What a wonderful experience!!! Not only is the food excellent, but the service is fantastic. The fried rice is perhaps some of the best I've ever had. The Sweet and Sour Pork is not overcooked like at many places. The Egg Foo Young and Hot and Sour Soup are also phenominal. This is now our favorite Chinese restaurant by far.

I don't know what everyone's deal is on here, I went in to the restaurant today and it was very clean. Sure it's not fine dining but it's very mom & pop, which in my opinion, are the best sort of places. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and it was ready as soon as I got there. They were VERY friendly. The older woman who was the cashier greeted me with a smile when I walked in and when I left. Even the cook through the small window smiled and thanked me for coming in. So over all, excellent customer service, the food was delicious, prepared quickly and still piping hot by the time I got home.

First off, I'm half Chinese so I'm writing this from my White half's perspective. In the grand scheme of American Chinese restaurants, it's pretty decent. The flavors are good and the portions are huge. We ordered sesame chicken, beef and broccoli and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was fine, the beef was tender, the broccoli wasn't overcooked (score) and the lo mein was flavorful. If I'm looking for American Chinese food in Springfield Oregon, this place is solid. I'd come back. If I'm looking for awesome real Chinese food, I probably have to leave the Eugene/Springfield area.

As far as cheap chinese takeout goes, this one is pretty good. They'll make your food the way you want it and it's consistent. The staff is nice and whenever we go in just to get some takeout they don't seem harried or anything like that. The downside of this place is it's location. The food is good, and the staff is nice, but it's not really a take the family to eat place. The atmosphere is what you'd expect at a takeout joint, kind of cheap feeling. So we don't ever actually eat there. We always get our dumplings steamed, and I think they're probably the best you can get in this area, although I haven't tried all the places. Definitely the place to go if you want some good takeout. Worth the money and exceeds expectations with the quality of food.

The good things about this place: The food is always prepared in a timely manner. The vegetables are fresh, cut on site (you can tell both visually as well as by taste), and in my experience, there is no weird/greasy issues with any of the items ordered. It's also relatively cheap, so one can afford to try a larger variety of dishes. The not-so-good things: I didn't rate it down for this, as it's more than likely due to personal taste, but the overall flavors didn't really *pop* for me. I like spicy things and there is nothing I've ordered that is even remotely spicy. It's all good enough, but really nothing to get super excited about. The ambience is meh. Old dinette style tables, faded kitschy Chinese New Years posters and plastic dragons seem to be the prevailing motif. Bottom line: it's decent, you won't get food poisoning, but you might want to bring some Sriracha.

We came for lunch. Was a bit disappointed. I ordered pork chow mien. Food was served quickly and hot, but chow mien was bland. It was mostly sprouts and celery. My husband ordered the appetizers sampler. Pork, egg roll, and shrimp were good but chicken was tough and chewy. Sadly we won't be back.

Food was mediocre. Lo Mein was good but the Almond Chicken was very bland. Is convenient for Thurston area but will probably drive the extra miles to get my next Chinese meal.

For dinner we had General Tsaos Chicken and BBQ pork with snow peas. The Chicken was fair, little to much sauce. The BBQ pork was taste less and the snow peas were tough. We ordered fried rice and steamed rice, which was served in the same bowl, made keeping it separated difficult.

Chu's is a great restaurant. Something that I always appreciate about a restaurant is flexibility, and Chu's has that. I've made special requests before when going there with friends, and they gladly accommodate them. I tend to like things spicy, and they'll make my food spicy for me alright. Also, some of the best chicken curry you can find in this town.

I enjoy eating at Chu's. It's a small family business and we've always been treated very well when eating here. Downside? Well, it's in a mini mall. It actually used to be a radio shack when I was a kid. The egg-flower soup is tasty with the right blend of spices and thickness. I haven't found anything that wasn't delicious.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
