I'm honestly surprised by the reviews complaining of the service here. I had the exact opposite experience - the employee who took my order was friendly and personable, and helped me narrow my choice down from several options I was considering. He even complimented me on my motorcycle! The sandwich was cooked perfectly and really hit the spot. I'd gladly return the explore the rest of their menu.

This place had a really good sandwiches. I do not think you can go wrong. A sandwich and a bowl of their clam chowder is the perfect combination on a rainy day. The outstanding item that they had for me was the real fruit soda that they carry. I wish that I could purchase a box full. It is a low calorie soda made from real fruit and is worth trying if you haven't already.

Excited for soup and sandwich. Nice day, front door is open, walked in and the nerdy, obviously frustrated owner tells us that they're not open. Then yelled at us for opening the door and coming in... the door was OPEN!!! Also, you open in 10 mins. Take our order and let us sit. Aholes.

My favorite sandwich shop in town! They have amazing fresh bread and I love the chili! So good! Staff is always friendly, a good casual family spot right by the turnaround

We ordered a "hot" sandwhich and the bread wasn't toasted or hot, it was mushy and gross! Should have been a panini or at LEAST had the bread toasted, and for $12 it felt like a rip off! The customer service was also awful! I wouldn't recommend and personally I will not be returning!

  • Austin M.

The food was good and the place is clean but it seems like most things are a tad over priced and the portion isn't very big.The biggest thing that makes me turn away from this place is the attitude that was presented and its really to bad because I believe the guy that is usually working is the owner his attitude just changes the hole atmosphere but hey if you don't mind the attitude and price it's a good place to get a sandwich.

  • Terri H.

I ordered half sandwich and soup, and both were delicious! Reasonable prices. Order at the counter and pick your table. Casual place, good food!

We went at a good time when the restaurant wasn't too crowded. I had the Surfers Cove sandwich and it was great. They forgot to put cheese on my kids' sandwiches but they fixed that. Service was good overall and we'd go there again for sure.

  • Tabitha B.

The food was ok. Nothing special, but not bad. The staff was not very kid friendly, & quite irritated when my child changed their mind. They again got frustrated when they handed me my tray & I reminded them my order was to go. Not a place I would need to revisit!

I'd like to start off by saying this has always been a "must go "place for lunch on our many, many family trips to Seaside. Yea it may be a little costly but it's well worth every penny. Their sandwiches and clam chowder are delicious! I will say though the last few times we have been there we felt like more of a burden to the staff then welcomed there. A smile and friendly service are definitely lacking here. I'm glad I read some of the reviews and realized I'm not the only one that noticed this! Lol I get touristy busy season can be crazy but you gotta keep that smile on your face.. Those "touristy" people keep your doors open:)

Let me start off by saying the pastrami sandwich was good. That is where the compliments end. The guy running the cash register was extremely rude. My wife ordered a hot dog and the dog was cold, so I split my sandwich with her. As I was disposing my trash apparently the guy running the cash register was giving me the evil eye the entire time. So despite the good sandwich. I would never visit there again. Try somewhere else.

So happy with the lunch my husband and I had here. I ordered the Tilimook Rock sandwich and it was perfect! Fresh ingredients on yummy bread. My husband was happy with his sandwich as well. We ordered shortly after they opened at 11:00 and our food was out super fast. I wish they had more options for sides with your sandwich... It came with a bag of chips but a nice slaw would have been good. Their location is great - Right off the beach! We will be back for sure!

  • Jim S.

I found their sandwiches to be just average, and the service deplorable. It was a fine example of its breed, being an overpriced relic of a seaside tourist trap. Spend your money down the road at Camp 18.

Wanted a sandwich for lunch but you can get a subway anywhere so we saw this place and decided to give them a try. I got the signature Tsunami Pastrami and a Buoy 10 it's kinda like a French dip. So we got our two sandwiches to go and when I picked up the bag it felt kind light. I guess I was comparing them and expecting a subway footlong weight. When we got home the sandwiches were professionally wrapped, and upon opening the rye bread and pastrami looked good, I think they are using good quality ingredients to make there products. At first I was thinking that the little sandwich wasn't going to fill me up (I am a big guy) but it surprisingly did. Taste was good to the last bite. I would say it's a $8 sandwich not a $10 so I took one star off for price. Would I go back? Yes. I always check the yelp review before trying something new! Thanks Tsunami for the good food!

Just arrived to town and stopped in at 9:46pm for a sandwich and the very rude manager, Rachelle, refused to make one because it was too close to closing time (10pm.) Update: Hi David, thanks for the response. As I mentioned to you when I called you today, We went in with the sole intention of ordering a cold sandwich...we were told no sandwiches (hot or otherwise) ....we were quite hungry after driving in from Portland. Look at the facts for yourself, or stick to your guns, makes no difference to me. We are visitors and I imagine your business runs on tourists....so, to say you don't serve sandwiches at 9:46pm at a sandwich shop that closes at 10pm is just bad business, I'm sorry - we can go back and forth like this all day if it makes you happy.

  • Samuel G.

I was waiting for a while for my sandwich and it wasn't much better than a normal Panera Bread sandwich. They also have ice cream, but it is just Tilamook. I recommend Flahback, just down the street.

  • Brian S.

Great sandwich shop! Clean and bright with hot and cold sandwiches. We had all 3 soups, tomato in a bred bowl, clam chowder and chili. The chili was flavorful with a little spicy finish. Pastrami Reuben was also tasty and a good tuna sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and the star was nice.

  • Brandy D.

We keep seeing all of the Yelp reviews for Tsunami Sandwich and so we decided we HAD to stop in--and actually, this is a great little sandwich shop that's really worth the trip. Super friendly staff, great sandwiches for everyone (unique and not), local beer, and ice cream to boot! Skip the lunch rush and hit them in the late afternoon. You'll have the place to yourself!

    (5)
  • Ashley L.

Great Pastrami Sammich. I always get the same thing. Also serve huge hot dogs which my kids love. Staff is usually friendly although I have caught them on grumpy days.

    (4)
  • Hannah B.

Sandwiches are like your average sandwhich shop but with creative names. staff is friendly, but the only reason I won't go back is because I can't justify their prices for the portions they give. Maybe if it came with a better side and drink. Left hungry and not very satisfied.

    (3)
  • Amelia G.

We only had ice cream here but they have a nice assortment of Tillamook ice cream at reasonable prices and friendly service.

    (4)
  • Jen K.

For the same price, would you rather be impressed or merely satisfied? Easy answer, right? The only problem is geography. We spend a fair amount of time at the Oregon coast and one of our recent discoveries for a beach picnic was Seasons Cafe and Deli in Cannon Beach. We ordered six sandwiches for our group, all different, and each received a great review. Two weeks later, our activities were based in Seaside, so Tsunami got our business. The sandwiches were... just OK. The positives: ** Location is fantastic. Located just steps from the Seaside Promenade on Broadway, if you are already set up on the beach, it is an easy walk to pick-up food. ** Speed. On a busy holiday weekend, my order was ready within a couple minutes. They bang it out. I can't bring myself to put the menu in the positive category. Although they have a decent selection of hot and cold sandwiches with cute local names (Stormwatcher, Beach Bum, Hot Chick, Summer Breeze), it is pretty basic deli fare. The only thing slightly interesting is that some sandwiches are served on Marble Rye, not something you see every day. However, I didn't particularly enjoy it paired with my sandwich choice (Saddle Mountain). Most sandwiches are in the $8 - 9 range, with hot dogs and sausages between $6 - 8. Each order comes with a bag of chips (your choice from six, mostly Doritos). They also have a Tillamook ice cream counter for dessert. Back to geography. Seaside isn't my favorite place to hit the beach or dine, so in comparison to its neighbors, I'll give Tsunami three stars. For Seaside, it is fine. But, there are better beaches and delis out there.

  • Ben B.

The food here is great! My wife and I will be coming back in the future. The staff is friendly, which is a plus. The only downside is it is a little on the expensive side but considering the convenient location it's not too surprising. Overall a great place to get a great sandwich!

Walked past this spot and looked at the pictures which were amazing. After playing on the beach for 2 hours and waiting to dine here, we first grabbed our 4 year old son and 10 year old daughter corn dogs from across street. Having every intention to order 2 full meals for my wife and I, as well as something for the children to share, immediately upon walking in we were told rudely "No Outside Food Allowed". I alerted the gentleman that we were planning on ordering plenty of food, and he said "you can order your food to go, and take it with you". I continued to tell him "we are trying to spend money in your business, and plenty of other restaurants allow outside food". The gentleman replied "where, McDonalds?". This was completely offensive considering my entire family is African American, and it seems as though he was insinuating that that was the level of dining we were used to. Being a business owner myself I found completely insulting and disrespectful that I was trying to spend money with this mans company and he was hell bent on turning us away because our children had 2 corn dogs from the stand across the street, but my wife and I has waited 2 hours to dine here. This man was rude and very insulting, as well as making the degrading reference to McDonalds. I wouldn't recommend the food as I wasn't given the chance to dine there. The customer service was terrible, and the manager wasn't considerate of our children and completely disregarded us spending our hard earned money at his business. I was very disappointed considering I waited to dine there. Below you can see that David P from the Restaurant replied with an in accurate version of the story. He did not apologize, my wife made him apologize. Seating is for customers? We came in to order food which is what customers do. We weren't looking for seating, we were looking to eat and become patrons of business that looked appetizing. We were offered immediately to order our food to go, as though we were not welcomed. When it comes to people with children you must understand and be accommodating. We didn't come in this place with 4 kids with Happy Meals, we came in with 2 children with half eaten corn dogs attempting to patronize this mans business. Reference my first line of this review and you will see that I said the picture looked amazing when we first passed the business. So from an advertising standpoint they are doing an great job. From public relations standpoint, the service was terrible and he was very aggressive with little understanding. We wanted to spend money and enjoy some good sandwiches and clam chowder, but weren't given the chance.

I visited seaside for vacation, and I would highly recommend this place for anyone! The sandwiches are amazing and the food comes out fast. They also have good soup!

A cool little sandwich shop right off the beach at Seaside. Very nice. We went in for a snack and we pretty much all got the same thing. Clam Chowder. YUM. When you are out at the beach and the wind is whipping you about and after collecting sea shells (or fragments of them at least) with your daughter and running around in the water, you need a little something to tide you over til dinner, which didn't happen until much later over on Cannon Beach. Friendly place with plenty of sandwich options, hot dog options and Thumanns meats. Water and soda options as well as some local Oregon and Washington St. beers in bottles. As for the chowder? No disrespect to Boston, but this stuff was really good. Even the kiddo (who is picky at four years of age) loved it. It was creamy, but not too thick, lots of little clams and potato throughout it and in every bite and just a nice flavor to it. It needed no seasonings and it tasted great with some oyster crackers. Perfect bite to eat early in the afternoon. The place is perfect for the area. Do stop in, the "yelp loves us" sticker is there.

Just an update! I was visiting Seaside again this year and I brought a friend with me and I said that we must visit Tsunmai Sandwich Company. Great experience, the minute we walked in we were greeted, by I assume, the owner. He is a nice guy and he took our order, which was to go. We didn't wait very long and it was ready My friend said that was one of the best toasted sandwiches he has had and can't wait to return! Thanks again for another great experience!

  • Tami C.

Ordered 3 sandwiches and all were excellent. Would have been 5 stars if not for the man behind the counter that took our order. Rude, unfriendly and obviously hates his job. Went back to doing something on his cell phone as soon as we'd finished ordering. Sorry to bother you!

  • Evan O.

The meat in the sandwiches was really delicious but the bread they used was just a little too hard. All together a nice feel and a good product.

Yay! I have been coming to Seaside each summer for years and this summer I discovered this gem of a sandwich shop. It was busy at lunch, so be prepared for a little wait - but it's well worth it. I was delighted to learn that Tsunami offers UDI's gluten-free bread and my sandwich was tasty to the max. Tsunami offers a ton of different cold and hot sandwich combinations and you definitely get what you pay for. The sandwiches are generous and filling. Their kids' menu is really reasonably priced with a child-friendly selection of lunch foods. I'll definitely be back to Tsunami. Its excellent sandwiches and close proximity to the beach make it a must-stop for beach days in Seaside.

  • Matt C.

Great sandwiches and only slightly overpriced. Seating wasn't available at first but we were eventually able to snag a table. Sandwiches were around $8-9. My mom had a cold turkey sand which that was very average. I had the Lewis and Clark (Reuben) and my son had the bouy 10. Both were hot sandwiches and were outstanding!

    (4)
  • David D.

Awesome- had the Tsunami dog with pastrami- it rocked! Best hot dog west of 5th avenue

    (5)
  • James K.

Stopped in for a sandwich & soup. I had the Lewis & Clark (ruben) and clam chowder my wife had a sandwich & cheddar broccoli soup. Both sandwiches were excellent but $3.50 for watered down soup was the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5

    (4)
  • Prima B.

I could have given 5 stars but they don't have vegetarian soup. They might on some days but not my lucky day today otherwise the Necanicum sandwich I had was very good. The portions are just right. Not overwhelming. The place is clean and service was fast. I will definitely come back here whenever I crave for tasty and fresh sandwiches.

$$ spent .. Almost $12 for a sandwich.. Dry.. Cold.. Owner was Rude.. When I asked about the situation..

  • Jennifer M.

Cute little place, just steps from the beach. Good size sandwiches and a very good variety to choose from, with some fun combinations. They even have one with turkey, cream cheese ad cranberry sauce. Fresh bread and tasty. The man working the cash register was also very friendly when we walked in. That's the good part and for that, I'd give 5 stars. Here's why I am only giving 3 stars. We choose this place because I have a gluten allergy and they serve gluten free bread. I ate about 3/4 of my sandwich (gluten free bread) and about 30 minutes later I had a pretty bad stomach ache. I can't say for sure that was from the bread or something else. I would definitely go back, I just may be more careful about what I eat.

Best Clam Chowder in Seaside, if you like it creamy! Get it in a bread bowl and you won't be disappointed.

  • Karl W.

Stopped in for a sandwich with the family while on vacation. Two of us had the Lewis & Clark (a pastrami Reuben), one had the Bouy 10 (a roast beef dip with a few more toppings), and the Saddle Mountain. One order was entered incorrectly, but the other three were good. Being on the main drag near the turnaround, I expected the slightly high prices for a deli. The soup and chowder were good and they also have Tillook ice cream, which we didn't try.

    (4)
  • Lucy O.

Wow! My husband and I stopped by this place before we headed back to Portland and we loved it! Freshly sliced meats with all of the fixings... They also have hot subs and panini's too! The owner is a super nice guy and seems to take pride in his sandwich shop! I'd definitely give this place a try!

These ladies are amazing!!! Food was so delicious and made right!! Close to our hotel and next to the beach!! And my whole sandwich as a meal was 10$ haha thanks ladies!!!

Found this place while talking away from the beach. Good stuff. Service was friendly, pastrami sandwich was pretty good and they had Ivars clam chowder.

  • Jason D.

The food was okay, but it was the experience with the staff that really ruined our lunch. **If you're looking for my review of the food and not the service, skip to the 3'rd paragraph.** It was a cold, windy day at the beach with my family who was in from out of town when we decided to have a nice lunch. I hopped on Yelp!, did a quick search, and saw that Tsunami Sandwich Company had some of the best reviews in the area; without hesitation we set course. The space/decor is adequate and it was probably a little busier than normal inside as it had started to rain and the wind was howling outside. I was there with a group of 6, all adults, and we waited in line until it was our turn. The man behind the counter seemed less than enthused that we had decided to eat lunch there, everything about him from his mannerisms, words, and tone of voice conveyed the sense that he was put out by our patronage. I confirmed with others that I wasn't the only one that noticed it. My dad ordered first and needed to use the restroom so he handed me his card as he wanted to treat everyone to lunch. I took up the back of the line and presented the card when it was time to pay. Seeing that I'm a 33 year old man with what was obviously my family I didn't think it would be an issue, but still said "hopefully it's not a problem, but my dad wanted to treat and he's in the restroom right now" when I presented the card. Oh it was a problem... the guy asked "who are you?" and when the answer that I was his son wasn't good enough, he refused to take the card so I just pulled mine out and paid. Okay, so the service sucks, hopefully the food is better... We sat down, but seeing as we'd been spending the day sipping coffee and walking around Seaside most of us had to use the restroom, which was quite clearly available to the public. One after another someone from our table would get up and use the restroom when it became free. That is, until it was my turn. After my girlfriend came out and as I was standing up, one of the employees put an 'out of order' sign on the bathroom door. I asked if she would mind if I used it really quick and she responded with a very blunt "it's out of order". It was clear what was going on, the staff was obviously annoyed at the amount of customers entering their business, ordering, and using the restroom, so they decided to close it. I saw customer after customer walk to the restroom only to turn away disappointed when they saw the sign. Classy. Phew...now to the food. It was okay, definitely not 4-star worthy. I would put the food at 3 to maybe 3 1/2 stars tops. I had the pastrami which was actually pretty decent, but the clam chowder was not very good and some of the other sandwiches I tried left a little to be desired. So staff aside, I'd probably have given this place 3-4 stars. Personally I find it incredibly insulting when I patronize an establishment only to be treated as if I'm putting the staff out. We were in the restaurant for about 20 minutes and the entire time I was fascinated by how the staff was acting, they were rude to most of the customers and it seemed like taking money from their customers was more a chore to them than a service. I think it's safe to say that I won't be returning to Tsunami next time I am in Seaside, especially if I have to pee!

  • Janet F.

Yummy! Recommend the reubens (they call them Lewis & Clark sandwiches, don't know what's up with that). They're perfect deli reubens, better than I've had at some chi-chi delis in big cities. Tried two other sandwiches, also hearty and delicious. Just steps from the promenade. Go and enjoy!

    (5)
  • Brandon W.

I ordered a french dip. Reminded me of a fresh cooked prime rib dip! Delicious! Also had tomato soup. Amazing! My wife ordered a turkey sandwich which she felt wouldve been better hot, however good food.

  • Jeff C.

Probably the best sandwhich in town but cannot compete with some other places that I have been to in bigger cities. Service was ok food was good but not great. They have hot and cold sandwiches, chilli, clam chowder, and hot dogs. About 9 bucks per sandwich.

    (3)
  • Joshua D.

OK but a bite expensive for the quality. Bread quality was lacking but the meats were top notch so a bit lost about how that happens. Overall I wouldn't seek it out and not putting on my list for our next visit.

    (3)
  • Jessica C.

I have eaten here about five times (every time I have visited Seaside). Given their location, they could easily use cheap ingredients and charge a ton anyway. Instead, they use good quality, fresh ingredients and really make a great sandwich. The chili was awesome too! We have little ones with food allergies and special preferences and they have always accommodated our special requests. It's a great place to eat in Seaside.

  • Tom S.

Stopped by here on a fantastic sunny Friday in February. They enticed me with a bread bowl of chowder. I'm a sucker for that. Too bad the chowder was Ivar's, instead of homemade. While it's far better than Mo's, it's still heat and serve and for goodness sakes, I'm on the coast. This is a small sandwich shop right on the main tourist strip in Seaside, about 100 yards from the beach. Didn't try the sandwiches, but the prices seemed reasonable for the location. Also had an ice cream here. The sample size was pretty good and my son was super excited with the size of his kids cone. It's tillamook ice cream so you can be sure its pretty good. I'd probably give the place 4 stars if the chowder was homemade and delicious. A decent clean place with friendly staff. Likely to visit again when in town.

    (3)
  • Greg C.

Food was pretty good overall. A little better than a 3.5, so I'm giving it a 4. I had the soup/sandwich combo with the chili and hot chick sandwich. Not a big fan of corn in chili, so the chili was just okay for me. The sandwich was above average. I was happy with it. Everyone else in the group seemed to like their meals. Fun location.

    (4)
  • Sue W.

Really superb sandwiches that are freshly made and well worth the price! The servers always seem a bit tired and bored (even texting on the job!), but the excellent food makes up for that. We return again and again for these sandwiches!! I never thought I could get all excited over sandwiches. My favorite is the veggie . But will be working my way thru the menu for sure!!!

  • Tina B.

Very nice sandwich shop- sandwiches were huge, service fast and helpful! The pickles are delicious!!

    (4)
  • Laurie S.

I had their tsunami pastrami (1/2 lb of meat!) and it was delish!! Also had their Iver's clam chowder (the best!). We'll be going back!

    (4)
  • Heather T.

The sandwiches might be the best in Seaside but I'll never know because the big blond girl working there seemed to hate her job. I decided that I wouldn't give my money to a company that allows their employees to be rude to their customers, so after a few minutes of obviously imposing on the lazy, less than friendly counter chick, I decided to turn around and leave. I won't be going back either, that way she can have more time to sit with her friend and read her magazine like she was doing before I rudely interrupted her for a sandwich.

    (1)
  • Caro M.

Delicious ice cream! I was able to order without being hurried and the serving size for the one scoop waffle cone was perfect to satisfy my craving.

    (4)
  • Jose R.

Great gluten free sandwich! Little spendy but holds up to a good quality deli. Five star would have been more for price. $3.50 for little cup of soup in exchange of chips. Good soup just spendy.

  • D S.

Tsunami's is on the main strip in Seaside, on the southwest end. This place has a long list of hot and cold sandwiches. Also serves soup, chowder (not homemade, but Ivar's), and different dogs. I had the veggie and cup of chowder and my friend had a dog. The veggie sandwich was fresh, both veggies and bread. The dog was a dog, can't really mess that up. The service was nice and the place was clean. The only hiccup was the beer. It didn't taste right (as I've had many Mirror Pond Pale Ales) and after finding the "best buy" date it was 2 weeks past. Eeek. I couldn't finish it. Good place to get a a low key lunch to take to the beach. Minus a star for no homemade chowder and for the old ass beer.

Great sandwich shop right near the beach. Quality ingredients & good service. They were delicious.

    (5)
  • Rob C.

Oh my god the Louis and Clark sandwich is amazing. I love a good reuben sandwich, but not many restaurants can make a good one. Tsunami, on the other hand, they got that shit down! The thinly sliced pastrami is delicious. Great combination of ingredients.

    (5)
  • Stephanie B.

Best sandwich on North Oregon coast, worth every penny! Have something for everyone, decent kids menu selection as well. Dine in or take out, just a few steps to the beach. Pastrami on marbled rye, awesome!

    (4)
  • Dawn J.

I love all the grilled hot sandwiches. The tomato soup is amazing!!

    (5)
  • Mike Q.

Lewis and Clark sandwich is delicious. The prices are pretty cheap considering they are one the main strip.

  • A C.

Watched a blond with a tat sleeve wipe her nose on her hand before cutting the order prior to mine. I wasn't too grossed out after years in food service, but methinks some hygiene films and plastic gloves should be on order.

yummy subs and the potato chips that come with the subs are amazing.. the rosemary is the best! YUMO

  • Robin A.

It seems like it would be one of those independent sandwich places... but it's basically a glorified Subway. Nothing really stood out, just meh sandwiches. It was our first meal after getting into town and we were pretty hungry/not willing to look for a place. Not that cheap, either. We didn't go back, and I probably wouldn't go back when I return to Seaside.

  • Mollee F.

Decent sandwiches almost as close to the beach as one could get. This is a place-your-order-at-the-counter joint with just a handful of tables for eat-in customers. We snagged a table before ordering (because it was that busy on a Saturday afternoon). Husband got a sort of French dip sandwich and the chowder. He was more than happy with his choice. I got the hot dog which was a huge, but not exceptionally flavorful, quarter pound beast. Overall, it was just lunch (albeit a bit of a pricey lunch). Nothing too memorable to have me running back.

    (2)
  • Ari C.

Awesome deli foods and soups. I give it a five star but it's a bit on the pricey side. Great beverage selection also :)

  • Roger M.

Awesome food. I did not want to eat at the usual McDs, so decided to try Tsunami Sandwich Company. I ordered the Hot Chick. It had Buffalo Chicken Breast, Bleu Cheese Dressing, Tillamook Cheddar, and Tomato on Rustic White. The bread was grilled to perfection. It had a crispy crunch to it but by no means was it dry. It was a very juicy sandwich. For $10 I got A big sandwich, bag of chips and a drink. Next time I am in Seaside I will stop in and try something different.

Really good sandwiches. Nice and clean. Highly recommend. Average sandwich price is $8-9. Very near the promenade.

OK, why aren't you getting sandwiches here and taking them to the beach? This place is for the moments we all hope for in life. The perfect sandwich. A moment on the beach. Sharing a spoon to eat a wonderful soup. Here's your moment. Take it.

Great place for an awesome sandwich, I have ate here many many times and always go back smiling and needing more. The quality of the meat, veggies, and bread cannot be beat ANYWHERE in Seaside. For sure the best lunch spot in Seaside if you appreciate a good quality gormet sandwich and friendly service.

The products they use at Tsunami speak to the slightly higher price tag, which I don't mind. The ingredients on my sandwich were fresh and I don't feel like they cut corners on the portion. My 2 star rating is based soley on service. As it was our first time dining there, I wasn't familiar with the menu so I was taking some time to review it. The man at the counter didn't seem very pleased with this, so I asked if he had any sandwiches with an aioli or pesto to expedite my decision and he replied "we just have what's on the menu". Wow. At that point another patron had come in the door, so I kindly stepped aside for them to order. When the customer was finished, I ordered the Buoy 10 and was on my way. I'm not sure if local businesses are still coming down from the Miss. Oregon pagent chaos or if they're stressing over the 4th of July crowds, but we've not had much luck with hospitality in Seaside thus far :(

Good sandwich shop for a quick eat. The sandwiches aren't huge but just the right size for a lunch. They also have local ice cream.

A gem near the promenade! Stopped in for a hot sandwich (The Beach Bum) and a hot cup of chowder. Both were excellent. This may easily become my new favorite lunch spot! Friendly staff (as one reviewer mentioned, David made you feel as if you entered his home), a good location, and reasonable prices for the amount of food. What more could you want? They also serve the FANTASTIC Hot Lips sodas, in crazy flavors like blackberry, pear, and raspberry. YUM!

Disappointment. After the couple of good reviews, I was really looking forward to trying this place out. I really believe in patronizing small businesses such as this. Unfortunately, we walked out disappointed especially as we walked back into town for this place based on the reviews. We went in there at about 3:30 today. There was a gentleman waiting for his sandwich to be prepared. We were not even acknowledged by the worker indicating it would be a minute, welcome, or anything. Then when she delivered the sandwich to the gentleman, she helped us in her less than enthusiastic demeanor. Right there, puts this place at a 4 star. We ordered our four sandwiches and asked about the special being advertised on Yelp for the free chowder with sandwich. She did not know anything about it, so we got the chips. Another strike! I had the Hot Chick which was pretty small in my opinion for $7.50. For the price you think they would be decent size, wrong! This was the same for the other sandwiches as well. The roast beef sandwich that my son ordered seemed to be a little more reasonable in size, but still less than impressive. So after we hurried up and finished our sandwiches as it was freezing in there because the door was open and it was 40 degrees outside, we were on our way. We will not be back to this place. I had to even talk my wife out of going to Quizno's. My bad. It is too bad as they had potential. The decor is nice and it is clean on the inside.

I loved my grilled PB&J but the chowder was pretty tasteless. The service was great though!

Stopped in today for ice cream only. We each got a cone of Tillamook ice cream. The service was great and the ice cream was tasty. I would go back again for ice cream and would try the sandwiches and soup.

We walked in on our way to the beach for some ice cream. To our delight, they proudly served Tillamook. I had the Oregon strawberry and my husband had the cookie dough. They gave us HUGE scoops for a very cheap price. I'd recommend everyone to stop in here for ice cream.

Good sandwiches, pretty quick service. However, I think it's a bit overpriced for what you get.

So we tried to eat there in August, 2012. My kids just turned 2 and 4. They wanted a corn dog so we got them 1 to split across the way (they don't eat much). It wasn't busy that day, so I sat down with the kids while the other 3 adults ordered for them and me. They guy at the counter stopped what he was doing, came over and said we couldn't be in his shop with the corn dog. I said even though we have 4 paying adults ordering here? He said correct, people will see the corn dogs and not eat at his shop. I was very surprised they would not allow young kids to eat a corn dog there, (I could understand better if my kids were older like 8 and 10) so before my wife ordered I picked the kids up and told her they won't let the kids eat a corn dog there so let's go somewhere else. My wife was surprised too, and she said what? So I told her again. Then the guy at the counter started to confront me and said, "You know, you don't have to be rude about it. There is a sign on the front door that says no outside food or drinks. You should read it." I didn't think I was being rude about it since I was telling my wife exactly what he said. Oh well. I didn't say anything else, we just left and took our business elsewhere. I found the sign on the way out. It's a small sign that I think was green and had very small writing. I never read everything on the outside of a restaurant before I eat there. Looks like I should start doing that. Won't be back. I'd rather support a business that lets our kids split a corn dog. Still can't believe they turned down a $40 order because of that.

First off, I'm a sandwich whore! I love a good sandwich and this place hits the spot. Seaside is a horrible place to eat, the restaurants are very limited but this place could stand it's own in any city! The meats are very fresh and high quality. I ordered the Lewis and Clark, basically a ruben. All ingredients were on par and the bread was perfectly toasted for me. Crisp, fresh and a perfect crunch. All the ingredients were proportionate ( not too much meat or too much dressing, etc) They must have made changes since the first review because it was the perfect amount of food. Not too much nor too little, we were completely satisfied when we left. The owner David genuinely seemed interested in our opinion and made us feel like he invited us into his home. He gave a us a sample of his Anchors away chili, it was spot on! The menu describes it as a perfect amount of spice and for someone who likes spicy food I loved it, and for someone like my fiance who is border line spicy food she loved it. This will now be a staple of our Seaside trips. Keep up the great work David, we have 5 more days here and I'm hoping to work through the menu!

Stopped in with my family of 6 for lunch on a Sunday. We just beat the rush and was able to snag their inside picnic table by the front window that sat us all. I had the Lewis and Clark, their version of the Reuben, and enjoyed it along with a Scottish Ale from Pelican Brewing. They served Ivar's clam chowder in a bread bowl, which is always a safe choice. The prices seemed a little steep, $8 - $11 for a sandwich, but it's literally a stones throw from the sandy beach in a tourist town. All in all, nice spot, good food, we all enjoyed it.

Customer service and friendliness needs some work. The $8.25 sandwich tickled my taste buds but didn't fancy my wallet. When asking to make a substitution the worker told me after the fact that it would add 3 more dollars on to the cost, I understand up selling but that sure wasn't what I meant by substitution.

Excellent sandwiches! Fresh and sizable. If you want cheap and nasty go to Subway down the street. If you want to support local business and let your dollars count, come here. A nice break from the fried kingdom that is Seaside! Get the Necanicum if you want veggie, delicious!

Great Sandwiches, great service. Nice clean place, right on the strip close to the beach. I got the Tillamook Head Sandwich (very good), my husband got the chili dog with home made chili and he said it was great. We both got chowder and it was good, it's not home made it's Ivar's but still good. I like that they use lots of NW products. Good Soda selection and beers. I felt comfortable having my baby there (lots of families there). The one and only draw back is that it's a little on the spendy side for sandwiches, but I'd go back.

Stopped for lunch here. Close to the beach. The veggie is good with fresh veggies and the bread is fresh. Hot dog for the grandson is, still a hot dog. Reuben-like sandwich for the hubby which he liked. But: don't drink anything there because they will tersely tell you they do not have a restroom for the public so cross your legs and hope you find a public restroom close by.

Very average sandwich shop experience. I tried the soup of the day - creamy tomato, and the sand dollar, I believe. It a grilled cheese with tomato slices. Perhaps it was because it was the last of the soup (I heard the cashier asking if they still had a bowl), but the soup was unappetizingly thick. It was creamy and gloppy, with pieces of tomato. And, it left my mouth feeling slightly greasy. The sandwich had both good and bad. The bread was a nice, thick country white, grilled golden on the outside. But the cheese was congealed. Rather than looking like the cheese melted and then congealed as it cooled, I think the cheese actually never got fully melted. It made me a little bit sad. But I could see from the bread how other sandwiches might be quite good. They have Tillamook ice cream. *Update: In addition to the positive message left below, the owner sent me a nice message inviting me back. I was not in the area to take him up on the offer, but appreciate the level of customer service. Obviously a place that takes pride in its food and treats customers well.

The food was good but I had this weird feeling that food and menu decisions were made on the basis of a cost-benefit analysis not from the heart and soul of the chef. My spidey senses were telling me that something was amiss. Maybe it's that they don't make their own ... anything? We had good tasting hot turkey sandwich and a clam chowder bread bowl. From the bread to the soup to bread bowl, opportunities to partner with a local biz (say a bakery?) if not make these sorts of things from scratch were neither taken nor evident.

First a short explanation. I had read a good review of this place so I decided to stop by and see what was happening. My first impression was neither good or bad, which immediately told me this was not great. I wasn't all that hungry and figuring if I tried anything I should go for a menu item that represents what this eatery can do so, I opted for a cup of their "Homemade" Chili. I'm the first to admit that Chili is a very subjective dish. I have witnessed many an argument over what constitutes good chili. And for what I have observed, minds are rarely changed. Tsunami Chili is best left alone. My first taste left me wondering, who thought this was A.) good chili and B.) something that would bring people back into the store. It was bereft of any depth, character without the slightest touch of punch that a well-rounded Chili should have. There was no complexity, nothing that would separate this Chili from middle school cafeteria fare. Now, granted, there are a lot of folks out there who enjoy middle school cafeteria Chili. I'm just not one of them. HOWEVER, this is not the reason for the one star. As I ate my Chili (which I tossed all but three bites of) I had the advantage of having a clear view of one of the workers slicing meats for sandwiches (one of which I was planning on ordering). And as he was slicing the meats he was eating from the slicer as he worked. I'm not a wimp when it comes to kitchen staff touching my food. In my restaurant kitchen touching customers food with your hands was necessary to make an attractive presentation. But, I would never allow my cooks to eat off a customers order. This is just bad policy as well as a major health violation. There are enough wonderful joints to patronize I don't have to help these people out. I cannot recommend Tsunami..... UPDATE: 16APR13 I received a response to my review from the owner of Tsunami Sandwich Company assuring me that the employee snacking on customer sandwiches would be put to an end. I appreciated his earnestness and sincerity and decided to make a return visit. (I also noticed a "Help Wanted" sign in the window. I hope the two are not related.) First a bit of background. I travel about 15 days a month throughout the country. I spend a considerable amount of time and money in restaurants, cafes, and bars. As a result I have enjoyed many a meal out and always try to eat indigenously. Meaning in Memphis it's BBQ or Catfish. In Milwaukee it's Fish Fry. In Denver it's Wild Game...you get the idea. So, I am aware that my experience with Deli Sandwiches is colored by my experiences in New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, the Meccas of Deli Sandwiches. With that aside I tried to be objective about Tsunami Sandwich Assuming that the previous problems were resolved I entered the shop and was told by the counter person that their Hot Pastrami Sandwich was their Signature product. So I ordered it. Here is my review of their Signature product the Hot Pastrami Sandwich. The meat was very lean and juicy. I would consider it to be a very good product. I was not overly spiced yet still had character. The quantity was ample and it easily made a meal. I do believe that most customers would find the Pastrami to be tasty. Now we come to the bread, Marbled Rye. This is the Achilles Heel of west coast Deli's. For some reason, Deli owners in this part of the country focus on what's in the middle and not what keeps it all together and for a Signature item this critical ingredient should not be overlooked. I noticed the bread was unacceptably dry about 1/2 in from the edges while the center was moist and most agreeable. I'm not sure whether most people would take exception as this seems to be standard for most Deli's as they lack the experience or knowledge on how to keep their bread fresh. I have never experienced this bread condition in quality Deli's in New York where discriminating noshers know what they are eating. Having said all this I have to surmise that this being a common affliction of Deli's in this part of the world that it is acceptable to both customers and purveyors. This is also the reason I seldom frequent Deli's outside of those parts of the world that know what they are doing. I have no doubt the owner of Tsunami Sandwich wishes to produce a quality product...this is why I gave it an additional star. But, if I want to have a really good hot sandwich I will drive a few more miles down the road and enjoy a really great sandwich at the Relief Pitcher in Seaside. They take pride in their product. PS The counter people where great. They came out and asked me if I enjoyed my meal. I told them I liked the meat and about the bread and they apologized and said they would check their stock rotation. I was impressed.

4.5 for the prices. Other then that the service was great, and the sandwiches were amazing! Could of been a little more stacked for the price but the taste was excellent. The Louis and Clark was a favorite. Going to be heading back before I take off!

My wife and I had lunch here is this quaint little town we passed through while driving the pacific coast highway. This place was crazy busy when we were there, so we got our food to go and ate on the beach. Sandwiches were great and fresh. Staff was super nice. Would definitely return.

First of all I must say it was very clean, and well organized. The staff are very friendly. I was amazed by how many choices they had and all of them looked so good. I had the Louis and Clark Sandwich and it is simply the bestest! They have a large selection of choices for drinks as well. The atmosphere is very casual but nice. I was asked by the staff how my lunch was and that to me means alot. They really care about your experience there. Simply put... the best sandwich I have had in a long time.
