One of my favorite places in Silverton for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I've enjoyed several items from each menu and am always happy. Very casual coffee shop atmosphere although there is service at the table and nice art on the walls. A good combination of coffee (Silver Falls Coffee), baked goods and entrees. There is even a children's play area in the back. Most recently I've had the Strawberry & Chevre Crepes for breakfast and the Pesto Chicken Sandwich for lunch. My favorite side is their sweet potato oven fries. The menu does a nice job of covering both the sweet and savory, as well as meat and lighter options, so I always feel like something appeals to me on the menu. There is a focus on locally sourced items and is vegan/vegetarian friendly with some GF items. Even though I love to try new places in town, the Gathering Spot has served me wonderful meals and provided good service for several years.

Early lunch here today on the way to The Oregon Garden. Our lunch was just right! I had the steak salad with gorgozonla, green apple and candied nuts. The apple dressing finished the dish perfectly, imho. Hubby selected - and thoroughly enjoyed - the garlic asparagus soup and ham/spinach crepes. We departed for the garden fully satisfied, delighted in a wonderful meal at a very fair price. Service was great. We hope to return.

Went for a nice drive in the country just to try out this place. We were not disappointed. I had the smoked ham and white bean soup that had incredible flavor. My hubby had the spicy sausage frittata that left him craving more long after we left. The staff were friendly and got all our special requests right the first time and with a smile.

Great food, everything was FRESH! The service was excellent! We were traveling with our small dog, our server brought a bowl of fresh and a dog treat for our puppy. We ate on the patio so that our dog didn't have to wait in the car - we'll definitely go back the next time we're in town!!

Best breakfast spot in the area. Fine dining food at pretty reasonable price. Fresh local organic ingredients.

  • Sheila R.

I have not eaten here but their coffee is WAY over priced! A 16oz mocha with Irish cream cost more here than a 20oz white chocolate at Starbucks. (Starbucks doesn't have Irish cream so it's obviously not an exact comparison but still!)

Awesome food. A couple vegan and vegetarian options plus they will make any of the food items into vegetarian options but using tofu.

Went for the steele-cut oatmeal. they had on menu but were "out". Tried the french toast. Sweet gooey and very thick. too much. Not that great. the strawberry rhubarb topping was mostly berries and too sweet also.

Great little breakfast and lunch spot using fresh local and mostly organic ingredients! The Monte Christo was yummy!

On a leisurely road trip with dogs in tow and made a well advised stop in Silverton. I just love everything about the town - the Oregon Garden, a nice dog park with friendly people, and a downtown where parking is a breeze. Did I mention that 2 hours of parking is only a dime?? Coming from a place where a quarter will buy you maybe 6 minutes, I was fully amused at just how far my dime went! So where to eat in this little slice of paradise? The Gathering Spot of course. Service was friendly and relaxed, I had the cinnamon roll pancakes (ridiculously yummy) with thick country bacon, and a diet coke (yes, I know). So go! Enjoy Silverton and eat something yummy at the Gathering Spot - you'll be very happy you did!

The food & coffee are great, the service is polite and patient. My problem is how experimental their menu is, alot of if is vegan which really hinders plenty of people from going. The price too is just ridiculous. The place has potential but they need to put some more options for meat lovers and to lower their prices down to a reasonable amount.

Cute, affordable, delicious, low-key with wonderful vegetarian options. I was visiting family in Silverton and wanted to see my friend who's also a vegetarian. So I Yelped vegetarian places and this popped up so we went! We got iced Americanos which were perfect. And I can't remember exactly what I ordered but I was something along the lines of eggs, potatoes, English muffin with strawberry jam and Canadian bacon. It was so delicious and the warm environment was comfortable and cozy. I'll definitely be telling my family to visit!

Just had a delicious brunch! Warning; the cinnamon roll pancakes easily feed 2-3 people! Two thumbs up from the vegetarian crowd with interesting alternatives in tofu and vegan patties. The red potatoes and Carmel apple french toast were delicious as well.

Me: Stuffed french toast was delicious and the bacon was amazing. Girlfriend: Eggs benedict. Hollandaise sauce is delicious. Addition of florentine and red ripe juicy tomatos is amazing.

I visited here for lunch in early August. I had the Steak Gorgonzola Salad it was absolutely amazing! The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and timely, and the prices are more than fair for the quality and amount of food that you receive. Can't wait to go to the Gathering Spot again!

This place has breakfast perfected! Oh boy, I am so in love with this restaurant. We randomly found ourselves starving out in Mt. Angel one morning. I turned to my trusty Yelp app to find a spot to stop. Nothing caught my eye in Mt. Angel, so we ventured here just a few miles outside of town. The menu includes choices for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores alike. I chose the sourdough breakfast sandwich and my husband chose the lunch special of the day. I can't remember what that was, but he exclaimed more than once that it was the best (whatever it was) he had ever had. My breakfast sandwich was right in line with his reviews too. You can taste how fresh everything is. Does anybody remember The Little Red Bike Cafe in Portland? It was that good, but probably even a notch or two tastier. We were able to get a table right away, but it is a very small place, so I can see how there may be a long wait at times, if you come during a morning rush. The service was very personable. They have a very home-y, welcoming, small-town sort of vibe. I am a 45 minute drive away, so I won't frequent here too often, but I am dying to get back here already.

Omnivores, vegetarians and vegans all can rejoice for The Gathering Spot. A creative menu and delicious food (serving breakfast and lunch) are only the first among many things to bring out a chorus of "woohoo". Other great things: -- Friendly and efficient, simply delightful wait staff. -- Orders taken at and delivered to your table. -- Reasonable prices. Four of us dined well at lunch, with coffee, for about $35. -- Really good coffee by a local roaster served in great cups. -- All people are welcome here vibe and completely accessible from level in. -- Lots of space between tables. No "sardine can" seating here! -- Delicious looking bakery items (although we abstained this visit we'll be back). -- Sparking clean. -- Wonderful aromas of good, fresh food. -- Interesting art displayed for sale on walls by a local artist. -- Locally made aprons for sale on a rack by the door. -- A couple of neat little tables for outside seating when the weather cooperates. -- No TV or wifi. Cool! It seems to encourage actual conversation among folks sitting at the table together. Remember how that works? If you're going to or coming from the Oregon Garden, this is an excellent place to grab a bite! If it were in my town, I'd be a regular. THIS N THAT: 1) Highly recommend the Hemp Burger (vegan), the oven roasted sweet potato "fries" with the chipotle aioli (vegetarian). Others at our table loved the Cubano (pork and ham) sandwich and tomato basil soup (vegetarian). 2) Some have objected to the minimal $2 split plate fee but it bothers me not one iota. First, it is waived if you buy a second side order. As example, sandwiches come with sweet potato fries or green salad or soup. Order another one of those and no split fee. Second, it costs restaurants money for the extra plating and washing of same. Two bucks is very reasonable seems to me. 3) There is a little dish on each table with a few Trivial Pursuit cards. This may be your first clue that you may have to wait a bit for your meal if they are busy. No worries if you run out of things to talk about with your dining companions, you can exercise your brain with the trivia questions. Nice! 4) On street parking is "feed the meter" with a dime buying you two full hours. How quaint is that!

Great options for sweet, savory, vegetarian, or fulla meat! (My favorite). I like that they strive to offer only organic, local foods. However I was disappointed to see that the honey they offer was the worst quality you can imagine: unspecific origin (Canada, usa, Brazil AND Mexico? Not good) and definitely was not pure or raw. In the good ole PNW, there are billions of options for supporting an organic local honey business, so get it together people. Rant over. DH and I both got the monte Cristo which was EXQUISITE. Good size sandwich with egg bread had lots of gooey cheese, ham and 2 over easy eggs on top. Yum! Servers were super friendly and helpful, however a tad inattentive. Minus one star for the honey! Otherwise it's a great place to eat!

  • Cid B.

I so wish this little unassuming bakery/restaurant was in Portland! But if it was I'd have to wait in line for a table. So far I have consumed and loved: Pancetta & Grape Flatbread with an amazing balsamic reduction, Steak & Gorgonzola Salad with to die for green Apple vinaigrette, and from the Sunday brunch menu: Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Cheddar Waffles with mouth watering sriracha honey glaze, Pumpkin French Toast that made me cry for joy. Don't miss the white chocolate lavender mocha!

You may have noticed I have not made many reviews, but I so enjoyed this restaurant I have made the effort to let everyone know how good it was. Stopped in after long hike at Silver Falls State Park and could not have been happier with the Vegan lunch options. I chose a flat bread with balsalmic vinegar/pesto/grapes/hazelnuts and instead of pancetta I had tofu and oh don't forget the Chevre ( ok I am not vegan all the time). Delicious! Hubby had the vegie burger and well seasoned baked sweet potato fries. The salad came with a fantastic apple vinaigrette. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The staff are pleasant, helpful and service is good. I had the good fortune to meet the chef/owner Anna, who answered questions about the ingredients and was incredibly sweet to boot. Good job Anna, I hope you and your business prosper! We will be back again.

Came here after Word of Mouth told us there was an hour and a half wait! This place did not disappoint! Their Sunday brunch menu is amazing! Pear French toast was perfect - not too sweet! The eggs were made very well. The best part of the meal were the roasted potatoes with seasoning! The second time we came here, the eggs Benedict didn't hold up to the high standards of the first visit. There was a lot of vinegary taste in the eggs. maybe it was a different chef or a new chef, but the poached eggs should NOT taste vinegary. Overall, a good experience and will give them a second chance, but if the next time the eggs are not good, then I'll revisit my review.

Bah - what was an incredible find a year ago has turned into a shadow of what it once was. Although the servers are wonderful, they have to have switched chefs? Ate there twice during our stay: a take-out lunch; breakfast the next morning. Take out lunch was their chipotle bbq pulled pork, fresh fruit, lavender lemonade and a lemon lavender cookie. Am thinking the current chef doesn't know what chipotle bbq sauce is? Chipotle is smoke-dried jalapeño that imparts heat and a distinctive smoky flavor. The sandwich, although delicious from marinated pork was completely absent any hint of either chipotle OR barbeque sauce, but did have a nice mild coleslaw on top. The fresh fruit was high-quality and the highlight of lunch; and the lemon-lavender cookie was the bomb - the sole reason I'd return, at this point, to this café. They put effort into upscale breakfast offerings at affordable prices, but breakfast simply came out as ordinary with an air of "but we tried to make it look special" - a far cry from my past experiences where the offerings were upscale *as well as* the quality, taste and flair. Coffee was ordinary; the orange juice frankly tasted from frozen concentrate? (I nearly sent it back it tasted so poorly.) I ordered brioche French toast with fresh peach compote and anise crème fraiche; my date had buttermilk waffles with raspberry compote and burnt butter syrup. Sounds incredible, doesn't it!? Instead it came out lack-luster and uninspired: The French toast was a resounding "meh," with no subtlety nor depth; the peach compote - though clearly fresh - was bland. Some somewhat greasy red potatoes on the side didn't spruce things up. The waffles, rather than light, crispy and airy came out heavy and soggy; the raspberry compote an anemic, haphazard drizzle barely lending any difference in flavor from plain. The burnt butter syrup IS incredible, lending this dish the only thing that was special about it. Love the local art hanging on the wall. Love the warm and effervescent servers. Love the attempt at a menu that would be incredible if it actually tasted as incredible as the descriptions sound, but what was a 5 star experience for me is now a sold 3 :(

We stopped in on a Sunday for the first time and had a wonderful brunch dish. It was difficult to choose from the 15 + items on their menu . The food which was fresh,: mostly organic and mostly local was delicious, and the service was attentive and helpful. We definitely look forward to may future visit here.

Getting married at the Oregon Garden and need a place for your rehearsal dinner? The Gathering Spot Cafe did an awesome job for our rehearsal dinner this February. The space worked great for our group, the food was solid, and the service was excellent. They did a great job accommodating food allergies and special diets. The area worked great for our guests with small children and those with limited mobility. We had a food/drink minimum (which was easily met) and no facility rental! We had looked at a few other places and stumbled on this one which was perfect for what we needed. Thank you!!

I'm going to go ahead a give The Gathering Spot 5 stars based on most of the food I had. It is a lovely little restaurant/cafe with an adorable cozy feel to it, not to mention, very kid friendly! There is a little kids' nook at the back of the restaurant with toys and pretend-play things. Most of the food is local and NOT-processed. They strive to have local/organic/natural ingredients, which I love. The food was delicious!! I've ordered the apple/grape chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries- divine. I've also had their eggs benedict and caramel apple French toast which was infused with a hazelnut creme. Both amazing! The portions were great. I took my kids there for lunch and has ordered one order off the kids' menu -cheesy pasta with grilled chicken and it was so delicious!! I was shocked at how much came with for just one order- glad I split it between the three and four year old. There was also some seasonal fruit. So what made me so hesitant to give the Gathering Spot 5 stars was that I took my kids there for breakfast another day and got one order of chocolate chip pancakes thinking it would probably come with two average sized pancakes and some fruit (they are not huge meal time eaters) and for $5.50, it came with one tiny pancake that somewhat resembled Mickey Mouse. Not that I care about Disney themed pancakes, but really? A teeny tiny pancake for that much? I wished I would have ordered adult pancakes because for less than twice the price, it would have been quadruple the portion! Nonetheless, I will likely go there again to try all the other delicious-sounding menu items--- just not for breakfast with the kids.

Super yummy. Go early to avoid the brunch rush. Mimosas were extra champagne filled :-) the strawberry jam is always awesome. Staff isn't the smartest but the food more than compensated!!

Headed into Silverton for a birthday breakfast with the Wifey. Had no idea where to go and decided to yelp the best breakfast spots in town. Behold the gathering spot! A great Veggie hash and eggs breakfast was had! Vanilla latte, scrambled eggs, house English muffin and a molasses cookie on the house for bday dessert. All was great and we will be back to try the Benedict and stuffed French toast next time around indeed.

Stopped off here before heading to the Oregon Garden Brewfest. Nice, airy interior with an interesting lunch menu (plenty of options for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans). We both had the Hemp Burgers (vegan). I had a side of fruit and hubby had the sweet potato oven fries. The burgers were great - really tasty! We were surprised at the small portions of the sides (the plate looked a little empty) but after finishing it all we agreed that it was ample for lunch. The sweet potato fries (although not much of them) were really good. Hubby's latte and my homemade strawberry lemonade were refreshing. Nice, friendly staff and relaxing ambience. Good choice for a lunch treat (not budget-friendly).

Nice little cafe. The sandwiches are quite good. The menu is limited but interesting. The do not have bottomless soda. The art on the walls is quite nice, but expensive. We had a couple sandwiches and sweet potato fries, spent $20 and it was well worth it.

Oh Boy....this place needs some fixing. Four of us went for breakfast Monday morning arriving at 0815. Being our first time here it took us a bit longer to figure out the menu and what items we wanted to try. Finally the order was taken and we waited for delivery. We were the only patrons at time of ordering. Seeing a couple that ordered after we did get their food ahead of us tells me there is a problem in the kitchen. Then when we finally got our food it was not hot. Two of us ordered the Egg Benedict item and our eggs were barely warm and so was the red potatoes on the plate. My partner said later she saw our food sitting up on the counter awaiting for the waitress long before it was delivered. The food was tasty and good but it by no means rate anything above a 3 and especially at the price they are charging. Would we go back. Probably not as too many negatives will stick in our mind. One thing that was very annoying was the loudness of the music. It was at a level that the person sitting next to me was having trouble hearing my words as I spoke. Because of too many negatives I have to give this one a rating of 2. We may come back just for the dessert and pastry selection on our next visit to Silverton.

Excellent little sweet spot in Sliverton. We were staying at the Oregon Garden resort, which felt a little like a really nice retirement community. Nice and all but....... and the food made us feel...weird. Maybe old? We played hooky as we had breakfast paid there and snuck out, like two recalcitrant children, to "The gathering spot". As first I was disappointed as I had a hot cup of chai and a scone in my thoughts. The chai they have is the dry sugar mix, belch, and there wasn't a scone to be seen. Right when I was getting twitchy, my ever-loving level headed hubby suggested we sit down for breakfast and slow down. Good move. I ended up being very happy, rooting around in the tea bag selections that were most unusual and fun. (Just no chai) The breakfast was very well done with fresh ingredients and cooked with love. I had the sweet potato hash, which was amazing. Hubby had the Monte Cristo, which was equally amazing. He said the coffee was excellent. My advice to you, sit a spell and enjoy their good food made right. PS, to owner of "The Gathering spot", I know you read these, or at least I would if I was a restaurant owner. Get some real chai would you? Thank you

Please bring back the cinnamon roll pancakes! The gingersnap ones are only so-so. The Brussels sprout bacon had was delicious. Today's service was lacking, but I can always look past that for good food.

I really love this little restaurant! Whenever I am in Silverton I try and make a point in meeting up with friends here. Beautiful pastries and hands down the best soups in all of Oregon! I think the only thing I wish they had was free wifi but I realize they aren't really wanting that kind of crowd. Love them anyways :) Oh, and great homemade English Muffins.

Cozy, litte sandwich and salad shop for lunch in Silverton. We enjoyed the food, which included a solid turkey panini, sweet potato fries (which were really skin on sliced sweet potatoes, perfectly baked to a caramelized finish with some rosemary) paired with a tahini dipping sauce. We got a chuckle out of the nutella and marshmallow sandwich on wheat bread, but my daughter took that item on with dead seriousness, and she loved every bite of it. I'd love to give this place a shout out, because the food is quality, but I can't really bring myself to do it because... One frustration was an inexperienced server who didn't know her menu, but what really goaded us was a policy adding an extra $2 "share fee" to our bill, on top of a relatively pricey sandwich ($9) because we opted to share it. Seriously. It was a late lunch, we weren't too hungry, but gosh, I don't think I've ever been charged a fee to share an item in any restaurant in the last ten years, let alone in a sandwich shop. A $2 share fee to share a $9 sandwich? Complete ridiculousness.

I had a great experience at this quaint restaurant this morning. I took a to go order and ordered a latte, which they refilled with coffee for free after I chugged the latte down. My food was delicious, especially the red potatoes. The atmosphere was family rich. There was a family of about 20 enjoying a meal together, which was sweet to see at such a small place. The servers were friendly, also, which makes it a place everyone should want to visit!

I found the service to be slightly unwelcoming and a little slow. They have a rotating menu so you never know what's going to be there. We ate here for brunch once and I ordered a pancake dish. It came with a small dish of syrup and when I asked for more, they said it would be another five-ten minutes because they had to make more? That was weird. It was tasty, well half of it was because there wasn't enough syrup! Positives though: the salted caramel bar, lavender lemon cookie, white chocolate lavender mocha and campfire mocha. I'll be back for more of that :)

My husband and I headed here for breakfast this morning during an adventure. He had the monte cristo sandwich, I had the steak hash, and our baby had a little bit of everything. The food was incredible. This is the best breakfast I've had since eating at the Screen Door. The gluten free bread was the closest to bread tasting I've had since I went gluten free 3 years ago. The servers were great and really family friendly. They brought us an extra plate for the little, and made sure to set everything well out of his flailing reach. Our receipt had a coupon for the tea shop down the road, too, as an added bonus. We'll definitely make sure we have another adventure that brings us past here for breakfast.

My wife and I have been to the Gathering Spot several time; for both breakfast and lunch. They have a little play area where our three year old son can draw on a chalk board or play with trucks. This is a huge plus. The food is very good. I would say it is one of the better places to go in Silverton where you can take a child and not have to worry about the atmosphere. There just seems to be something lacking that prevents the food going from very good to great, thus the four stars instead of five. I just can't quite put my finger on what it is. All in all, a great spot for my wife and I to take our son where we can eat, he can play, and everyone is happy.

Came in for breakfast on a whim and look forward to making this a new ritual! It's quaint and very well done. The staff is friendly and extremely comfortable. The salmon omelette I had with potatoes and house made English muffins was amazing. The coffee was good and they offer bakery/ ice cream treats to boot! Would recommend for brunches or a pit stop heading to the Falls.

I love this place! Finally went here with a friend last weekend, and am going back this weekend with out of town guests. The service was great, and they truly know how to make the perfect cafe au lait - which has been surprisingly difficult to find in Silverton. I had the eggs benedict florentine, which were done perfectly, and my friend had the veggie hash, substituting tofu for eggs. She was impressed that there was no extra charge for the tofu substitution, as there is at many places apparently. I'm taking off a star because my potatoes were underdone - there's nothing sadder than a bad side of potatoes. :-( Other than that, everything was most excellent.

Three Thumbs Up! I enjoyed the breakfast crepe and it was wonderful. The pesto sauce was incredible. The corn meal english muffins are a nice bonus to the cuisine too. Coffee could be better though, thus minus a star.

The food was good and held enough promise to be worth coming back to. They had a little play area where my two year old could sit and color. That was very, very nice and gave my hung-over self a break. The food was great from a taste standpoint, but not so great from a texture standpoint. I had a steak sandwich - tasted great, but needed some goo to keep the contents from falling out. My wife had asparagus soup - tasted great, but was full of tiny inedible strings like celery strings, to the point where after each mouthful of soup we were coughing up these little strings. Left the soup largely uneaten. Worth another try: I will be back.
