Been looking for your all american hole in the wall burger since coming to OR from TX. Finally found it. This is how burgers should be. Excellent service too. Can't wait to come back and try the shakes!

Something has gone wrong here. It took one hour from start to finish to get out order at snowcap. Checked in on Yelp when we got in line, we are the first group right outside the door to go in a place our order, five tickets up on the carousel, takes exactly one half hour from where we get in line to place our order until we receive our food. When we are handed our food we ask for fry sauce And are told there's some in the bag, get to the car, no fry sauce. No way am I going back in. Normally after only one bad service experience I wouldn't change my review. But this past experience comes off the two visits previously where we were helped by the most unhelpful and unfriendly person on staff. This is the third visit where I haven't seen the owner. New owner? New management? Bottom line is that they have a staffing issue, in my opinion. Food and Shakes continue to be really good even though the wait for the food this time was pretty darn long. They say they aren't fast food and I respect that, but to wait a half hour for food at any restaurant is a pretty darn long time. I'm not going to stop going to Sno Cap because it's your best bet when coming through town after a trip or when you're about to start a trip. But I am really bummed that the service has deteriorated so much.

This place is an institution in Sisters and we've been coming here for decades. Their licorice ice cream is beyond words. And so rare to find these days. Milkshakes are amazing too. The chocolate ice cream, however, has sadly gone down in quality and you can tell it's made with ice milk not ice cream. And the staff are high school students and EXTREMELY rude, both times we were here in a few days time span. It pains me to give this place such a low review.

Old school burgers ! This place is always busy and there is a reason, it's ding ding delicious. No thrills here , the milk shakes are the

This place gave me a little getaway from the mean drivers and the thoughts of suicide. I thank you snow cap; you saved my life. The service was amazing and the food was sensational, but the huckleberry shake took the trophy. If you have a chance GO!

We stopped in for a burger and the service was horrendous. My friends, who were in line right ahead of me were told it was going to be about 30 minutes...no big deal. I ordered right after them. Forty five minutes later, their food came out, so I expected mine soon after. My friends finished their meal, and mine still wasn't delivered. Other people were coming, eating and leaving and still nothing. I went in to inquire and was told my order was on the next go round, not even on the grill yet after an hour and fifteen minutes!!! Waited a few more minutes before asking for a refund since we had an antsy 5 year old. Might I suggest that you time stamp the tickets so they don't go around the little wheel over and over without getting made.

We love Sno Cap and stop in for lunch any time we drive thru Sisters. Very good old fashioned burgers, Fries and amazing milkshakes. Very popular spot so usually there's a line out the door but worth the wait. It's tiny and crowded but for the type of food it's five stars in my book!

Stopped in for burgers, fries, and shakes, just like the old days. Good to see places like this are still around. Service was fantastic, friendly, and fun. Food was delicious.

It's a warm day in Sisters, Oregon, with beautiful blue skies. I'm traveling and camping here. Just rode my mountain bike about 20 miles today, rough day LOL. Now I am craving some ice cream. This place makes homemade ice cream. They use a small Dairy Farmer in Redmond. A single scoop of chocolate on a waffle cone is $3.60. Very creamy, like, not to mention any names, like Salt & Straw--delicious! A scoop of chocolate really hits the spot on a hot day. Now, which way to IPA. I am feelin thirsty.

Amazing food, amazing milkshakes! Best in town. The line is long but goes fast and is worth the wait!!

Been going for almost two decades. This last time my ice cream was not good. The texture was like it was freezer burned. I took my ice cream back to the counter. The gal said, "I can't do anything about that." I said, "You can take it and throw it away and I am never coming back." The 16/17 year old then said, "that's your choice." Yup! Nice way to treat your customers. I am done! To all that decide to go remember that they really don't care. So sad. Wonder if the light bulb for the teenager will go on the day she spends her hard earned money for a product that is bad and gets customer service like that. Yeah...probably won't.

Think old fashioned ice cream and burger joint. Its small and it was crowded and we got our chocolate malt to go. They've got home made ice cream, banana splits and burgers/fries on the menu and it says all ice cream is home made. Judging by the malt I would agree - it was delish.

Absolutely TERRIBLE service. Waited in line 25minutes and the counter person took the people's order behind us. Don't know how the food is and won't ever be back.

This review is based on the food alone. If you've read a lot of these reviews, you'll know it's kind of a dump. But it's an old fashioned burger place, it has been around for decades, and the food is really good. Burgers, good. Fries, good. Shakes, gooooood. It's a popular place, so don't be surprised if you have to wait in line or can't get a table. We're locals and order our food ahead of time and just take it to go. Some of the reviews are ridiculous (complaining about traffic in Sisters? Judging the worker's appearances?)! Lower your expectations folks. This obviously isn't a Michelin rated restaurant.

We were on a mission. We were told they had the best milkshakes that brought all the tourists to the yard. They were right! Quintessential AMERIKAN drive-in, in fact big a** motor men in chaps, American flags, you name it. But the shakes- seasonal flavors such as strawberry and marionberry. The burgers are meh. I mean its burgers and fries so I mean it beats corporate Max Steak House otherwise known as MC D's. Not a fan of honey buckets! Please get a public restroom if I am going to eat greasy spoon American food, I want a potty not a pit toilet.

  • Tom S.

It's OK. I wanted to like it more but it seems like a bit of a tourist trap. Food wasn't bad but nothing special and a bit overpriced. They do a ton of business so expect long lines.

Been coming here since I was a kid.. Hasn't changed much in over 30 years.. Love it! Great food.. Great milkshakes!

It is exactly what you'd expect it to be. A good basic burger with a drive-in feel and really good fries. Speaking of the fries, if you get the chicken strip basket, you don't need fries with any of your other orders. In fact, they nicely asked the cooks to make sure we got a big order of fries when we didn't get them with our burgers, without extra charge. We had three burgers (one with just pickles and lettuce which they actually got correct), a bacon cheeseburger (good crisp bacon) and a mushroom swiss burger. The line was out-the-door when we got there, but it moved very fast and they have quite a lot of seating inside and outside combined. Also, we had just been to Ice-Burg in Walla Walla a couple weeks before which is a very similar place with rave Yelp reviews. Sno Cap was hands-down the better place (disclaimer, we did get burgers to go at Ice-Burg, so we didn't eat right away, but still). This was not our first trip to Sno Cap and it won't be our last either.

The best of both worlds and by that I mean they have real ice cream and soft serve. Call me crazy, but sometimes I just want a vanilla/chocolate swirl. This is an old fashioned drive-in style diner with a few small tables inside. Your basic burgers and fries, but way yummy ice cream treats. Enjoy!

HOMEMADE ICE CREAM?!? SOLD!! We stopped by Sno Cap Ice Cream on our way to Bend, OR, and did not regret the extra calories we consumed. They have a ton of flavors of homemade ice cream to choose from, as well as soft serve and other classic diner food. I really regret not trying their marionberry shake, but the soft serve vanilla was terrific- pillowy and creamy, and without a fake-y vanilla aftertaste. I also tried their Almond Joy ice cream and that was FANTASTIC- it tasted exactly like the candy bar, with a ton of shredded coconut in it. My friend got their black cherry walnut or something along those lines and loved it. I wanted to go back the next day to try the famous shake, but we ended up taking another route back : ( I will have to swing by Sisters again sometime just to get that shake!!

Oh, really cute place. The burgers are good and the fries are good and the millkshakes are good and prices are just right. With all the hustle and bustle in Sisters, there's not much use in wasting your time trying to find a fancy restaurant. We were just driving through so we picked a quick looking place and weren't disappointed. They have picnic tables outside with umbrellas to shade you. You really have to eat outside because the inside space is really limited and intended mostly for just ordering your food.

Amazing!!! Good old fashion burger!! I had the bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and a strawberry shake. I was in heaven! The fry sauce is out of this world! Everything was great!

  • Amber S.

This is just what you would expect it to be: a greasy, and delicious roadside diner. The burgers are great, the fry sauce is good, ice cream treats are great, etc. Fries, onion rings, tots etc. all good. The only downsides are the price which is too high by a buck or two per meal and the porta-potty restrooms. The staff is friendly and attentive. Great place for quickie lunch when passing through Sisters.

This place is a tourist trap, don't believe the hype. I have lived in Sisters for several decades and this place just keeps getting worse and worse- despite what the lines out the door may tell you. To be honest, I wouldn't eat here again if you paid me- there are no words to describe how dirty it is on the inside and out- I do not want to imagine what their kitchen looks like. You will lose your appetite upon walking in the door it is so dirty. The employees don't wear gloves when they handle food and I saw several employes put toppings on burgers and work cash in the cash registrar without washing their hands in between (not to mention their hands were sticky from scooping ice cream all day). There is dirt and grease built up everywhere (sticky floors, overflowing trash cans, mustard stains on the wall, dusty windows, gum stuck in various places) after years of failing to clean their restaurant- if you can even call it that. This place is a dive and I wouldn't touch food from here with a 10-foot pole. They do not even have restrooms- just porter potties near the drive in, on the street. I would not be surprised if the health department shuts this place down. I think this place would be a lot better if they took the time to properly clean it inside and out (although since it is so dirty they would need professionals at this point and it would take weeks to properly clean and sanitize).

If you want a greasy burger, some greasy onion rings and some good fries ~ AND want to add an awesome thick shake ~ you gotta hit Sno Cap in Sisters, OR. There is about three tables inside and the line is out the door, but it is worth the wait. It's not cheap for a quick Drive-In meal, but it is good. If you are heading to Black Butte, Bend or Sisters, this is a great lunch stop. Pro's: The food will be just what you expect... Shakes are great The Kids LOVED the place.... Con's: Sisters is a pain in the BUTT to drive through ~ very congested. Pricey Drive-In grub

Great burgers and fries. Even better milkshakes. If you want fancy go somewhere else. Try the Power Pac if you think you can.

#1) Lots of Yelper info on other reviews...good, bad or indifferent. #2) I am a local...I prefer to call my order in ahead of time & take it to go. That way I avoid "Conelickers" at all costs. We LOVE tourists...just DONT move here~~~~LoL! #3) All that said...I am a huge fan of PattyMelts. Trust me on this one! Hands down the best PM $ can buy...you will find it here! I get mine with grilled onions, x-tra bacon & fry-sauce! (1000 isle/special sauce) #4) Update...On the other side of the carwash, there is loads of new parking...all within a short walk. This is a classic Diner's, Drive-In's & Dive's place. Old fashioned service with lots of napkins & a SMILE! Cheers~

Burgers at Sno-Cap are good, milkshakes are excellent. Like most burger joints, there are a few flies in the summer. If that doesn't bother you, definitely try it out! (At least stop in for a milkshake!)

  • J D.

Some of the reviews of this place crack me up. This is a non chain fast food greasy type burger joint. I love it when I am in the mood for some indulgent food. Good burgers, rings , fries, etc. Great ice cream. Lines of tourists out the door all summer long. You can't go wrong unless you are expecting this to be something that it ins't claiming to be.

Sometimes first instincts are unwelcome and prophetic. We walked in and began to review the overhead menu. When I began asking about the burgers a local interrupted enthusiastically, "These are the best burgers in town!" I said, dryly, "Sisters is a small town." I asked what makes an "Old Fashion" burger old-fashioned. (A freshly ground hand-formed patty like L.A.'s long-running Cassell's is a good start.) They said. "All the burgers come with lettuce and tomato." Wow. Not even freshly-cut fries. $9 is much too expensive for a quarter-pound nothing-that-special burger with pre-frozen fries. Too much mustard. Canned mushrooms. Overcooked bacon. Stingy on the pastrami. None of the three burgers we ordered were worth the stop. But making a good fry sauce -- and calling it fry sauce when not in Utah -- and serving grilled onions instead of cold, raw ones, is enough to raise Sno Cap just above a one star burger dump.

Been stopping here for years on the way over the mountain (Eugene or Salem) when it coincided with lunch and the hungries. My son loves the peanut butter shake...gets it every time! Burgers are good and greasy, just like you would expect. Not cheap, but when you are wanting that made to order burger from a joint like this....it's perfect. Cons-- As someone already said, Sisters traffic can be a bear. So parking for this place can be a challenge at times. The line can go out the door, but if it's what you want, you'll wait. It can be a little crowded at one of the indoor tables. Hate to be gross here, but somebody's butt will be inches from your food and face while you are sitting at the table and they are ordering. You just hope nobody "breaks wind". Public restrooms are also a negative....portable outhouses and with the obligatory hand washer where you press the pedal with your foot. Sitting at the outside tables in the summer can be blistering hot and of course the fly problem. But all in all, we like the place and have frequented it on many occasion.

Everything you would expect from a dive-y drive-in burger joint. One thing that will keep me stopping here is the fry sauce! Mmmm some mayo goodness! The staff here are pimple faced and angst ridden but besides that you basically get what you pay for.

  • Rob M.

Average, expensive, untidy, move on. We thought the staff was burnt out, not unfriendly, just going through the motions. Also, was very unimpressed by the kitchen staff who had a tray of fried bacon on the pass through window and were grabbing pieces with bare fingers to make bacon cheese burgers. Probably had enough salt in the bacon to kill anything, but come on folks get a pair of kitchen thongs!

The burger was good, but nothing special. What irk-ed me the most was that my friend and I each ordered a cheeseburger then a basket of fries to share. We were extremely specific with our order and told the little brat that took it about 3 times to make sure she understood (as she had a blank look). Our food came out and one burger had fries and the other potato chips. I looked at the young guy who brought me the food and asked him where the basket of fries was, and he said that she must have done it this way because it was cheaper. I paid $14 for two burgers one with a piddly amout fries, the other with crappy lays plain potato chips. Burger was good... but not that good. Service was horrible. Stop here if you want some bratty teenage girl to make up your order for you.

Really good homemade ice cream! Their butterfinger ice cream was creamy and there were large chunks of butter finger. Their shakes were thick and delicious. The marion berry shake was really good and very big. A great stop during a long drive.

Sno Cap advertises "homemade ice cream" and the place was packed with locals on a hot July afternoon, so we ordered up a couple of milk shakes and got ourselves set for a fabulous old style test sensation. I mean, I had conjured up a vision of fresh blackberries and homemade vanilla ice cream getting it on in on of those hallmark Osterizer gizmos that only ice cream parlors seem to have. WRONG! As I made my way down the line, the soft-serve machines came into view and those fresh berries turned into artificially-flavored syrup. I didn't have the nerve to stop the server and ask for my money back, but I wish I had. That milkshake was inedible; two spoonfuls and it landed in the trash, right next to the Honey Bucket outhouse. In retrospect, they did have two flavor charts--one for cones and one for milkshakes. The homemade flavors are only available in cones; the shakes are all fake flavors. If you like your shakes to taste of perfume and chemicals, this is the place for you.

Just went for ice cream/shakes, but was incredibly disappointed. Ice cream servings were huge, but tasted freezer burnt. With 2 little kids, perhaps I didn't study the menu enough and get the right thing. Definitely not good for kids, with little room and no high-chairs. But, I have heard good things, so maybe I'll give it a shot again sometime.
