I have been spoiled by many great Mexican restaurants. Sadly for me, they all exist very far away from here. I am always hopeful that I will find one that will come close to some of my favourites, but as the Oregon Coast is considered, I have not been that lucky. I will find one with great chips and poor salsa. One with awesome salsa, but stale, bagged chips. One with flavourful food, but no fresh iced tea. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein (Frankenstein!!) when I describe the "pieces of quality" that I pick up as I try Mexican places here in Oregon. Mazatlan offers good food at a fair price. It is a nice place to sit down and be served by some nice folks. We have always had decent service that was above and beyond polite and professional. Food tends to be par for the course when it comes to these kind of places. I have found at most places that first cook your plate (hot plate!!), all use pretty much the same recipes for their menu offerings. Basic formula, basic food. The food here is good, but not great. Portions are large, but for the most part, no menu item really as jumped out at me enough for me to crave it and make a return pilgrimage to get it.

Very average Mexican food. Cadillac Margarita was not well made, lazy. Chicken was dry. Salsa is running and lacks taste. Service was good and friendly. Food came out, but microwave was probably used.

We had a really good meal and amazing service! We were so pleasantly surprised. I am not sure what other people were expecting but we will absolutely come back.

I think the service was superb, however the food was pretty average. I would come here again. I am going to try some other places though. It is not something I would drive to seaside just to get. Price was average as well. I do think that the food is authentic, no americanized Mexican food, but then again I'm Asian. I think Mexican food, real good Mexican food makes you want to salsa, and this did not. I'm still looking for a good place though.

I would say 3.5 stars really... but am erring on the three star click as opposed to the 4th star. Being gluten free, Mexican is an easy eat for me. I mean, hello tacos! Mazatlan Mexican is on the way in (or out in my case) of Seaside. It's pretty Mexican-kitch inside. Good old hole in the wall vibe (and to clarify in my books this is a good thing). Service was friendly. Not fast, but very friendly. I decided to get the enchillada dealio. Chips and salsa hit the table fairly quickly after we were seated. I should have laid off them, it was a healthy serving to share even, so by the time my enchillada arrived I was pretty full. The enchillada were good. Not fantastic raving amazing, but good. Not great enough to overstuff myself. But good enough I ate until I was full. For the price and the kitch I think it was great.

Superb Mexican restaurant with superb service... Went there about a month ago with my roommates in tow while we had to escape the house while fumigating. They have a bit of a secret menu, I gathered, since my Venezuelan roomie was able to order various Latin American treats in Spanish... The Mole was superb, truly superb, the service prompt and courteous. Three different kinds of salsa were ultimately provided to us with chips, and they were all good. The coffee was truly excellent as well. The only complaint I have is that they seated a loud and large party next to us when the rest of the restaurant was basically empty; if it weren't for that it would have been five stars without hesitation. But I know that whenever I'm in Seaside this is always where I will eat, full stop. You will not get enough of this food, promise.

Being from the central valley of California, I have had a lot of really good, authentic Mexican food. I did NOT have very high expectations from a Mexican restaurant in Oregon, let alone one in Seaside. Man was I surprised. Their food is actually really good, margaritas are plentiful, the waiters are extremely friendly and the prices are good too.

Worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. Dirty. Smelly. Food tasted funny. Guacamole is our family "test" whether it's a good Mexican place... Theirs tasted like it was from a can & had been opened days ago. It was fermented & had bubbles in it! We r all grateful none of us got sick. But then none of us took more than a bite of food.

We drove past this place after a late movie and we were really craving Mexican food, so we had to stop. We walked in and were greeted by a very cheery man who took us to our seat and handed us menus. The selection was huge to say the least. There was a ton of great Mexican food, and there were also some American options for younger kids. The taco salads and fajitas were great, and this place is hugely recommended if you're in the area. Best meal of the vacation by far.

Our family has been coming to Mazatlans for 10 years. Every time we come to Seaside we make a point of stopping here for dinner. The service has always been outstanding, the staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make us comfortable. I usually order the shrimp fajitas and think the flavors are delicious. My husband ordered the 4 item combo: chile relleno, chicken burrito, beef enchilada, & tamales. He was very impressed. Huge portions with enough left over for tomorrow's lunch. Love this place!!!

There appeared to be only one waiter in the place. We asked what made the fajita sauce "tangy", and was told that he could not tell us other than it had citrus in it. Seemed kind of rude. When we were done with our dinner and had some leftovers, we asked to take them home. He brought a box and told us we would have to box it up ourselves. My wife asked for no mushrooms and got mushrooms in her dish. We put the mushrooms in the middle of an empty plate so he would notice them. He didn't offer an apology or even acknowledge that they were there. If the place was busy, we would not have minded, but the place was empty. The servers can make or break a dining experience, he broke it for us.

Avoid! My partner and I went here yesterday at around 3pm when there was only one other table of people. It took 10 minutes to be greeted and 50 more minutes to get our food. At the 45 minute mark, we told ourselves we'd leave in ten minutes if the food wasn't here yet, but it did come. The enchilada was edible but the chimichanga was cold and dry. I was so hungry and so sad that we paid over $30 for a meal that we couldn't finish. I'm writing this review not to get any employees in trouble but to warn other Seaside visitors to save their money for somewhere better.

Worst Mexican food my wife and I ever had. I had Tacos AL Corbon which was 2 plain tortilla with unseasoned steak strips inside. Wife had Cameron's Ala crema which tasted like thickened flour and had lots of brocolli and califlower mixed in. Never seen that in a Mex. Restaurant before. Overall just horrible.

Went here with a friend. I ordered Chicken Flautas. This dish came with guacamole and sour cream, and generous helping of both! My friend ordered this too, but didn't want the sour cream and guacamole. So, they put my friend's share in a small dish and gave it to me, but I didn't even need it! Flautas were good, although you only got two, along with the rice (I don't like beans). I have to comment on the salsa. I have a finely tuned palate for determining if the salsa is made with fresh tomatoes or cheated with tomato sauce. It was definitely "cheated" tomato sauce. I should remove one star for this, but their food was good so I'll leave it at five stars. I think they make their own chips. Their parking lot is very small, no room for RV's. I came here with a friend.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. I went to Cannon Beach for a quick mini getaway and wanted to eat somewhere delicious. I was worried because it's such a small town and I wanted to dress up but decided not to because I didn't want to stand out lol... there aren't fancy restaurants like the city life, over here they're more casual. Anyways I was craving Mexican food and wow... I came to the right place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAZATLAN is PERFECT. Great customer service and their food is just mouth watering!!! No tax and cheap prices. Can't get no better. I love love love it here!!!!!! We ordered #17 and #3... Every bite, wow. Amazing... The strawberry margarita is the best ;) Everyone come here it's just... amazing. You can feel the culture i

Hostess was not very friendly. The food was below average Mexican. Would have rather had Taco Bell

I was there a few weeks ago with my 8 year old daughter. She ordered the kids quesadilla with rice and beans. I ordered a taco salad. All of a sudden she yells "what's that?" And I look over and there are literally ants crawling all over her plate and I look closer and there are at least 10+ dead ants in the rice. And I only glanced at it as it totally gave me the willies. We told the waiter. You could tell he was a little embarrassed. They have her a new quesadilla and no rice and beans. She told me she didn't feel like eating (no kidding!) and they didn't even comp her meal. That was literally the most disgusting thing that's ever happen to me at a restaurant. I could only imagine how many there really was if we're were to examine the food better. Gross!! Zero stars! I should have called the health department.

Nothing special. Waiter was funny and very talkative. Food was fair, service was fine

The most horrific experience of my life. The people are extremely rude. DO NOT GO HERE. The service is worthless and the food was absolutely disgusting! When I asked to speak with a manager about my experience, he told me he didn't have time to speak with me and to go somewhere else! Unbelievable!

Discusting food soft tacos were like rubber and there serviced sucked and they only allow one free refill on your drinks and they are 2.25$ a peice ....do not go here!!!

Delicious food, delightful margaritas and a staff that goes above and beyond in kindness! We were instantly greeted by our waiter upon entering the beautiful décor. Throughout the entire stay, he was delightful, prompt, engaging, funny and had wonderful stories to tell. We were traveling with my two nieces, and he even engaged them with fun stories and Spanish lessons. My sister and I will definitely be coming back whenever we visit Seaside! This is one of the most pleasantly surprising customer service experiences I've ever had. :-)

My wife called the restaurant to ask if they had any allergy information for customers, the receptionist a woman was very nice and transferred is the manager "Jose". Jose immediately told my wife that he was too busy to answer any questions and to just come in. When my wife tried to ask her five word question, the manager immediately interrupted her and said "I'm too busy" and hung up. She called back and tried to get someone else to help her, and " Jose" said it was a bad connection. Then after she asked if they had allergy info, he said he didn't have time to go over it with her and hung up again. Extremely poor customer service. My wife called back to speak to someone else.. No answer. We called a fourth time, but this time used my phone. Instant answer... It was Jose again, when we asked to speak to someone else, Jose told my wife the she wasn't worth his time and that we should just go somewhere else.. Well Jose, that worked.. Good riddance asshole. If you are looking for a meal, go somewhere else people.. This place is obviously too understaffed to function. Last note: I literally created a yelp account solely to share how awful this place is.

Not terrible but not great either. The veggie burrito was nice but the pina colada tasted like food coloring.

Savory taco, enchilada & tamale combo plate. Fast service, pleasant environment. Reasonable prices. I would recommend "Mazatlan " to anyone looking for good Mexican food in the Seaside, OR. area.

We passed by this restaurant a few times and it always seemed pretty busy so I told my wife that we should check it out. As we walked in the manager greeted us and made conversation with our son. I work in retail for AT&T so I know that customer service is very important and the service we received was over the top! Funny thing is we live about 5houts away in a different state and the manager knew some of the people that we knew, small world. Chips were very fresh and the salsa was very flavorful. I ordered enchiladas and Chile relleno, both were excellent! I recommend this place to everyone. And to Shannon S.... REALLY a guacamole test? If you base your opinion of every Mexican restaurant by that, don't even step foot in one! Anyone can make an awesome guacamole dip and it seems like you've never been to a Mexican restaurant that serves Authentic Mexican food.

So yummy! My kids said this 4 times while eating so that is a plus! Service was personable and right of the bat great! Food was delicious and generous sizes for the price. Such a great experience for an out of state stop.

The restaurant is located on Roosevelt (Hwy 101) in Seaside. Roosevelt was called Holladay for many years until the city changed it. Service was fabulous and good food. They were happy to check if the Piña Colada had any dairy in it, which it does not. My food came without any cheese and I was happy the server made sure my needs were met. We would definitely eat here again. Plus we all got to practice speaking Spanish.

I was visiting from California for a wedding. This place is really good, and where I come from we have tons of great Mexican Food. The service was knowledgeable and friendly, the portions for the price were sooo big! My friends highly recommend the margaritas- a testament that even though they are located in a place with many tourists, they don't water down the drinks. You will go home with leftovers and I would definitely go back should I ever be in the area again.

This restaurant gets 3 stars...it had potential to go up to 4 because the food was pretty good, but the service and atmosphere was lackluster. We were seated and served chips and salsa quickly. This was a good thing for the hungry kids. The menu was old and ragged...they had taped handwritten menu changes on top of printed items. This gave the menu an outdated feel. My sister asked about different menu options and the server shot her request down quickly with no suggestions on how to accommodate her tastes. This was surprising for a Mexican restaurant because different enchilada sauce flavors are normal menu options at most places. I think I would have been "ok" with the lack of options, if it were handled more politely. This seemed like an issue with customer service. When the server took our order he seemed to be in a rush and hurried to scribble on his note pad and zoom off to the kitchen. Part of the feeling of dining out is to feel like I am wanted somewhere, and appreciated for going there. This Mexican restaurant makes you feel like you are inconveniencing them for making them take your order and serve you. Then the food came out. My food was good - it came out exactly as I ordered it. I ordered the enchiladas combo plate with rice and beans. To get black beans it was an extra $.75. This up-charge was clearly noted on the menu, and if I had to guess it probably is due to the slow business not going through food products fast enough to be able to offer both styles of beans. My son gobbled up his enchilada ala carte and was happy. My sister's food came out with a couple of mistakes. Toward the end when I started speaking to the server in Spanish I seemed to get better service...he gave me many compliments on my beautiful family which was quite nice. I think that this restaurant might be struggling to make it and is short-staffed so the ones that they have working are trying hard to take care of too many tables at once. Everything felt rushed here, but overall the food was good. If you're tired of "fast" food options like chains and pizza, this is an ok option while you're in Seaside.

this restaurant is beautiful inside and out, but the employees definitely have no charm whatsoever. The hostess didn't even look us in the eye, all she said was "how many." and "come please" and then the server came up to us literally within a minute of us sitting down and in one 3 second gust of words he greeted us, asked how we were and if we're ready to order. So we definitely felt rushed right away. Bad service, food slightly makes up for it, although my refried beans had a crust to them and he refilled our salsa out of a drippy, messy plastic pitcher. Call me a snob but if you're going to charge $10 for a burrito, it better be amazing and it just wasn't

I have to say, I adore this place. I grew up in southern California and really love Mexican food. This place is the best I have found in Seaside. The service is always friendly and quick. They do great daiquiris and margaritas in a variety of flavors too (my favorite is pineapple!). The restaurant itself is not fancy, but the food more than makes up for it!

Spring Break 2014!!! My disclaimer here is that Seaside has ZERO good restaurants, and when I mean good I mean restaurants that have earned 4 or 5 stars consistently. I am unsure what the problem is with this town, but seriously they need a Restaurant makeover. We were wanting some Mexican food, something traditional but not too authentic. We figured the Mazatlan rest. looked like the other "Matatlans" around the metro area. We walked in and it looked like it was under remodel or should be, but it wasn't. The service was fine, the man who was our waiter was bit pushy. I ordered a drink from the bar and it was not the best. It was watered down, my son got diet instead of regular soda. We asked for regular and he continued to bring us diet. It wasn't worth the time and the waiter couldn't really figure out what we were asking. The chips were good, but the salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of a can. I asked for a hot version and they didn't have that as an option. I ordered the enchilada/taco combo. The enchiladas were decent in both flavor and portion size. I asked him if I could get mole, crema or verde and he said "No". LOL....Again not worth the time to figure it out. The chicken inside the enchilada was very good, all breast meat and no fillers. I asked for the taco to have sour cream and skip the lettuce. Neither request was honored. The prices were average. We will not return there again. Stick with Fultanos, that's the only decent place to eat in Seaside.

First, the lot that the restaurant is on houses multiple run down trailer park mobile homess that beg the question why they haven't been condemned for human inhabitancy. The back lot looks scary to say the least. The waiter was very friendly at first... When we declined to drink anything other than water, he seemed visibly annoyed that we didn't want soft drinks or alcoholic drinks. When we asked for NO Sour Cream on one of our dishes he laughed us off and walked away. The dish came out with it in the same "dish" the guacamole was served in. My husband ordered Shrimp Fajitas, the shrimp were sparse and there was a weird vegetable mix added to the plate, which should have been typical peppers and onions, but included carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower and scallions. My Taco salad was bland, I didn't eat most of it, which is un-usual. Over all, we are in no rush to ever come back to this place or any of it's other locations, as I believe this is a chain. NO BUENO!!! Bathroom was kinda dingy also.

Went here today for lunch with my family and everything was pretty average. Chips and salsa were good but it's kind of hard to screw up chips and salsa. I ordered an enchilada, taco and tamale combo dinner and it was just OK. I have a hard time finding any Mexican restaurant that really wows me so unfortunately Mazatlan only gets 3 stars.

Finally I was able to get my husband into a Mexican restaurant and it was an amazing experience. We had excellent service from all of the staff. Arriving with water when we sat down right away and always being there to fill up the salsa or drinks before we even needed to ask. The food was great, the menu is HUGE so there is something there for everyone. The burritos are huge and very tasty as was the tostadas, enchiladas and tacos. YUM a must visit when your in Seaside and in the mood for good sized portions at a very reasonable price that tastes wonderful... Very accommodating for families and large groups. MMM wish I was eating there now :P

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
