakway Center), go here for the mole. This mole was decent!

  • Ryan S.

I've been here numerous times and each time is alright. Portions are decent size but food lacks effort. This last time was THE last time. We sat down and after 10 minutes was not greeted or even offered water. The waitress helped a table that sat down 5 mins after we did and proceeded to empty trash cans and kill time as it was completely empty with no patrons. After making eye contact as she passed by and continuing to waste time not even acknowledging us, we got up and left. I vow never to step foot in this establishment. Good luck with your experience if you go.

I was thrilled to know that this place that is associated with Los Dos Amigos was so near my work. Every time I have an opportunity to come here I always get the pollo ala crema. Every time I get this dish and each time it hasn't disappointed. The lunch prices are great and reasonable for the amount of food you get. The interior is nice and not over done with murals or mexican trinkets. The service is also great. Never had to ask for a refill on my soda nor salsa. They just bring it. I don't think you will be disappointed with this place.

Well I did my best to keep an open mind re: food and menu. Considering I spent a few decades living in southern cal. with that all said, when I see that the menu says: Parmesan Cheese listed on many item descriptions,.. well I am sooo out of here ......... As an example see below: I am not going to say another word. Macho Burrito A super burrito, flour tortilla filled with rice, beans and your choice of meat filling, covered with burrito sauce, melted cheese, garnished with fresh lettuce, tomato, sour cream and parmesan cheese. 153. Expreso Burrito $10.75 Flour tortilla filled with rice and beans and your choice of meat filling, covered with enchilada sauce, guacamole and parmesan cheese. 154. Burrito Asado $12.25 Flour tortilla stuffed with rice and beans, chopped skirt steak, cooked over charcoal, covered with burrito sauce, melted cheese and garnished with fresh lettuce, tomatos, onions, guacamole and parmesan cheese. 155. Burrito Fajita $13.95

I've eaten here a few times and I feel like everything is very bland. I wanted nachos with carnitas or Carne asada and no such luck...chicken or ground beef. I felt like there was no heart, no sauce, no depth to the flavors.

Came on a Sunday afternoon at 2:50 pm and the place was not busy at all. Almost empty. The waitress came after a while and when we ordered the food she said the lunch special was over at 3:00. The food was good but very slow service. If in a hurry, go somewhere else. After ordering the food it did not come out for 45 min.

We were surprised they were rated so low. We give them 4 stars. It is clean, the wait help very pleasant and helpful, and the food taste good. This is close to freeway so it is easy on and off.

My daughter and I ordered from this restaurant from ddish, The food was really good and very filling. I had the enchiladas crema and my daughter had the vegetarian fajitas. She has diet restrictions and these guys got it right! The food was seasoned perfectly and not buried in sauces or cheese. You could actually identify the vegetables in my daughters dish! As a recent relocator from Cali, I have eaten a LOT of Mexican food and this rates pretty high on my acceptance meter. I look forward to actually eating at this establishment.............just as soon as I'm finished with my remodel!

I first went here two years ago! The only reason I went again was because I forgot the reason why I was never gonna go here again. Service has been terrible! Both times we sat for 10 mins before being asked for drinks, the host are great, was really annoying when a host noticed we were looking around without drinks and came to get a drink order then the waitress comes and interrupts her to have her bus tables then re asks us our drink orders, we saw her 2 other times and was super rude both times, food was decent a lot of meat in my burrito but the chicken was a little dry for my taste we got drinks also which our server made, and we're by far the worst margaritas I've ever had Thanks for the negative impression

  • Joey H.

Prices are much to high, I left with a bitter feeling. The food is about average, but nothing special. The food took about 45 minutes to come to our table of 5, that was just too long, we didn't even order appetizers. Seeing them walk threw the dining room with a huge garbage can full of tortilla chips to dump at the front was a little off putting even know I am sure it was sanitary (I hope.) All in All there are better places in town for Mexican at a cheaper price!

My husband and I, along with our friends that come with..have always loved this place! The food is so delicious and the service and servers are always so nice! They always remember us which is very sweet! My fav dish is Arroz con Pollo and its always delicious! We all have a Fav dish. :) We have never eaten food here that we did not like. I also like that you can actually ask for mild salsa if you want, both are yummy. It's the only Mexican restaurant in Springfield that we will go to. * Our Date night with friends Go-to place!

Typical Mexican food place...a little something something along with rice and beans. NIce décor, decent service, nothing too fancy. If you are in the need for Mexican this is an acceptable place to dine, but nothing too memorable.

I had a very disappointing lunch here that left me feeling deceived, overcharged, and unsatisfied. The two criticisms I have are related to a business decision that was disappointing and a miscommunication that I could have avoided if I hadn't made an assumption, so take that under consideration if you feel confident you can avoid these scenarios better than I. The food was fine (even if the shredded beef was dry), but I was charged $9.25 for lunch after pointing to. $6.25 lunch item and requesting a different sauce. The waitress directed me to the higher cost item on the menu but the price shown was lower than what they charged because thu highlighted the one enchilada price. Chapalas is where I up lunch and they will substitute a sauce for a lunch enchilada without extra charge. The restaurant will get every penny from you at a premium, so beware. Second, when the enchilada choices listed were cheese, chicken, beef, and picadillo, I assumed beef was shredded and picadillo was ground because the picadillo ie had was closer to a hash. My error was in assuming I knew that beef defaults to shredded and the one I chose (picadillo) meant ground. My advice is to check assumptions to avoid getting the wrong meat. The unexpectedly expensive and dry meal was an eye opener and I will return my future business to Chapalas.

My husband and I are from Phoenix, AZ. We KNOW what Mexican Food should taste like. Our primary complaint moving to Eugene has been; there is NO REAL Mexican Food here. Period. Until now. We went here last week, on a Friday night. We were seated right away - even though the place was busy. We both had chicken breast meals (I suck - I didn't write down the name and can't find any menu info) broiled and seasoned to a lovely red. They were layered with cheesy, spicy goodness. Mine came with a chile relleno as well - first time I've had one since moving here that was worth a damn. More than worth a damn. VERY good actually. Neither one of us can have corn or beans - so we substituted "salad" which was the lettuce shreds they use with some light fixins on top. Just fine by me, since I mush-mix it all together with all the cheese awesomeness. Our server was very sweet and attentive, and we can be high maintenance! Food came out quickly, was served beautifully (I wish I had gotten a picture - I assumed there would be more on here already. Next time.). Big cool plates, so nothing falls off because it's all jammed on there. Place was clean, and I LOVED the high ceilings and decor. I felt like I was in a real restaurant, not some strip mall excuse... if that makes any sense. We both had a really good experience here. We will be back.

I came here after reading some reviews on this place. If this is the best the Eugene/Springfield area has to offer, then that's more than a little disappointing. I ordered the chili relleno/chimichanga combo. The chili relleno tasted fair, but was more like a green chile omelet. The chimichanga was not deep fried. It was basically a little burrito with guacamole and sour cream. The food tastes OK, but was not prepared very well. I live in Reno and there are a lot of really good Mexican food joints that are way better. Oh well...

  • Peggy Sue K.

Check the menu price before you place your next order; it may have gone up $1, $2 or even $3 at once. The new prices have been accompanied by recent staff changes, some consistency issues, and if I am not mistaken slightly smaller servings of sides and condiments. I like eating here, but it's a family-style mexican place in a strip mall and I just can't see paying $16-17 for an entree, plus $3 for a fountain drink.

  • Brynn M.

I've definitely had worst, but you can get better in the area. I had high expectations for this place when I saw my favorite mexican place from Salem listed on the cover. Didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. The service was okay. Had to wait awhile for our order to be taken, but once it was our food and drink came relatively quickly. The margarita I ordered was very good. Fruity and just enough tequila. For dinner I had the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. They were okay, but drowning in the sauce and (in case you didn't get enough) came with a huge, unnecessary blob of sour cream on top. The chicken was a little oily, but the sauce tasted good and the tortillas were tasty. Husband ordered the arozz con pollo, which was nothing like we expected. Not bad, just not what you expect. I would go back, but only if I didn't have easy access to some of my other favorites.

Good food, friendly and great service, all at a great price. Came in close to closing time and they were still very good to us. Good/hot salsa! Would eat there again next time I'm in town.

Hacienda Amigo Mio and its sister restaurant, Los Dos Amigos, in Eugene are amazing. I've been going to these restaurants for years. I love the flautas, the enchiladas and the pollo ala creme. Everyone is friendly there. Many of the staff know me by name and make me feel welcome. My wife loves the margaritas as well.

    (5)
  • Joshua M.

Ya know we really weren't expecting much when we stopped by the Hacienda on a trip south. I mean Mexican food in Oregon, plus a restaurant in a strip mall. You pretty much are rolling the D20 here dungeon master. Luckily we came out ahead. We both ordered fajitas, I had the chicken & steak combo, and the wife had shrimp. Both were tasty. The chips and salsa were plentiful, as were the large cokes. Downsides? Jalapeños in the pico de gallo. Unnecessary. Also despite it being a lunch portion, the shrimp fajitas had a lot less meat than the chicken & steak combo. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but the fajitas are a safe bet.

Excellent food. I eat at the Gateway location in Springfield at least twice a month, for lunch. I usually park right in front and get there a few minutes early. The head waiter and the owner recognize my car and always let me in early. The portions are bountiful, served hot, very appetizingly arrayed on the plate, and not overpriced. Staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend the combination plates, and a large mug of Widmer's Hefeweizen beer, served with a lemon. The entire building, including (and especially) the restrooms are immaculate. I almost feel that I could eat off the floor in the bathroom. I never hesitate to recommend this place.

That's one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in.the food is great especially the cancun plate. The service is excellent. This is my favorite place to go eat, I've tried many restaurants around Springfield and this is my top favorite. Great place to go with friends and family.

I have wanted to try this place for quite a while. I finally decided last night to just do it. I was meeting a friend, so I waited at the "bar" (I use the term loosely since it is just four stools pushed up to a counter). The bartender was very friendly, but the margarita was very watery and not a bit good. Very disappointing. My friend arrived and we were seated at a table that vibrates continually. I couldn't handle it so we asked to be moved. They said they would bring all of our things to the new table for us, but they left our napkins, so we were there with our drinks and our chips and salsa with no napkins. Then I asked for some guacamole to go with the chips that came from a bag. The guacamole was from a mix. How disappointing. I mean, three of the main staples of any mexican restaurant are margaritas, chips, and guacamole. If they can't get those right, then there really isn't any hope for the rest of the meal. My recommendation...don't waste your time with this place.

Ordered a combination plate with a beef taco and chile relleno, nothing special. Service was fine. Nothing too memorable about this place. Probably wouldn't go back again.

Nice place, nice people, good food! This place is new and clean. Both chicken and beef were prepared and seasoned perfectly. There is a small bar in the front and alot of seating in the main area. The prices are very reasonable and the service was perfect. The homemade salsa is really good. Everytime I'm in town I will hit this place!!

My boyfriend and I ate here after checking yelp reviews and seeing that they had happy hour after 2pm. So let me start by saying I am a huge Los Dos Amigos fan and have been going for years, so knowing this place was associated was a big plus for me. We walked in at an awkward time, about 3pm, so there was only us and another table. Our server right off the bat was great, so friendly and outgoing. This place has an actual drink menu with a lot of different kind of "hip" cocktails that use tequila. We got hacienda margaritas because they came with Milagro and that's our favorite. And let me tell you....they were delicious! My boyfriend ordered a combination plate and I got chicken taquitos. Both were good! But I think we were definitely more excited about the drinks. This place is a newer and better version of Los Dos and I think it'll be our new regular spot. Especially because their happy hour is a good deal and it's hard to turn away a good happy hour!! Menu might be the same but if you're looking for a different atmosphere than Los Dos is giving you, I would pick this place!

Outstanding in every way - fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, reasonably priced, outstanding customer service. Hacienda Amigo Mio went out of their way to provide a customized dish just to my taste tonight. Even the little things, like freshly made chips that are still warm when brought to the table, make a difference to a customer. Everything tasted like it was freshly prepared - as it should be.

Wow..Ay Dios Mio!!! Why? Why have I not found solid Mexican food here! AGAIN! I really wanted to like this place! Full bar, good looking restaurant. The food was not even mediocre. I took my girls for dinner at around 5pm. Service was friendly at first. Later not so much. Like he did not want to be there. The girl serving water and chips was awesome though! We ordered what we consider typical Mexican dishes. Carne Asada taco plate, Al Pastor taco plate and Chile Verde plate. First, the chips were nice and warm. Not home made but warm. The salsa was okay. Not enough kick and kinda watery. But had some chile flavor. Carne Asada tacos....they looked like they diced up yesterdays burnt ends into tiny pieces that barely resembled some sort of meat product. It was horrid. Worst we have had! Ever! And we eat a LOT of Mexican food. They were tasteless and dry. The Al Pastor tacos....tasted like coconut. I was thinking, why would they use coconut? Typically made with marinaded pork and cooked on a rotating spit with pineapple or just marinaded pork cooked with pineapple....then it hit me! They must have used Pina Colada mix! WTH??? Could not finish them! They were the worst we have EVER had! Yes....another worst! The Chile Verde...this was not bad. Not great, but very edible. The only thing it did not have that tangy chile or tomatillio flavor that it should. It had more of a black pepper flavor. Like the sauce was lacking flavor and they tried to mask it with pepper. But the pork had a good consistency. It broke apart like if should. The beans....were beans. Nothing special. The rice....was dryer than Styrofoam. Mexican rice is super simple people. Chicken stock, rice, garlic, onion and tomato sauce. That's it! How they manage to screw that up is beyond me. It should be moist without being wet. Should taste like the ingredients listed. All in all...very depressing. Incredibly sad. Mexican food, for the most part, is not difficult. There are some things like Mole that are more intense and take more time. But overall if you keep it simple and cook it right, comes out great! Places that we prefer so far that are good...not necessarily great but solid are Naya's in Springfield and Plaza Latina Supermarket on 7th. Both have damn good food. No ambiance but good food. Also Taqueria Mi Tierra is not bad on Blair. But so far...cannot find a decent full srvice Mexican Restaurant.

Huge menu, extensive bar menu. Kids menu was decent, don't know if they have entertainment (I.e. crayons). Hubby had pollo chipotle which was delich. I had tacos al carbon and it was just okay. Clean restaurant with clean bathrooms. Quick friendly service. Close to hwy 5 for a quick meal and back on the road.

Food here is very good. It's also very consistent every time I've been there. The servers are very attentive and take great care of us every time we come in for lunch. The only downfall is that I can't move when I get back to work and want to take a nap. :-)

I have to write a review for my favorite Mexican place in town. It's close to my work, and the lunch specials are the best! I always get the shredded beef enchiladas with extra sauce, and it always tastes delicious. Salsa is spicy which I love, and my waiters are always very friendly. It's usually the same people working, and they always remember my order. I've ordered to go a few times, and its always good (except the cheese sticks to the foil!). I will continue to eat here as long as they still have the awesome lunch specials!
