We have very much enjoyed our stay at Edward Adams House B&B. The historical house and grounds are simply beautiful. Nancy's rooms are crispy clean & the house is immaculate. Nancy is a delight. She is very thoughtful & knowledgeable. Nothing is left out from a detail. She has crossed every "t' and dotted every 'i'. We loved having the cherry wine that she has left for us in the dining room and the touch of chocolate almonds on the pillow was a perfect touch. The candlelight breakfasts we had were superb! The food was delicious! The daily fresh flowers from her garden on the dining room table added to the charm and the ambiance of the era restored dining room. We would definitely stay there again!
The Edward Adams House B & B in Silverton was a pleasant surprise. We bypassed Portland, and this is where we stayed instead. The owner is a classically-trained violinist, and played in the Los Angeles area for many years. The house has been lovingly and knowledgeably restored, and is pleasant, clean, and delightful. We received a coffee tray in front of our door in the morning, and chocolate cherry liqueur when we got in in the evenings. Breakfast was home-made baked oatmeal, quiche, and granola with yogurt (one each day). We liked it so much that we stayed an extra day. Silverton and the Oregon Garden were also charming.
Like many first-tier B&Bs, the Adams House has charming rooms, polished hardwood floors, an exquisite outdoor garden and pagoda, and sumptuous breakfasts, along with evening snacks and silver tray coffee and tea service in the morning. It's a historic landmark house in a picturesque mid-Willamette Valley location East of Salem and within easy striking distance of the Cascade Mountains as well as many of Oregon's prime winery destinations. It's not even that far to the coast, for that matter, or to marvelous state parks like Silver Falls, one of Oregon's most popular for locals and outside visitors alike. The downtown is quaint, walkable, and classy, with excellent shopping, coffee, and dining out options (esp. the Silver Grille). And of course the owner, Nancy K., is approachable, animated, and articulate, making you feel smarter and more sophisticated simply by being in her presence. The rooms upstairs (there are 3) have distinctive flair and unique features: Sara Jane's room has a wonderful Victorian "fainting couch," which is comfortable enough to fall asleep on (trust me on this). Eleanor's room has an octagonal turret in the tiled bathroom which lets light pour in and reflect off the pale white walls and porcelain surfaces. If you haven't taken an actual reclining bath in a long while, this is your chance. But for all these amenities - and they are indeed impressive - the most remarkable feature of Adams House is the library and LP record collection, which Nancy has meticulously organized in one of the second floor rooms and made available for guest use. I spent several hours perusing the book shelves on my first visit, reading, browsing, and jotting down titles and authors of interest. It was like being in a bookstore. On my second visit, I ventured into the music collection, starting with a beautiful recording from 1955 of Glenn Gould's "Goldberg Variations" by J.S. Bach. Inspired by the experience, I went back to the shelves and located a recording from the 1980s by a Czech pianist of Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations." By the time I was done listening, breakfast was ready. What a nice way to start the morning, don't you think? Visiting Silverton and staying at Adams House is not so much "stepping back" in time as it is "stepping sideways" in time: moving horizontally away from the routines of your regular days and nights and experiencing, however briefly, an alternative universe: one in which music still plays on records, books still are written on paper, and tea is still served on silver in fine china. It's easy to appreciate - and hard to leave behind when you return to the road. I doubt that you will be disappointed by your initial visit. You'll likely return in the future, just to make sure that it wasn't just a dream, after all.

Took my wife out for dinner last night at Silver Grille. We wanted a really good meal, since there isn't anything in the Stayton area we went to Silverton. This is the 4th or 5th time at Silver Grille and we have never been disappointed, last night was nothing different. The food was AMAZING!! Easily the best food I've had, including Salem and Portland areas. We both highly recommend a visit (or several) here for dinner. It is great to have a restaurant that actually strives to use local seasonal ingredients and not just claim to. We will most definatly be making return trips! If you love wine, they have a great selection of high quality local wines. O, and for those that don't drink wine, they also had a full service bar, last night they made margaritas out of fresh strawberry passion fruit lemonade!
We were so happily surprised by this place! We started with the peach salad. It was simple and the peaches were perfectly ripe. We also had the beet salad. It had a few too many components that were great on their own but together muddled the tastes. The "dirt" was so exciting and well balanced. We kept returning to it and wish that it had been dispersed over the salad more thoroughly. The cold corn soup was a revelation that signaled we were at a truly wonderful place. The soup was delicate and decadent at the same time. The olive oil on top was a good touch and the smoothness was a nice departure from the typical chunky corn soup. It was almost like a desert so we were suggest sharing this. We then had the angry chicken and ravioli, and the ravioli. The tomato sauce was exceedingly fresh and the ravioli was perfectly cooked. The ravioli was fabulous and the chicken (appropriately sparse) and sauce we well nuanced. This was some of the best pasta we've ever had. We then finished with the lavender tart and the orange desert. The lavender crust was a bit tough overall quite good. The orange desert was also good. Overall, this was a very positive dining and eating experience. We also loved that there was a table available that was slightly set apart from the rest of the restaurant.
Our special place..... Outstanding chef, menu, service, atmosphere. It is pricey for the area. Silverton is also a great place to visit....stroll through. Park your car at the nickel parking meters. There's an old-fashioned movie theater and the Oregon Garden is near. This is the restaurant to visit if you are in the area -- and if you are not. It's genuine farm to table, made with care. No tv or loud noise. Very romantic. Please don't bring children unless they are extremely well-behaved and quiet. This is a class place.

This is a little place that we have always driven by but never thought to stop. We were introduced to take out from this restaurant last week and we have already gone back twice! The burritos are amazing!!! Looking forward to exploring the menu a bit more but for now I highly recommend the pastor burrito with everything on it.
This is honestly my favorite Mexican restaurant I've been to. The food is delicious and fresh. The bakery is full of wonderful pastries for a great price. The people who work there are very friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone. 5 stars!!!
My group had a burrito craving after a night of camping for Oktoberfest. This was the highest rated Mexican place in the area so we took a trip to Silverton to give it a try. The interior looks like it was pieced together little by little with free supplies. I counted 4 different types of vinyl flooring that I could see from my seat, but Thats not really what matters. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There were a lot of other Latino people coming in and out to buy their fresh pastries so I imagine they're traditional and tasty. I didn't have room to give one a try unfortunately. It took me a few minutes to get a handle on the menu posted behind the register. The layout is kind of messy and your choices and combinations aren't obvious right away. After a few minutes I decided to go with a steak and egg burrito with everything except onion. I'm glad I made that choice as everyone else in the group said the onion was more than they needed. The burrito was pretty big. My friends had a hard time keeping the bottom end of theirs closed as they were pretty loosely wrapped. Mine was easier to manage somehow. There were a few bites of steak that were too stringy for me to swallow but overall it really hit the spot. I'd recommend giving it a try.

One of my favorite places in Silverton for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I've enjoyed several items from each menu and am always happy. Very casual coffee shop atmosphere although there is service at the table and nice art on the walls. A good combination of coffee (Silver Falls Coffee), baked goods and entrees. There is even a children's play area in the back. Most recently I've had the Strawberry & Chevre Crepes for breakfast and the Pesto Chicken Sandwich for lunch. My favorite side is their sweet potato oven fries. The menu does a nice job of covering both the sweet and savory, as well as meat and lighter options, so I always feel like something appeals to me on the menu. There is a focus on locally sourced items and is vegan/vegetarian friendly with some GF items. Even though I love to try new places in town, the Gathering Spot has served me wonderful meals and provided good service for several years.
Early lunch here today on the way to The Oregon Garden. Our lunch was just right! I had the steak salad with gorgozonla, green apple and candied nuts. The apple dressing finished the dish perfectly, imho. Hubby selected - and thoroughly enjoyed - the garlic asparagus soup and ham/spinach crepes. We departed for the garden fully satisfied, delighted in a wonderful meal at a very fair price. Service was great. We hope to return.
Went for a nice drive in the country just to try out this place. We were not disappointed. I had the smoked ham and white bean soup that had incredible flavor. My hubby had the spicy sausage frittata that left him craving more long after we left. The staff were friendly and got all our special requests right the first time and with a smile.

Service was fast and friendly.. But the coffee..... I had a decaf latte and my wife had a non fat Latte. Adjectives like burnt and slightly sour come to mind for both. It was not awful but it was not good either. Neither of us finished our coffees which is very unusual. I think next time in Silverton we will try another place for coffee.
This is such a cute little place. The coffee is consistently good, the peeps working there are really friendly and a pleasure to chat with...yeah, even the teenagers! :) The pastries are always fresh, and they always have my dog's favorite poppyseed muffins. My favorite coffee in town, no question. We were even able to set up an account over the summer so the kids could pop in for an ice cream or a snack. That was a really nice service they provided...only little independent places can get away with that. We'd rather do our business with local peeps than with big corporate conglomerates when we can, and this one not only fits the bill and does it well but is walking distance from my house! Score!!
We have rode to Silverton many times over the years just to get a great latte from Kristy here .We have never been disappointed!

I grew up in Silverton and live in Salem, but had not heard of this place. My husband, who is an import from Illinois, took me to Silver Falls a couple weekends ago and surprised me by finding Water Mountain. It is VERY small, so grab a table when you can find one! The meals are not too big (but not too small either!) and extremely inexpensive for the quality! It's hearty food: eggs, bacon, etc. I got corned beef hash and my husband got a barbecue patty melt. Simple, humble restaurant with great food.
Wonderful little country find on the way out of Silverton heading to the park. It must open at 9 am, though because we went back the next day for breakfast at 7:30 and it was closed. Still closed when we drove by at 8:45. $5.00 burger and fries. In fact I think everything on the menu was $5. It wasn't organic, free range, vegetarian food, but it was fresh and tasty and that price can't be beat!!! Willing to bet they are open more seasonally. We will go back!!!
Best Breakfast for the $$$ in these parts. 5 bucks gets you a lot good food. The guy does a good job. You won't be disappointed

Fresh food, great service! And when you ask for hot it's hot! Blister your lips hot ;) I have ate at a lot of thai places and they are deff really good! Rated them a 5 because food was great and the service was amazing :) Love this place and will stop by when ever I'm in Silverton!
This place is worth the drive to the hinterland of Silverton. It would probably not attract your attention from the street, but the food is surprisingly good. This is a family run joint...two sisters (front of house, mainly) and husbands doing the bulk of the cooking. The sisters are a hoot! They look almost like twins, but one is very verbose and the other a little more reserved...both enjoy a joke and teasing so, go ahead...but remember: they can "dish" it up also!smile There are two standouts on the menu: the shrimp cakes and the BBQ beef with coconut rice. Five shrimp cakes make one order...they are crispy, delish treats and you'll be fighting for the last one...so, think two orders! The beef dish is not what westerners would think of as BBQ...it is more a tender slow cooked flat iron stake that is very, very soft in texture...not everybody's cup of tea, so to speak. However, the succulent nature of the beef pairs well with the delish coconut rice...the serving size is good and you'll have plenty for a lunch the next day. Prices are modest, but not cheap. The Thai Dish Cuisine has your standard menu items...the stir-fried pineapple chicken is good and would go well with the coconut rice if you decided that the beef was not quite what you felt like. You will be surprised by the whole dining experience.
Kind of a let down. The food was just sorta...meh. It wasn't terrible or anything, but it was not memorable food at all. Also, they were playing this awful Christian music super loud the entire time. Maybe some people are into that, but it just makes me feel really uncomfortable while I'm eating my lunch. Also, the portions were kind of small for $8 (the lunch price) I can get more, better tasting Pad Thai at my local place in WA. But, if you're in Silverton and wanting Thai, I'd recommend the one other Thai place in town-- City Thai-- they're not AWESOME either, but they're better and less expensive than this place.

Stopped in here for the first time today. I'm a coffee snob and I hate being served bad coffee. I've also been to a lot of bad small own coffee shops. This is not one of them. The coffee here is excellent quality. Service is friendly and food is good, but when I go to a coffee shop I care about one thing, good quality coffee that is prepared right. This place does not disappoint
Great place to hang out, get some jo and a quick bite. Under new ownership and you will likely be served by him. The back deck is the place to be on a sunny day!
As far as coffeehouses go, this one was only OK. But you will be missing out if you stay in the front room. All of the interesting seating is in the back room and if you are lucky enough to visit on a sunny day, then sit on the back deck overlooking Silver Creek. They use beans from Pacific Coffee (Corvallis). My drink wasn't terribly hot and since I walked in behind another group, there was a long wait since only one barista was working. I'll be checking out another local coffeehouse on my next visit through town.
